This is a small winery just outside of Temecula that seems to get overlooked when talking about the wineries in this area. It's about three miles from the Harrah's So Cal casino. We went as a group of five and wine tasted both reds and whites and had dinner. The ambiance is wonderful-- peaceful, beautiful, overlooking the vineyards and a barn. Service was very good even though our server couldn't tell us much about the vineyard and wasn't sure what varietals they grow there, so we looked it up and found it on google. The wines from the tasting were a little hit or miss. We liked two from the white tasting (one was actually a suprisingly good rose) and two from the reds. The collective favorite was the Ranch House red and I'd recommend simply ordering a glass of that rather than doing the $30 tasting flight of six. The food was also a little hit or miss. My husband found his ribeye to be the perfect temperature but overly fatty (translation, the grill was not hot enough). My father in law got the burger and felt it was excellent. The rest of us got the shrimp pasta and felt it was excellent too. Be sure to try the bread as an appetizer-- the local artisan butter will make you want to give up store-bought butter for the rest of your life. Overall, this is a great choice for a nice dinner out. Spent Father's Day here on a whim. We did the Mixed Tasting, and every wine we tried was delicious. I also loved the presentation, it was served in a tower instead of a traditional flight, which made the tasting feel unique and fun. We ordered the charcuterie board and the bread and cheese plate as well. They were okay, but still paired nicely with the wines. The highlight, though, was the view. Service was great, everyone was so nice and super helpful with wine suggestions. We ordered 1 of each empanada and the bread appetizer to share. Definitely do not pass up on either of these! The flavors were bold and balanced in each empanada. The salsa was the perfect level of spice and flavor to compliment each empanada. But the bread was my absolute favorite. I'm also just obsessed with bread and butter. Their seasonal flavored butter was divine, easily spreadable and a delicious touch I wished we had ordered a 2nd one! They have a limited menu which the food is prepared in their food truck. The empanadas are awesome!!! You get a fair selection of great wines and the service is attentive and pleasant. My husband and I came here for the first time to have a drink and lunch. We will definitely be coming back. My first thought when we parked was "beautiful view!" The winery has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has a view of the beautiful vineyard. My husband ordered the Mixed Wine Flight and I had a glass of the Muscat. All the wine we had was dry. We enjoyed them. We also ordered the Red Pepper Hummus Crudité and Cheese and Charcuterie Board. We loved the board. We love coming to Hilltop! The new owners obviously know what they are doing! The staff is extremely attentive (Julietta and Emma are stars!) The new chef is a dream come true! We love the empanadas, the quinoa salad , the burger, the orricette, and THE RIBEYE! The views are to die for. The wine selection is much improved. Two things we would love to see: another salad option, something simple like a Kale Caesar. The musicians on Saturdays are all really good-and perhaps we are in the minority here for our opinion-the volume is a bit on the high side. If it was more ambient, less like a concert, it would make it easier to converse with our dinner companions. That just our two cents. Maybe we are old fogeys, lol. I met my wife there ! I loved the atmosphere in 2021. We came to have an anniversary celebration and the waitress made a vague " oh cool " to my wife. And the brought us a red wine taster. We had to track her down to order an appetizer & then an hour later no communication with the waitress. I had to go to up to the front to add to the order then almost beg the waitress for our bill. She printed the bill out it at the front desk not at our table ! As we had to give her the hint we are done. Her and other employees were just drinking at a table so our celebration I feel was not very important. Wine 10 of 10. Service was 2-3 of 10. The scenery was beautiful, the views were incredible, and the atmosphere made for a perfect outing. The food exceeded our expectations--everything was well prepared and full of flavor. TIP: As of our visit in June, there's a $2 off your first tasting with Yelp check in. The staff was unaware of this offer, but they did end up applying a discount to make up for it. First time visiting, but HTW has been on our radar for quite a while. We've read a lot on Yelp about the wines and food, and approached it with an open mind. After visiting, I tend to agree with most other reviewers, the wines were okay, but the food was very good. There's a large indoor tasting room, as well as a large, covered patio. The vineyard and winery grounds are beautiful, offering picturesque views across the valley. A wonderful location to relax and enjoy their offerings. WINES: Chris poured for us and we shared both a white flight and red flight ($25 for each flight). There were 5 wines per flight and in general, we thought the wines were very light bodied. I would say that they would be great for people just getting into wine. We tend to like more full bodied reds and oaked whites. There was a very nice 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon ($35) that was not on the tasting menu, but Chris was able to get us a taste. We took a bottle of that and a 2019 Pinot Gris ($40) home with us. FOOD: They have a "food truck" onsite, which is really a permanent outside kitchen housed within a trailer. Not an extensive menu, but something for everyone. We started by sharing the Artichoke & Spinach Dip ($18.75) which was very good. Then we split a Fig Salad ($20.25) and the Bacon Brie Burger ($26.25), also very good. Overall, we had a pleasant afternoon, but we thought it was a little on the expensive side compared to other wineries in San Diego County. We probably wouldn't return just for the wine, but the food and service were very good. I always say, everyone's palates are different, so you should give them a try for yourself. We are locals and used to visit Hilltop a lot and actually used to be wine club members. Tried it today for the first time again after reopening. First we get charged for two bottles instead of two glasses and although it was the severs fault, got a ton of attitude because she obviously didn't know how to correct it. The I am sorry felt convincing. Insert sarcasm. Asked for a sweet wine and was recommended the rose which didn't taste sweet at all and had a bad after taste. When we mentioned it taking the full glass back to the counter we got another "oh I am sorry" from Natasha. Maybe a little customer service training is needed. The correct answer would have been. I am so sorry may I get you something else. The winery is gorgeous. The views are gorgeous but not enough to offset our experience this afternoon. read more

What a treat! First just a heads up, when they close at 7:30 pm they really do and want you off the property. We weren't expecting that because most places after they close they let you hang out a little while longer. Also, they only do one check for large parties. Other than that, wonderful! Food was amazing! I had the brisket sandwich and fries. So flavorful! But here is the wonderful thing. We didn't realize the tip was included in the bill and ended up paying two tips. WOW, did I mention WOW I was at Harrahs down the street and saw the wine tasting recommendation at Hill Top. It was advertised as being near Harrahs. It mapped at 6 minutes from Harrahs. So for the short drive I went. From Harrahs keep your eyes open to the left. You pass through the aesthetic gates and drive up the drive to the hill top winery. There is plenty of parking so pick a spot. The location is what you would expect from a winery. Vines everywhere and a main building which invites you inside. As you approach you see it is 21 and over. You are immediately welcomed once passing through the doors. Once inside you see there are inside and outside seat. The outside seat have amazing views. So outside I went. Yelp didn't provide a menu pic so I will be adding one. The menu provides you with adequate food options and an array of wines. So, do I stop here...nope. The pre selected wine flight was amazing. Truly amazing. Each wine from the Cab to the Muscat on the flight was a pleasure to both the palate and the aromatic senses. We paired with an amazing flatbread. Amazing is an understatement...this was the best flatbread I have ever had. Truly a culinary masterpiece. I truly look forward to returning to this hilltop winery. I'm so looking forward to trying more of the food and more of the wine. Thank you for the immersive experience. I will be back. read more

Driving on Valley View, you'd never know this beautiful vineyard is just steps away. Driving by the other day, I decided to make that turn at the sign and so glad I did! It's a short drive up the hill to the tasting room and restaurant. The property is beautiful and very well cared for. As you walk in, the pleasant staff are very welcoming and make you feel at home right away. They have a great inside portion and a large covered outdoor area. As it was a bit too hot for me, we decided to sit inside. We were helped by Christine N. who was very welcoming, professional, informative, helpful and very sweet. We decided to do the Mixed Tasting. It's a mix of red and white wines. They were all very good but my absolute favorites were #1 & #4. I checked in on Yelp and it gave me a $2 discount. From now on, this will definitely be a stop over and I'll be purchasing bottles regularly. If you're in the area, this is definitely a great place to stop by. We had Rebecca as our server and she was super nice & very well versed on the menu and she highlighted several of the things she particularly liked pertaining to to those dishes. It's my birthday month and I was treated to dinner & wine here a few years in a row now and each time it's been very relaxing! This time there wasn't a huge office party in front of the fireplace at the time of our visit. Although our server chuckled because they had a group that resembled exactly that just prior to our time slot. So we opted for that wonderful open fireplace..that's right on the patio. It's a large open floor plan overlooking the vineyard grounds and gorgeous sunset. The full moon was a nice touch to brighten the winters' dark mood. Everything we ordered was great! The taster flight, Brie En Croute (made like a small charcuterie), Brie burger & fries, mixed beet & arugula salad, and my Birthday Date cake. Still no Birthday complementary dessert treats at this venue. All the dishes we got were shareable dishes. Chef Rudi did fantastic job and I spoke to him briefly just after his shift. They are very prompt on their schedule and will inform you how many more minutes to order anything and last call for vino. Currently they are running a to-go wine offer. Buy two select bottles & get one select for free. Average cost is about 30$ each. Some of their wines are on the lighter bodied side & are less acidic. Their Tempranillo is earthier/smokier than some but if you know the wines from this region then you know that's pretty common here. We felt like we had VIP service. That was a nice Adult night out treat. Especially when you've needed reprieve from having a day/week/crazy year of Adulting! Maybe they'll bring in a live music night on their calendar. We ordered the cheese and charcuterie plate, a flight for wine tasting, and a glass of the Tempranillo Rose. They returned with a very generous pour of the Rose. The cheese and charcuterie plate was perfect for 3 people. It happened to be a windy day and we asked if they could bring a heater and they did so right away.
