My sister-in-law and I walked into the restaurant and found the place to be very busy as you would expect at dinner time. The crowd was mostly elderly, could be regulars. For appetizers, we ordered the potato skins. For our meals, I ordered the special of the day, Seabass with pilaf, and vegetables. My sister-in-law ordered the soft crab cake. And before our appetizer and meals arrived we were served a basket of rolls which looked like regular rolls, but when you bit into them, they were warm and very tasty. Both of our meals were very good. Sadly we had no room for dessert. Where our table was situated, we could see pretty much the entire restaurant. The only thing that was not visible was the sitting bar but everywhere you sat, you would be looking out a window. It is all around the windows. One of the window area they had hummingbird feeders hanging, and you could see the hummingbirds haven't their dinner as well. Service was very friendly. Service at the bar was also lacking. The bartender was frequently away talking with servers, leaving us waiting a long time for drinks despite how slow the restaurant was. The food was equally underwhelming. The sides that are often praised, including the twice-baked potato, tasted like frozen, reheated items rather than something freshly made. The meat itself was mediocre and forgettable, with nothing that stood out. We really wanted to like this place and gave it multiple chances, but after three visits, we're genuinely confused by the hype.

A stunning house sits at the top of the hill, and the drive up is lined with orange trees, which immediately creates a magical experience. Just below, there's a pond with a gazebo, and only a few steps away you'll find the ceremony site. It's already gorgeous on its own, but it becomes even more breathtaking with added decor. The reception area, with its canopy of sparkling string lights, feels warm and romantic without needing much enhancement. My couple started their day with getting-ready photos in the bridal and groom suites, which are full of character. There are so many thoughtful details and props from vintage trays to elegant silver-framed mirrors, that make for creative images. We also used the spacious, beautifully lit living room for portraits. The first look and bridal party photos took place just outside the house, which provided a private and peaceful setting since guests gather in a separate area for the ceremony and reception. After the ceremony, we explored the gazebo and pond for more portraits. One of the most unforgettable moments was sunset!!! My jaw was on the floor! The sky turned the most incredible shade of pink, with mountains surrounding the venue and the string lights beginning to glow. It was absolutely breathtaking, and I couldn't stop taking photos. They have different animal experiences you can book in advance for on their website, but their most popular seems to be the one where you get to sit in a pool with otters! The session and communication beforehand were well organized and helpful. I won't spoil everything, but not only did we get to sit in a pool with otters zooming all over the place at the end, but we got to learn about, see, and touch about 6 other types of animals up close + walk through some of the property to view some other saved animals. For the otter swim, the team will take tons of photos using your phone or camera, so you can just enjoy the moment! They recommend wearing a tank or shirt over your swim suit (there will be time to change into it right before the swim), and J wish I wore a looser shirt, because it gives more space for the otters to wiggle in and explore :D Plenty of parking, clean restrooms on site, bring your own water/snacks if needed. Definitely a little pricey, but it goes to support the reserve and its little critters and was such a fun time!
