Lovely store with even lovelier staff! We are from Phoenix, visiting Prescott for the weekend and decided to pick up some millet for my cockatiel and had a nice time chatting with them. They have a wide selection of toys and food to choose from for all birds. Ummm....I have no idea how this place gets 5 stars but it's not jiggy with me. Maybe it was because I didn't feel welcome there? As soon as I stepped inside the store I was met with a cold blank stare from an older man behind a desk. After a few seconds, I smiled at him and he finally said, "hello"..... but that was it. Maybe I was being to creepy...smiling and all. He didn't even ask if we were looking for a happy parrot or if we needed any kind of help. He just stared at his computer ignoring me. Ok..whatever. Maybe this place didn't get a 5 star review from me because I also felt this place was cluttered and dirty. Or maybe because a lot of the birds were either bald on their torso or missing feathers on their head. I understand birds molt but do birds molt all at once? It was nice to see a few parrots and other exotic birds perching outside thier cages. There were parrolets and conures for $200.00 Other birds included Parakeets, zebra finches and canaries. There was a section for bird toys and food supplies. I never did find the happy parrot. I wasn't impressed. read more

We recently boarded our African Grey, "Bird", at The Happy Parrot while we visited family over the Christmas holiday in California. Jeff, the owner of The Happy Parrot took such good care of her. Not only are his prices reasonable for boarding, it is nice to know that he takes very good care of the birds in his care. He loves parrots and it is evident in the way he talks about them and how he cares for them. Bird came home with a new vocabulary. She shared her new words with us on her way home. She is very happy and I know she had a great time meeting new friends. We are so grateful to have The Happy Parrot in our community and encourage all to stop by this wonderful business. read more

Had to find a new place in town to purchase quality bird food. Heard about this place online, and then Facebook messaged them to find out what kind of foods they had for my parrot. They gave me several brands so I could review online 1st, then was able to go and pick out which one I wanted. A very good supply of a variety of bird products and bird feed. read more

The Happy Parrot is a great place to learn about birds and to interact with them in a laid-back environment. Many of the birds are allowed out of their cages during the day. This is very important to such intelligent creatures and I've seen shy birds at the store become more comfortable over time. This opportunity to socialize improves their chances for success when they find a new home. Birds are available for sale, but the store encourages responsible purchases and assists with rehoming. You are free to visit without any pressure to buy. The store also offers a variety of foods, perches, cages, and toys. In 2017, the owners boarded birds whose owners were evacuated during the Goodwin Fire, free of charge. They also helped bring my own parrot home safely by assisting the people who had found him. read more

Perfect & truly happy place. The birds are well taken care of and running around the store which is a delight for me. Fellow who own the store, (Think his name is Jeff) is "The Bird Whisperer". My bird who was traumatized as a baby tries to attack everyone but me. He went to Jeff and let him cut his nails with only minor gripping. Great place. The Happy Parrot is a welcome arrival in Prescott Valley. I can't tell you how pleased I am to have a store just for birds available to us. This is a store that is dedicated to exotic birds, their owners, and the needs of both. The owners are very knowledgeable about all aspects of parrot care and training. The birds in the store, both those for sale and the owners' personal pets, are HAPPY, HEALTHY, and BEAUTIFUL. The store is always spotless. They offer SAFE toys for birds of all sizes, unlike the chain pet stores. They sell quality foods at wonderful prices. They also offer a carefully chosen selection of good cages and wonderful parrot stands. I'm going to get one of those big, graceful manzanita stands for my African Grey just as soon as I can figure out how to get it home! And miracle of miracles, they offer grooming services, for those who don't want to struggle to find a vet who knows how to trim a beak or pay a fortune to have wings clipped. They also board birds! This is the first place I have felt even remotely comfortable about when considering leaving my parrots in someone elses care, but I am delighted to know that should I have to board my birds, they'll be fine when I get back. Whether you are a beginner with birds or an experienced parrot owner, this is the place to go for whatever you need, or just to talk birds with someone who truly knows them. The only negative I can find is that I'm constantly being tempted by things not on my shopping list when I visit them. I've had a ban on buying any new birds, which I have successfully honored for the last 14 years, but I saw gorgeous English Budgies in there last week, and now I'm planning on adding new arrivals to my flock of birds! read more

They are so gentle and my African Grey who doesn't warm up to strangers was great. I would recommend this place highly. This place is incredible! It is bird owner heaven!!!! Not only do they have everything you could possibly need to keep your dear bird happy and healthy, but they are super friendly with great service! They don't even mind if you just come in to enjoy some bird company. They were even KID FRIENDLY with paper and crayons for my kids to color on while I shopped for our parrot. Recently one of a pair of our Cockatiels, a female, suddenly died. This unfortunately led the male to become very upset and noisy! As it so happen we had heard of the Happy Parrot and decided to drop by to see about getting our surviving bird a new companion. The man staffing the store (presumably the owner) was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We chose a new female Cockatiel. We were not prepared with a transport cage, but the owner sold us a used one at a very reasonable price. We highly recommend The Happy Parrot! read more

Went to The Happy Parrot in October 2015. Wanted to see what was available as we are moving to AZ April 2016 and I'll need a supply of bird food. There were a lot of rescue birds there. I fell in love with Lucy an African Gray, but since we already have 2 birds, a third one would be too much for us. So sad to see birds that need a forever home. The owner was super nice and friendly. Glad to know that I'll be able to board the birds there is we ever travel and can't take them with us. read more
