I took my dog here for a self wash and was sadly disappointed in the facility. There was nowhere to hang your jacket or set anything down, except the floor. The metal bathing tubs flexed which caused my dog to move around. The metal tub wasn't really large enough for his 75 lbs. Worse, the water wasn't a constant warm as it should be. There were two spigots, one for cold and hot. I ignored the cold one but the hot one wouldn't stay warm. It kept going cold. I cut short the bath and just rinsed him. Another person bathing her dog next to mine had the same issues. I will not return here. read more

We're staying in Camp Verde for the winter and have two pups. We drove 40 minutes to Pet Headquarters thinking they'd have a great selection. They do not. The inventory is sparse. The shelves are empty. They didn't carry the two items we went in for. Truthfully, it looks like it's going out of business. I asked if they carried Pill Pockets. The clerk told me they did not because "they only carry natural food," and then told me to go to WalMart. I asked another clerk if they carried Taste of the Wild. She didn't know. She asked someone else and he went into an entire monologue about how the company that makes Costco dog food bought Taste of the Wild and so they refuse to carry it. It was off-putting and didn't seem professional to basically offend your customer. It would have been a great opportunity to just simply say "no, but here is what we do have...." Worst experience in a pet store ever. We won't be back. read more

I have a picky doggo. She only likes Canidae grain free "Land" dog formula. On my search for her favorite food, I stopped in here to check it out. I always like to try local shops first. I noticed they carried holistic and organic brands of dog food. Perfect. SoOooOoo....I searched high and low for my doggos Canidae food and didn't see it. They had all kinda of holistic dog food. Wellness, Earthbound and so on. They did have Canidae but not the "Land" formula. A guy asked if I needed any help and I asked if they stocked a specific brand of Canidae food. Unfortunately, no, but he was kind enough to call another store in Dewey to see if they had any. They didn't either. The guy said he could order it but it would take about 5 days to get it. Ughhh.. I appreciated the guys eagerness to help and he was super friendly, but my dog wouldn't be happy with a new brand of dog food. I thanked the guy for trying. So my search continued. read more

I went for the self dog wash and I was surprised that it was 20 dollars, which is more expensive then other places but I soon realized why. They dont give you diluted shampoo and conditioner like other places. I have a husky so her fur eats up all the diluted shampoo but since it was the concentrated version they provided, I finally had enough to lather her up. I also liked that they constantly checked in with me and was so nice and accommodating. read more

Pros - The staff is great, polite, and helpful. Speaking for the dog supplies, they seem to have quite a bit of dog food. The female owner is very nice. The store is in a great location with a lot of parking. Cons - Not enough packaged dog treats or toys for large dogs. We bought some rolled up jerky that were in the wicker baskets and when we opened them they were so old they turned to dust and there was old dead bugs in the package. It wasn't worth the gas to take them back. The groomers used be very good, but the last groomer we had just moved back east and we had to have a new girl do the grooming on our dog and she did the worst hack job ever. I have to take my dog elsewhere to fix her poor grooming. read more

I have been going to Pet Headquarters since they opened. Always had great customer service. This last visit I went to get dog biscuits for my large dogs. The biscuits that they like are now only in a one inch size. I asked if I could order the larger size and was told no. That was a shock to me because I have always been able to custom order biscuits from them. The biscuits they had in their bins looked terrible but I bought some anyways and I asked them to orderme a box. Well my dog would not eat them at all. I know this store has changed owners so many times. I am sad that the current staff would not order the biscuits that my dogs have always had from there. Thankfully Chewy has excellent customer service and I was able to get my biscuits from them. I am so sad that Pet Headquarters did not care about a long term customer. read more

A wonderful pet store. I know how hard it is to own a brick and mortar store as I had one for over 20 years. Keeping stock, keeping people happy is never-ending. Pet Headquarters offers an amazing selection of food, treats, toys, collars, harnesses, and more. Every time I have had a question or need a suggestion, the people help me and never act like your question is a pain to them. They take the time and give you the information you need to help find the best food for your dog, cat, whatever. I recently adopted a Standard Poodle puppy and before I even brought him home, I called to talk with their groomer, Katie. She helped me so much as I have never been owned by a dog who needs grooming. I guarantee that as soon as Asher has all of his shots, he will go to Pet Headquarters for his trims and cuts. It is so important to have a place to go for your pets that isn't online, that is a place you can go to and trust. When I buy Asher's harness, they have the perfect one for him there and they have the colors to choose from. They even fitted one of my rescues with the right harness and collar for me. Also, they do amazing donations to the rescues in the area. I have brought them food for those places and they have a wonderful setup so the rescues can pick up needed food and treats. RUDE RUDE RUDE!! Below, is a review from another customer dated November 19, 2021. I wasn't going to waste my time writing a review for Pet Headquarters, but I after I read what they wrote, I felt it is warranted to let people know about the rude way this business treats their dog bath customers. I USED to purchase other food and treat stuff there but will no longer. I cannot agree more. I was treated horridly the last time I went there to bath my dogs, January 2022. I think their names are Ty and Ian. I've ALWAYS left the dog bath area cleaner then when I went in. I have empathy for them when customers completely leave the place an utter mess and take hours to bath and dry their dogs. But, this is not the case with me and I have NEVER been treated so rudely at any business. I called and spoke with the owner and all she did was defend the two guys that were there, completely disregarding how unjustly rude they were to me. This has been our 'go to' dog bath place for 2 1/2 years now and are extremely thankful to have them but at what cost do I continue to give my business to people treat their customers so awful? I even go out of my way to show them how clean I leave the dog bath area before I leave so that they can see how clean I've left it. This is not the first time I have been treated rudely-I've reported the one guy's behavior before. The owner apologized profusely and said it wouldn't happy again only to happen again. The owner told me she could make more money turning it into another grooming station than to keep the dog bath area open. Revenue is made through word of mouth and exposure. They primarily have an amazing selection of animal food and those that bring their dogs in to get bathed are exposed to this and will do business with them, but not at the expense of being treated like a piece of dirt. **$20-$30 per dog to bath them and only spend about 30-40 minutes there. What do we pay for????????? It is to be expected to have some dog hair in there for cryin out loud. It's not a surgical suite. November 19, 2021 · Worst experience I've ever had . I have a Shaved long hair dog that I bathed and quickly dried not even completely dried him as to limit the hair . I then cleaned the tub and vacuumed my station then wiped down my drying station . Went to pay and this lady comes out rudely accusing us of breaking the squeegee mop , only to be told by another employee it was broken yesterday and they forgot to tell her . Then proceeded to tell us how bad of a mess we left and that next time will cost more to bath. Really I have NO idea how this place can treat customers so rudely. My husband disagreed and said let's go look at the mess we supposedly left , again this employee was rude and literally harassed us out the door. I would give this place a negative star if I could , the attitude alone we got I will NEVER go back and I will advise others the same . I never leave reviews, but I'm honestly so appalled that they think it's ok to treat a customer this way I think others should know . I have shopped at this store for pet food many times with no issues. Then a few months back, my dog gets sprayed by a skunk. I call the store to see if I can bring him in to the self service dog wash. They said that's fine. I immediately head over. Right before I start washing my dog, (and 2 HOURS BEFORE CLOSING) a man runs in yelling at me that he wants to close early and will not leave the store open for one dog. I left and will never be back. I would buy my dog food here instead of online to shop local, but have since returned to online orders. read more

Great alternative to the big chain stores. They probably don't have as large a selection as some but I've rarely needed anything they didn't have. Wonderful selection of dog treats, toys, collars and leashes. They do have a very large selection of superior quality dog food at a competitive price which I always buy there as after buying 10 bags you get one free. They not only carry kibble and canned but also freeze dried and raw food diets. Their customer service is very good, if they don't have an item when I ask about it, they do when I come back in 2 weeks. A few months ago I told them about a great product I got online and sure enough, a month later they had the product on display. Its so obvious that they all enjoy and are knowledgeable about dogs. I took Lady (black lab mix) in to get groomed, believe me she had gone to long from her last bath. She was stinky and hair was shedding something terrible. When we picked her up she was very clean and the shedding had stopped. All the extra hair was gone. She had a bandana on and was happy about her bath. Thank you for the fine work. read more

We have visited this store for last 2 years. They must have had a change in owners. No longer the pet friendly place as before. If you bring your dog into the store, make sure they don't have an accident or you will be asked to stand outside, rain or shine. The owners were very friendly before and the man was especially friendly and helpful. The female manager they have now is very rude, and don't think she really likes animals.
