Tom is a wonderful gentleman who really knows how to cut hair! I decided to give him a try after reading rave reviews from others who had followed him over to THB from the shop that he used to work at. He did a great job according to the photos that I showed him and we had a nice chat about all kinds of random topics. I did end up slightly point cutting back the fringe a little more by myself at home once I got back but he got everything else spot on. Over a long life, I've had about 1.000 haircuts (and some very close shaves, but that is another story). My worst haircut was at the Naval Boot Camp in San Diego; among the best was my haircut yesterday by Dirty Dan in a Man Cave in Los Gatos! He may call himself Dirty Dan, but he and the shop were spotless and blessedly low-key, except for some good tunes in the background. When he placed the hot towel on my scared face, I knew I was finally in the right place. No more fancy salons, just a Barber Shop that does one thing and does it well! That is all this man wants or needs in an often rushed and crazy world. Dirty Dan does Gray Hair and Old Beards very, very well! Confirmed by my wife (and Chief Fashion Consultant). Johnny has been cutting my hair for a couple years (formerly at Royal Shaving Parlor) and once he struck out on his own, I had to follow. You won't get the standard Silicon Valley chit chat - at one place I was at I heard the barber on my left talk about their spouses Apple RSUs and the barber on my right talk about how they went keto - but you will get some solid old school scissor skills and a keen eye for detail. There are plenty of places you can go for fades and other things of that nature, but finding a barber that can give you a haircut that will still look good five weeks later is a lot harder to find - but you can get that here. read more
