I was looking for a new barber shop after a bad experience at my previous one. I decided to give Jerry's Barber Shop a try as it is about 5 minutes from my house. It was easy to make an appointment for the same day. I arrived about 5 minutes early and was immediately welcomed and seated in the barber chair about a minute later. Leon took good care of me and I'm very happy with the haircut - and so is my wife. In particular, what I liked about it: it's clean, it's quiet, it's very fairly priced and it took only 20 minutes or so for my haircut. I'm from out of town and needed a major haircut. Initially, I went to another barber shop near by but was turned away because they were booked with appointments. I decided to stop here afterwards. The man and woman working here were both so kind. Although I had to wait, I didn't mind at all. The barber shop gave me classy vibes and look very historical. My son just got home from his first haircut with Jerry. He has bald patches ,uneven line up and a crooked fade. He asked for the top to be trimmed and inch and he cut off like 4-5. My cut: Skin fade, blend to the top, hard line, chopped some off the top Pros: -Best value guaranteed at $19/cut -Straight razor finish -Average about 30-45 min a cut -They will always cater to what you want, if something doesn't look the way you want it to the day after (after a shower/style it), go back and they will help you adjust your cut Cons: -Because people know this shop is the place to go, the wait can be awhile sometimes, I've had to wait probably an 1-2 hours before to get cut, since they do not take reservations (people can call in to put their name down, which is their system of seeing who to cut next) Tips: -Come during off hours or right when they open so you don't need to wait too long -You can call to put your name down if there is a wait, which in a sense is like a "reservation" (I've never actually done this because I don't mind waiting since I normally go during off hours) My brother first introduced me to this place about 3-4 years ago, and I haven't strayed away since. Very rude owner, hard to communicate, kept us waiting for over 40min and let someone else cut in line( we arrived at 10am when it was just open on Sun, he kept telling the other barber would be there any minute). I have been coming to Jerry's off and on for quite a while, and lately I've decided to make this my regular stylist. I've seen them go through a couple of owner/management changes, a remodel, staff changes, and now the pandemic. Thru it all they have always been real consistent with their service and staffing. I've been reading through some of the reviews left here--especially the negative reviews, and I have a problem reconciling some of these opinions with my own direct experiences. It's a great old-school type, no frills barber shop. They are very accomodating with client interactions--sometimes I'm not super social (usually due to MASSIVE hangover from previous night's martini's), but that's not any issue with efficient service getting me in and out. There is usually friendly barbershop chatter happening in the shop, and they got a big screen TV with news or sports on. Plenty of parking in an enclosed lot. Pro Tip: Go in the mornings to avoid any crowds. This is what I've been doing for almost two decades, and I've never had to wait. read more

This all happened on one of the hottest days of June. If I remember, it was hitting 100 degrees by the time I have arrived. Literally had a haircut done at a local campbell location prior, which I've been going to during covid times. Today will be the last time because I really couldn't step out of my car unless I had it fixed. Searched yelp, and came here straight knowing that they priorities appointments. Busy day on Friday afternoon. One guy n a lady working and guy tells me that I'll be pushed back depending on appointments. Plus points for telling me verbally even though I saw the sign when I walked in and used restroom as well. Really thought I would spend entire afternoon, it was that busy. But no way I would have went home with haircut ive received prior, esp if I'm meeting my relatives this weekend that I haven't met for over a decade. As an introvert, I avoid haircuts. Small talks stresses me out a lot but this guy who's cutting my hair read me so well. He asked what I want, what happened to such fresh haircut, and even gave me pointers on what he can do. Yes yes and yes. Ended up leaving the shop with haircut that I was asking for but even better. Only thing I didnt expect was that they only take cash. Door had visa n Mastercard logo, but there was liquor store right next door that I was able to use atm from. When I got back with cash, guy who vut my hair was in the restroom so I didn't get to ask for his name. My 1300th Review! Not bad for a no-nonsense $19 haircut. Place is packed (a good sign), but you can call ahead and get your name on the list. Just stick with an easy name like Bob, especially if you're sub-Asian, because the guy had trouble with "Glen". I especially liked Raquel. Even though I asked for a gentleman's cut, she insisted what I was asking for was a combover. Even so, come on, give it a cooler name. Like a "powercut" or a "hairsweep" or a "stud brushcover". Covid Review: JBS is pretty much on top of their covid regulations. They have an online scheduling platform now which is great. Although, I would rather CALL in to schedule - than to use the online website... much easier to be honest. They sanitize and clean the area very well and are also super welcoming. They all wear masks during the process and have limited people inside. TLDR, if you want a great haircut and during covid... then JBS is the place to go! So I need to get my haircut 3 times a month. The spot I usually go to charges me $40 and that's after a tip for a haircut well done. But at $120 a month that can be a tad pricey. So I had to find a spot that a little less expensive and can cut my hair to my standards. A couple friends recommended this spot to me and me liking how their hair looks at the end made me give this place a go. So I came here and got my haircut by Jessica. She did an outstanding job on following how I wanted my hair cut. My hair couldnt have came out any better. She also gave me a warm shave on the back of my neck. The best part was the massage I got at the end. I got what you would get and then some at a place that would charge $40-$50 for a frugal $19...I did tip! Always my goto place and I'm glad they're back I drive twenty mins out of my way to get cut by Michael. Michael and all the other barbers are very easy to talk to and over the year I have found it very satisfying just to talk to them while getting my hair cut. They do require a mask so be respectful and bring one. I see they are also giving masks to some customers but be thoughtful and don't rely on that. read more

Absolutely love this place! I spent so much time going from barber to barber, shop to shop, and just was never happy.... at Los Gatos barbershop I would wait and pray that some of the barbers wouldn't ask me to cut my hair... that's how bad it got, but not here. Each one of the hair stylist here are excellent! Although, everyone does such a great job I do have my favorite Leon. This man is a wizard. He is not a hair stylist, but an artist. So precise and perfect I don't even check my hair in the mirror. Not only does this place offer a straight razor to go around the ears, neck, and hair line, but they all do perfect fades. I've never seen a place that has such barbers that do that... trust me.. I've had pretty awful fades. Typically, I show them a photo of what I like done. No joke, Leon is so good.. after 3 months of not getting a hair cut he told me "I don't need the photo.. 1 1/2 fade". Kid you not... my hair looked exactly like the photo... THE GUY DIDNT SEE THE PHOTO AND ITS BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE MY LAST HAIR CUT!! 16-17 dollars for a hair cut of this caliber is wayyy to great of a deal to pass up on. Many places will charge you more and do a bad job. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking to try a new barber. read more

Oh Lord, please keep me away from all those limited barbers in this area. You know the ones with a one track mind and a one cut style. On a rainy day I didn't want to drive far away and I ended up in this place. I had relatively long hair and the older guy I think he is Filipino promised me that he will cut only one inch and he even asked me if I wanted to cover some of my ears with hair and I agreed with him. After 10 or 15 minutes he gave me the mirror to look back and the result was (the cut he only knows) crew cut. I mentioned to him that with the deeper haircut the longer it will take us to come back again (if there will be next time).He made me look like a soldier (second time around). Now after two months, I have the length of hair that I was expecting to have when I left his shop.  But if you like the rapper or hipster look this is your place. read more

Finishing college in SoCal and moving back to the area, I needed to find a new go-to barber to fix me up with a fresh fade. I'm pretty hesitant for paying anything over $20, so Jerry's was the only option besides the plethora of Asian salons. And boy am I glad I found this place. I've been here 3 times during the weekday and have never been disappointed. I believed Jerry retired and 2 viet guys took over, but I'm not too sure. I never caught his name but i had the guy with a mullet cut my hair the last 2 times and he was pretty decent. Solid fade, solid line up. I guess the only downside is he reeks of cigarettes and he talks like he's a barber God, but for $17 I'll let it slide. Apparently finding a good barber is just as hard as finding a good stylists. Can they taper? Are said tapers well faded? Do they leave you feeling fresher than a fresh jar of skippy? Did the barber notice your ill fated hairline? Did they include a shave? Did said shave follow your hair grain? How much does it cost to get the right cut? I spent Sunday morning yelping barbers for my partner. He normally goes to Deluxe in Willow Glen but they were closed until Wednesday. He stupidly opted to try a brand new place (Giants in downtown SJ) without yelping or requesting a specific barber. He ended up with a woman and she left him looking like a "where's my hug" kinda guy. Since I couldn't have my partner looking like a scrub, I decided I would yelp a barber for him and Jerry's came up. This barber shop has been around since the 60s. Everything from the old school barber chairs, classic olympic team pictures, autographed pictures, and collecting dust screamed authentic barber. The original Jerry is now retired so my partner was helped by Leon. As soon as we walked in, Leon started pointing out what was messed up with the haircut that brought us in. "Oh man, this is not blended, its so spotty. these lines are crooked." All I said about it was, "it looks ok but its looked better." haha. Any who. Leon not only fixed a messed up haircut, he made it look better. He also shaved my partner. I felt that Leon was attentive and paid attention to details. And it all only cost $17.00. You won't find another barber who is as exceptional as Leon at this price anywhere else. He happens to commute from Hollister so make sure to tip the man!
