Danylo (aka Daniel) is the first barber / hairstylist who could take a photo of my hair and beard and execute it flawlessly on the first try. He's a pro with the clippers and scissors, and is very kind and entertaining in his conversations. Cool story / background as well. I used to drive from Los Gatos to San Francisco every 4 weeks (for years) for my haircut, but since meeting Danylo, I'm saving a lot of time with someone nearby and getting the quality I expect. Super cute little barber shop down the street from Oak and Rye pizza place I love to go to. Came inside to get my boyfriend some beard stuff. So I can only speak on the customer service and product but not much else. The selection of product they had was a decent amount. I liked how they put their own little charm to the set up decor. With little vintage trinkets around the product. The place is a bit busy, but the person that rang us up apologized. It was harder that day because he was the only one to cut hair and run register. I came into this barbershop in Los Gatos for a haircut and beard trim the morning of my wedding, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Cole, the owner, not only cut my hair and beard but also made the entire morning memorable. Two of the other barbers at this shop did amazing work with two of my closest friends, and later in the day, they managed to squeeze in my father-in-law despite some complicated family arrangements. The haircuts and beard trims were top-notch--so good that my friends were taking photos to show future barbers! The shop itself is beautiful and clean, with a really welcoming vibe. Cole is an awesome guy, and he even shared some incredible 12-year-old scotch with us that a customer had gifted him. For a while, my husband would get his haircut whenever we drove up to San Francisco to visit family. One day, we were walking around downtown Los Gatos and I noticed this place. My husband has been coming here approximately every 4-5 weeks for his hair cut since. He loves his haircut here and always stops by Manresa to pick up some pastries prior for us or sometimes I will join him if I don't have to work so we can grab lunch after his cut. Royal Shaving Parlor in Los Gatos was the first Barber I went to after the long Covid lockdown. I had the best service from Damien, but he ended up leaving so I found a new barber who I have been going to for years since. A few months ago my current barber went on a 2 week trip so I had to find a temporary barber to go to. I chose Andy. Andy was polite yet quiet. He greeted me friendly and after the haircut we both went to the front desk to pay. The haircut cost $58 not including tip. I brought $60 in cash intended to pay + tip $2. Before you judge, let me explain. I have extremely straight Asian hair that grows extremely fast and sticks up like a porcupine, therefore I get a haircut every week which adds up quickly. I spend over $200 a month on haircuts that includes a $5-$10 tip depending on what the barber's staring price is. Since Royal Shaving Parlor charges $58 which is $8 more than what I currently pay to my barber ($50+$5 tip), I only tipped $2. That is a consistent $220 I pay each month to my barber. After paying Andy $60, he was no longer friendly and polite. He quickly turned cold and rude. He took the cash, looked at me with an angry demeanor and walked away without a word after I thanked him. I am aware he does not know what kind of customer I could have been. One who would happily pay $60 four times a month. Tipping culture is something that has definitely gotten out of hand and could very well ruin business relationships / prevent a customer from potentially becoming a longtime consumer. First trip yesterday and was very impressed. The are open during this time with very strict protocols. Appointments made online where you can choose your barber and select the best time that meets your schedule. You can also prepay and tip online as well as sign your health waiver. It is all contact less and professional. When i arrived i checked in and was asked to wait outside in the shaded waiting area. Irene (my barber) came out promptly and walked me back to the parking area. They had 4 chairs set up at social distancing spacing and under covers for shade. you both wear masks during the haircut and she was careful to work around it as needed. If you need a haircut i cannot recommend a better place. I was VERY happy with the process and outcome and they have won a customer. read more

As soon as I walked up and explained the hairstyle I wanted, he followed up with questions specifically on what I wanted. That right there told me that its gonna be a good cut. Today I got my hair cut by Cole, who is the the proprietor at Royal Shaving Parlor, and as always, he gave me the perfect cut. (If I could underline the word 'Perfect' I would). You can book your appointment on line it's Quick & Easy. Or you can call them. Pricing is very reasonable for the level of service and the quality of the cut. A little about the Shop: Inside, the shop is nicely decorated with an old world charm, handcrafted counters and sufficiently spaced stations with very comfortable chairs. The stations are always clean, the floor is spotless (crazy for a salon!) and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. There is accessible parking in the back of the building which is nice since parking is limited on Santa Cruz Ave due to covid. To summarize, I've had my hair cut at various places, but since I started coming to Royal Shaving Parlor about the middle of last year, I wouldn't change this place if you paid me! Is unacceptable that barber didn't clean up his workstation before receive next customer but worst part is when i made the observation and I expressed my disappoint and other barber makes fun that I am so picky. I'm usually a salon snob but I had let my hair grow out way too much and my old stylist refused to use a shaver on my head. She 'doesn't own one'... okay so fast forward to today. This is the best barber shop around. You definitely get what you pay for. The first time I came in I had pretty bad dandruff and Cole shampooed my hair for free and gave me tips on what tools and products to get to help get rid of it. I recommend this place to all of my friends whenever they talk about needing a haircut. There are some great barbers here, no doubt, but it is pricey and their service has declined severely as of late and I would recommend not booking the owner as he is always late, rushes the cut and oddly even skips the "hot lather", which is the best part of a true barber experience. I just moved to Los Gatos and wanted to try something in town (I usually go to Bixsby House in San Jose). It didn't seem they really know how to work with haircuts that weren't quite short. I wanted something long enough to keep the natural waves that I discovered (and my wife loved) after going longer between cuts during Covid, but short enough to be clean and not puffy. Man, I LOVE this place! This was my second visit and Doug was the lucky guy who got to tackle my overgrown San Jose Sharks play-off blue mohawk! I can't say this enough, mo-hawks are NOT an easy cut and it's hard to find skilled professionals (in this area especially) that are willing and able (keyword is ABLE) to get this cut right. Believe me, the surrounding businesses have a had a field day jacking up my hair and charging me up the wazoo for it the last couple years. (University barbershop, I'm talking to you!) The Royal Shaving Parlor is NOT afraid of the classic hawk and definitely go above and beyond by cleaning up my sides and reshaping any areas that may have been dinged when touching up the shape. Doug is a cool ass guy who really takes pride in making sure you get what you want and nothing less. The father son duo (I am sorry dudes, I am BAD with names) are SO hospitable and make you feel welcome by remembering your face and engaging in easy going friendly conversation. You absolutely can NOT beat this price or their customer service! There is ZERO barbershop weirdness in here, the shop is unique, industrial and almost hipster in it's chic interior complete with Jack Daniels spray bottles and pistol hairdryers. They really have top notch product as well, check 'em out, smell 'em, touch 'em, you'll dig 'em! As long as I live in LG and this place sticks around, I'm coming back! You guys rock! Ps: Free coffee!
