This place is under new ownership. The new outside paint job, wow, it's pretty bold! It reminds me of a Chinese restaurant with the bright red and yellow colors. The building certainly needed a paint job. Four of us had reservations and our table was ready when we arrived. We've eaten here several times in the past and were looking forward to a good dinner. The place was pretty full. We ordered drinks to start. Mine was missing for 7-8 minutes after the rest got theirs. Our waitress was apologetic. I ordered the Shepherd's pie, which was always my favorite there, and a side salad with blue cheese on the side. My husband ordered the fish and chips. One friend ordered the Irish fried chicken sandwich and a side salad, also with blue cheese dressing. Our other friend wanted a Caesar salad (but it's no longer on the menu) and soup of the day. The waitress said the chef was not making soup because it was hot outside. We scratched our heads at that comment. My friend ended up ordering the steak salad. While waiting, the waitress came out with a very small bowl of blue cheese dressing. Hmmm, was that for two of us to share? Three entrees came out, followed by one salad a few minutes later. The fried chicken sandwich and other salad didn't show up....for long time. The waitress could have brought the salad out. Something happened that the kitchen dropped the ball on his order. His finally came out after the three of us were just about done with our meal. His chicken breast was small. He had to ask for his blue cheese dressing and the waitress looked at the bowl that was in front of me with an expression that made us think we did have to share it. It was enough for one salad, not two. She did bring out some for him. My friends steak salad was served in a huge, deep bowl. The amount of salad could have fed all four of us. It was topped with the steak, which wasn't a big portion and on the dry side. I was disappointed with the Shepherd's pie. The mashed potatoes, thick dollops instead of the potatoes spread out in an even layer, were on the dry side, not creamy at all. The ground beef and vegetables were okay, just not a lot of flavor. My husband's fish and chips were very good. A big piece of battered fish! The fries were good too. It was probably the best meal of the night. The waitress gave a 10% discount to our friend who had to wait a long time for his meal. My husband and I also got a 10% discount, which was unnecessary. Honestly, our friend's meal should have been taken off the bill in its entirety. Then when we get the bill, there is some sort of surcharge, which the waitress couldn't explain was it was for. The staff should know, and it should be annotated on the menu. Be up front with your extra charges, don't make customers find out at the end of the meal. I even heard one person at the table next to us also question this surcharge. Overall, a disappointing dinner. There were too many negatives over positives. We did note that there were only two waitresses and if I remember correctly, ours was fairly new to the place. But what happened with the missing meal that took so long to get to the table? My best friend and I were regulars at The Harp for years. Once a month we'd meet there to hoist some beers, have a great dinner and swap stories with others at the bar. About a year ago he moved out of state but he and his wife came back for a visit last month and we decided we had try out The Harp under its new management. Very disappointed. Firstly, I'll start with the Guinness! THE ABSOLUTE BEST IN TOWN, HANDS DOWN!! The Guinness taps, the entire food menu and the ambiance it's self are brought to you directly from Ireland! I grew up on Shepherd's Pie and my mom, rest her soul, simply can't compete with The Harp! The food menu is literally passed down recipes from the owner's own family and Vic (owner) is extremely serious about the integrity and maintaining the precise ingredients for every dish! First time visiting and it was for their Christmas buffet. I was lucky to get a reservation when I called about a week before the holiday. Having never been here before I didn't know what a small place it is. They had the buffet set up by the bar area. A bit of a tight squeeze, but it worked. The hostess was grace under pressure helping to clear tables and getting people seated. I tried a little bit of everything and it was all very delicious! Tender turkey, ham with an amazing glaze, roast beef in gravy, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, turkey and beef gravies, cranberry relish, cornbread dressing, collard greens, buttery baby carrots, and rolls. And pumpkin pie that was wonderful. Truly, everything was absolutely excellent! There was a constant flow of people and they really did their best to keep diners to a one hour interval. We went a little over and they made it clear there were people waiting for the table, so we wrapped it up. I wasn't upset and understood as they were only open from noon-6. If we're in town next year for xmas we'd definitely want to come back. Hopefully we'll be back sooner than that to try their regular menu. read more

Meh. My wife and I had at here for for the first time today. The service was wonderful. 5 stars for Savannah! The food was pretty good and the prices weren't bad. The ambience, on the other hand, was a zero. I understand that this is a sports bar and a game was on, but some of the guys and one of the women were just out of control. There was at least one child in the restaurant and it's small. One of the guys was screaming the eff word and the Cee you next Tuesday word. Another couple at a nearby table left really abruptly. The noise level was at a 10/10 at 1:00 pm. They should have asked them to calm it down. Probably won't be back because we just can't handle that level of noise. read more

The Shepherds Pie came out hot and was acceptable, but nothing wonderful about it. The restaurant was warm and stuffy and when we commented, they said the AC needs to be turned off periodically during the day. I guess early dinner patrons have to suffer until it cools off again, which it did. Beer should have been colder all around the table, and "we are out of orange slices" for my Blue Moon. At 4:45?? Too heavy on the mash with the fisherman's stew, became heavy after the sauce soaked through. The shepherds pie was on point for ingredients, just desperate need for salt and some rosemary. Really liked the Cod. Didn't love the curry for the chips. Maybe too sweet? The pint was on the money which should never be overlooked as some places don't clean the lines, but they have at The Harp. I'm really disappointed to be writing this review, especially since my husband and I are regulars at The Harp and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately, our recent visit took a dramatic turn when an employee, a young girl with black hair, who we have even seen bartending, became belligerent and aggressive toward two men at the bar. At first she was just making sexual comments, which made my spouse and I uncomfortable, but then she started screaming at two men and getting physically aggressive with them. This was when we decided to leave. What was most concerning was the complete lack of professionalism. The young girl with the black hair, who was clearly intoxicated, didn't just act as a customer, but as someone who thought she could behave however she wanted because she wasn't on the clock. The sharp has been around for a long time. I used to come here about 15 years ago for karaoke and dinner. This is a true run down hole in the wall with great service and amazing food. The door is falling off the hinges and it needs painted from top to bottom but it's part of the charm. My server was one of those old time servers that was as sweet as can be and knew everyone and I just adored her Her name is Dawn. I had the chicken vegetable soup with the homemade Irish soda bread. It was a little greasy for me , but had a great flavor. The bread is definitely an acquired taste. I had the Reuben and fries as my entree. That sandwich was so huge I could barely eat half. The fries were thick and not too crispy but still really good. The Reuben was one of the best ones that I have ever had. I'm going to begin this review by making mention that The Harp was a random choice made quickly on Valentine's Day evening. The reason? Our original reservations were made 2 weeks in advance and then we hit a snafu once we arrived at our reserved location bc the menu was a "set" menu and our favorite dishes were not available. Once we chose to leave, rather than select from the menu, we had no clue where to go, dressed in our best and completely disheartened (the entire day was already a disaster). We hit the road, ventured down 3rd St. and saw The Harp. The first time I visited The Harp, was during brunch and was a very casual experience. This time... a much different experience as it was around 8 pm, we were very overdressed and my wife had not eaten here before. This was our random "Irish" dinner for a late Valentine's Day. FOOD: Potato Cakes appetizer; Shepherd's Pie; Chicken Pot Pie. As an Irishman, I can truly appreciate Irish food. The Potato Cake appetizer are two house-made, mashed potato balls, coated in a batter and deep fried, served with a side of sour cream. The Harp's mashed potatoes inside are creamy, hot and on point. The fried, crunchy breading that coats these potato pillows gave the mashed potatoes some additional texture and flavor with, what appears to be, parmesan cheese blended in. They were very good and executed flawlessly for something so simple with very few ingredients needed to make. The Shepherd's Pie was what I ordered and this dish is either a big hit or a big miss. This one was wonderful. When it was delivered to our table, the juices were still bubbling in the dish, letting me know without a doubt that this was just finished cooking. That's nice. The same mashed potatoes rest wonderfully on top of this dish and include Irish Cheddar Cheese baked on top. The minced ground beef, vegetables and flavors will make you feel as if you're in a Belfast pub, enjoying true Irish fare. I loved this Shepherd's Pie and I would definitely order again. My wife ordered the Chicken Pot Pie with a large philo dough disc, nestled on top of freshly grilled chicken breast, cut into cubes (not premade chicken!) and fresh veggies. Everything appeared to be flawless when looking at the entree but the sauce seemed to have a spice, herb, soap residue or an additive that gave it a "funky" flavor that did not please my palate, nor my wife's. She ate half, boxed the rest up for me to reheat and eat later. 2 days later, it's still in the fridge and probably won't be eaten. If I'm being completely honest, the Chicken Pot Pie looked sexy but I've tasted frozen Banquet Chicken Pot Pie's for a buck, that had better flavor. So...with all this being said, the potato cakes were very good, the Shepherd's Pie was solid and the Chicken Pot Pie was a miss for both of us. SCORE: 3.4 STARS!! SERVICE: After walking inside, with only 1 other patron in the dining area, we noticed the sign in front "Please Seat Yourself" and we trekked 40 feet to an available booth in the corner. The front bar was hopping and it appeared that we had mistaken St. Patrick's Day for Valentine's Day. The party was definitely at the front of the house. Shortly after seating ourselves, we were greeted by our server, Regan. Although it was later in the evening and business was down to a crawl, Regan excelled. Throughout our meal, she was diligent with follow-ups, refills and accomodations. This service was a breath of fresh air since our entire day had been a total disaster and nothing had gone right. We did not feel rushed nor unappreciated as guests, even though we definitely didn't look like we belonged. Jeans and T-shirt would have been much more appropriate. LOL. The interior was clean, I observed Regan cleaning and sanitizing other tables around and there was no pressure to hurry and go. I'll take that all day, every day. The only reason for this lower score was due to how many patrons were packed into such a small section at the bar, easily being able to identify that the 6 ft social distancing rule was not being entirely enforced and maskless patrons were very close to one another. Fortunately, we were segregated from the bar crowd and enjoyed our meal and service from a distance. SCORE: 4.2 STARS!! OVERALL SCORE: If you want to taste authentic, Irish food in a very casual, laid back setting with great service...The Harp is for you. Our meal experience included a homerun, a double and a strike-out (cheesy baseball reference) in regards to the food and solid service from a friendly server, making this review and experience a mixed bag. I'll definitely go back and try their other dishes, but I will avoid the bar area and dress more appropriately. 3.8 STARS!! read more

Spent a delightful Saturday afternoon at The Harp, eating and listening to a great jam session of local musicians. I went to your restaurant today Christmas Day for your buffet with my wife and friend. We were very disappointed, the turkey was cold, the ham was very fatty, there was no roast beef that was advertised and the mashed potatoes were cold and dry. For desert there were some Christmas cookies. When we were leaving my wife went to the manager and mentioned that she was disappointed and she said that they did not have roast beef because they could not afford it. If your restaurant was not going to be serving roast beef then it should not have been advertised on your Facebook page. I will certainly tell all of my friends to avoid your restaurant and I will think twice before going back. read more

Curry sauce was good-just a simple yellow curry sauce. Burger was also good, had a yummy crispy outer coating. Now the Shepherd's pie was so delicious that made me want to lick every inch of the bowl. The savory meat sauce and the cheesy mashed potato topping is what makes this dish ultimate comfort food. Love the food here. The corned beef meal, Ruben, burger, and curry are all great. I recently had split pea soup which was amazing. The drink menu is good too. Sometimes it's a little pricy for what you get (or family of 3 just spent $50 for dinner - no drinks). Some of the wait staff are wonderful. We recently had a waiter who was very nice but hard to understand as he spoke limited English. After we ordered I overheard a waitress telling the table next to us all about the specials which would have changed what I ordered if I had the same presentation. Overall, the food is great and service is fast. Great lunch or dinner spot. I hear the bunch is great but I haven't had it yet. read more

After looking over the menu my husband found out that there was no Dr Pepper, or ginger ale (this is at a bar). The selection of beers was minimal. Now on to the food. I ordered the Guinness steak.As a side there was mashed carrots so I opted for cole slaw. When it came out the slaw had no flavor, the mashed potatoes were lukewarm and also no flavor. I did not eat that as well. The beef was good however. So all I had to eat was the Guiness beef. My husband ordered the shepards pie which had the mashed potatoes just plopped on top, not like it should be with the potatoes covering the dish and baked on. The temperature of the dish was hot on one side and cool on the other. At the end I asked to speak to a manager, no such being, only the owner. He never came over to speak with me. Shows how much he cares about the food he serves. They call this a Irish pub..Not on your life. I've been to Ireland and no resemblance. The Harp feels like your friendly neighborhood pub! There are plenty of drinks to choose from and the staff was very friendly. The patrons were all having a great time and there was a nice crowd. We went on a karaoke night and there were plenty of people singing and having fun! I'm giving it 4 stars because there was water dripping from the ceiling in the men's room, hopefully that is already repaired! Either way, we will definitely be going back, nice mix of age groups and a great time! read more

They put out a kick ass breakfast at reasonable prices. I had the Irish breakfast with fresh made bread and my dining partner had Eggs Benedict with a side of fresh made corned beef hash and a side of gravy.
