We love this place! We have only been on the "bar side", but there is a family friendly "grill side" as well. Food is available at both. At first glance, the bar appears to be a good old fashioned dive bar, but when you look closer, there is a pool table, video games and a full menu from the grill. And the menu is not just bar food. Have dined here for lunch a couple times and always had great food. I consider their $12.99 Shrimp special to be the best deal in Wilmington. Went for breakfast Sunday morning. Only 2 other people at a table. We ordered eggs Benedict southern with grits and side order of smoked sausage. After waiting almost an hour, food finally arrived. Eggs were overcooked, gravy barely warm, grits not warm enough to melt butter, and sausages not delivered. Sent it all back. I ate at Katy's on a Tuesday when they have their half-priced burger special and it was very good! They have several different burger choices and I got the Tiki Burger. I highly recommend it. I chose fries as a side, but next time I will get the onion rings because the burger came with two onion rings on it and they were excellent. They were sliced thin, lightly breaded, and very fresh. Yum! This burger meal was a great value for the money. I didn't order a beverage; just the burger and fries, and the price was only $7.15 including tax (but before tip). You can't eat at a fast food restaurant for that and it was way better tasting than fast-food. They have outdoor seating and also a bar but I didn't get anything from the bar. My waitress was friendly and fast; no complaints with the service on that day. I was there at lunch and it was not crowded so we got our food pretty quickly. This is definitely not a fancy place. It's more of a hole-in-the-wall that reminded me a little of an old-school truck stop or diner. You could wear extremely casual beach cover ups or have a crying baby or a large group of people and be completely fine. Considering the very reasonable price of their specials and the quality of the burger I had, I will be going back to try their other specials. This place might even deserve a 5-star review but this was my first time there so I want to try it again and make sure it's consistently good. read more

Great food and friendly staff. Fast service and excellent for a quick, hot and tasty lunch for under $15/entree. My favorite is the Dune Chicken Sandwich with tots for a side (their tots remind me of chickfila hashbrowns and are delicious), and of course extra homemade ranch. I think it's about $13 if not on special. My only complaints are that fries/chips are inconsistent - sometimes crispy and sometimes not, and specials on their website don't always match what they have posted in restaurant. Oh, and the parking lot is not big enough for the lunch rush. Overall great spot though, and would recommend. read more

Been going here for years. Foods hit or miss. One week the fish(flounder) and chips is great! The next time not so much. Beware the fish(flounder), is not always what they say it is. The outside bar area is amazing!! They have a very large deck area with water misters and live music. Every Sunday is Grateful Dead tribute bands from 2-5. Today Dirty Head played. The bartender was really great and handled a lot of people. You can have the full food menu outside, too. Children and animals are allowed and I was very impressed by the scene. read more

Katy's is a great neighborhood bar in midtown. They have very friendly down to Earth bartenders and cheap daily drink specials. It's easy to fall into good conversations with the regulars and sooner than you think you might just become a regular yourself. There's always sports games on the TVs or live music/karaoke singers to watch. There are several indoor and outdoor seating areas as well as pool/ping pong tables. The kitchen pumps out hot food all day and also serves the bar side for most of the night. Food service is fast and I have honestly never had a bad meal here. Highlights include: The Ruben and Club sandwiches, chili cheese fries, cheesesteaks, homemade chips, and yes Jell-O shots. They've got awesome wing sauces too... The boyfriend always gets dry rubbed lemon pepper with a touch of melted butter, but my favorite so far was teriyaki mixed with spicy garlic SO good. We stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. It was our first visit to Katy's. We hit the jackpot. My wife was thinking she'd like a burger and wouldn't you know, they had half price burgers. They were fantastic! I had tots and she had onion rings. The tots were excellent. The onion rings were hand dipped in a really light batter that reminded me of Calabash style fry batter. I recently was introduced to Katy's by a friend who swears by the 5-9pm Tuesday 1/2 price deals. Since then, I have come back every Tuesday! The staff are all really nice- the owners are both around, pitching in when there is an overabundance of customers, and the wait staff are great (Laney takes such good care of us!)! I go with a regular group of friends and we are always pleased with the food and the service! Items I have enjoyed: - the onion rings - Boneless wings (garlic and Parmesan) - wings- spicy garlic (not spicy for anyone else who is a spice wimp like me) - shrimp wrap - chicken parm sandwich - every burger I have tried - mac and cheese - tater tots I have heard the fried oysters are absolutely incredible, so that's what I'll be trying next time I'm in! We ordered some fried pickles to start and there was an issue in the kitchen that resulted in what the waitress said was a small basket yet there was plenty for us since we were ordering meals. She still brought us a full second basket. One person in our party asked for recommendations which came in handy for all of us. I ordered the High Tide wrap which she said was one of her favs and it didn't let me down. The onion rings were lightly fried and kind of fell apart. Our food came out a little slow, but not so slow that we would complain, we had plenty of fried pickles to hold us over. I was impressed that the waitress gave us an explanation for the slowness. One of the orders was requested to have the condiments on the side and they made it wrong and had to fix it. She was sure to tell us if anything was cold to let her know and they would fix it. 7/28 - They were definitely busy for a Tuesday evening and service was slow. Ordered the Jack Parker Blvd burger and a side of onion rings. I loved the guac on the burger, which added more flavor to go along with the pepper jack cheese and cajan mayo. Of course I had to ask for mayo for my burger (completely obsessed with mayo) but it did take a while for it to come to the table. 8/1 - Ordered Jack Parker Blvd with tots. The place was packed again but service was definitely quicker this time. Not only did our waitress check on our table frequently but so did what I would assume was the manager as well. I went with my wife on a Friday night and it was pretty crowded with people from all age groups. The staff was very nice and we got our drink order quickly. Katy's is bigger than it looks with a whole outside seating area and the inside back area has 2 pool tables and a ping pong table. There are also a ton of TV's so it's great for watching sports. Karaoke started at 10pm and there was a long line of really good singers. Everyone there was so friendly and supportive of each other which made for a fun atmosphere. We ordered some late night French fries and they were really good. Being new to the area it was so great to meet such a welcoming group, we even exchanged numbers with a few people so we hopefully made some friends!
