Located in the old Stone Mountain area. It is definitely worth the trip. Homely and comfortable on the outside. But when inside there is an array of health products; personal care, general food, vitamins, herbs and minerals, water most importantly knowledgeable staff. Do not be intimidated ask any question to the staff they will share there knowledge as to the different brands available. I have purchased items for energy, immunity you name it and they have been very helpful. The prices range from low to high end. But compared to a hospital bill and the fact that we only have one body it's worth trying. And did I mention they have just about everything!!! read more

In some ways I am not surprised I am the first person to write a review because I have lived in Georgia for 12 years and visit Stone Mountain park weekly and didn't even know this place existed ... till I decided to make a detour and find some grub after a particularly chilly trail run. Imagine my surprise to see a health food store around the corner from the very unhealthy, but tasty, German restaurant. The pros: This is a pretty well-stocked health food store that leans more on the vitamin/natural remedy side, than the healthy and organic food side. Yes they have flax, chia, gluten-free options, Ezekiel bread, etc. But this is no Whole Foods or Sevananda - not even close. I also like the 10% off option when you buy a case of anything. The cons: It is frightfully expensive, especially for Stone Mountain/East DeKalb. I bought two boxes of flax-enhanced pasta (BOGO), two coconut waters and four protein bars ... and paid $31. Um, what? If this place really wants to improve their business - the owner said they've been there for five years - they need to lower their prices. Plain and simple. read more

Bad vibes. I got shady vibes from both he man and woman who work here. My mom felt bad energy from them, too. What topped it off for me is when I tried to buy a popular brand of fish oil, and they tried to convince me not to buy it and to buy another brand instead. So I pulled out my phone and googled the other brand. Nothing. I looked on the back and it said it was made for The Health Nut from some fish pill factory. Have they been tested? Are they approved for consumption? There's a lot that can go wrong with fish pills. You can't just sell some random product with no testing or proof of testing. The Health Nut is different than other health stores because of the individualized care shown to each customer. Ask for Gail when you arrive!!! She is extremely knowledgeable about many of the products & she will give you choices to fit your budget. They have numerous scents of Dr. Bronner's castille soap at an extremely reasonable price(compared to many other stores). My experience was surreal. Yes they have a lot of inventory but these people are avid anti-maskers and DO NOT believe COVID-19 is real. The lady who checked me out yelled at me that "THERE IS NO VIRUS, THIS IS JUST MADE UP MEDICAL FRAUD". That Covid is being made up to help BIG PHARMA...and to sell masks. My experience was fantastic. I pulled a back muscle earlier that morning lifting weights. Later met with a friend for lunch and still having pain. Driving home I passed The Health Hut. I turned around, parked my car to see if I could get some relief. I explained to the gentleman what happened. He instantly gave me a cream to put on my back. In less than 2 minutes I felt some relief. He also suggested taking something internally for the inflammation. I walked in bent over and walked out straight. I am so grateful for this experience. I went to The Health Nut a month ago and they were very helpful. The woman answered all of my questions & gave me a tour. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. I thought the jojoba oil and probiotics were expensive but they had smaller bottles as options for example. Although they were out of some choices, they do have another store in Alpharetta from which to order. It was inconvenient however because I don't live close so couldn't return quickly when the items would be in stock. read more

I purchased a discounted product on 12/28/19. When I got home, I saw the product expired on 6/29/19. I returned to the store today, 12/31/19, to get refund due to the expired date. The employee, who sold the item to me last Saturday, said all clearance sales are final. She further stated all of the items on the discounted table have expired dates, hence the discounted rate. She then said she told me this when I purchased. I assured her that she did not mention final sales and expired dates when I purchased the item. I then rescanned the table to try to find a posted sign stating final sale and giving notice of expired products for sale, there wasn't anything posted. I pointed this the employee then asked her to produce their policy. I was willing to go online. She said they didn't have a website and I would need to speak to the owner...who is out of the country in India for three weeks. I just wanted my refund of $19.44. Instead, due to an unwritten policy, I have to wait three weeks for the owner to address my issue. This was an unfortunate situation that could have been met with an easy solution. The Health Nut is one of the few businesses still in operation in the downtown Stone Mountain area. It's a staple. Needless to say, I will not return. read more

So, I just left the place - this was my second and last visit. They just started stocking food there this spring, so I went to check out the selection. The prices were higher than I expected, but I usually don't mind spending a little extra to support a local business. I planned to just pick up something convenient for lunch, and they had a sign up saying their frozen foods were buy one get one free. While I'd probably never purchase a single frozen pizza for $9.99, I figured buying two for that price wasn't so bad. At check out, however, the man rung up the pizza at $12.99. I told him that the sticker said the pizzas were $9.99, and he said that it's half off the "regular price." The sticker reads: "SRP $13.99... Our Price $9.99." From my experience, "SRP" stands for "suggested retail price" and is only listed on a tag to make "our price" look lower than what competitors are charging. So I flipped it over, pointed at the lower price, and asked, "You mean this is the sale price?" He said, "Yes, the regular price is $13.99, and I gave you both for $12.99." As far as I'm concerned, this is not how sale pricing works. I had gone to The Health Nut once before when I was sick, and I bought a $20 bottle of cold medicine - a formula you mix with juice - that was surprisingly effective. So I wanted to support this place, but I don't think I can any more. I'm all for supporting small local businesses and don't mind spending a little extra money so that an independent shop can stay afloat. But I don't like feeling taken advantage of, and I'm sure I can find another independent business that is more honest about its pricing. read more
