This was the first restaurant I had a sit-down meal in after moving to Jefferson. We came in unaware of their revised Covid hours, and they seated us just minutes prior to their earlier closing time. The manager took care of our table and was very pleasant. We ordered prime rib with French onion soups on he side. The soups were really good. The prime rib was a little overcooked for our order, but was still very good. Nobody at our table said anything about it, but the manager was concerned that they didn't have any left in medium rare, so he discounted our check and gave free desserts to all four people at our table. So, we were all impressed by the customer service. We will definitely be back! read more

Went here tonight for my moms birthday - everything was amazing. Our server was kind and prompt and helpful, the place was clean and very nicely decorated and the food was great. We had the duck poppers and mushrooms for apps - they were delicious! Everyone in our group of nine was very Happy with their meal - the burgers were done perfectly, the salmon was delicious, the wings were perfectly done. Horrible service! Called a to go order in on a Tuesday morning around 11:45 and was told 30 minutes it would be ready. Went to pick it up, and they looked at me like "what are you doing here already" They tried to tell me I was told 45 minutes. they did not get my orders out to me until 1:00pm!!! Still a long way from 45 minutes. I was late getting back to my office, and to top it off, the food was cold!!!!! Will never order lunch from here again. Had the same problem when I stopped there to eat. Very slow service, and cold food when it arrived. read more

The food was okay, but my wife and parents waited for an hour and half before we got our food. There were only two other couples in the restaurant waiting for food, who waited the same amount of time. While going to ask about the time on our food, I noticed that the crew in the kitchen were sitting around talking and joking around, which shows that they weren't taking the customers seriously and didn't care about the business. Wouldn't take my chances on waiting for mediocre food. read more

Fantastic fish fry, with many fish options including potato pancakes. Tiger shrimp had fantastic flavor. Everyone loved their cod and grouper. Servers were good but a bit slow, and it wasn't very crowded. Mixed drinks were a huge weak point though. Brandy Old Fashioneds, THE drink of Wisconsin Fridays, were very weak. My friend's Cosmo was so too strong and had barely any cranberry juice. Good beer selection and great ambience and river view, so the bartenders aren't going to stop me from coming back. In fact, planning to bike 10 miles there for Sunday breakfast soon. read more

Went here for a late lunch. Sign at the front said wait to be seated. Waited 5 minutes before anyone came. They sat us but gave us no menus. After about 10 minutes we tracked someone down and asked for menus. Mind you the place was not busy. One girl sat in the corner folding napkins the whole time. Very bad service. Food is good, but both times we've been there we had VERY slow service. It seems as if they don't have sections for their waitstaff but rather they just rotate who gets the next table making them have to run around the whole restaurant. Also, we were there on Friday nights when they apparently have a limited menu. Instead of having a separate Friday menu they just give you the full menu and tell you what you can have and can't have. read more

First the view, nothing much better in the area. Located along the Rock River, the restaurant has good visuals from the dining area and some very nice outside seating. Beer selection is pretty good and bartenders are knowledgable. Food is very good-my wife is NOT a mushroom lover but she loves their deep fried mushrooms for appetizer; likewise NOT a fish eater but enjoys the deep fried cod. And the soups-all homemade and the clam chowder is to die for! While the prime rib doesn't come out on a sizzle plate, it has a very rich, meaty flavor-to the point I rarely use the au jus. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that, as with many other restaurants, there is some turnover in the waitstaff so service is not always consistent read more

The food is delicious and staff is so friendly. I love the salmon prepared on a plank! The fact that the place is situated overlooking the Rock River makes for a nice atmosphere. The only reason I don't give five stars is there is no gluten free menu so we cannot invite one of our best friends who has celiac disease to dine with us. I just posted this same review on google. Went last night 4/7/17. It was noisier than expected but had a friendly environment. I ordered the mahi mahi special with mango salsa, my wife got the filet mignion. Her steak was undercooked (requested medium rare and it was darn near raw), the mashed potatoes that it came with were incredibly bland, almost beyond belief. My fish however was a whole different story. My fish was overcooked to the point of being slightly dry with the texture of overcooked chicken. It was under seasoned and wasnt even palatable without the salsa, which would normally not be a complaint if it had come with enough salsa to ensure each bite had some. The salsa was incredibly sweet. It was mango based but was paired with red pepper, green pepper and some red onion. The issue here is that the mango was sweet but as the sweet faded away you were met with the blandness of the fish and a harsh taste from the green pepper. The second star is for my server, she was lovely, but the food was an absolute disappointment especially considering I was paying $40 for an undercooked steak and terrible fish. I would not recommend coming here again also: My appetizer of bacon wrapped kielbasa wasnt bad, the soup was good and the salad was fresh, but my draft beer was warm so for me that is all kind of a wash. read more

The service was horrible and for not for the amazing food, it would have received only two stars. In reading other reviews, this seems to be a common occurrence. I had an amazing cup of clam chowder along with a great freshly squeezed vodka lemonade. It took over 30 minutes for our drinks and 50 minutes for our food. read more

Oh, wait, you didn't NOTICE it was a holiday, and people would be coming in? There was only one server, and a bartender, which isn't adequate even for a slow day at dinnertime. You know, people start coming in to eat at 5, right? I don't know if there is a personnel issue and people are quitting, or if the owner does not pay staff enough to cover the slow times, because $2.35 an hour isn't enough. It is 5pm, dinner time, there are several 4 tops, a few 2 tops, and the same outside. She is trying to cover ALL of it, with no busser (so dishes remained on table) and no hostess (so we waited to be seated). Owner must be too cheap and not care about burning his employees out, or keep his staff under 50 so he does not have to give health benefits. Finally, a busser came in, and it was obvious it was his first day, and the server was expected to TRAIN him, also- in addition to being slammed. Another server finally arrived. We had two large sandwiches and fries, plus two appetizers, some drinks, all fairly priced. Burger over cooked- I didn't send it back as it took too long already, and likely kitchen was slammed as not enough help there, also. I wanted mayo on it, it wasn't there- I would have be added some, though it was too busy to grab the server. Next time something like this happens, I swear, I will go to the bar or walk into the kitchen with my burger. The "famous" duck poppers that people go in for, the insides seemed a lot smaller. It just was annoying, not relaxing. I felt bad for the server, which is not a relaxing meal. It IS a beautiful setting, though we did not know the outside was open- we would have preferred to sit there, though we didn't know until we looked out the window. Grrrr. read more

We went for dinner tonight, after 50 minutes of waiting we decided to go somewhere else, it would have been understandable if they were busy but only 6 tables had people at them.....Drinks we're overpriced and wait staff didn't seem to have a clue, the bartender was running drinks to the dinning room for some reason. My Mom and I went for lunch on Thursday and had a great waitress named Megan. The building is beautiful right on the Rock River with outside seating. We had potato skins for appetizer which were fantastic; I had the Heron's Chicken and Mom the Triple Decker Club. Unfortunately both sandwiches were mediocre but FRIES were excellent. Our waitress Megan had multiple tables but was as attentive as she could be. We'll be back to enjoy the patio and hopefully the food will be better. read more

New business in old building. Building was completely remodeled after the 2008 flood. Building is very attractive, sits along the Rock River. Interior bar is large horseshoe style, offers about 6-9 taps, mostly standard bar taps (American lagers) with one or two micros (Lake Louie IPA as of 04/13/13). There is some selection of bottled beers. Dining room has very nice sight lines of the river. Limited menu at present since they just opened but the Friday Fish Fry is well worth the trip-in addition to usual cod, they have pan fried perch YUMM. There is usually an additional fish special depending on what is freshest from their supplier. Saturdays are also a good night-they have a Prime Rib special along with additional special. Last night my wife had the porterhouse special. It was done right, with a good meaty flavor. My prime rib was also done right (both medium rare) but it would be nice to have it on a "sizzle platter" rather than just a plate. Got cold too soon. The mushroom soup was good, with LOTS of button mushrooms-also had a good meaty, earthy flavor. Salads were good-right portion and lots of leafy lettuce-very LITTLE iceberg. Wife's french fries were delicious! Only complaint is the noise factor-lots of hard walls, floors so noise tends to bounce and echo. read more

Have been ordering take-out from them for lunch as I work nearby since maybe late September.. First time - not bad although person at register not able to use register. Had to wait quite a while as my food got cold. Second time - same thing but this time my "Potato Boats" were burnt but also cold from waiting. 3rd time, ordered a burger which was great and I was in and out of there quick even though I had to ask for ketchup. I thought "OK - first couple times were not typical so I ordered Potato Boats again and this time was charged a takeout fee and they were burnt again. Running short on time and they are convenient so I gave them another chance today, ordered a burger today, specifically asked for ketchup on the phone and it was not in the box when I got back to work. I had to leave work go back and get the Ketchup. My already cool burger and fries were awful when I got back and I have no microwave. And......Was again charged a take out fee and they tell me to make up for not giving me ketchup, I can have a double burger next time. Why would I want a double burger? Shame because its such a convenient location. Hope eating in is better as the place itself looks nice. read more
