Saturday 16 oz. Prime rib special
    Paul H.

Scary at first, very small bar & dining room facing the river. Reservations a must and make it early. Our server, gracious and attentive. Our meat perfectly cooked and seasoned. Menu is small so check it out on the website, subject to minor changes. This is a Supper Club, with typical Supper Club drinks. Will we make the 75mile trek here again? Heck yeah!

I've eaten twice at this cozy spot perched on the bank of the Rock River in rural Jefferson. It's not much to look at from the outside, but the food and atmosphere lives up to the "supper club" moniker. It's dark inside with a very low ceiling (watch your head) with lots of nooks and crannies including the picturesque "porch" area with about 8 tables and lots of windows with a view of the muddy river. We sat on the porch on our first visit and on our second, as we had six people we were in a "booth" which was more of an enclosed private room-vet private. The menu features all the traditional fare from steaks to fish. Having been disappointed by the lake fish fry on my first visit, I opted for the 8 0z. Tenderloin steak this time which was cooked to perfection. Entries come with a side-baked potato or wedges (steak fries) and a house salad with choice of dressing. At $48 this was a pretty good value. Be sure to try the cheese curds served with ranch dressing and you must save room for an ice cream drink-grasshopper, brandy Alexander, Cadillac or pink squirrel to finish things off. Service was a bit leisurely but as it was storming outside on our most recent visit,, we weren't in any hurry. The do take reservations if you call, but note like many spots like this the crowd tends to favor the early time like 5 or 5:30. We dined at 7 on both visits and were one of the last people there when we left around 8:30. A nice spot for a traditional Wisconsin dining experience.

A very cute lakefront restaurant that serves quality food. Everything was delicious, the lamb was the best. Our waitress was very funny and nice even when I accidentally tipped the wrong amount and had to redo the transaction.

A great fillet, and the steak fries were amazing!

The Edgewater is a charming place with outstanding prime rib on Saturdays. We had a marvelous dinner and the views of the river are beautiful. We all thought our waiter was outstanding, too. Our one concern, and for our group it was a major one, is that we were told the place was ADA compliant, and it was far from it. A member of our party had to be carried to two areas to get in and out. A portable ramp would do this place a lot of good. We felt a bit deceived.

Quaint little supper club, very dark and intimate. Food was amazing but I believe slightly overpriced.

Front of the house staff definitely needs more training. Not knowledgeable what-so-ever. Most likely will never be back.

It pains me to say, but after several years of great enjoyment at Whitewater's SPRING CREEK GOLF…read morecourse, those days are done. We learned that the course is under new management/ownership, and it shows. They either don't know how to make a course successful, or they don't care. Hopefully they just need some help. My sons and I are not strangers to great courses; much of my youth was spent at Exmoor, not far from my Glencoe home. After retiring 7 years ago, we made it our weekend mission to seek out exceptional par-3 courses in southern Wisconsin. That's when we found SPRING CREEK. Besides the challenge of the course, we were--and continued to be until recently--impressed with the pristine greens, the knowledgeable and friendly staff, the pride in ownership, and the vibe of the entire place. We started to see negative changes last year, which have been more noticeable this year. For starters, the greens need significant improvement. The bar and bathrooms are grungy. And sometimes, when we showed up, the staffing seemed to be short-handed. I don't want to knock college kids, but as employees they just don't seem to know what they're doing, and their frustration shows. Maybe coincidental, but the owner(s?) never seems to be on site when we are there, contrary to our experience over the previous years. There's too much focus on glitzy stuff, and not enough attention on the core basics. We've become friends with several long-time course players, all locals. They're growing frustrated, and some have called it quits. I hope the new management finds their mojo soon before it's too late. SPRING CREEK has a history of being an exceptional course, at least in our eyes. Maybe I'm being too critical, but I'm too old to sugar coat what we've experienced at this course. Golf is my passion, and life is too short to settle for mediocrity ... so, we are moving on. During my 22 years as a small business consultant and coach, I helped many companies recover. What was their common thread to success? Management hungered to improve. Best of luck, SPRING CREEK. Make it a special place again ... lots of folks are hoping so. David C.
