We were seated right away in a booth on a Friday night. We just ordered drinks, so won't be any help on the food. The bartender offered suggestions based on what we like to drink. We ordered the Kariyushi Club Cocktail to share ($29), not to share would be $15. Most of their drinks are $14-$16. The drink was more on the sweeter side, which isn't really my cup of tea. It has Japanese whiskey, passion fruit, yuzakosho, peach, lime and grapefruit. The place can probably hold about 15-20 people. Dimmed lighting. A little gem of a ramen noodle joint in downtown Greenpoint we discovered on our trip to the Sikorski Polish Meat Market to pick up a bunch of kielbasa and other goodies. Delicious noodles and broth along with various other ingredients provided for my delicious lunch. The DW had a lunch special fish plate which she really enjoyed. We started with some excellent pickled veggies. All in all, a nice find that we will return to again one day. read more

We got the Kariyushi to share. If you wait a little bit for the ice to melt, it tastes delicious. All drinks are definitely on the sweet side so if you're into that, this is a great spot for you. Service was great. We lucked out and were able to find a table to sit right away however, if you're unlucky you could definitely end up waiting a while. Loved the Hidden Pearl. Make sure you make a reservation since the space is small. I was able to make a same day reservation but you have to submit it through their website. We had the edamame, crispy tuna, soft shell shrimp (seasonal) & the bonito stomach. Everything was super fresh & tasted great. The cocktails were amazing and I didn't mind paying the $12/$14 price. We started with the Hai Sai! for two which was great with the food & had the Sanguine Sandía after we finished which made me think of a Bloody Mary but was much lighter in taste and had a lot of other flavors. The only thing I would not get again is the bonito stomach, I consider myself an adventurous eater and figured this was the place to try this traditional Japanese dish. It was extremely salty, but that's common for this dish. It was prepared beautifully and was fresh but just not something I personally enjoyed. If you like bonito stomach I recommend ordering it. Overall, a great experience. The wait staff was super informative and service was fast. I wouldn't recommend coming here looking for a full meal but all the food they have is great and if you're hungry you can go up front to the restaurant and eat after your cocktails & tapas. read more

Very much enjoyed the coziness of this spot. Had been to wanpaku for ramen before and discovered the bar in the back and vowed to return. It probably seats 20 people total, but they serve a delicious medley of goodies from the ramen spot (salmon crisp and pork buns being my fave) and they're drinks are not only flavorful but strong! My partner made reservations on a weekend night at this Japanese cocktail bar. It's really small and it's in the back of a ramen shop in Williamsburg. Seats maybe 15-20 people, lots of plants and wood, a small ceiling window. They do about twenty cocktails and have a nice shelf of Japanese whisky. The owner of the hidden pearl also has Donna in Williamsburg. We've been to Donna before and enjoyed their drinks and food. My knowledge of cocktails are slim, liquor in general. The bartender was knowledge and helped out with flavors that I'd possibly like. The drinks were good, though I think the dead rabbit is my favorite place for cocktails. Came across this bar on Google Maps while hanging out near by. At first, the bar is difficult to find because it's at the back of Wanpaku but once you get there, it's beautiful! A dreamy little Japanese tropical cocktail bar, with tall ceilings and an airy skylight. The cocktails are fresh and vibrant, some of the most flavorful I've had in a while. As someone who visits a lot of cocktail bars, this one is intimate, inviting, and worth a visit. Japanese bites in the bar and a ramen shop up front leave no hunger unsatisfied. I stopped in for a refreshing beverage after taking a long walk through Greenpoint on a hot, hot day. The bartenders, Luke & Rachel, were super friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the Nilsson Schmilsson (LOL), a tall, cool drink with gin, coconut, yuzu & lime. Delicious! Than I had the soft shell shrimp- with the shell & the heads on- you guys! The heads are the best part! On their recommendation, I had the Sanguine Sandia (like a lighter Bloody Mary) with the shrimp. Came here for a quiet evening for some light snacks and drinks. Hidden Pearl is, "hidden", behind a restaurant. Walk in, head to the back, and open the door that says Hidden Pearl. The vibe is casual and cozy, great music was flowing through the speakers, and wasn't packed on a Saturday evening so it was nice to just get drinks and catch up with friends. I was recommended to get the Kariyushi Club Cocktail which had Japanese Whiskey, passion fruit, yuzu kosho, peach, coconut, lime, and grapefruit. It wasn't sweet but definitely fruity which was more delicious than I expected! For food, I ended up getting the crispy rice with spicy tuna as well as the fries with the spicy mayo sauce. While the menu is pretty limited in terms of food, everything ended up tasting great. my boyfriend took me here after dinner for some cocktails which were excellent However while we were in the back speak easy room with the bar I felt something on my arm at which at first I thought was a fly. I moved my arm to get it off and a baby/ medium size ROACH flew on the table. I ran to the bathroom to wash my arm. And had to run out of the restaurant I was so disgusted. I had a whole cocktail left and he'd just ordered another cocktail himself but was so disgusted I had to just leave and he got the check and paid and we left. I had their signature Tiki cocktail, which was very expensive (around $20 with tax & tip) I would say it was worth it for the presentation, the flavor profile & I did catch a buzz so there's that lol. We came here after dinner and found the small bites menu here to be a lot more interesting than the ones offered in the actual restaurant. Fun cocktails that gravitate toward tropical/tiki flavors with a staff that's lovely and great at explaining the different drinks. A few classic Japanese highballs on offer, and of course, some sake and whiskies. Atmosphere is relaxing and airy, bartender changes the music on a record player every little bit. Nice date space! The most horrible experience I've ever had in a bar. My friends and I ordered cocktails, choosing one of the liquors listed on the menu to have them prepared with. Since it didn't specify how much of it was going to be used on one cocktail, we decided to ask the waitress to explain the bill to us, since it was unusually high. She said she'd go ask and then proceeded to tell another waiter who, in turn, stared at us and started laughing derisively. We decided to ask the bartender (who had already been extremely curt and unfriendly) and they treated us as if we were stupid for even asking. Both the waiter and bartender started saying that if we didn't want an expensive drink we shouldn't have ordered one. I, obviously, gladly pay however much what I order costs but customers have a right to understand what it is they are paying for. It's hard not to think that race played a role in their unexplainable rudeness (at one point we were asked to just pay the bill and not to leave a tip because they "didn't want our money anyway") because, sadly, one can usually tell when it does. I've never felt this mistreated; all because we wanted out bill clarified. read more

Space is cozy and we found seats at the bar right away. We just got drinks, but they serve tapas style plates too. The staff was very helpful in helping me decide between some drinks. I got the JBS (Gin, Pear Brandy, Dry Vermouth, Ginger, Shiso, Lemon, Seltzer). Great presentation and yummy. My friend got The Windrush Generation (White Miso Infused Bourbon, Jamaican Rum, Amaro Nonino, Banana, Castilian Bitters) and liked it a lot because it was strong. 4 stars are that the acoustics of the room was very loud and sometimes not easy to hear my friend who was sitting next to me. It was very awkward, and he made us feel like we had to leave. Even though we sat at the end of the bar and were minding our own business, and being very unassuming. The whole episode made us feel very uncomfortable, and spoiled our evening. I would not recommend going here, I was very confused by the treatment we received.
