Although the ticker prices were easy on the pocket, make sure you aren't in the mood for theater munchies. We had seats C12 & 13 but come to find out the seats only go up to 12 so it was a fiasco having people get up move down from our seats. We ordered a medium popcorn and a fountain drink, you are forced to order from the app and they you are charged a fee for doing so. If you want butter on the popcorn there's an additional charge!!! When it came, the popcorn was ice cold so was the butter...so don't expect hot buttered popcorn here! The seats are not too old but they are already in despair and when I reclined the chair was a little catttwampus and the seat was lacking fill. Right before the movie was to start the fire alarm went off and we were never instructed what to do so everyone stayed planted so thank God it wasn't for real fire. However through all this the company was great, (I went with my wife), and the movie and production was good! read more

My friends and I arrived a little late to see Freakier Friday and because we did not arrive by the 1:00 start time, we were told we could not see the movie. We weren't asking for a discounted rate or anything. We were there ready to pay full price for a ticket and food knowing we would miss a small portion of the movie in the beginning due to our tardiness. Mind you, we had driven an hour to get there and had a friend who was visiting who lived 3.5 hours away give up a few hours of her 2 day trip near Vidalia to see the movie with us. It was extremely disappointing and I think they need to put a disclaimer on their webpage stating that if you're going to be late, you will be turned away. We knew we were going to be late, so had we known we'd be turned away, we would have never wasted time driving an hour there and an hour back home. read more

We enjoyed a free movie and it was awesome because I thought it was $2 a person. My nephew, niece, and I loved the movie. The food was delicious the service was lovely. I'm afraid the delivery was poor though. In the special requests section I asked for a fork and knife, and ketchup/mustard for my meal and theirs, including ketchup for the fries. I got one packet of ketchup/mustard in mine, and none in theirs. I also had to walk out and ask for a fork and knife. Lastly, on the order section I didn't check the onion box and I had onions on my hamburger. I'm glad I don't have a food sensitivity to onions. (The point is the small but specific details were overlooked when there wasn't a bustling crowd to justify) Other than that, the facility was clean, comfortable, and we enjoyed our experience. This afternoon me and 10+ of my family members went to see Wicked. I ordered a few items from the menu while there. One of those was a pineapple slush as my oldest son always likes pineapple stuff. When they bring our concessions out they bring my son a strawberry slush. They said "I'm sorry but we're out of pineapple." No problem, I then asked that they just give me a refund because he wanted a pineapple slush. The girl says "Oh I'm sorry but we don't give any kind of refunds." My reply is simply, "but this isn't what I ordered so I shouldn't have to pay for it and you take it back, I won't keep it." She still can't offer any refund. Ok.... I come up with another solution-- my son said he'd like chicken Alfredo. So I tell the girl "Why don't you just apply that $6 towards the Alfredo and I'll give you another $4 and we'll just get him the chicken alfredo instead." I'm then told that the food and drinks are charged separately and they can't do this either. All the time I'm trying not to say this--- "That is not my problem." Somehow this still ended up being my problem tonight as we were forced to keep the slush we did NOT order or simply receive nothing at all for a $6 charge that I paid. Staff members and the manager both came out to tell me the same things (meanwhile this is interrupting my viewing of Wicked). I was irritated but didn't take it out on the staff there as they are only doing what they were instructed to do. However and unfortunately, this owner of this business has not given his/her employees any other resources to navigate simple issues (like this) that may arise. A "manager" who can't offer a refund or comp. something isn't a manager at all. That's simply an employee with a different name tag. I think this owner doesn't trust his employees further than he can spit (otherwise they'd have some abilities to provide refunds and similar). He/she must think the manager/staff is incompetent and/or will steal. I hate that something so simple (which I had 2 different solutions for) became a problem for me today. I hope this review helps to make The Historic Strand realize they have a problem (or a few) themselves. I have no plans to attend this establishment again as simple resolutions can't be made on these premises. My advice: proceed with caution and at your own monetary risk -- as I felt completely swindled today. read more

A super cute "old" theatre redone with awesome recliners and great food. They have 3 screens and a lot of food choices. They even sell adult beverages. I loved the funnel cake fries but I wish it had more sugar, especially with the price. I think they should only cost 4.50 but.... The staff was very sweet and helpful. The bathroom is small but adequate and clean. It would be cute to visit when traveling through. read more

Used to LOVE this place but I don't know if it's under new management or not but it has drastically changed. Huge price hikes, overpriced and lukewarm food and TERRIBLE customer service. We tried to rectify a simple mistake and were met with condescending owners and staff blamed for mistakes that they were not trained to avoid nor fix. We're deeply disappointed that the one old fashioned place we had left to us has now rolled over unto the side that advocates for the death of customer service. We won't be back and are honestly sad to say so. read more

After years of going and spending over $100 each time on food alone they refused to allow a 15 year old to enter and watch a PG rated movie even accompanied by someone over 18. Never been in trouble there and never caused a disturbance anywhere. According to the manager on duty, that is the policy of Mr. Hickox, the owner and he doesn't even allow his young child in there because it is not a family friendly environment. Obviously if the owner doesn't feel it is family friendly you should not either. Tickets were already purchased, and they would not refund the money. read more

Recently renovated cinema featuring reclining seats with trays for the optional food service. We loved the "old" feel of the theatre while enjoying the modern updates. There is a wide selection of food available. Although there is only one screen at this time, they are adding 2 more screens. We drove almost an hour to come here for a movie, and we will be doing it again! read more

Worst experience ever at The Historic Strand in Jesup. The movie cut off before the end credit scene, yes this was a Marvel/Sony movie. Then decided to use the restroom before traveling back home only to get insulted and accused of coming in off the street to just use the bathroom by the lady at the ticket podium by saying "Maybe next time you could actually watch a movie." What does that even mean? I spent $75 to not watch the entire movie and be insulted. Will I go back to the Strand? The answer would be a Hell No! read more

Exceptionally friendly, warm, welcoming, clean and cheerful environment! The staff is so unbelievably welcoming and friendly! My daughter had disability causing difficulty in walking. The young man manning the ticket counter walked alongside her the whole way to her seat. He was so sweet and caring!! This is our favorite place to watch a movie! LOVE IT!!!!! read more

Good seats! Staff very questionable three times to sit us in correct seats! Popcorn was good on top but burnt popcorn from the middle to bottom of bucket! Interruptions the whole movie from food and drink staff (they just in middle of screen like they're glass). It's crazy confusing for a first time experience! read more

Fantastic experience! The seats are VERY comfortable and the food overall tastes pretty good (the big popcorn I got had a tad bit too many kernels in it). The drinks are a good size and the employees have a very nice/vintage-feeling uniform. Parking can be difficult, however, since they don't have an official parking lot. read more

Growing up in Appling County, this was the theater my family and I almost always came to for movies since it was the closest. I saw so many classics from the 80's and 90's there. I've moved away now and was sad that for years when I would visit my parents, this theater had closed. However, while visiting this weekend, I discovered the theater is now back open. My son and I decided to drop by and see a movie while we were in Jesup. I am so very glad we did. The renovated theater is fantastic! It is so pleasant to see such a fixture of my childhood back and better than ever. The reclining seats are very comfortable with ample space between aisles. The upgraded screen, projector, and sound make for a terrific experience. My son and I stuck to the traditional Coke and popcorn and, coming in just in time for the movie, didn't have time to really study the impressive food menu. However, on the way out, I stopped to take a look and was excited to see lots of true dinner options at relatively reasonable prices (more expensive than you might find at a fast-food place, but cheaper than most eat-in theaters I've attended in big cities). And they still have the Ring-Pops I always got as a kid. :) Plus, they've managed to reclaim space in their building to add a third screen to the original two. I'm certain we'll be back to try some of the food options and to enjoy more movies. Visiting the Strand yesterday was such a pleasant treat. I've bragged to my friends and family and encouraged them to go, and I would encourage anyone else to check it out as well! read more

This has to be the most unknowledgeable staff and ownership operation I've ever seen in my life .We get there at 9:20 for a 9:30 movie, they call out that the movie is starting .I show them our tickets(3) they put us into the 9:45 movie. Twenty minutes into the movie they came and made us get up and took us to another theater,which is 30 minutes into the movie,On their mistake it cost me $30 because they would not refund my money and even the receptionist( the ticket seller) said that it was their fault .The owner came out and said it was our fault because we were late. It plainly State's on my tickets that I bought them at 9:20, and he tried to say that I was late when I bought the tickets,even though his staff showed him on my ticket and told him that I was not after the cutoff time for the movie at 9:30. And he yelled at that young lady and she got in trouble for telling the truth! The owner has absolutely no respect for the people that come to his establishment.. and just so you know, you cannot seat yourself ,I know what some of you are thinking why didn't I just go into the theater,it doesn't work that way there, they have to call you and seat you themselves and they did seat us but in the wrong theater in someone else's seat which also they had sold twice, there were three people sold the same seat tickets. read more
