Clean and spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and very friendly staff! The onsite bar was a nice addition that kept the guys entertained most of the night. I was able to order meals at the bar and take back to the room for the jet-lagged, cranky teenagers to eat. We were only able to stay 1 night, but it was a great stay! read more

Great place to spend the night. Walls are a little thin but they keep the heat in just fine. Staff did an excellent job of making me feel welcome. There restaurant had tasty food and (again) friendly service. Yes, the hotel might be a tad dated with a scratched surface here or there but all in all a good stay. Would recommend. read more

Stayed one night here. Rooms are simple and small amd lots of outlets to charge your electronics. The Tubs in the shower are oddly angled so careful since slipping is quite easy to do. The wifi cuts in and out and is a reason why i give it 3 stars. The breakfast is tasty and the best part of my stay. read more

Desperate place. Woken up at 3:20am by a bunch of loud obnoxious culchies pissed off their faces shouting and screaming. Following complaints we were subjected to threats and intimidation by the group and racist remarks were made towards my partner being asian. The night manager offered us a meaningless apology followed by an excuse on behalf of the group. Nothing was done about the anti social and racist behaviour and remarks and we spent the entire norning sat in reception nackered tired and unable to return to our room due to the group who had congregated in the room next to us who continued drinking and partying until daylight. We demanded a refund or partial refund and were refused. Wont be coming here again!!! read more

As with anywhere in Ireland, the staff were friendly, patient with questions, happy to share advice on where to visit in the area, and welcoming to my visiting family. I respect the dedication to energy conservation, as you had to use your key to turn on lights in the sleeping space and in the bathroom. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable for the weary traveler. It is about a 20 minute walk outside of town centre, and we definitely had trouble finding it, even with the directions that I copied straight from the website. It is off the beaten path in an industrial / shopping section of town. Other than the friendly staff, there was no energy or vibrancy to the location or to the hotel itself. It served its purpose of offering a solid place to sleep and bathe, but it lacked any other charm or energy. Given the number of B&Bs available, I am not sure I would choose a hotel again. That is not to say that the Aspect Hotel did anything really wrong. I do just prefer the personal nature of the B&B instead. read more

However, we didn't find out til the end of our breakfast they do offer scramble eggs.. You just have to request them. They put out sunny side up on the buffet. Cons The decor. Kind of dingy and does not have any energy. Elevator had missing buttons. Tea pot was dirty. Had not been cleaned out since the last person(s) that stayed. Notes Even though there is lots of parking, it's hard to find the entrance. Came here for a small meeting/conference. Had breakfast in the pretty soulless restaurant in the lobby on arrival. Adequate and quickly forgotten. Meeting room was fine, the projector worked and the coffee/tea were ok. We took soup and sandwiches over lunch in the room which was delivered, as was the coffee, briskly by the efficient housekeeping staff and was as good as expected. It's a motel so expectations weren't particularly high in the first place! It was also reasonably priced compared to similar offerings in Dublin. More than happy to recommend for that purpose. Overnight visitors seem to have had a more negative experience but this review refers to the conference facilities only. read more

Certainly not an actual 5-star establishment, but rather an exemplary budget hotel with a deceptive appearance. The rooms are totally acceptable, certainly not anything particularly special, but totally comfortable, clean, quiet and friendly. Great price for a family room ($100) with a 3 course dinner for 4 and a breakfast buffet. Check in was great, the room was spacious with a comfortable double bed and 2 twin beds. The only complaint about the room is that they need to regrout the tub area sometime soon. The front desk agent was nice enough to bring extras pillows and was very friendly. Dinner was absolutely delicious! Be warned though, skip lunch because the portions are large! The menu is different than what they have listed on their website. Our choices for the main course were either a pork, chicken or salmon dish. You could also get a steak for $4.50 euros extra. A quarter bottle of wine was included for each adult and the kids got soda bottles. The main highlight was Ian who has to be one of the hardest workers I've every seen! He worked in the dining room as well a the bar and literally never stopped rushing back and forth to take care of around 25 guests. He was very professional and the service was excellent! The reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is that I thought breakfast could have been a bit better and we had an unpleasant exchange with the younger male desk agent that worked the evening shift. Lastly, just be aware that they are a couple of miles from downtown. Parking downtown is free after 6pm, but you can also take their preferred taxi for 8 euros. The non preferred taxi charges 11 euros for 2 adults, so definitely use theirs if you aren't driving. read more

I think the "meh" about sums it up. The hotel is outdated. The carpets desperately need to be replaced and the elevator sounds like it's going to drop you at any moment. The room was just okay and the staff was as well. Breakfast was another big reason that this review is only two stars. The eggs were horrible and nothing was fresh. We were booked here on our 10 day tour of Ireland for two nights. While I loved the city of Kilkenny I would run in the other direction if a travel deal ever booked us here again. Stay away! Rotten stinking carpets and hooligans all over the place. In the bar area, partying at 4 in the morning, slamming doors, shouting, swearing and knocking every door trying to remember their rooms felt just like a dormitory. Location also in an industrial area. The bath / shower is terrible and awfully small. Never never stay in this horrendous hotel. It's very similar to a Days Inn property in the U.S. Only worse! read more

Not sure why anyone left a bad review. My friend and I got booked here through living social and the hotel people told us where to go out and have a fun night and were very helpful. The room was nice and everything was clean. There was a group of guys there who were on a bachelor party or stag party as they call it there and they were very nice. I noticed a comment below about racist remarks about an Asian...I'm asian and not once for the week i was there did I ever hear a single racist comment...I think i got more attention because of it to be honest.. Everyone we met in Kilkenny was extremely nice. Very cool party scene. Definitely the scene for 20-30's although we saw people all ages out. We did not partake in the hotel breakfast since it wasn't complimentary. We figured we would explore Kilkenny more and try breakfast there and I think that was the better choice. Yes, you can hear some people being loud and rowdy but Kilkenny seems to be the Vegas of Ireland ....and the Irish drink...A LOT..so i honestly think if anyone has a problem with this, you should either not travel to Ireland or find a hotel in a much quieter town. Anywhere you travel, earplugs are the best thing you can bring with yourself because if it does get too loud, at least you can block all that out and not have to rely on the front desk to quiet down some drunk young people. We left some important documents when we left and they tried to contact us all day (we didn't have a roaming plan) they held on to it for us and faxed it over when we got to our next hotel. and held on to it for us till we could come and get it back. Touted by my tour company as being a quick walk to the heart of the city and it is if you consider 20 minutes at a brisk pace a quick walk. I had hopes of something better than your typical traffic circle hotel. Fairly bare bones with beds that seemed okay at first but proved uncomfortable. The corners of the bathroom were icky and there were odd stains and, um. .. traces of the previous occupant. Cleanliness is something that can be achieved in even the most basic hotels. read more

I think it was a redone days inn but they did a decent job. Still had a motelish feel but overall the staff made the stay great here in Kilkenny. A bit of a walk to town but we braved the cold and had a nice stroll to town. This was my first time visiting Ireland and the people at the hotel and the town made our stay great! Very welcoming. We did have a ghostly occurrence when we came back to our room the first night found the light fixture broken on the floor and when we informed the front desk the guy seemed creeped out which made us creeped out haha. This hotel was very nice inside; however, it's housed at a shopping mall, which was disappointing. I've never been to Ireland before and didn't realize I'd be in a place so devoid of any character. Also, I stayed on the first floor, and there was a loud noise from some kind of machine that would go on and off throughout the night that disrupted my sleep. If you stay here, be careful about which room you get. If you're not concerned about location or overall ambiance, it was good for the price. And I guess the bonus of being located in a mall is that there is a lot of free parking available. read more

We were blessed with the room at the end of the hall, so we didn't hear much. The problem is with no a/c-fan system in the room, there is no noise filtering. You hear everything! The hotel was hard to find, as there are no street numbers anywhere in Ireland and the page we printed up with our voucher had a picture of the castle....not being Irish...we believed we were looking for a castle. That may be obvious to the locals, but it isn't to the non-locals. Front desk was very nice and the breakfast was an average Irish breakfast. read more

leaving this review specifically because of the staff- one of the receptionists was not very polite, kind of seemed as though she didn't care much about her job... the first bartender we interacted w/ at the bar took a very long time to get to us and was so impatient when taking our drink&food orders, constantly fidgeting, no eye contact, kept interrupting us when asking questions- even rolled his eyes and let out an exasperating sigh. i understand that he was probably under a lot of stress, with the restaurant being busy and all but we hadn't even been talking to him for five minutes and it wasn't like we were asking very hard questions? he just seemed very impatient, and not very friendly. we asked to have our food to go so we could take it to our room (as they do not offer room service) and they gave us a tray w/ all of our food on it, but it was a little heavy and hard to carry without things sliding, so we asked for an extra tray. the girl standing behind the post (i'm assuming the hostess?) said we had to ask our server for it, and when we did he pulled a tray from underneath the post that she was standing RIGHT in front of. it literally would've taken her 2 seconds to hand it to us because she wasn't doing anything else and by then the restaurant had calmed down. i was not impressed w/ the customer service here. not all staff were disappointing though, there were 2 receptionists working the night shift and they were very accommodating and cheerful. the house cleaning crew was also very polite :) we ordered the steak, and it was only okay. went back to the bar later and there was a new bartender who wasn't as rude, thank goodness. but because of that first experience, i don't think i'll be coming back here. no complaints w/ the hotel rooms itself. would've been a worse experience if i hadn't made a friend while staying there. all in all, solid 3/5! read more
