I cannot recommend this gem of a spot high enough! From the dazzling and diversified menu to the robust selection of spirits, any appreciate will find delight. The space is GORGEOUS with a focus on modernism infused with equal parts past and present. But what made our visit so memorable was the ridiculously friendly and attentive staff. Within moments of arriving Shelby gave us a guided tour, and then Amanda, Camden, Tracy and the rest of the staff came over to say hello and ensure our experience exceeded expectations. Service was okay. A bit slow and inconsistent but friendly. We'd get five people stopping by to check on things but no one actually bringing anything to the table. Side salads that never came and ended up getting boxed up at the end of dinner because they were still forgotten after numerous asks. Menu that was published the month prior to us going had changed. No more vegan options and very limited vegetarian options. This was a major let down to me as I had only saw the menu published upon reopening.l and was excited. Asked if chef could make something. Server came back and said "I didn't really get an answer. You can get this and take half the things off of it..." no thanks! I don't want half a dish... literally just take ingredients already on hand for other dishes and have one actual vegan option available. The bar side has a nice ambiance! We were not on that side but in a room by ourselves called "the chefs table" eh, wouldn't want to sit in there again. Best part was the drinks. The lavender martini was delicious! Smokey margarita also good. Every drink seemed to have a dried orange slice in it which was odd and unnecessary. Overall, food was okay, service not good, and drinks great. Just stopped in and met the manager and hand crafted ice cream sculptor named Duane. Blueberry cobbler and fresh peach cinnamon cobbler are their current seasonal popular ice cream scoops. The handmade chocolate Shoub cookie dough was a hard decision to leave for next time, along with the captain crunch ice cream which just seems like something you should save for a cheat day. I ended up with a trio with the blueberry cobbler and the peach cobbler which he drizzled with homemade reduced caramel sauce that I watch to make in a pan in steam off. In the third scoop I added to the party was some handmade pecan pie ice cream. I would have to say personally that was my favorite. The caramel sauce on top of it was absolute overkill. You won't leave this place wanting or unfulfilled. Looks like they've taken over four different slots on Miss LIMA's main drag close to the convention center. They've got it in rehabbed not only Basinger's and another location next-door with a torn out wall door, that ends up being the microbrewery. But the next two doors down have been combined to be the restaurant and ice cream shop. They're open for business right now and also making homemade cinnamon rolls every morning which you can pick up at 12 PM when the doors open. They melt a fresh butter cream topping over those when you walk out the door. Don't let them last too long I'm sure there's one with your name on it! read more

Excellent meals. Some were big enough to split, which we do often. Service was very good. Atmosphere was superb both inside and out. Absolutely amazing! Went for dinner and will definitely be back! The Hollander Salad is to die for! Got the dressing on the side and didn't even need dressing. The salmon OMG! Get it! Cooked perfectly and the pesto was so yummy! Brussels sprouts were AWESOME! Pizza was delicious as well seriously can't go wrong! I really really wanted the food to be good, gave them another shot and it was an epic fail. My entree, macaroni with bacon was cold in the middle and flavorless. I had them reheat it in the oven, unfortunately that doesn't help with lack of flavor. My dessert, the cookie pictured above was burnt, I had ice cream on it and I think they tried to strategically place the ice cream to cover it, but it was bad. I picked out the parts I could, but it's all I could taste and smell. There is no way they didn't know it was burnt when they brought it out. I desperately wanted it to be good, we need good food in Lima. read more

Two of us went in Fri evening before the rally. We each ordered a salad . The salad was served on tiny 6" square plates. My salad had ingredients and chips that needed to be mixed in but couldn't be as they were falling off onto the table. When the waiter came by I asked for a bigger plate so I could mix my salad but I already had lost a good portion of it to the table. There wasn't much there to start with. This was a big loss to a person on a diet. My friend ordered a molten lava brownie dessert and got a tiny paper cup of chocolate ice cream instead. Took s friend there for lunch yesterday. She ordered a wrap i ordered a cheeseburger. The meat in my burger should have been throw away two days ago. One bite told me it was food poisoning waiting to happen . I checked with my friend who tasted it as well just to make sure. And she agreed. They did not charge me for it. A great place for breakfast in Lima! We had a party of four and three ordered the Two Egg Breakfast. A sensible choice - look at what you get: Two eggs, choice of meat, choice of potatoes, AND choice of two pancakes or toast. I had the French Toast Breakfast Sandwich with home fries AND an extra (not included) order of two pancakes. Trust me...that was way too much. The pancakes were fully five stars. Delicious. And big! But my french toast sandwich wasn't as good. While I picked it up and ate it as a sandwich, I'm not sure it was designed to be eaten that way. I think that sandwich is fork food...to be covered in syrup. What I wanted was a simple breakfast sandwich with meat, egg, maybe cheese on toast. Why isn't that on the menu? While I don't doubt if I had asked for one it would have arrived on my plate (real plates, by the way), that's a pretty basic and easy to prepare breakfast offering that shouldn't have to be special ordered. And speaking of menus...how in 2017 does this place not have an online menu? Not acceptable. Everyone but me ordered the hash browns (diced) instead of home fries (shredded). Possibly I have those two definitions mixed up so I've described them. Someone asked if onions were included in the potatoes, the answer was no but could be added, so everyone ordered their browns with onions. But they also came with peppers. So I don't know if asking for onions also means peppers as well, or if peppers come standard without onions. No mention of peppers or onions is made on the menu so if you want diced potatoes only...better ask for them that way to be safe. Also I tasted the diced potatoes and liked them better than my shredded potatoes. The Hollander is easy to find with free parking right outside the door! Prices, while more than Happy Daz, are not at all high for the quality and quantity and frankly were less than expected. Always a nice surprise! Service was attentive and excellent. Regarding the decor, while I liked the exposed brick walls somehow the blue chairs didn't fit...my first thought the blue was chosen because they must have been clearance priced. Overall, was pleased with our breakfast and can happily recommend. Everyone else rated their breakfasts four or five stars. And isn't it great to see somebody finally making an effort to bring some business downtown? read more

Not impressed for the cost. Decor in the dining room was quite sparse and empty looking. My husband ordered chicken tenders and they looked and tasted like ordinary frozen tenders you can buy at the grocery store. I ordered a small pizza and it came with kalamata (Greek) olives not black like I ordered. No offer to switch them out when asked about the difference. Too bad because Lima needs some new and distinctive dining establishments. Will probably not return any time soon and we eat out a lot. read more

Had lunch on Wednesday The outdoor Patio was very pleasing and the service was very good. This was not my first time dining at Hollanders. I had been there on two previous occasions. the first time I tried the fish dinner. It was bad, I could see no difference between that and what I might get at any fast food restaurant, thick breading and no flavor. The next time I tried the Margarita Pizza. It was served burnt to a crisp. They did offer to make a new one. On Wednesday I ordered the ghost chicken wrap. It sounded good, blackened chicken, special peppered ghost spread, black beans etc. The chicken was not blackened and tasted like it was just taken from the freezer and microwaved, the ghost spread had no flavor. Like many restaurants in Lima, all the emphasis seems to be on creating a pleasing atmosphere but failing badly when it comes to hiring people to prepare the food. There is a big difference between a cook and a Chef. Hollanders needs to hire a Chef. I'll return when they do. read more

The price is high for the quantity and quality of food. There was not many people when we dined yet it took a very long time to get our dinners.
