Service was great, the food was quick and yummy, they even catered to my food allergies. I highly recommend popping in whether you are a local or passing through town.

What's better than pizza, wings and beer? Beer Barrel was absolutely clutch with a pizza and wings special. 14" two-topping and a solid pound of hot buffalo wings for $20? Yes, please and thank you. Double pepperoni on thin crust did just the trick. I'm a sucker for wings, especially perfectly golden and crispy. Cynthia was amazing; constantly checking in on us but also giving us space to eat, drink and converse.

I was in town for business and always try to avoid national chain restaurants. I noticed the parking lot was full when I drove by at 630 on a Monday night so decided to give it a try. I chose wisely. Caiden, my server, was one of the best I've EVER had anywhere in my many decades of adulthood & travel. He was super friendly, attentive & polite. And the BBQ shrimp tacos he recommended were phenomenal. Topped it off with a "Grasshopper"(?) IPA from a Toledo brewery (I prefer hoppy, not fruity). The place was clean and service was quick, too. Definitely a 5-star experience! I'll be back while I'm in town!

A five star review from me does not come easily. I'm not a jerk or anything it's just that I have to have a place to put those restaurants that I thoroughly enjoyed and this Beer Barrel Pizza and Grill location fits that category. During my six day Lima, OH visit, I went there twice so far and will go there a third time before I head home if I can. There are three Lima locations but they have spread to a few more locations including one in Hilliard, a suburb of Columbus. If they can make it there, sky's the limit! The parking was great. All of the spots, even the crappy ones, were close to the door and no steps or curbs for those who have accessibility needs. When we walked in we were greeted right away by a friendly face who sat us immediately even though the place was packed...and it was only 5:30 PM. We were sat in a spacious booth that was perfectly clean with all the condiments you could ever want right at your finger tips without taking up too much of your table space. The pub was cavernous and checked all the boxes. High timbered ceilings, brick accents, huge TVs that you could see several of them from any seat jn the house and a huge U shaped bar. It was also nice that the foyer was cleverly placed out of view from the rest of the dining room avoiding distractions and likely cold bursts during the winter. Our waitress (can we still say waitress?) was new but obviously well trained and friendly. She got our drinks super quick which had plenty of ice which is ideal unless you have a server who never refills but we did not have that issue at all. She was bringing refills before we even had the chance to ask. Yes, that actually happens at some places and here was one of them. She was patient with us when it came to taking our order and had to come back twice while we tried to decide. Her words were never truer than when she said, "That's okay, take your time. It's a big menu." It is a huge menu with choices from pizza to fish to burgers to wings to Tex Mex to Italian. Almost overwhelming and I am always suspicious of big menus because most places with huge menus actually only do a couple things well. I don't think that is the case here based on my limited experience. We went with some of the signature dishes and so glad we did because we were totally impressed. As an appetizer, we chose the pretzel sticks and "Beer Cheese". Oh Nelly, that homemade signature beer cheese was the best I have ever had in a world where every pub seems to have a version. But not like this. The cheese is made with beer, cheddar, cream cheese, garlic and other ingredients that give it a lovely unique flavor that makes you want more. You gotta try it. My wife got the Rueben with hand cut fresh fries. Thick corned beef, thick swirled rye bread and just the right amounts of kraut and dressing. They really worked this Reuben out to perfection. Many are lathering in dressing and soggy but not this one. It was delish and my wife has a tough standard for Ruebens. This passes easily! I had the signature spaghetti and meatballs. Sauce homemade. Meatballs homemade. Now this was really interesting. When I tried it, I was like yeah, this is good but as I went along it just seemed to get better and better. Even though I had to take home half of it, I didn't want to! I wanted to finish every last bite right there but I just couldn't! So good. The meatballs were big and dense and the sauce was full flavor but not overpowering and not too sweet or bland. It was perfect. Each bite built upon the last. On the last visit we tried their pizza with pep and mushroom for carry out with the original crust. It was great. Just what I expect a good pizza to be. It is such a risk ordering a pizza when in unfamiliar places but this gamble paid off. You won't be disappointed. But that brings me a to another great feature of this place. When you order carry out, they have an attached beer and wine drive through where you can drive in, pick up your pizza along with any other beer wine drive through item you may need. I really cannot say enough good things about this place and I really can't wait to return. Really really. I would give it six stars if I could.

The Met has a policy that your server gets to proudly wear a crown if their name is mentioned in a five star review. Love that policy!! Wear it proudly Ashely!! The Met is a unique building downtown Lima. It was built in the late 1880's and was originally home to the The Metropolitan Bank. It has since been morphed into a restaurant with very attractive original features. The wood floors and plaster ceilings...along with the attractive decor really enhance the dinning experience! The team here is very friendly, professional and welcoming. Ashley was outstanding. She hustled, knew her menu and had great recommendations. Ashley was very attentive and helped us enjoy the evening. I appreciated Liz stopping by and welcoming us. Liz shared lots of history and helped us appreciate the facility. The Met has a large food menu that has something for everyone. They have a large selection of beverages and specialty cocktails. All at reasonable prices. We started with a couple of Mule drinks. One was a designer St. Patrick's Day Mule and their specialty Met Mule. Both were very tasty, cool and refreshing . We started with the Focaccia bread appetizer. It had a lightly golden/chewing top with a soft and moist inside. Liz said that they make the bread fresh three times a day. The bread had a slight olive oil taste with a mild amount of Italian herbs. The soft whipped butter was a nice add. The side salad had lots of fresh spring greens. There was a few tasty tomatoes and lots of stronger tasting onions. The thin Parmesan cheese shreds were an excellent touch. The house ranch dressing was very smooth/light/creamy moderately thin with a mild ranch taste. My wife had the chicken bacon ranch flatbread. The crust was thin and crispy. She really liked the ranch house made sauce and how it accented the meat toppings. I had the Met Meatloaf which had an outstanding meat flavor. The meat was made with Italian sausage which had a slightly spicy kick. It was moist and tender to go along the beefy taste. The smooth red sauce on top was slightly sweet & spicy. It accented the meat nicely. The mashed potatoes were real with lumps, eyes and minute peel pieces. Very smooth and delicious! The grilled asparagus had a slight crisp to go along with the tender stalk. Not much seasoning detected...just a nice olive oil taste. Overall a fantastic dinner experience. We sat street level and watched the pedestrians come & go while enjoying the decor of this unique facility! The menu is large and the food and drinks are outstanding. A special trip to The Met in downtown Lima is worth a try!

Metered parking on the street and there was a free lot but it was full. Meters were $2 for two hours. Nice staff and there were no staff shortages! Lilly our server was perfect. I love the no-frills vibe of the venue, staff and customers. My first impression? Dark! I arrived at noon:30 because a passing acquaintance mentioned Lombardo's having the best BPTS. The staff and regulars numbered five and were bantering about nothing at high decibel. I sat at the bar and grabbed a menu. It is a perfectly useful, simple, no-frills list of food and prices. The bartender/waitress was a tad slow to engage this newcomer, but finally got around to taking my order and delivering a glass of water. My second impression? Still dark. The BPTS arrived after the usual wait and was hot from the fryer. It comes with nothing, but the usual garnishes are available for an up-charge that seems a tad rich. $1 for a slice of winter tomato? Pass. $1 for a slice of cheese? Pass. $1 for a slice of onion? Pass. The bun was fresh and the pickle spear was beginning to trend from crisp and crunchy towards a hint of limp. I enjoyed the porky goodness and flashbacks to my childhood BPTS memories. Will I return? Probably. I hope that the kitchen will do breakfast-for-lunch. I am also curious about their hamburger ... $3.50, but the double hamburger is more than 2x the regular burger. What's with that?

My curly fried potato wedges (don't call them curly fries!) were crisp on the outside & soft inside. I really enjoyed them. My side of fruit & side salad with balsamic vinaigrette were fine, neither great nor terrible. My fiancé had some delicious chili, though it was cold when served. I'm from North Carolina &, let me just say, the cornbread was some of the best I've had in ages. The chicken sandwich was good. We ordered some cinnamon caramel pretzel bites (like cinnamon sugar balls) to go & I can attest that they didn't last long the next day when they were warmed up. Overall, this was a nice meal in a quaint Ohio downtown. Should we return to Lima, we'll stop in at 318 again!
