awesome. I totally absolutely recommend this place. Attention all MOVIE and TV BUFFS! this is what movie production is about. The entire history right here in this historical building even! Stay a long long time. Bring your camera, bring your nostalgia, Bring senior citizens you know! Will bring so many many happy memories of the times of yesteryear!!!

This is a nice little museum with costumes, boudoirs of classic Hollywood actresses, and a very creepy horror section in the basement with the classic frightening monsters of cinema. The way everything is set up presents a storyline and doesn't just have random artifacts displayed. There's a huge exhibit on Marilyn Monroe, as well as a western section, and even outfits from The Nanny, one of my favorite shows. The museum is 3 floors and connected to Mel's Diner. It's only $15 admission and definitely a "must" for completing the Hollywood experience.

The Hollywood Museum is a three floor fun museum filled with thousands of film artifacts such as set props, actor photos, masks, set production etc. Admission ticket cost $15 bucks. This museum is great! We get to see all of our favorite old and classic movies. Staff were nice. Parking in the area is atrocious; it's best to take the subway. Overall, it's a nice Hollywood museum. I recommend it.

Love old glamorous Hollywood it was so fun to see all the different pieces throughout the museum from different styles and times Absolutely loved the basement part of the museum walk through lots of great horror film pieces very neat to see in person. I think there is something for everyone to enjoy I would definitely go back I'm sure I missed things

FANTASTIC TREASURE TROVE OF HOLLYWOOD MEMORABILIA! Classic Hollywood costumes and props galore! More historic stuff than I saw at the official Academy museum. Four floors of costumes, props, set pieces, autographed headshots, jewelry, cars and more. The basement is for horror fans, but isn't too scary. The first floor features Factor's beautiful building, makeup, costumes and headshots of the most famous movie stars or yesteryear. There are superheros, singers, and other famous folk on the second and third floors. Well displayed and maintained, it's a joy for movie lovers. All housed in the classic art Deco Max Factor building. He was one of Hollywood's most famous makeup arrists, and of course started his line of makeup. It's clear this collection was made and is maintained with a love of old Hollywood. Admission is only $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and a mere $5 for kids! If you love classic Hollywood, you'll love the Hollywood museum!

Cool place to check out right by the Walk Of Fame. It certainly is must see if you're interested in movies, TV, and more. The Hollywood Museum is full of crap and some good stuff. A place to go to at least once to see the collection. You can find quite a few interesting and fun things. A good location for this close to lots of attractions. It's located in the historic Max Factor Building on Highland at Hollywood. This was the place to get makeup for movies. Cool fact. There's a make up exhibit in the lobby. It's about $10 for adults. This isn't bad for a museum. It has three floors. The basement is where they keep the horror movie stuff. All kinds of fun things like Elvira and Hannibal Lector. Pretty creepy yet fun vibe. On the main floor is quite a bit. There's one of the pairs of the Wizard Of Oz slippers. On the upper floor is more to look at. There's Ghostbusters, TV shows including Mad Men, and the Michael Jackson outfit from We Are The World. Lots up here to look at. The whole museum has enough to look at for maybe an hour. Has quite a bit of history to check out in here. It's also in a historic building so that's pretty interesting. The only bad thing is having to pay to get in but it helps maintain the museum so whatever.

    Real one!

Once I smelled something musty, I knew this museum would be wonderful place to explore. For someone like me who has zero interest in CG made movies, this place is must place to visit. They have three stories on the ground and one underground floor which contains creepy horror archives. Perfect! Makeup artist, Max Factor's beauty calibration machine was traumatic for me and felt like Jigsaw's torture machine. Other than that, everything worth to see it. Go to upstairs washroom. You will find this whole building is heritage. I was so impressed with their effort to keep classical Hollywood's beauty.

    Old School fire alarm.

Hollywood history is alive at the Hollywood Museum. At only $15 a ticket, you can get lost in classic Hollywood stories, in the historic, old Max Factor building. Amazing artifacts, original costumes, props, displays and personal effects of many of the most famous films, TV shows and stars of the 'Golden Age' of Hollywood. This is an excellent museum and worth seeing. Even if you don't care for 'Celebrity', the Art-Deco building alone, is worth the price of admission. Four Thumbs Up!!

Was trying to kill some time on a recent trip to LA and stumbled upon this place. I love museums so we gave it a shot! The first floor revolved a lot around older Hollywood stars and has lots of things belonging to the Hollywood bombshells over the years (ie Audrey Hepburn). It was huge and a little confusing and honestly not usually what I'm into. The second floor was more movie based. It had tons of props from movies and costumes that were worn. There was something to look at for everyone! The basement was horror themed so was centered around all the spooky horror films and was probably my favorite part of the exhibit. I do recommend checking it out!

If you love old Hollywood, this is the place for you!!! They have different rooms for the different actresses. One room is Lucille Ball. The other room is Marilyn Monroe. They have three levels, and the bottom floor (the basement) is the horror floor. The building used to be the old max factor building, and they have signs throughout and signs in the bathroom that says in 1930 those Max Factor employees use the same restroom. It is nice that they have actors and actress. And even the ones that did not get the recognition like Hattie McDaniel. Please check this museum out. We would not want to lose a gem like this!

If you enjoy old Hollywood glamour and movie memorabilia, this is the place for you. It is located in the historic Max Factor Building, by N. Highland Ave and Hollywood Blvd. If you don't want to hassle with traffic, the Metro B line (Red) Hollywood/Highland stop will leave you right across the street. Super convenient. Tickets are $5 for kids, $12 for seniors and students and $15 for adults. There is a lot to see, make up rooms for Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe, costumes, dresses, scripts, movie memorabilia from Star Wars, Planet of the apes, Batman, Back to the future, The Waltons, I love Lucy, Silence of the lambs, horror movies, Rocky, Ghostbusters, a Pointer Sisters exhibit and tons more.

If you are a fan of movies and television, both modern and classic, you can't go wrong with this place. Unlike more high profile establishments, such as the Academy Museum, this place is totally focused on the history and sheer joy of the entertainment it celebrates. It feels created and nurtured by true fans and not by any corporate entity. They often change their exhibits, which makes repeated visits absolutely worthwhile. Plus, the price can't be beat! $15 for an adult ticket and there is sooooo much to see! Housed in the classic Max Factor building, the history vibe of the museum, both in setting and content, is massive. An absolute must for lovers of movie and television!! Highly Recommended!!!!

SUPPORT THIS MUSEUM!!! even though it's a little lame in spots... It is CHOCK FULL of relics & memorabilia! Loved the Christmas Decor for the HOLIDAYS! But... the lame parts are; shoving the CATWOMAN display in a hidden corner where paris hilton's dresses take center stage??? What The Literal F#!£? AND the cat women mannequins have REAL SCULPTED FACES!!! AND AND... whoever did the sculpting DID GREAT!!! and some jacka$$ hid them... btw, lose the lame cardboard faces. They do not work. So in conclusion; SUPPORT THIS MUSEUM! They need the money.

I appreciate that the museum isn't too big so that it's doable in less than 2 hours (provided you're not stopping to read signs etc since youre running after your LO instead..). My LO had a fun time running and racing through exhibits especially the diorama ones. The exhibits are pretty limited and small in size so you're not overwhelmed or worried about finishing this place. I think the older my kid gets, the more we can do and interact with. But for my 20 month old, it was a great way to spend about 90 min. There are bathrooms everywhere. This is a huge plus for me lol! Parking is $20! It's kind of pricey given the amount of time we spent (or didn't spend...) but it's so easy to get to the museum from the parking areas so convenience wins out. Tip: if you're an LA public library or county library holder, get free tickets through their Discover and Go page. We went to the museum this way and were able to spend a lovely Saturday morning here free (minus parking...).

Parking was $19.00 for the first three hours with validation. The art museum is truly a gem of Los Angeles. It can be challenging to reserve tickets because open time slots fill up quickly, especially during the summer months when many people are on vacation. The artwork on display is mesmerizing, beautiful, and thought-provoking. Personally, I appreciated every single piece of art I observed, as so much work, love, and dedication went into each item on display that one can only wonder what the artists were thinking or feeling as they created their masterpieces. The entire museum is well-maintained, spotless, and fun. Security is extremely important, as evidenced by the many staff members closely monitoring the large crowds around each section of the museum. Staff members are also there to answer any questions. I wish to rerun here very soon with family and friends, as our visit was educational, inspiring, and fun.

Yet, during that time, checking out LACMA has always managed to stay right near the top, just after eating in KTown. What can I say? I guess I'm just a connoisseur of food and culture...heavy emphasis on the former, far less on the latter. After all, as much as I appreciate museums and art, a big reason for wanting to come here was to also get our prerequisite IG photos of the Urban Lights display like everyone else! Since my gf's friend bought our tickets online for us, I can't really speak to the price or the process. However, what I can say is that buying tickets in advance is highly recommended so that you can lock in your preferred entry time slot, rather than taking a chance on whatever walk up slots are left when you get here. Similarly, their parking lot can fill up quickly, especially on weekends, but there are alternatives nearby. The surrounding streets offer spaces, but most of them seem to have time limits/meters. Otherwise, there are several other parking lots nearby, including a large one a half block away at the Petersen Automotive Museum that we parked at. Now, in all, LACMA is made up of four separate buildings/pavilions filled with exhibits and pieces from a variety of movements, periods, and artists from around the world, whether it be American, European, Latin, Egyptian, Asian, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Abstract, Surrealist, Pop Art, Picasso, Monet, Diego Rivera, Andy Warhol, and so much more. The artwork here also extends beyond just the physical, as there was even a live trio performing with a violin player, a singer, and a bicycle riding performer. I don't know if it's just me, but that felt pretty rare to see. Given how art is largely subjective, everyone will feel differently about LACMA's specific exhibits and pieces, but I think it's objectively safe to say that their overall collection of artwork is rather impressive. With so many different distinct styles curated together, there's so much to see and potentially something that speaks to everyone. What's more, the physical museum itself is great - a little congested in certain areas as guests milled about, but I definitely like how modern it felt and how it stretches over Wilshire (kind of cool to stand there and watch all of the cars passing below). Despite how big and spacious this place is, though, there were times inside the main building/gallery where it felt really hot and stuffy, so a bit more A/C would've been nice. Even though we spent a good chunk of the day wandering through so many of their halls and exhibits, I'd be lying if I said we got to see (and appreciate) everything that LACMA has to offer. My favorites were the pieces by Monet and Picasso, as well as the Pop Art wing with Warhol's pieces. However, I'm still kicking myself for neglecting the outside area and the very thing we came here for - the Urban Light display! Pretty horrendous on my part (I just wanted to see in the car with the A/C on blast), but at least it's accessible 24/7 to the public without needing to buy a ticket, so we can always correct that mistake the next time we're in LA. Which, hopefully, won't take nearly as long again.

The current new exhibit is Mummies. And don't forget to go outside and see the SR-71 Blackbird by the parking structure.

However, I forgot it's next to a stadium so there's cars going into the parking lots and it's confusing when you see a $60 parking sign but luckily museum parking is not the same. The place definitely changed, it seems so much darker, simplistic, and less colorful than I remembered. We didn't purchase any of the specific exhibits so we only went to the free pertinent exhibits which we went through within an hour! I had to slow my son down and because it's so crowded he didn't want to wait in line to look or try anything. I was able to get him to watch some videos playing around the life cycle exhibit, and then he got hungry so we went to the first floor food court. I know it says no food or drinks in the exhibits but I saw a lot of people snacking and drinking in the area, I don't think staff realized because it was so crowded. At the food court, they had a variety of stalls and we went straight to the burgers and pizza, we ordered a pizza and chili fries which my son ate mostly pizza and the snacks i brought. Thy also had a mini market convenience stall which sold snacks as well and a cafe which had ice cream and coffee. I think this place is decent, I can see some of the old things left behind like condiments station and furniture set to the side, so I think they are always revamping the pla

It's pretty wild to think this place is going to be closed for the next two years for a massive update. It's definitely going to be missed while the doors are locked, but I'm actually pretty excited to see how it turns out when it finally reopens. They have some big plans to add more space and update the whole experience. If you missed your chance to get inside before yesterday, at least you can still walk around the park and look at the excavation sites while they work. It's still such a cool, surreal spot to have right in the middle of L.A......seeing actual Ice Age history being pulled out of the ground never gets old. Can't wait to see the final product in a couple of years!

Upon arrival we followed the signs to go see the tar pits. It was hot outside but not too bad as there was a breeze and it was early. The tar pits had information that you could read as you look around. You can check out the dig sites and walk around at the park in the area. In the museum they had all kinds of prehistoric facts and information. Apparently the museum has now closed due to a renovation and won't reopen for awhile. So I'm glad we got to see everything before they shut it down. Overall the La Brea Tar Pits and dig sites are cool to see if you like that kind of thing. There's not much to it but it's informative. Hopefully they will get the museum reopened soon so that people can enjoy that as well.
