It's a decent Home Depot compared to most others, but they tend to be understaffed. When they are staffed, it is with a large number of new employees who are only knowledgeable about minor items and cannot perform other tasks, such as operating the cash register or working in different departments. The staff have always been friendly and willing to help with what they can. most of the staff seems to be older high school students to young college kids. The building has always been nice inside, and the app does make finding things very easy, as it gives the aisle number and bin location. The selection is typical, but there are things that the display charts show that are not offered in Alaska. I do wish they would black them out, as I have seen sale stickers on product charts that are not sold in Alaska. I feel they are required to put them out by corporate regardless. read more

We've made pretty good friends with an evening manager at this location. We left town for two weeks and returned to find out she is gone. Disappointing. She always had deals on items that worked with our home decor. It's like she knew our style. The whole thing was strange. i.e. she steered us toward one of those moveable fireplaces that was just reduced in price. Turns out it fit perfectly in our activity room. Almost like she knew. The rest of the staff has been helpfully. If they don't know where to find something, they consult their handheld and take us to it. Like all other Home Depot's, there's plenty of parking. But this store offers veteran's parking. Even though I haven't used them, I appreciate that. Buyer beware ... we utilized the Home Depot kitchen remodel services last year. From purchase to final completion of the project was over 1 YEAR. Since that time, plumbing and electrical have continued to be an issue. The initial cabinet order was placed incorrectly and subcontractors were not reliable. The plumber used old (or extremely cheap) parts on the water lines. Thankfully, my husband found the leak and was able to replace the part after unknown months of leaking. Please learn from our mistake. Do your homework, check reviews and obtain estimates from several contractors. We have been Home Depot customers for years and for the most part have gotten good service. We learned the hard way. read more

Sooooooooo, I typically do not shop at Home Depot unless I absolutely have to. Well, I decided to check out their lumber to finish this table I am building. I go to check out. Lady asks if I am military, I say I am a veteran. Rings me up, I see a discount of $2. I asked why $2. Well apparently the discount isn't for building materials. Sooooooo, Lowe's gives you a discount on literally everything you buy in the store. So, not only is Lowe's ran by a person of color, they actually do give a discount for veterans, as well as set up memorials on Memorial Day. The CEO of Home Depot donated to a racist. Won't be coming back here and plan to ensure the military base here knows as well. Don't offer a discount if you're gonna pick and choose what it can be used for. Pathetic read more

I usually experienced great customer services at Home Depot. However, it's sad to say that Patty who worked at the customer service on Thursday, April 11th has ruined it for me. It's not kind but I have to be honest, she was lazy and incompetent. We purchased some items at this store awhile back. We put them on layaway. The person we encountered that day was super helpful. However, after shopping around, we chose to go with Lowe's items since they had a complete matching set that we were looking for. That's why we stopped by Home Depot to get a refund for these items. As soon as I expressed that I wanted to return some items, she was rudely pointed toward the end of the store and said, "I can't do that. You have to go to the Pro checkout station." We went there as instructed. They informed us that we had to go to customer service to do that. After relayed Patty's message, the guy said that he would take care of us but added, "they could do that (refund our money) at customer service. Sadly, this is not the first time it happened." I know there are moments we are unhappy with our jobs especially when you work in the customer service department. However, run away from your responsibilities and just passed them on to your co-worker, that's just low and unacceptable! read more

Something about this Home Depot feels odd to me. The way the store flows does not feel very efficient and makes the store feel alot smaller than it actually is. I came here for a bucket of paint. I brought the can with me and everything to make sure I got the same exact one. Since this can was in our house prior to us moving in I know nothing about it. All I know is that it has color descriptions and such which I assumed any paint associate could easily help me with. I showed the person the can and they immediately brought out a can that they claim was the "same exact thing" mind you, my can didn't say "paint and primer". I kept insisting that they check to make sure and I pointed out that on the lid of the can that I brought in thete was a mention of some yellow and another color in the mix. The associate insisted that it's the same can as the one he brought out for me. I trusted his judgement but deep down I was still unsure...and I should've trusted my instincts. Long story short, it was bright white! And now I have two uneven walls, wasted $11 for a tiny can, and can't figure out the paint color again because like the genius that I am, I left the empty bucket for them to dispose, while trusting their paint expertise. 3 stars for lack of attention to detail and how I felt like I was being brushed off when insisted that the paint cans seemed different. On a positive note the lady at checkout was very cordial and kind and I was offered help from other departments, even though I didn't need any. Looking for paint? I recommend Lowe's or Sherwin Williams. They will work with you incessantly until you get what you came for and you'll be able to brush the paint with confidence instead of being brushed off. read more

Went there to buy a gate cane bolt for a chain link fence. I found the cane bolt however, it was missing the rest of the assembly. It was labeled as an assembly for $24.76. I took it to the Pro desk register along with two galvanized latches which are used to attach it to the gate hence the word "assembly" was used to describe it. I didn't take any bolts which were supposed to be included as well, since none were nearby. The assembly info is stated as such on line which was shown to the cashier and to the assistant store manager when she came, and on their store computer. The assistant manager said that it doesn't come with any hardware despite the picture online and the verbal description of the assembly on their website. She then stated that it is wrong and if I wanted the cane bolt with the latches I would have to pay for them separately. I suggested that she correct the description on the website since it is misleading. I decided not to purchase the "assembly" of just the can bolt. Instead I went to Lowes and found it $3 less and it included the latches and bolts. Since it was across the street from a different Home Depot store and I was shopping for something else I decided to see if they had the assembly in stock. Well they did and it included the latches and they were on the cane bolt with the bolts to secure the latches. Pretty sure that store manager didn't know what she was talking about and needs to be brought up to speed on the merchandise. read more

It's a little out of the way for me, but the reason why I like this Home Depot is that I can rent tools here for home improvement projects and the rates are pretty reasonable. This is the only store this option is available Rental options include rototillers, nail guns, augers, weed whackers, carpet cleaners, and much more. The rental options are for 4 hours, daily, and weekly. I will rent again. The midtown Home Depot used to have a truck for rent and was really handy, but unfortunately that option has been discontinued. Will come again. read more

Our old dishwasher called it quits (after about 8 years) by spewing water out all over the kitchen floor. So, last Saturday, once I was finished getting my oil changed at Northway Xpress Lube, I ventured into Home Depot to check out a possible replacement. Alas, several of the models were out of stock but the gentleman who helped me, showed me a KitchenAid model which was rather obscured in the corner. I read up on some quick reviews of this particular model while having the paperwork drawn up and was pleased by the results. One half of the store's lights went out (including the station where we sat) and the issue was not resolved the entire time I was there. Rather ridiculous for us two to have to sit there, literally in the dark. Later, the following Tuesday, upon trying to set up an appointment for installation, no one was available to come to the store's phone that particular morning. After several tries, we did finally get through to someone who was able to set up a date/time with Alaska Appliance Installers, who have a contract with Home Depot for all of their installations. (My advice is to wait for the installer to call you, even if it takes a few days). The highlight of our experience was our installer, Ben, who delivered on the following Wednesday (yesterday). Super nice guy, efficient and fast. He took our old worn out model with him. RIP! Our new stainless steel dishwasher is gorgeous. Delivery department is horrible, definitely needs more training on customer service. Either that, or hire better employees. Had an oven delivered on Monday, they couldn't finish the installation because they forgot the plug. Tuesday was xmas.... They came back on Wednesday.... they brought the wrong plug, so they couldn't finish the installation. Purchased the right plug Wednesday night. Called Thursday morning to schedule an appointment for the day to hopefully finish the installation. They mentioned they will call 30 mins before getting to my house. Waited the whole day, did not get a call. Called at 4pm couldn't get with delivery because they go home at 2pm. Spoke with a customer service to try and schedule one for Friday but couldn't because they had no access. So they told me to call back Friday morning. Called this morning (Friday), and said they were all book for the day. They told me that they went to my house yesterday. I ask why they didn't call 30 mins prior. The response was they sent someone out right away because they thought I was home, so there was no need to call 30 mins before. I don't understand why delivery didn't call me when they got there so that I could drove home. They couldn't schedule an appointment for today because they are all book. Manager schedule an appointment for Saturday and again they couldn't give me a time frame. So I'll have to wait a whole day Saturday because they have no idea when they'll show up. Will update this review to tomorrow to see if they screw it up again. Hopefully it doesn't take them a week to get something delivered. I don't know if home depot will read this review, but this is what should happened; They should have made sure they had everything before they delivered on Monday.... or they come in forgot the plug and admit they messed up and tells me that they will come back later that day to finish the installation. Either that or hire competent employees. Yelp should have an option for 0 stars.... it shouldnt take a week to make a delivery. Will not recommend this place to anyone and will never step foot on another home depot again. read more

We went to Home Depot, after first starting at Lowe's Hardware. Jenn and I had just bought this place, and we went down to get a washer and a dryer. After we selected both, (at Lowe's), we were asked to "Open a Homeowners Account". We said Good idea, they said, aww never mind, pay us cash. We said shove the washer and dryer, and we went next door. We had selected it and would of paid cash, but they offered, then backed out. Home Depot was very accommodating, well priced, (better than Lowe's) and delivered the next day. Since then they have opened a store on the eastside near us. It is great! I ordered flooring off the Home Depot website almost 2 months ago and it hasn't arrived yet. The website said 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I called them and I'm like where the is my flooring? And they tell me on orders like this they are barged up here and it will be 6 weeks. I tell them they need to fix their website. Anyways I really want this flooring so I wait. 6 weeks goes by. Flooring still hasn't shown up. Call them they tell me oh it'll be here next week. Nope didn't arrive so I call them again oh next week. Still hasn't arrived. The people and inside the store are ok but the location is "meh". The entrance and exit are also a problem, there is a big center drive that splits the parking lot in half. The biggest reason for the review is in response to a delivery. We live 23 miles, about 30 min, from the store. We ordered a washer and dryer and set up deliverer for a Sat. I didn't think much about it at the time but there was no window of time for delivery stated at the time of purchase. When I called the store at 1200 noon on the day of delivery and asked if there was an estimated time I was told "they told you what day right?" I responded "yes, today". The associate then stated "ok" to which I responded " so I guess I am supposed to stay at my house all day?" He then said "they will give you a call 30 min prior to delivery." I wonder if this is standard for HD across the country or if it is an Alaska thing. I guess this is the biggest reason that I prefer to shop at Lowes. read more

When my family and I walked up to the register, the employee by the name of Kristina, rudely shuts the gate between my 8 year old and I. Without any explanation of any sorts. Two other employee then walks up again without saying a word and I asked are we not allowed to check out? What's going on here? The cashier can't help us because it's too much according to the employee, whom said she was a manager. Because the cashier and my father, that was with me as well, had an incident outside, not involving Home Depot or on the property. This manager then told us that her boss said my father is band from the store because of nothing involving the store or nor did my father do anything to this lady that he didn't even recognize, until she brought it up on a visit before. The manager then said this other lady can help you, even though she just told me, my father is band for no reason at all. I was mad at this point, I said you just told me my father is band for no reason I can take my business elsewhere. The manager said no she can help you, that's why I brought her over here. I should of took my business elsewhere but I end up buying my stuff because we already spent an hour getting our stuff. I had ask for the corporate number and the cashier then handed me the store manager's information as well, as I was paying the manager said "so she didn't say anything to you she just shut the gate." Yes, if she couldn't check us out because she can't see my father, she could of professional spoke to me and said I'm going to get someone else to check you out but no. I was not involved in what happened between my father and this lady but now she has me involved due to her unprofessionalism at the store and I will not accept this kind of behavior. I have had many bad experiences with this store. The latest involved a non functioning brush cutter I rented. I took it back with a video and was told that they did not have another (sharp) blade. They told me I was using it wrong and that it could not cut the brush (pinky diameter) I was cutting. Got nothing from the manager but a baffled look when I told him about it. This is after the data breach and fraud I had to go through last year. I hope these losers go out of business. Also could you open more than one checkout? Because if you use self checkout you will have your debit card information stolen! read more
