What an amazing local business. My son and I came In looking for some house plants. Up front, I am clueless on plants, taking care of plants or even which plants are supposed to be indoor vs needing to be outdoor. When we walked in a woman came up to us and asked if we needed help. Upon hearing my new venture to try and develop a green thumb....in Alaska...at the beginning of winter, she actually got excited. She began showing me plants that were easier to care for, required less lighting and were just plain tough to kill. I would recommend this place for any plant lover whether mature or budding. They are friendly, local and have a great selection of plants.

Part of the inside their greenhouse. Really wish I picked up a 6" neon pothos when I had the chance.

My favorite greenhouse in Anchorage! I recently started to get back into my houseplant hobby and have been visiting different nurseries and greenhouses based on recommendations. Green Connection has exceeded my expectations. Their greenhouse is huge and I can only imagine what it's like in the spring and summertime. They have a wide selection of tropical houseplants and everything always looks so healthy and well maintained. My husband and I came here on two consecutive weekends and walked out with plants both times. The monstera I brought home two weeks ago as been growing like crazy and I can't wait to see it grow once we get even more sun. The staff is also very kind and helpful without being overbearing. They've given me good advice and insight when I had questions. Prices are fair and it helps their plants look happy and healthy. They also sell macrame hangers and pots, some of which are made locally. Overall, I love this greenhouse, I'll definitely be frequenting this place for houseplants.

Love this place, they're going to make me poor from making me believe I'm a plant mom now but that's okay! Love supporting this local gem!

The lady who greeted me at the door was kind and helpful, and full of information about each of the plants.

The 3 others met us at our home and listened to our ideas and took measurements of the areas to be landscaped. Within a week we received quotes from two of the other companies that just parroted back our ideas without any design drawings or detail. The third company jerked us around for 3 additional weeks before telling us they were too busy and gave us a baseless and wildly expensive "estimate" for next year. In contrast, Josie Blumenthal from Faltz came to our house twice to sketch the area, take dimensions and develop our design ideas. On the 2nd trip she took aerial photos with a drone and prepared a concept design based upon our ideas. At our third meeting, Ben Brown, Faltz Landscape Architect, who was mentoring Josie, joined the Team and proposed some new design concepts that we liked a lot. We signed a contract and within a week the Faltz crew was on site. The 3-man crew were experienced, polite and professional. Most of the time while the work was in progress, either Josie, Ben or both were on site, assuring the work was in conformance with the plan. At the end of every workday, the crew cleaned our yard and driveway. Three days later the work was complete. The final product far exceeded our expectations, and we are very happy with the entire Faltz Team, especially Ben and Josie. We felt that Faltz provided a superior product and good value. We'd highly recommend Faltz for your landscape needs.

She took notes and gave me an email to contact. I emailed again. No response. I sent a letter to the owner complaining of the lack of response to 4 different attempts to request service and questioning how they stay in business. He sent his son to my house the next day. The son took notes and left. He never sent an estimate. They obviously don't want my business, and I absolutely don't recommend them. If I could give no stars I would.

Rethink Home is a family-owned business located on W. Fireweed across from the VFW Post between Arctic and Spenard. The display floor is filled with an interesting mix of antique furniture, novelty items like 80's icon shirt button pins (Pac-Man, Mr. T, Galaga, Max Headroom, He-Man, and Q-Bert among others), a large detailed oil-style painting of Audrey Hepburn from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's displayed on the rear wall in the back room, Alaskan memorabilia, and crafts from local artists. Like all of my other reviews on antique stores, my main focus is the vinyl they have in wooden crates set up by the front register. The collection here is relatively small and like the secondhand thrift stores, they will arrive randomly without notice. There was an array of albums from the 40's and 50's up to the more modern artists from the 70's and 80's. I saw a few that caught my attention but unfortunately had to pass on because of the condition of some of the records. Some jazz albums I considered buying had visible surface scratches and split seams on either the top or bottom of the album covers. At $5 to $8 on some of these, these were priced relatively high by their condition alone. However, they did have a separate crate of records that were marked down to $2 or 50% from their original selling price, but again the condition was a concern. The nearby secondhand thrift stores had vinyl in better shape at only $1 apiece or .60 at the lowest with minimal surface scratches or fully intact album covers with the original inner sleeve available. However, the people running this store are very friendly and this place is a good option for anyone looking to purchase some paintings or a detailed wood-carved piece of vintage furniture.
