The associates at this store went completely above and beyond to assist us with our quick holiday visit here today. Of course, they have all the typical items that I believe most Home Depots have. But the associates were friendlier than we've ever experienced. We asked for a "Merry Christmas rug", and the door greeter showed us one and then tracked us down - -dancing in the aisle with another, more cheerful one. I have had positive experiences in the Baxter/Brainerd store in the past. I have even on occasion filled out the online survey giving this store a 5-star rating. That being said it only takes (1) bad apple to make an experience so horrible that tells me I will never step in that store again. I should have called for the store manager at the time. This was my second encounter with this same individual in 2 weeks, both times his lack of care to the customer in my opinion was inexcusable. I have zero tolerance for condescending inept incompetent people, especially in a customer service position. The only reason I give a 2-star rating is for my previous experiences in this store. This review is geared to one individual only. He should be in a position where he does not work directly with customers. Sorry Home Depot, looks like Menards will be my go-to from now on. read more

They generally have everything you need for a project; however, the customer service is something that needs a great deal of attention. It's either great or downright terrible. The people at the customer service desk in the front of the store are useless or rude. You guys are never too busy to not be more helpful. No, thank you! This is the worst HD I have ever been to. I will have to say first that the nice lady at the entrance in the back was super nice as well as Dany? in the return section, The other employees were a complete disaster (and I am already sugar-coating it)I had returned a trailer and the returns employee kept telling me that he was not able to remove the trailer from my truck! The rental employee made me park in different spots and still could not help me until I was really getting upset which is when finally after almost one hour two additional employees came to the scene who never said a word to me but stared at the trailer instead. Now there were three employees of which one finally was able to get the trailer off my truck after I had to make myself very clear about the urgency (my husband was at the ER at that time but nobody seemed to care) I had also returned a mixing machine and was charged over $60 for not returning an extension cable which I never received when I picked up the machine! BUYERS BEWARE! Let me start by saying if I could give no stars at all I would. My experience with The Home Depot and TheHomeDepot.com (apparently they are different entities) have been by far the worst of any other company I've ever dealt with. A little back story, My wife and I built a new house this summer and have purchased thousands of dollars worth of materials from Home Depot, with mixed results. (terrible customer service, crooked materials etc.) When it came time to start looking for appliances, we looked at every appliance place in a tri-county area and scoured the internet until my wife and I narrowed it down to LG and we waited for the black Friday deals at the Home Depot. So we picked out a fridge, stove and dishwasher as a set, and we picked out just a cheap microwave that would go in the pantry, On the same order we also got 4 barn doors. About a week later the doors and microwave showed up. then about 3 weeks later, into December now we get a delivery window of 9:30-1:30 for the appliances to be delivered on December 15th so we get all the needed waterlines and hookups ready for our new appliances. Delivery day comes and at about 9 am I get a call from the lady at the trucking company and she tells me that they can't find our house so I tell her our address and it turns out the address is wrong on their paperwork (the rest of our order showed up just fine) and I need to call to the Home Depot and have them call and change it. So I call and wait on hold and they come to tell me that the zip code is wrong (off by two numbers) and that is a "major address change" but all our other stuff showed up just fine because the zip code is for a town 10 minutes away! In the same lakes area. So instead of them just making the change and coming to our house in the delivery window they send the appliances back and we need to cancel the order and re-order. And they claim to be a green company and shipped back perfectly good appliances that were 10 minutes from their destination! I feel this is unacceptable so I call to the online store and the local store and talk to about 20 different people all telling me conflicting things. So we get in the car and drive to the local store to speak to a manager and they say they knew nothing of the order and homedepot.com is its own thing and tell us there is nothing they can do and that we have to cancel the order and re order. Which would have been fine, we were willing to wait, except they wouldn't honor the black Friday deals so our appliances went up almost $2,000! The main store manager I talked to said if it was a couple hundred he could do something but not for that amount and that we can wait for MLK day for their next sale (after we waited over a month for these) All in all I spent the better part of 2 days and a trip to town trying to get this resolved and talked to tons of home depot employees and no one could do anything for us. So now after we canceled our holiday plans in our brand new house because we have no appliances we get to start over looking for a decent deal. We are very disappointed in the way this was handled by the home depot and their delivery people, after being good customers and spending thousands of dollars at this place to get screwed out of appliances that were basically here, 10 minutes away. And the other shipping company's had no problem finding it. Shame on you Home Depot. We will never spend a dime here again and I strongly advise anyone else not to spend their hard earned money here either. Not worth the headache and heartache, go anywhere else. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID! My husband and I purchased a 7 piece patio set from HomeDepot.com and selected the option to have it shipped to our nearest store. Another available option was for the Baxter store to both assemble and deliver the patio set, for an additional fee. We decided to take advantage of this convenient option. When our patio set was delivered by the contracted delivery service (not a Home Depot employee), the table top had clearly been dropped and one corner of the stone top had a large visible chip. 4 of the 6 chairs had large scraps in the paint on the arms and legs. The delivery driver informed us that this is very common from the Baxter Home Depot store as they never wrap the pieces properly for delivery. When I called the Baxter store to find out what my options were to rectify the problem, these were the two options they gave me: 1) I could get a new patio set ordered, but they refused to assemble or deliver the new one and will not refund the assembly and delivery fee I already paid for the damaged set or 2) I could keep the damaged set, they'd refund me 10% (for 5/7 damaged pieces?!) of the cost of only the patio set, and again they would not refund me the assembly and delivery charge. Are you kidding me?! I even took this to a manager at the store and this was the response. We will never give Home Depot our business again. Menard's and Lowe's will receive our business from this point forward! read more

Home Depot advertises in every store that if you buy an hot water heater before noon it can be installed the same day. That is NOT TRUE in most stores. I got up early to purchase an hot water heater at the Brainerd Home Depot where this promise is readily displayed and was only told that I would get a call from the installer within 48 hours to make an appointment for installation as soon as I could be put on the installers schedule. The installer is in Foley which is east of St Cloud and over an hour away. The store manager explained that the installers are never more than 30 miles away. Home Depot enjoys a large client base in Brainerd but apparently does not want to contract with local service or plumbing businesses to assure timely service. It's hard to tell your wife the explanations that the poor Home Depot employees (they are caught in the middle) gave me when all she wants to do is restore hot water in our Brainerd home in a reasonable timeframe. It is disingenuous to advertise a service you cannot perform in any store that is incapable of performing it......and the explanation is only "we can not control what advertising signs the corporation sends us to display. There are a lot of places on 371 to get your home improvement fix, but I am proud to bleed Orange. As a guy who likes to tackle his "honey-do-list" himself rather than paying for help I am in constant need of supplies and tools. And thanks to the awesome service and selection here I can get whatever I need with one stop. The staff is extremely knowledgable and go above and beyond to help you out and even provide advice and tips. The last thing that seperates the Depot from the other guys is their return policy which is extremely fair and understanding this means you can buy extra for your projects without the fear of being stuck with extra supplies that you can't return. read more

I built a new deck at our lake home with the help of Sheila LeBlane of The Home Depot Pro Department. She was outstanding with help on everything from material cost/availability to in store discounts. She was patient, knowledgable and made me feel that she wanted the best possible project outcome for me. I highly recommend you ask the advice of the Pro Department people. I thought they were just for commercial customers but anyone can ask their help. By the way, Megan at check out was also helpful and friendly. This Baxter Home Depot store is a great store and although my main home is in the Twin Cities, I plan to purchase all my future Home Depot items in Baxter. read more

Please do not purchase a Frigidare gas stove that will need to be fitted to worked with Propane. The folks who work at Home Depo will tell you they have order the parts needed and will be delivered with the stove. NO that is not what happens. The delivery persons who's sole job is - well delivery - will say anything to get appliance off loaded and signed off. You then go back to Home Depo to find out where the rest of the parts are. You will be told that you will have to contact Frigidare and order the propane orifices - for another $32.00! Hmmm.. You are told from the nice lady on the phone that it takes 7-10 working days to receive these parts. Well 16 days have gone by since the delivery of my shinny white stove and counting for the orifices to make my new stove work! I wish I never bought Frigidare and I also wish I received correct info from Home Depo. UPDATE---- We finally received the orifices to make our stove work. I also want to add that HOME DEPO has contacted us and will use what happened to us as a learning experience for them as well. Live and learn I guess. Apology accepted. We do need to buy a washer and dryer too.... I think I will go with a Maytag - ELECTRIC - dryer. read more

I do wish that the cashiers at this store would get their military discount policy straight.. I asked for a military discount yesterday, showed my spouse ID, and I was told no. I was told that it was only for active duty personnel.. I was told that they would give me a discount if my husband came in and showed them his ID.. Uh, I'd love to have him come in, but he can't because he's DEPLOYED right now. They showed me the laminated flyer that had their policy on it, I pointed out to the cashier that it clearly said that everyday discounts were for AD, and their dependents including spouse and children. The cashier said that because my ID was red, it meant that my husband was National Guard, and therefore it excluded me because National Guard wasn't considered Active Duty. Instead of arguing, I just swiped my card and left the store. What difference does it make if I come into the store to buy paint for our house, or if my husband does? We live in the same house. After having a cashier imply that my husband (who is on his 3rd tour in the middle east) isn't a real soldier, I don't think I'll be back. read more

UGH! My husband and I bought all of our cabinets for a cabin we built here about two years ago and there are STILL pieces missing despite my many calls and HOURS - literally - on the phone. Recently I bought stone for a retaining wall there and it took me 2.5 hours to get out of there with it. To buy the stone I was sent from the garden center, to the check out, to customer service, then back to the garden center. Finally once the trailer was hooked up and I brought it to where the stone was supposed to be the employees that "helped" me load it up were just awful - they had NO clue what they were doing and everything was so disorganized. My two daughters finally loaded most of the 22b stones themselves - WHILE THE TWO MALE EMPLOYEES WATCHED. I can't even really blame those guys though, they clearly did not get enough training and even they said that everything is crazy disorganized there all of the time. It is a good thing that you get a decent quality product for your money there, otherwise I would never, ever go back! If you are just getting something quick its good, but if you're placing a big order or custom order buyer beware - you'll get a good deal but you'll get some major headaches to go along with it. read more

See my previous post. The installers finally arrived at 3:20. They came in walked around and let us know that they would not move the bed that we had previously paid $100 . We spent the next half of an hour on the phone with home depot and the installer. The crew (who had been sitting in their truck ) finally reached an agreement with home depot to move the bed for an additional charge. Home depot wanted us to pay half of the charge. We said no, your estimator was out here and said that you could move the bed for $100. We have it in writing and want you to honor it. Home depot agreed to pay for it and the crew started work. They worked hard and fast for the next 4 plus hours on the installation. They may have worked a little too fast. They broke a 40 year old custom built cradle, took a big ding out of the bathroom wall and damaged the infamous head board . ( it took probably 20 minutes to move and reinstall the bed) I do plan on calling the store and tell them about out installation experience. read more
