I feel like every time I visit HD they've hired employees that don't really have any understanding of the products they sell. I asked for assistance with locating an item and stood in front of the service counter for 20 minutes while the two gals answered phone calls and assisted other customers. A gentleman walked up and asked if I'd been helped, his name was Derek, and I explained that I had been helped, but was waiting for further assistance as I am disabled and was unable to locate the product in question. Instead of assisting me, he radioed another employee to come help. I bid him thanks and a good day and he walked away without even saying another word. They could not give a delivery date and charged over 200 buck to deliver to McAllister MT when they deliver to Ennis MT for free and they drive right by McAllister on the way to Ennis. called and found the washer and dryer were delivered to the store so asked when delivery was going to be they kept changing the date then gave to excuse they don't have the washer and dryer and while on the phone talking to them said I was thinking of canceling the order and they put me on hold and get a reordered message while on hold order canceled. So, went to Lowe's got same set cheaper and free delivery and a delivery date never again will I buy anything from Home Depot again biggest runaround and when you live were there no Lundry mat and your washer broken don't go to Home Depot. And if your in McAllister and need a washer and dryer or other appliance go to Lowes free delivery don't go to Home Depot they nickel and dime you like charge for delivery and no delivery date could be a month or more before you get it. I'd like management to know what a disappointing experience I just had at the Home Depot in Bozeman, Montana. Three different aisles I tried to walk down to look for the items I can in to buy had so many boxes, ladders, etc...in the way that it made it impossible to navigate the store. Only one of the tree aisles actually had an employee working. I witnessed in more than one location groups (more than two) of employees chatting, one of these particular groups I could easily over hear that they were discussing personal activities- as in non-related work conversation. I would have liked to purchase paint, however the single person working the paint counter (who seemed to be working very hard) just couldn't keep up with the demands from the customers. After waiting 15 minutes we decided to leave. Lastly, the only check out available was the self-checkout. One of which was "down" or "locked" and waiting for a manager. The checkout I stepped up to wouldn't read my card, I was told by an employee that it "doesn't like cards". No other help was given as I tried several times to try and navigate back to the screen to allow me to pay cash. Meanwhile the line to checkout had more than half a dozen people waiting. It seems to me that maybe some employees could stop chatting about their personal issues and help the customers they are there to serve. One star, and the second is because they allow dogs. My dog loves the attention he gets from staff. We go here when the weather sucks and he needs some exercise. I buy a cleaning product or a plant to make the trip more worthwhile. Staff are typically friendly, but often clueless, knowing nothing about products and where they might be located. I've had younger clerks pull out their phones and Google my questions for the answers. To be fair, older associates tend to know their stuff... Typical scenario: I called a couple months ago to see if they had a specific washing machine, that I had seen on the Home Depot website, in stock. I was advised to check online for availability. So I did, again. I called again to confirm that the same washer I checked for online a second time was truly in the store. The person I spoke to said I'd have to come see for myself, because there were so many washers there and she didn't have time to check them all. I'm not kidding. I was calling from Helena, and no way could she wrap her head around the concept that I needed a washer at my house in Bozeman, but was calling from Helena, and did not want to drive 100 miles to the Bozeman store just to wander her appliance floor. She kept suggesting that I look for a washer in the Helena store. Holy. I called Lowe's, and two days later a washer appeared at my door (in Bozeman!). I am commenting specifically on the manager of the service department. I have been dealing with an issue since 8/10 and after many calls and visits was wanting a refund today so that I could repurchase a part that was not delivered. The manager would not speak with me in person and left her employee to tell me no several times. The employee was great and we worked through a solution. If I had known what a confused, utter mess it was going to be dealing with Home Depot I would have gone somewhere else. I needed new flooring for my mobile home. Paid their 'measure taker' $50.00 to measure for everything we needed. Those measurements went to an estimater in Michigan who called to give me an estimate and was trying to charge me for a flight of stairs and for flooring for a basement. This is a mobile home. We did not have those things. After being on the phone for an eternity and trying to get the mess straightened out I got put on hold - yet again - and was disconnected! Redialed the number, hoping to be able to talk to the same estimater and ended up in Georgia! Had to start the process all over again with a different estimater and the same results. Then they wanted me to pay them - without seeing what exactly I was being cahrged for - and was told I had to pay before they would order the flooring!!! Long story shorter, I did get them to email me an invoice and ended up back at the store to pay for my flooring in person AND THEN was told that there was going to be a 2-3 week minimum wait as the drivers for the warehouse were on lockdown for the coronavirus!!! Finally, a month and a half later I get the call that my flooring was in. They were ready to come out and install it, but THEN the installer realized this was for a mobile home and proceeded to inform me that they do not do installs in mobile homes as they have no foundation to keep the floor stready!! They knew this was a mobile home from day one when their guy measured it!! I was told to find my own installer, but the only installers around here also sell flooring and will not install it unless you bought it from them! Called Home Depot back to inform them of this. They are willing to let me cancel my order but they want to charge me $160.00 restocking fee! I did not cancel the order - they cancelled me! So, here I sit with $4,000.00 worth of flooring and no one to put it in for me. I could spit bullets!!!! This is definitly a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians read more

Wow - the service and follow-up was so impressive, I wanted to share it with 5-stars. I needed a unique pantry cabinet and the computer showed two in the store... They searched high and low but concluded it was no where to be found. One of the ASMs named Robert jumped into action and found one in nearby store - took care of the paperwork, called the store and put the wheels in motion to get the cabinet transferred. The next day, another ASM named Colin called me and told me it would arrive in 3 days - but only because the district manager couldn't fit it into his personal SUV. Two ASMs and a district manager going above and beyond for me to get this cabinet in just a few days. Yes indeed - impressive and very much appreciated! read more

Despite warnings I received from my general contractor and others, I still used Home Depot because they had a good sale on Andersen Windows and Appliances (Black Friday). However, it is not worth it. A window came damaged and they did replace it but it was a major hassle, both for the schedule of our remodel and also in dealing with Home Depot. We also bought a whole houseful of appliances, which turned out even worse. Apparently there is only a 2 day window after delivery in which Home Depot feels they are responsible for helping replace or fix an appliance that was damaged from the factory (they never expressed this to us, but say it is somewhere in the fine print of our receipt). Yes, it took us significantly longer than their 2-day window to take it out of the box and install it, but it still has most of the protective wrap, etc. on it. We have never used it and we did not damage it. After multiple phone calls including to the store manager, they say they will not help and we need to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer says it is Home Depot's responsibility. Do not make any major purchase from this store! It is not worth it! Management should know I was planning to make another purchase of around $10k of windows and doors in a few months and will not be doing this now. read more

Today I found someone, But of course he didn't work in the department I was in, he called the person that was supposed to be in the department that I needed help with but said person just clocked out to go to lunch and asked if I could come back in an hour or an hour and a half. For years I have loved Home Depot and almost exclusively shopped here, they have however been letting me down lately. I have tried to brush it off and ignore it for almost a year now but I cannot continue. I have seen this store get dirtier, decrease selection and loose the friendly staff I had come to know by name. I went in the other day to get some stainless steel hardware, they HAD NONE. Like literally no stainless hardware in the store (Lowes had it across the street), I couldn't believe it. Then prior to that I needed a controller for electric base boards, they only offered one for 120v I need 240v (drove across the street LOWES had it). Then I wanted some Krylon flat spray paint, they had none, again none in natural colors. But guess who had it, Lowes! Seriously Home Depot, I don't even like Lowes and I'm upset that I have to go there to get what I need. I also went in on my last trip to buy a Samsung stove (awesome stove by the way) and they had the model I wanted. Got great reviews, had all the features I wanted and I was ready to have them take my money. Then I asked for the military discount............................ah sir the best we can do is $50.00 off. AHHHHH............................................are you serious? So since they are across the street and seem to be crushing Home Depot I went to Lowes. Guess what, they had the same stove priced for a mere dollar more AND honored the posted military discount. Bought the stove on the spot (why Home Depot, why do you torment me?) The answer I get from Home Depot staff is, well were a small store and cant stock much WELL you used to carry this stuff, I used to buy it from you why are you not carrying it anymore. They also tell me , well you can order online and ship to store or home free on a lot of items. Yes that's all well and good but I like most Americans like instant gratification and why would I wait several days for online orders to ship when I can walk across the street and buy it off the shelf for a good price? Not sure what's going on here but it's not good let me assure you, I have even seen some of the staff I knew from Home Depot now working at Lowes. Home Depot used to be my most favorite store to shop. It was a delightful experience where service was top notch. Notice is said WAS! I bought a $3 outdoor plant that took over 45 minutes to purchase having to walk from one end of the store to other, wait in line for a customer "service" clerk that clearly cared NOT that I had been standing there forever, and to finally go to the exact opposite side of the store to finally get checked out and of course walk back to the other end of the parking lot where I was parked. NOT ONCE was there a pleasant word spoken or assistance available. I normally prefer Home Depot over the competitor across 19th, but I'm going there next time! read more
