Ordered a jacket 6 days ago. I received immediate confirmation of my order and my account was charged immediately. 6 days later I hadn't rec'd shipping info. I contacted customer service and after investigation they determined they no longer had the jacket in stock. My order was cancelled. It is highly unethical to not proactively advise the customer that the item is out of stock and to hold their money until the customer calls to inquire. read more

I'm not a shopper, but because Vickie sized me up and knew her products I got 2 prs of jeans, two tops a vest, then she very sweetly & tactfully suggested I needed new shoes. Lol I knew it but didn't know what I wanted. Again she sized me up and found me an awesome pr of walking boots that scream me. Also helped me pick out some MT Silversmith jewelry for myself and my daughter-in-law. I was in and out within a little more then an hr. As I showed my haul to my daughter after gettin home, she said she was in there shopping yesterday - we're going on a trip to Tn no less! My daughter knew exactly who I was talking about because she too had been helped with the super friendly associate with "great style". I'm in there all the time, love your store and had such a fabulous experience we will probably be back again before we go on vaca! read more

Shout out to Nicholas at the gun counter for being honest, friendly, and professional. I came in and inquired about a handgun they had on sale. He gave me his honest opinion of the gun and pointed me to another gun only 10 dollars more that was far more trustworthy. I looked at a number of other handguns and checked out/held several and he gave me a lot of information on each one. Every sporting goods store and gun shop should find employees like him: a young, friendly, and knowledgeable guy more than willing to help first time buyers. As I had the opposite experience at a competing sporting goods store today, my experience at this location yesterday reinforces the quality of the experience here. The employee in the boots section was also very friendly and helpful although I don't recall his name. read more

This store has some of the best customer service I have experienced. I was helped by Vickie on Friday evening. She was so kind, welcoming, friendly and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Called Murdochs one evening to get a snowblower they found the unit I want in stock I wanted to pay for it so I can pick it up the next day they saidThat's not something they do take credit cards over the phone for high-priced items to meet at doesn't make any sense and then they said it's lateWe close in 10 minutes I don't think anyone's coming to pick it up we'll have a few here tomorrow and it takes a while to fill out the paperwork just come in tomorrow morning and will have it for you showed up there in the morning The drive was two hours to get there I left my house two hours before they open so I was there when they opened and what do you know they sold it that night and I wasn't able to purchase the unit I want I had to buy a less horsepower snowblower that really doesn't cut it for the job I need I need the bigger one read more

Customer service is lacking. I bought several bags of livestock feed and the girl checking me out was too lazy to walk around the counter to scan the bags. She leaned over and tore the label off to scan. So now I can't check the ingredients if I need to. She also never offered any help loading the feed. read more

Went in to purchase a $700 gun 6:10pm 10/27. Guy at the gun counter was a complete ass for no reason. Asked to see the gun. After he checked it over like all should do before handing it to a customer he held it out of reach and asked what the guy behind me needed...(Gave that guy the wrong info) When I finally got to look the gun over he questioned everything I did even though he lacked knowledge of every firearm there. Plenty of other places much more courteous and knowledgeable to do firearm business with. read more

They not only had a great selection, but Vickie went above and beyond to help me find the perfect set! The manager of the gun department is incredibly disrespectful and refuses to sell guns to people as he pleases. I am a non resident full time student and am permitted to buy firearms. Instead of the manager listening to me as I explained the law to him, he stated "I only sell to Montanans". And then turned his back to me. Incredibly disrespectful and I definitely won't be shopping here any time soon because of this. read more

I purchased a few items from these guys a few days ago. Turned out a pair of pants I bought were slightly too tight and small after wearing them for a few hours. I called and talked to Betsy, what a lady. She allowed me to return my pants and either pick up another pair of something of equal value. Ended up with a few shirts out of the deal. I did not have my receipt at the time luckily they looked it up. That was the best customer service I've ever experienced. Support local!! And the environment doesn't suck either with all the good looking ladies. read more

I use to be an avid Murdoch's shopper, bought my horse supplies there, dog food, etc., etc. Unfortunately for Murdoch's after my experience last night I will shop at Cowpokes. I went in to Murdoch's to by a salt block with selenium and a bag of bird seed, total was $23.98, I was going to pay with a $100.00 gift certificate, the checkout operator was very nice but said I couldn't get cash back, I said I understood that, but could there be a balance put on the certificate. She called a manager who said I either spent the balance or basically give Murdoch's $76.02, maybe the manager could have offered to put the balance on a Murdoch's gift card. After reviewing the instructions on the gift certificate I did see where there was no cash back, didn't say that the balance couldn't be carried over or put on a gift card, the manager was very unprofessional. The young lady checker was extremely sweet. I took the third option that the manager also neglected to mention, I took my gift certificate and left. The store is the Hamilton, MT store. read more

Went to have these guys mount a scope I purchased from them on Veteran's Day. They installed the rings backwards and couldn't figure out why scope wouldn't fit. Showed them ring-mount instructions and they said it wouldn't make a difference. Blamed the ring mounts instead of taking responsibility for their own ignorance. 4 trips to the store to deal with trying to get scope mounted (5 if you include the purchase). They let me walk out of store unhappy. Drove to the 4 Corners store and told them of my experience. In under 10 minutes, they swapped mount rings, installed scope and bore-sighted. Perfection! Thanks Ty and Kollin! 25 years and thousands of dollars shopping at the Bozeman store. . . tired of the lack of customer service. The guys are too busy stocking shelves/changing displays and the girls are too busy being pretty behind the counter. Don't think I'll ever step foot in the Bozeman store again. Drive to 4 Corners if you want real service. read more

I hate writing negatives but want to give this store some feedback. I called to inquire about equine products for sale and was put on hold to "get someone". I waited a long time and finally someone picked up again, answering as if I had just called. I said "I've been waiting a long time to speak to someone in your Equine department. ". She said "let me see if I can get someone this time". I waited again, then someone picked up and hung up. I guess I will be going to Bridger feeds. I hate writing negative reviews but every time I've been in here I felt kinda unwelcome. Never been greeted or offered help once, even though there are always plenty of people working. All I really wanted was help with some boots but I didn't feel like I could approach anyone. I love their selection, and I can appreciate the casual environment but I wish the customer service was a little different. read more

Just spent a week in Big Sky and Bozeman vacationing with my family. We really wanted to go shopping for some boots and western-wear but had trouble finding a store. Finally on the last day of our trip a gas station attendant told me to try Murdoch's. JACKPOT! This was exactly what we had been looking for. I would never have stopped here if I wasn't told they had what we wanted, it looked like a Home Depot or Lowes if you were just driving by. But inside is the most fabulous selection of Boots, hats and clothing and sparkly belts. We bought a ton of stuff, which incidentally they shipped to his here in Massachusetts for a flat fee of $10.00. Of all of our stops between Yellowstone, Big Sky, Virginia City and Bozeman, this was by far the best shopping experience. Staff was great and the selection was extensive. read more

Okay the deal with Murdoch's is they aren't the cheapest in town, but they will occasionally price match to be competitive. However on things like chainsaws, weed wackers, lawn mowers, etc I don't go anywhere else. The reason I buy the bigger things from them are the customer service, they excel at it. I've had several issues with my gas powered things over the years and these guys are always helpful. I usually buy the extended warranty of stuff I use hard which helps also. But the staff here is always polite and helpful as can be. Will continue to shop here for those types of items. read more

JC, at the Bozeman store, is super helpful with meeting all our dog food needs. Murdoch's is our first choice for our ranch shopping.

Found a few people whom were a little short on common sense. Check out girl seamed completely lost when I asked a question. They have some great people, but I think they could find some grown up and had some gifts in common sense and art of communication. Great Buisness model but some don't exactly mirror that model Just a note to company that wanted to know date and time, November 28, 15 after the sale of the year folks. I'm trading at another store now. Maybe get some people a little older with some skills. Not stocking skills. People skills I also think that some of your help profile shoppers. Not anymore with me. I like Murdoch's, a lot. Not just because of their staff, products, and prices, but because they are very involved in the community. They let local organizations host fundraisers at their stores, they volunteer, and they sponsor countless events. Next time you go to an event, just look at the list of sponsors. There's a very good chance Murdoch's is on it. read more

Murdochs denied purchase and escorted out a man who wanted to buy a gun, after declaring he was a combat veteran. WTF? Really!?! This man gets treated like this and humiliated in public after serving our country. He is probably trained more in depth with firearms than the average person walking into Murdochs to purchase a firearm. Shame on you Murdochs. I can get what you sell elsewhere. read more
