If I could give them a zero, trust me - I would. The store personnel are rude and unhelpful. I purchased an item that needed to be unlocked (understandable). As people in Home Depot walked by I asked for help - they either said it wasn't their area or said they didn't know the combination. I got a person's attention that was working near the self checkout. She started to help me and a woman employee that was bs'ing with another employee stopped her and told her to page "hardware" - I waited another 10 minutes and finally went to that woman and asked her if she was going to help. Why I am writing this - on the way to the store my GPS said they were rated 2.7 (I didn't even know people wrote Yelp reviews on Home Depot). So I mentioned to the woman "I now see why you are rated low on Yelp." Her response - not me! I am not rated low I have been here 20 years. If Home Depot employs this woman for 20 years, it's obvious why they are a 2.7 on Yelp!. read more

We have been to HD daily for a week... helping a friend move and fix up the new place... you might know how that goes.... We have purchased electrical gear- volt meter, new socket, 3-way bulb, extension cords etc. Also for the painting crew that had to do a few removals of prongs, cables, and lighting fixtures, so we bought small Sheetrock pieces (thanks for having them ready to go), dry wall anchors and drill bits. Found the perfect drill motor too. Best of all, staff is Friendly, Knowledgeable and often walks us to the thing we need! Refunds are quick and easy too. I was in the area running some errands and needed a new shower head and a few things for the garden so I popped in. First off, they have a beautiful garden section. Everything, even in to July, was in great condition. Healthy, blooming, and beautiful. A lot of the time things start to look a little sad by this time of the summer but everything looked great. Everyone was super helpful, too. I was looking for some animal proof chicken wire and I asked the guy in the garden center and he directed me to where to find it indoors in the fencing area. I ran inside and easily found the fencing section, along with a great selection of shower heads. Self checkout was easy. The store was clean and well organized and everyone I encountered was super friendly. Not a bad visit at all! read more

I cannot fully express how grateful I am for the excellent customer service my husband received last week at the Brighton Home Depot! At a little after 8pm On Thanksgiving Eve our well pressure tank sprung a leak! We were completely panicked because we were hosting 20 guests the next day! We realized we didn't have the right supplies So my husband headed to your store! I called because the store was scheduled to close in 15 minutes and I wasn't sure if my husband would make it in time! They were so NICE and understanding! They even stayed at least 45 minutes after closing to help him. THANK YOU so much - I am sure they wanted go home and be with their families but stayed and helped him find a solution so we could still host our family the next day. You all are the best! read more

Ordered a new refrigerator. It was delivered 2 days late and the delivery guys refused to remove the doors to get it into the room. I had indicated that the unit was going into a basement. Lazy, rude, worthless...had to reschedule the pickup of the old unit 10 days later. I called service... she couldn't have cared less...she made me miss the old days when the customer service people didn't speak English but at least they TRIED! read more

Store might be OK for little, off-the-shelf purchases, but stay away from their "professional services" at al cost! We worked with the Home Depot in-store kitchen design team for nearly a year planning the perfect kitchen for our new construction dream home. We ordered nearly $30,000 of cabinetry based on this design and based on their projected timelines. Unfortunately, not only were the delivery timelines missed time after time, but the cabinetry received was not what was ordered. As we had sold our other home and had to complete construction to avoid becoming homeless, we paid our finish carpenter thousands of dollars extra to make on-the-spot adjustments and fabricate custom pieces just to assemble a kitchen that would pass inspection and allow us to obtain our Certificate Of Occupancy. It was unclear whether the mistakes had happened at the vendor, or within the ordering system/process, and the in-store manager was, at first, very apologetic and tried to re-order the cabinets that had come in misconfigured. As time passed and some of the re-ordered pieces came into their inventory, they refused to handle the installation and wanted us to pay to rip out the old/wrong cabinets and install the new ones. Eventually, corporate office got involved and instructed the manager to stop all communications with us. We eventually filed a complaint with the BBB, in response to which corporate sent out a form-letter offering us $1000. Their response was anything but sincere as they had not inquired into any of the details, nor did they even reference the correct product/order. I tried reaching out to their "Resolution Expeditor" numerous but all my emails/messages went unanswered. So now, due to the utter incompetence of the HD in-store team, and the indifference of their corporate offices, we're out thousands of extra dollars and, perhaps even more importantly, our new kitchen is a far cry from what we planned/envisioned. read more

This is my favorite home improvement store chain hands down. This particular store serves the greater Brighton area and has the same merchandize lineup that you will see in all the other stores. Same great products to include contractor grade tools and sales associates who are very knowledgeable in the the area/merchandize they are responsible for. On this particular trip I was buying material for a deck I was building for my son and needed a little help/guidance on the project. What I got was not one but two suggestions on how to do the area I needed help on and a suggestion on which one I should follow. You definitely don't get this at the other big chain home improvement stores nor the contractor grade tools that this chain carries. Per Yelp rating definition I am truly a big fan. Took photo of display showing product I wanted, no shelf tag, no assistance anywhere, Customer Service called lawn guy (he's helped me before) who steered me to flooring where a guy was sitting in a chair, took me to a shelf tag and said look online only to find out that isn't even the correct product. (while waiting for customer service another guest needed help keying multiple door locks he was purchasing and there was a great debate about who could do that)! I want to give a shout out to Gene who helped me find the right reduction moulding. I saw online that there were 3 in stock of the one I needed. I arrived to find the slot woefully empty. Gene was busy, couldn't turn around without another customer needing him. He was polite and knowledgeable as I waited my turn. Finally it was my turn and I told him my dilemma. He scanned the empty slot and said, yep we're supposed to have 3. He looks up to a area filled with all sorts of backup reduction moulding. He says "Be right back" and a minute later he shows up with a ladder. He's up there in the sky looking through a bundle of mismatched pieces. He hands one down, nope, wrong color, hands me another and we have a winner! He found 2 so I got to select the nicer grained one for my mom's 75 year old wood floors. In case anyone was curious about my order from Home Depot - since its been 2 weeks, and no one has bothered to call me about a replacement. I called them again. Still no dryer, still no eta either. Found out that they no longer make the one I ordered back in june. So. They'll get back to me on what they will give me for a replacement. When they will get the type they're going to replace it with they will let me know.(doubtful at best with ME having to call them). When I asked the samsung representative about when she expected that to be, she hung up on me. I didn't raise my voice, I didn't swear. I was politeand explaining that I've heard the same thing she was telling me. I've been very patient this whole time because I understand how frustrating it can be to be a customer service representative. But. Hanging up when i ask the question - not ok. So. Im back on hold. Another 30 minutes later. They don't have my dryer and someone will be contacting me within 72 hours (same thing they told me 13 days ago mind you). And they will let me know what my options are. If it doesn't match or they dont anything comparable, I'm just out..... and they won't let me return the washer that I bought it with, to have a matching set. Asked what I could do, he gave me no options. I asked if I was getting a discount since I have to cart my laundry out of the house and pay to do it, even though I've already paid to have a dryer in my home that I don't have- his reply was that I needed to wait to find out IF they will do that by contacting the store manager a the howell location AFTER I GET A DRYER. So. This is great. How can you run a business with customer service like this? Without standing behind ANYTHING?? I get things being out of stock, but just to allow a customer to buy your product with NO guarantee of even getting it? AND when they call to ask, you get hung up on??? They sell "lemons" and the. tell you to take it up with the manufacturer. Finding a competent person when you call the manufacturer takes more time than it's worth. Then they tell you nothing we can do. We purchased a Maytag dishwasher that broke after two years. Motor stopped working. We purchased a new motor and the motor quit again, a year later after the first one. The technician said our steel coating was warped and dented and water is leaking into motor. Well that's not what we wanted to hear. We have no dishwasher and we wanted this one to last ten years not three. We have to get hundreds more for a new one after we spent hundreds on the motor and labor hoping it will last awhile. Maytag and Home Depot cost us thousands of dollars out of pocket and they don't care about the "lemons" they are selling. Home Depot won't help us at all and Maytag offered us $300 off a new dishwasher. I just want a new dishwasher to feel whole again and i'm not getting. screwed. Too much to ask for. I recently purchased wood flooring from the Brighton Home Depot. The delivery group canceled 4 times after we remained home waiting. Finally they arrive only to leave the flooring in the cold and snow blocking the driveway. They refused to carry items up more than 2 steps and will not use a back door. Service was rude and uncaring. I had to carry all the flooring in myself at 74 years old as the installers needed wood room temperature for 3 days. I did call the store explained situation and they did remove delivery charge. Make sure you know the delivery rules. read more

I feel like I could work here I've been here so many times with the new house. I know each aisle, where specific merchandise is binned and I know some of the staff by first name. We were in the area grabbing a bite to eat and decided to stop in and look at flooring options for a house project we are working on. I was annoyed at first because I had a hard time finding the Traffic Master Allure vinyl plank flooring, and then was more annoyed they didn't have the color option I had seen at a different location. I happened to be walking through the department on the way to look at kitchen cabinets when I saw a pallet of 20 boxes of a similar color, same product, on clearance for 92 cents a square foot, versus the normal price of $1.79 per square foot. My annoyance melted away into pure joy! One of the store employees looked up the inventory of other stores in the area, and although the price wasn't clearance there, who cares when I only had to pay full price for two additional boxes to complete my project??? read more

Do not buy appliances from Home Depot, especially the Brighton, Michigan store!! Unfortunately, I purchased a clothes washer and dryer set. I bought high-end Maytag products, and I specifically requested a washer with an agitator. I even supplied the model number and a picture before pointing out the washer in the store to the salesperson. During delivery, I received a different washer without an agitator. When I complained to the store manager on duty I was told there has been a backlog of trying to obtain washers with agitator. The salesman did a bait and switch in the system without telling me what he did! The delivery service they use to deliver and install the appliances is awful! They did a test run on the washer and did not wait to see if it was actually working. I had to pay a plumber an additional $200.00 to properly set up my washer. The dryer did not get installed and I have been waiting over six weeks with rescheduling after rescheduling because of errors by the delivery service. All I receive from my complaints is "sorry we have to reschedule because no one submitted a work order. Nothing but runarounds by the store staff and management. I was even failed by Corporation resolution staff John who promised me a resolution of install on August 5th, which never happened again!!! I am DONE with Home Depot's inefficiencies and don't care attitude. read more

Meh. It's a chain hardware store. I was trying to rent their truck to take some lumber home. My husband called and they couldn't/wouldn't give us any info over the phone. We had to go to the store to rent the truck. So we drove up there only to find out it was already out and they weren't sure when it would be back. (This was within the hour after they opened, not in the middle of the day.) Ok... They don't allow you to schedule a time, it's first come, first served. They did offer to call us when it came back in the store. Three hours later we get a call that it's back and they can "hold" it for us for 15 minutes. It takes us longer than 15 minutes to get to the store. Ugh. Needless to say we opted to rent a truck elsewhere and purchase our materials from a different store. read more

The guy that greets people and makes sure they don't steel stuff through the front door is also the guy that stands in the middle of the open door in the morning and watches you get out of your vehicle, walk across the parking lot in 30 degree temperatures, so he can tell me the employee's need more time to run heavy equipment. Probably like the vacuum the lady was running in the background. Apparently he's a manager or something. He's greeting employees at the door. He sure runs a tight ship. Time for me to change stores. Seems like a manager would be more concerned with employees taking up front row parking that could speed up the convenience of the shoppers, instead of the strict policing the front door to make sure those pesky customers don't get in a minute early. read more

I'm a contractor (exterior painting) and I often choose The Home Depot over paint specific stores for a few reasons. This particular Home Depot in Brighton has a well staffed paint department that can process my requests quickly and get me moving to the jobsite efficiently. They offer quality products at great prices, easily beating the price and selection available at paint specific stores. The Behr Marquee paint is excellent and competitively priced against other brands. Josh, Kim, Paree are all friendly, helpful and fast. The problem I often have with Home Depot in general is I can end up waiting a very long time to get my paint mixed and it can cause disruptions in the work flow of my day, but this does not happen at the Brighton store. Returns and exchanges are also easy and quick at this store. read more

The customer service personnel are wonderful, but unfortunately this home depot contracts with a local appliance delivery company (Final Mile?) that is incredibly unprofessional. We were waiting on a much-needed fridge, had everything packed in tubs waiting for the delivery...an employee called saying they would arrive within 30 minutes and never did. We called many times for clarification on their arrival status, and no one ever answered. The worst customer communication and service that I have received in sometime. The Brighton Home Depot like a prison camp. If you spend $5k on appliances,the another $5k on cabinets,you absolutely get no extras at all. Not a dishwasher hookup,not even a $5 plastic divider for a drawer for the new cabinets,not a single screw to hang them. Then 7 days later,go to buy a new 9ft handrail for the stairs,the piece is already cut by someone,9ft 3inchs, go to check out and Home Depot wants to charge me for the extra 3 inches. I tell the cashier that I just spent $10k a week ago and she absolutely couldn't care less. So I tell them " cut it then if you want your 3 inches" ,they did and threw it in the garbage right in front of me, and the 9ft rail that's left is now splintered at the end and I can't use it. It was the last straight piece of that style they had. Their suggestion,buy a more expensive one. This is the worst store in Michigan. Poor experience at the Brighton Home Depot. I received a 10% off any in store purchase coupon from Home Depot corporate. Found a walk in shower enclosure online that we liked so went to BRIGHTON store to purchase. BRIGHTON store did not have in stock so I was told they would have to order it making it an online purchase and not eligible for the 10% off. I debated the fact that them not having the item in stock should not constitute an online purchase on my behalf. My debate fell on deaf ears. I left the store quite angry due to their "who cares" attitude and decided to call then store manager. Upon sitting on hold for a few minutes a person comes on the phone and says this is Matt. I gave Matt my name and explained my disappointment. Matt said let me put you on hold for a minute and I'll see what I can do. Again I sat on hold for a few minutes before LeeAnn now comes on (don't know what happened to Matt?) and says I think we can get this resolved. I stated that was great and that we were still in BRIGHTON and I could return to the store within a few minutes. LeeAnn informed me to come to the courtesy desk and ask for her. I did as told and when I asked to speak to LeeAnn the person I was talking to stated "that's me". I gave her my name and she was familiar with my saga. She was finishing up with another customer so I went and picked up some other needed items and returned to the courtesy desk. Upon my return LeeAnn asked me for my "promo code" to which I responded I wasn't sure what that was. She said Matt said you had a promo code (which I never stated to Matt) and that would be needed for me to receive the 10% discount that my coupon offer stated. She then suggested I open another Home Depot credit card (yes I already have one) and that would make me eligible for the 10% discount. I was very frustrated at this point and left the store. Went home and found the exact same item at DecorPlanet.com for $150.00 less than the Home Depot's 10% off price (which they would not honor) and free shipping to my front door. Needless to say I ordered it from DecorPlanet.com and am awaiting my shipment. I think what frustrated me the most as a customer who has spent literally tens of thousands of dollars at various Home Depot's around the country that they would work so hard to decline me a $169.30 discount on a $1,693.00 purchase. So I wanted to get my entire house's flooring redone with Home Depot. I have 3 bedrooms, two living rooms, and a kitchen I wanted done. I had good financing options and the rough estimates seemed good. So I spoke with Eddie when I was putting the rough estimate together and he said to just give him a call when we wanted to get a measure done. Call him SPECIFICALLY so that he can make sure the measure is ordered properly. So we did, and we paid the $35. So the guy comes to my house to measure and he says I have one bedroom? I'm like no...all of my bedrooms. He's like well this order says one bedroom. I explicitly told Eddie. 3 bedrooms. So now the guy that came to measure is behind on his schedule for the day and he proceeds to measure the house and leaves. And then it occurs to me that he never measured my kitchen. So I called him and said I needed my kitchen measured. He said yeah I don't have a kitchen on my list for your house so you need to call the store and get ANOTHER MEASURE SCHEDULED. So we call Eddie and tell him we need our KITCHEN measured. I just received a call from the measuring guy to confirm that he needs to measure two bedrooms tomorrow morning. Nope. Still my kitchen. Needless to say if I'm already having this many issues at the ESTIMATE stage, I'm not getting my flooring done with Home Depot. Thanks for screwing up at this stage and before you could screw up my flooring guys. read more
