Now that I have my own place, it's convenient to have the Plymouth location. Each location has slightly different stuff so it's cool to check out both places for plants and ideas and Christmas trees!!! EG is the ONLY place I go for Christmas trees. The variety in species and size and quality is the best here. So much so, that for the last +20 years, my best friend and I go together to buy our trees. We make an afternoon of it. Walk around to check out trees, then walk through the store at all the accessories and decorations. Each year we always buy one new ornament. It's such a special tradition and I love that it's English Garden that we do it with.

The inside of the building has items from various garden related vendors (except for one - I will get to that one in a minute): fairy garden items, bird houses, yard decorations, etc. They also have food items from several Amish bakeries and oh my, the hand pies are excellent! Thankfully for my waistline I only had a bite of my husband's apple hand pie after we left or I would have gone back in and one of every flavor. Where Salem Gardens stands out is their dedication to plants that are unique. Yes, you will find marigolds (standard for all gardens for pest control) but they have an amazing assortment of other plants that are truly different. They have the best popcorn, breads, and cookies. The owners, a 40+ year landscaper and his wife, put decades of knowing and care into this shop. They built it by hand, and crafted it to be an incredible community space. They host fun community events like glass cutting and fairy basket making classes. The prices are incredibly reasonable. This is about a 45 minute drive from me but I know I'll be back!!! A well worth visit

Our first purchase with them went well and they were helpful with material estimates and planning. As for our second experience with them, it appears they were in a hurry to get the job done and the quality of their work fell short of our expectations. After calling them several times and explaining the issues with their work, we could never get them to come back out to address the problems. We were disappointed in the lack of customer service and the results of the work they did. It has taken an additional six hours of work to correct their mistakes. (Wrong color pavers used, failure to complete the job, use of substandard material, failure to follow up, etc.) I would not recommend them for paver work.

They also implied that putting more workers on a task would increase the price without taking into account any increased efficiencies. It felt like they pulled the number out of a black box and expected me to just accept it. Huge red flags.
