Bought a washing machine after they said it was in store and they could deliver it to the backyard. Went home and received a call telling me they couldn't actually deliver it. Went back to rent a van and get the machine, it wasn't there. Asked for a refund only to find the money wouldn't be actually returned to my Visa for 72 hours. So the lied to me twice, locked up $600 on my Visa and locked up another $600 in my bank account that went to pay the Visa. So now I can't even go buy a washing machine because of these idiots. I went to the Home Depot on Macleod Trail at 3pm on Saturday Dec 26th, 2021 looking for a Black and Decker Workmate. I asked the Sale Associate if they had any in-stock. I looked up into the racks and spotted 4 of the workmates in the rack. I asked the Sales Associate if they could get one down for me please and he responded that it was boxing day, it was cold and they were short staffed. Upon approaching the Sales Associate (Dark hair in a pony tail) he was speaking with 5 other Home Depot Employees with orange aprons on. The Sales Associate told me that this was a problem to get this down and they would have to call me when they had time to get it down. I told the Sales Associate that I would help him get it down and he responded no that was not going to happen. This is not the first time that I have experienced very poor Customer Service and Lazy Employees at this Home Depot location. I will be now be patronizing LOWES as my one and only experienced at LOWE's I received Outstanding Customer Service and even a carry out of my purchase. read more

We purchased an appliance package for my kitchen, we ordered a new fridge, range, and dishwasher. We ordered in January and finally got delivery in May after 3-4 delays with the delivery date, originally supposed to be delivered at the beginning of March. The biggest concern we paid for the gas range, dishwasher, and fridge to be installed. The delivery crew arrived and dropped our appliances in place and removed the range and fridge. I asked them if they were going to connect the range, fridge and dishwasher. The delivery crew doesn't do this...I later find out that the delivery crew is supposed to connect the water line on the fridge. I called Home Depot as I was very frustrated that there was no installers, they advised that they installers don't come same day...4 days later after numerous calls and hours (3 hours before the call back service called me back) on the phone trying to get an installer to get to our house. The expectation here is that you need to be prepared to eat out and not have access to your appliance. A further issue arose when the installer on-site arrived and only had the range and dishwasher on his work order. I said can you connect the fridge as well, no it's not on the work order. I get back on the phone to Home Depot and they wanted to transfer me to a department that I declined. Finally the rep got the fridge added to the work order. The tech was concerned he wouldn't get paid if it wasn't added to the work order as he had numerous run around trying to get paid. Then the dishwasher wasn't fitting correctly and the tech was going to need to move an electrical outlet so the dishwasher could fit properly but moving an electrical plug isn't included and that cost was to be arranged between me and the technician...$50 cash is what he requested. Thankfully he forgot this extra cash as he could probably tell I was frustrated earlier when I spoke to Home Depot. Needless to say I didn't feel valued after they got my money in January. Terrible customer service. Every time we've asked for help we're told where to go here and there and left. No one guides us to the product to show us what they're talking about. Half the time we're lead to a section that isn't helpful. I'm not sure anyone knows where anything is. It seems there's a lack of product knowledge. A special shout out to the ladies working in the paint section. They flat out ignored us while we waited at the till for ten minutes. Both women saw us and the one actually walked past us twice without acknowledging us. I decided to make a complaint and the manager was adamant that they were his "best two ladies" insinuating it must have been us... I'm taking my business to Lowe's. read more

I have had work done from this home depot on more than on occassion, and it has always been a positive experience. I have used their installation services on the following: 1. Carpet 2. New Exterior doors and storm doors I have also dealt with Home Depot on getting quotes for laminate flooring installations, as well as a new back deck. I have to save for those ones.... :) I will continue to utilize Home Depot`s installation department, simply because they are happy and eager to do smaller jobs, that are tough for me to find general contractors to do at a reasonable price. If I was doing a full-fledged renovation, then I suppose I would have a lot of options. However, in having smaller jobs done in the $500 - $2000 range, Home Depot continues to win my business! read more

I had a tile install done from Home depot 3 months ago. Advance floooring is only contractor who are hired for home depot and they are all trying to scam us and they came back atleast 5 to 6 times after me requesting them everytime . Amy was the one who gave messages to Tim quality assurance manager. But he never returned my phone calls. and I was the one who requested and no one followed up with me. All the time i had to call them, and followup with them. Home depot and Advance flooring was extremely unhelpful and blamed everything on us we used the solution incorrectly which is not true. Here is my story. 1) Advance flooring : 1st time - Representative name was shawn, he mentioned that he has never do full feature wall install and only has done back splashes, he also said that cleaning has to done by the customer only. It is not in the contract. I paid more than 5000 of my hard earned money and no one could help me. After the wall was done. There was no shine on the natural stone ceramic tile. And when we asked shawn from Advance flooring that the how can we make this look the way we bought the natural stone. He said to use stone sealer and enhancer. 2) Home depot: We went to north hill home depot and spend another $150 and representative named was billy. And he mentioned us and told us to use the instructions. To use the stone enhancer and th use the grout sponge and from other side and dry it out. Also he did mention that once it is dried it should look fine . But it left the haze behind. Now dwayne who is Asm of home depot chinook is mentioning 8000 more to fix the problem and blaming us that you did n follow the instructions properly, which is not true, because i did First they tell us to clean by ourself. We are the customer, we do not know ABC of tile installation. Thats why we spent a lot of money but they are the one who is responsible for tile installlation. They say in tile contract only basic installation is covered not cleaning. And when Tim came in, he mentioned that it is not in a contract to completely clean. What are we paying them money for. Tim also said home depot should pay us more and amend the contract. But customers do have expectations to make sure the job is done to its perfection. They did not level the tiles properly. Its their responsibility, if they come in back and orth after cleaning wait for 3 days amd then polish if needs to dry come back. But they dont do anything liike that. We have been on the phone back and forth with home depot almost three months now ,and still my problem is not fixed. My wife feet was cut and still we went physically to home depot chinook yesterday morning and told Dwayne, we are not paying anything extra. As there have been too much frustration with all this and we followed exact intructions given by home depot. He said that you ve to pay half money again. And also said that whatever you want to do any complaint to consumer court. Thats your right to do, but they do not want to help us. If you're looking for a new Samsung Fridge and Stove, reconsider! Home Depot sold me the Samsung set with promises that if a repairman came out 3 times to replace a part, I would then get my choice of another appliance to replace the Samsung. Right off the fridge was not working. My food spoilt due to temperature swings and although Home Depot sent a repairman out, he had to come back in 2 weeks after he ordered the part from Korea! I did without a fridge until then. Once the parts were put in the problem remained. I tried all the workarounds that I could think of, but it was useless. The stove is still dehydrating and undercooking my food and burning anything I put on the cooktop. I was forced to use my toaster oven and crockpot to cook with while I tried to get some resolution from Home Depot and then Comerco. Comerco staff was rude and uncaring. I was told that my stove was made to turn up high on the cooktop since there was no such thing as a medium to low heat on my Samsung stove. It only went from high to off and then back to high again. They also wouldn't believe me when I said the timer on the stove didn't work properly and the oven temperature was uneven. Their solution was for me to cook a store-bought box cake in the oven then take pictures of it when it was done. Since I only cook from scratch, I couldn't comply, and Comerco refused to send anyone out. Finally, the stove was giving an error code and Comereco had to send someone out. Whether the gentlemen changed out a part or not, I cannot say. He was between the stove and the wall so I couldn't see. He told me that my stove was designed to last 5 years anyways, then off he went. Both my stove and fridge are still not working. I just recently made brownies in the stove and despite turning up the heat another 25 degrees higher and cook the brownies twice as long, the middle of the brownies was raw dough. It took three times the regular time to finally get them cooked, but by then they were burnt on the outside and top! My fridge is running coolish right now and although I purchased a bar fridge to take some of the load off the Samsung fridge, It made no difference. I am always throwing food away! If I don't get my cooked fresh organic vegs ate up within 3 days, they end up all slimy and stinking. I got a lot of empathetic looks from the Home Depot staff once I was in Comerco's grip, but they couldn't do a thing for me and Visa Versa. Like the old saying goes, once bitten, twice shy... Stay away from Samsung, Home Depot and Comerco if you want your sanity. All three companies spell disaster! read more

I come here fairly regularly now to get supplies for work. Most of the time I need plywood ripped into 2-3" strips. The shop I work in doesn't have the space for me to have a panel saw to rip the sheets myself so I'm relegated to having Home Depot do it for me and generally, not do it correctly. I haven't been able to find anyone in the city yet that can do this for me at a reasonable price so I can avoid this nightmare. The first problem is that they don't like to do more than two cuts on a sheet, but they'll happily charge you for additional cuts. I am happy to pay, but sometimes they'll tell you to come back later if they're too busy dealing with contractors. When did Home Depot turn into a wholesaler? I understand they're getting more money from a contractor buying materials for a job site, but if your store is all about home improvement why are you turning away individual customers? The second problem is that the staff are useless. If I ask for a cut that is 3" then I want one that is 3", not 2 7/8". Learn how to use the saw and do things properly. This isn't rocket science. Luckily I don't need the strips to be exact and have taken some bad cuts just to get out of the store within the same hour I came in. read more

The Home Depot on Macleod Trail is my go to spot for home supplies. I recently moved from a condo into a house and have made multiple trips and purchases. Among those purchases include a natural gas BBQ, a bunch of tools for the yard, indoor paint and painting supplies, cleaning supplies, and a number of other small purchases. On occasion I will need to ask someone working in one of the departments for help. There are always a ton of employees around that are knowledgeable and will take the time to give you a good answer. When asked, the employees will often walk you over to where the products you are looking for are located and help you select the right one. The main point of my review is that every visit I've made to the Home Depot has been positive and I always leave with the product I need. What more can you ask for? In addition to everything I said above, this Home Depot was our go to spot for supplies during the flood. We always found what we needed, whether it was gloves, rags, lights, dehumidifiers and pressure washers! It saved us a ton of time being able to come here and know that they would have what we need in stock! read more

This Home Depot's greatest attraction for me is having a covered drive through; so having to buy 6 foot planks and shelving for a housing project attracted me to this location. Home Depot also has the convenience of huge carts that are very easy to manoeuvre when moving these very large long items. It is however an extremely massive store so the advantage of having a complete inventory of course is of great convenience when shopping for your project needs but having to find that particular screw or chain type however can be tedious. Thankfully there is tons of staff around who are willing to point you in the right direction but as Chad W my fellow yelper states they don't usually stick around. I was quite happy with my shopping at this Home Depot until I needed my planks sawed in half to fit into my SUV and after waiting 30 minutes in the cutting department, one passerby staff kindly informed me that the saws were not working and the man cutting my planks was not in that day. So basically I wasted an hour, shopping and waiting only to find I couldn't actually bring my product home. Haven't they learned the basics of a sign, it is simply some cardboard and a marker, I mean the store seems to carry everything else including the kitchen sink. This was a bit annoying for me and I had to take my business down the way to Rona. But I would return, besides this isolated incident I usually do leave with everything I need. read more

Other locations ive breen to sometimes dont have evrything in stock. They have a very convenient tool rentl as well. The store is busy aftersupper and especially on saturdays. This location is fortunate to have Caleb as an associate. He's the reason this store has gotten any stars from me. He alone delivers 5 star customer service whereas a colleague of his was more interested in being right than anything else. I'll try to keep it short. We were looking for a door latch that is fitted for older doors. An adjustable one. The colleague whose department is locks and hardware was adamant that all door handles only come in adjustable latches that fit standard door sizes. Never once said that it's possible to buy just the latch and have it fit to a door handle/knob. Never once looked up any items that would fit the description. Caleb on the other hand opened door handle boxes with me, asked another associate that would be more knowledgable and then looked online. The associate he spoke to understood what I was looking for and He found the product I was looking for at a competitor's location. All the while he was calm, professional and helpful. Otherwise, it's a hit or miss here. We've shopped at this location, no word of a lie, at least 30 times in the last 6 months as we are doing renovations. This one's for those of you looking to buy a major appliance...typically the kind of thing you don't want to have to move/adjust/tip/slide or INSTALL yourself. We recently purchased a new w/d from HD on McLeod Trail. To be frank, w/d shopping kinda sucks as there are way too many options. Fortunately, the sales agent in Appliances was very knowledgeable about models and got us to spend our money with confidence in what we were buying. Here's where things go south. Our delivery/install was scheduled for 3 weeks later. The delivery company is a 3rd party that will do NOTHING other than pop the new one in place and take the old one away (if you pay for that service). Meaning, they won't disconnect something that's connected, they don't have parts (that HD failed to tell us we had to buy separately) to connect the new one. Effectively, if it's screwed, they won't unscrew it...and if it's unscrewed, well, you get the idea. HD has charged us for an install. We expect it to be working based on this. They would like us to go back to HD and then reschedule the "Installation Guys" to come back to do this. Before we got into this we were told to go to Coast Appliances. Rats. read more

My last visit to The Home Depot was to get a basic lumber load and get it cut, nothing special. Getting there was easy enough as it's conveniently located on the corner of Macleod Trail and Glenmore, opposite Chinook Centre. Parking was ample and there were plenty of trolleys/carts for items. Inside the aisles are clearly categorized and labeled, but when you actually go down an aisle the organization isn't always clear and they can also be somewhat cluttered/messy. Even in something like lumber, it wasn't clear why things were placed where they were. Finding what I needed was simple enough and I loaded it by myself onto a trolley. I couldn't help but notice that no one was around to help, the whole area was basically barren and the majority of the employees had congregated around the front of the store and were standing around or chatting. Pretty surprising that they don't have more people roaming the floor to actively help people, I could see a lot of customers waiting around and getting frustrated and just leaving because of it. Not only that, but not all customers are equipped to be pulling items off the shelf and loading them. I couldn't help but notice an older man struggle with his load, so I ran over to help. I needed some lumber cut so I left my trolley next to the saw at the back of the store and had to walk all the way up to the front to find someone, they should really have some sort of a "call/buzz for service" option, as I'd imagine this would be a frequent request. The guy I found seemed unimpressed and annoyed, as if I inconvenienced him from whatever he was doing... I simply asked if there's someone available to do a lumber cut "Yup.. that's me *pft*..." We then proceeded to the back of the store, he seemed aggravated the whole time and did not want to make conversation. When we got there "Okay, what do you want..." Sure enough he completed the cuts I needed, but he did not enjoy doing it by any means. He didn't ask if I needed help with anything else. I was happy to head away to the register and leave, but then even at the register, no smile or friendliness was granted either, no "thank you" or "have a great day", just "your total is...". I can see why they changed their slogan from "You can do it. We can help." To "More Saving. More Doing." Because clearly they don't like to help, they just like to let you do it all on your own... Super unimpressed with the service here... It's too bad, because as a department store they really carry a lot of great stuff and they have some good sales as well. They specialize in home improvement and construction items, but they have a lot of other stuff for just regular home purchases and non-DIY people. I won't get into all the good stuff and actual benefits Home Depot offers for this review, yup there are some... But this visit didn't feature any of them, next time I'll probably go to Lowes or Rona. read more

While I have had many positive experiences in store at Home Depot, on-line ordering from them has not been one of them. I ordered an area rug which was promised to be delivered in 7-10 days from ordering, it was apparently shipped 5 days later from the U.S on Nov 30, arrived at the Canadian transfer warehouse on Dec 3, and has been sitting there up until Dec 19 with no promise as to when it will be picked up by someone on this side of the border- except that I'm told it will not be delivered before Christmas. Buyers Beware!!! - Home Depot on Macleod Trail I recently bought a Whirlpool washer and dryer from the store on Macleod. Cost of delivery = $50, including installation as part of the sale promotion. The installation people advised that the short hose for the steam connection for the dryer was missing and that I should contact the store. I phoned the store a few days later and was told that: 1. The appliances manager (Derrick) advised that the store would not be responsible for installation of the missing hose but would facilitate the arrangement of a certified plumber for $160. 2. The appliance manager further explained that a certified plumber would be required to ensure compliance for house insurance and warranty coverage as it connect to the main water line, 3. And further, it would be cheaper than me hiring my own plumber for $90 at hour. Without success, I called the Northeast store, and was advised of the following: 1. The hose was included with the dryer at no extra cost. 2. The connection could be easily done and without a plumber. Quote "In fact, it's so easy that we included this service as part of the free installation." I called the Macleod store again. This time I was told that the store would not be responsible and: 1. I would need to contact Whirlpool regarding the hose. 2. I would have to contact the contractor regarding the installation. I called the Northeast store and explained to them what I went through. They were surprised and readily gave me at no cost a package containing the installation manual, a plastic Y connection and a 2 foot long hose. I connected the hose in 5 minutes the same way I connected a garden hose. Final Grade - * Macleod Store (DDD) - Don't know. Don't listen. Don't care. * Northeast Store (AAA) - Approachable. They have a good selection of tools and painting needs. Most of the time the staff are very friendly and informative but now and then they have no clue. The garden centre has plenty of options as far as soil and other basic needs but sunnyside has a far better selection for live plants. They have tools you can rent such as a power auger. The lumber selection is wide and they are very helpful with your needs when picking up supplies. read more

Home Depot has declined markedly as an organization. I actually prefer RONA, but it is twice as far from my house, so I wind up going to the Home Depot on McCleod often. I also spend considerable time at my home in the U.S. and I shop at Lowe's, which is no more than 500 yards from the Home Depot, so I can't wait for Lowe's to come to Calgary (announced for 2010). The Home Depot in Calgary started putting a greeter just inside the door to answer questions, which is good, but beyond that the help is dreadful. I recently bought two 4'x8' plywood panels that I needed sawn in half lengthwise. After scouring the floor for somebody, I actually found two employees who led me back to the cutting area. They lifted the first panel onto the vertical panel saw and the second guy walked away, leaving me as the helper for the guy operating the saw for the rest of the job. I would have thought their liability insurance would not have allowed this. I pushed the lumber trolley towards the front of the store, stopping a couple of times to look at other stuff, and I passed the same two guys chatting with a mutual acquaintance. It didn't appear that the guy who walked off had anything else to do, as he wasn't doing a darn thing. Besides this recent experience, I find that Home Depots are usually dirty and dusty, not at all pleasant like RONA or Lowe's. Maybe it's the orange color scheme I don't like, I'm not sure. The lumber in Home Depot is really crappy. I pick through 12-15 pieces just to find three that are useable. This store has reasonable stock levels but the friendly staff lack leadership. I was overcharged at their 16 Ave store and they agreed to refund me to the correct price. But when I objected to their pricing on cable I was referred to their chief cashier and their on duty manager, Mark. Mark was less helpful than his staff and kept referring to "policy". They are "not allowed to deal with concerns from a different store". I see a theme in the other comments on the site. They lack empowerment and the only time they show customer service is when their staff go out on a limb. It's Rona for me in the future. read more

We were at Home Depot on Macleod and Glenmore this past weekend looking at carpet. I cannot remember the sales persons name but his ID is EAN2089 and he was awesome! We picked the carpet we wanted and because it was a "rapid install" we were told install would be either Friday or Saturday. We paid the $60 for measuring and were told someone would be by Monday at 4:30 to measure. When Robert was here to measure I paid him for the carpet and gave him to go ahead to order it. He assured me install would be Friday but he said there was a slim possibility it might not be until Saturday. I told him I was off work both days so that is fine, once again he said it should be Friday but we would hear Tuesday. Nothing Tuesday so I emailed him. Nothing until Wednesday early afternoon someone from Ontario calls and says the carpet is back ordered and we won't get it installed until 2 weeks later. So i'm already out and figure i will go to the store like the guy on the phone suggested. Once there i ask the girl to help me find a similiar carpet and i am telling her the story, she suggests getting the manager. This uninterested looking guy comes over and he honestly had the look like he could care less. I tell him my story and i say "if the carpet is guaranteed a rapid install of 4 days and you are telling me that it can't be installed for 2 weeks than it's not a rapid install" he says "you have things in your life that are out of your control and i have things in my life that are out of my control, this is out of my control. I say "you don't really care though do you?" and he replies "it's out of my hands" not once did he try to make the situation better. After I said to the sales girl "the manager didn't really seem to care did he?" and she said "no he certainly didn't seem to care" I also found out he is the assistant manager, Mark Roberts. I think if someone is paying $1400 to get carpet from your store and they are unhappy because of an issue that is your problem, you should probably A. be nicer and B. try to solve the situation so they don't go elsewhere. For this mother's day i ordered a small fridge for my mom. It said will be delivered monday. Come monday the 10th of may 2021, there was an email saying it was in transport. Then on May 11th, it said coming between the 11th-13th. We didn't l3ave our house for this 3 days. Today we called home depot they said they will investigate. Guess what? We are now given the option to pick up in countryhills where hey have 5 in stock Or we wait for anther 3 to 5 days of delivery time? My parents are old. At 75 yrs old really you will ask them to pick up? then why do they have online store ? What was the reason why the fridge has not been delivered if they have this at the store? Negligence or just do care at all? Obliously, they need a very good customer service training and skills. This is the trend now, in this situation online will be the best option people will choose and they have to keep up with it! And how about atleast not marking in transport until sure and emailing 1day before delivery annd calling 30mins before delivery time so that people will not have to do anything but stay at home and wait for an item that God knows when out of the 3 days given will actually come? I don't normally write reviews but had to highlight the poor customer service experienced today at the Home Depot Macleod Trail SW location. I went to pick a trimmer where the particular model I wanted was not on the shelf but the website indicated having 10 in stock at the Chinook location. After waiting 10 minutes for assistance, an employee from another department recommended I check with the Customer Service desk. The lady at the Customer Service counter was of no help. First she insisted I return to the Outdoor Power Equipment section but when I mentioned that I was already there and an employee had referred me to her, she then gave me the run-around. First she advised that although the computer said they have stock on hand sometimes it's not the case, product can be stolen. Then she advised the trimmer I'm after is available at their North Hills location in the NW. I suspected she was lying so left the store, went online using my cellphone and ordered the trimmer on their website for store pickup at the Chinook location. Within the hour I was back at the Customer Service desk picking up the trimmer. I give Home Depot 5 stars for their store pickup service but zero stars for their employees who will lie to your face and give you the run-around, especially those in Customer Service. I have been a loyal customer for years but after this experience will now shop elsewhere for my hardware needs. read more

I bought some blinds from Home Depot and it took 4 months to get them installed. They kept on giving us the runaround and giving us different excuses every time we called. Finally they brought their installer and he said that the window is not straight. (He never said that when he came to measure the window before) I would never deal with Home Depot again. I love going to Lowes and i should have dealt with them instead. I thought i would give a Canadian company my Business but never again. I bought all my landscaping materials from Lowes and they gave me an awesome price. They have very friendly and knowledgeable staff and they answer all your questions. read more

The store does not allow dogs in so I take my business to a place that does-Rona. It's exactly what you would expect from a chain store and similarly to any other staff is hard to find for questions read more

Very poor customer service. I waited to pick up flooring at the wrong desk for over a half hour because a service rep told me to. She called for help to get someone to get my flooring from the back for over a half hour. as I waited. A different service rep walked by and told me I had to go to a different desk to get the flooring, so I was very un happy I waited for no reason for a long duration of time. It took me almost an hour all together to get my flooring from the back and purchased. read more

The last two times I went to this location to get some small household items I was very disappointed with the service each time. The first time I received no help after waiting for almost 30 minutes so I left assuming the employees are too busy to help at the time. I went back and a few days later and it did not turn out much better as the two employees who I spoke with simply took a guess as to where the items might be located and just told me to try looking at two or three different locations in the store. I couldn't not find the items and everyone seemed too busy to give personal help so I went to Rona instead. Within 5 minutes of being at Rona I was directly taken to the items I was looking for. Either this store location has new employees who have yet to learn where the items are located or they're too short staffed and do not have the resources to provide timely customer service. Customer service in past wasn't great but was adequate so I'm hoping this is a temporary problem which will get fixed soon as the location is very convenient for me. read more

Beware anyone APPLYING for a job at the Home Depot in Okotoks AB. Very "LITTLE" staff to go around, very "BUSY" store and very "DIFFICULT" to get a lunch break. I missed "TWO" lunchbreaks in a row due to being so busy and NO staff to cover, never again, its illegal. NOT too mention for those people that are thinking about applying for "OVERNIGHT", 10:00 to 6:30 a.m. "STOCK" shift. You work like a" DOG". Nothing is ever good enough for management, they do make certain that you are getting your regular breaks which is the "ONLY" positive about this position. NOT too mention you get 10% MORE for the overnight shift as opposed to days but there is a "CATCH "as always. "EVERYONE" is being paid" DIFFERENTLY" for the same job which is why I" LEFT". I worked my BUTT off with two other very NICE ladies, lots of very "HEAVY" work involved and I found out that a young man who was hired 3 MONTHS after me was making" $2.00" an hour MORE for the same job.
