I was in the Gender Road Store and bought trim that I only needed 3 - 80" pieces but instead of making 2 cuts I made 1 in the middle getting 2 - 7 footers since they sell them by the foot. I grabbed another piece that someone had already cut 80" out of it and I've done it before and have always been charged for a 7 footer not 88"..... I let the long gray haired lady know and she said I'm always up here and that doesn't happen basically calling me a liar. I took the piece back to the saw and cut off the unnecessary 4". I brought it back up and was treated like I was trying to steel a 4" piece of wood. As a contractor I've bought thousands of dollars of materials every month from Home Depot. I can't believe I was treated like a thief of a precut board that was already cut. I guess I wouldn't be as angry but in the past years I have literally watch people walk out with arms full of tools and they do nothing about it.... Trust me if I had the time I would have taken all of them back and cut them to the 80" and only paid for 80" that I needed. When I came back up to the register I threw the 4" piece of wood in the trash and they literally got it out like they were going to sell it. I mainly shop at Grove city which in my opinion is a 5 star store. I have never been treated so poorly and especially treated like a thief over 4 inches of wood that was already cut to this size by another customer. I have sent 45 emails numerous phone calls and they continue to ignore me. They are not consistent when it comes to having floor model items made available. They tried to offer me a $50.00 gift card for my silence. I literally go to this location every single weekend, as I recently purchased a new home in canal Winchester. I am always able to find what I need. However, it's not always the quickest process, because there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of associates working there ready to help you out around every corner like you would expect at a home store. I would give higher rating if there were more employees walking around ready to help, VS having 3 people watching you scan your purchases. read more

4/6/19 We are hiring Home Depot ( preferred third party installation company) to have flooring installed. Hour wait to speak to a flooring specialist to set a measuring appointment and choose materials. Measuring guy on time, and friendly. Returned to store to discuss measurements and pay for the products. Waited an hour and twenty one minutes for someone to show up and then another twenty minutes waiting our turn. Flooring specialist we spoke to is also the only qualified fork lift operator for this store today. Whom ever he called to get things rolling as far as a measuring appointment and material acquisition had telephone or service issues and maybe their "B" team working today. It would be nine days before our material order would be requested or entered into the com 4/17/19 Called Home Depot to see when my order of flooring materials would be ready for pick up. I was told there was an issue with the order and that he had to talk to someone. Promised a ten-fifteen minute call back. Six hours later, no return call. I called back. It turns out the flooring that was in stock is not enough to cover my project. The material needed would need to be located and picked up elsewhere. Trim is a special order, it has been ordered but has not been shipped. My install date is 4/22, the material needs to acclimate to our home for three days. It appears my installation date will have to be changed to a later date because of the flooring material issues. I was promised a second return call with an order update. Home Depot delivered the flooring so it could acclimate on the 18th. I was told the remainder of the materials would still need to be picked up. Muffler was available, but the trim and other pieces would not be sent out until the 19th, it was being manufactured. It was supposed to be delivered on the 23rd. It arrived on the 24th. Nothing has been communicated to me as to when the second appointment for installing the remaining materials by Home Depot. The flooring was installed as promised on the 22nd. Installers removed the carpeting, but did not take it with them as the padding and carpet had urine stains in them. They understandably did not want old smelly carpet in their van. However, I paid for carpet removal and disposal. Would have been awesome to receive a warning about that little issue. Flooring itself looks good, it darkens up the areas it was laid in, encouraging us to repaint the installation areas with new brighter lighting and repainting with a lighter color pain 5/2/19 Third party installers arrived this morning to complete flooring installation. The trim and rounds had to be special ordered. Special order had to be manufactured. Dates for delivery changed twice and was still delivered to store a day late. Repair kit was on original order, but was removed by Home Depot. The explanation was that the installer provided the repair kit as part of the materials included in the installation cost. Repair kit is nothing more than wood filler to match the cuts on the trim and rounds. Third party installation customer service and interaction was stellar. Kind of funny that the employees from the third party company represented Home Depot far better than the Home Depot employees. My flooring project is now complete. Installation took two days (12ish hours) to complete. Installers came out to finish installation of trim. No repair kit for nail holes and cracks provided by installer, kit was on my initial order but was removed by Home Depot with an explanation the the installer would provide it. Installer did not provide the repair kit. I provided stain and filler, no filler used some of the stain was used. Installer took filler and stain with him when he left. Installer did not do a walk through like the other gentleman did when they installed the flooring material. I did not sign anything the second appointment indicating the second part of the installation was complete and I was pleased with the installation. Two days later while prepping one of the bedrooms I discovered an area that had no trim installed at all, in the closet of the same room there were two pieces that were cut and placed in the closet but not nailed down. Stair piece at top of the stairs was modified to fit , but was the wrong type of trim it was epoxied into place and nailed down, but the nails are not flush or slightly counter sunk. They are clearly visible and half of them protrude from the material snagging socks and scratching bare feet. Nails not tapped in and holes weren't filled filled with filler. read more

I tried several times to receive my military (VA) discount as advertised and was denied 3 of 4 attempts. Once I was told its was because I was not wounded. I served in Vietnam and because I came home safely...no discount? When Another time I showed my VA ID card at the register and was told I needed one with the "red, white and blue flag". I told her the white with some blue card is the one I was issued with a photo and still they denied any discount. The VA has classified me 80% disabled from agent orange and no discount! At Lowes the never question me and often thank me for my service. Lowes only ask that you register your phone number so they can verify you at time of purchase. My wife has even used my card at Lowes with proper ID. As for now...I only go to Home Depot if I am desperate. read more

They are just not friendly looking employees in this store. Maybe the assumed I couldn't afford anything in here or something. I tired to give this place a shot since I just moved to this area but it seems I'm better off traveling to Lowes instead. Last time I came in here. The really old woman they have as a greeter made eye contact with me as I was walking in a turned away and refused to look back at me as I walked past. This time, I stopped by to see what shower heads they had to offer. Upon passing through the front doors, I was pleasantly greeted by a woman - power to the female fixer-uppers in this world!! I'm not one to search and search on my own for a product. My personal motto: If they work there, they should know their establishment." The lady asked if there was anything she could help with, so I took advantage, and asked away. She pointed met the exact section and aisle. BAM! Get 'er done. I don't understand why they have a two star rating. It's a home improvement store that had everything you could ever want and more. There are plenty of workers to ask where something is located, plus they have an app and free WiFi so you can look it it up. It tells you the exact aisle and bin location. Lowe's and Menards have the same concept too. read more

I use the miles on my credit card to get gift cards to buy an electric stove. Home Depot took $700 for two $200 cards. It gets better. I was told they deliver. Just they don't deliver to my area, Hocking County. Hmm. Better still. We had the stove delivered to the store. Yep, they don't carry an inventory. We got a call the stove was delivered. So off we went to pick it up. Three miles into the trip, I turned around to get the receipt. Not gonna forget that. So off we go with the receipt. Upon arrival I go straight to the service desk. The guy behind the desk asked for an ID. Oops, I forgot my wallet. He actually said he would not release the stove (receipt in hand) without an ID. I might be trying to steal it. I'm a retired police officer. And he is suggesting I might be trying to steal an electric stove that I ordered and have the receipt for it. It gets even better. My wife and I head home. I get my wallet and return to the store. At the service desk are to females. I give the receipt and ask for my stove. No ID was requested or offered. I did not need it. And just when you thought it couldn't get better. They ladies call and search for the stove to no avail. Finally a guy goes to the back to search. Upon return he informs me the delivery driver attempted to deliver the stove but couldn't. What? How? Why? I called the delivery service and was told the stove was at the store. Now I had enough. I trekked thru the store asking where the managers office was located. Next to the restrooms. Oh, how appropriate. I explained the situation, and having to drive back and forth to get an ID that was not needed. And now the store employees cannot find my stove. His phone rang. They found my stove. Eureka, it only took me five hours that should have only been 90 minutes effort (drive time included). I will be replacing our windows, all interior doors, kitchen and both bathrooms. Not one red cent will spent at any Home Depot. I will never step foot in this store ever again. Oh and no veteran discount. They are too incompetent. read more

We drove from Cleveland to Canal Winchester Home Depot to pick up an order that was confirmed over the phone for pick up. They didn't do there job and they didn't notice the mistake until after we visited the store. No customer service, the general manager Mr. Storm did not care about the horrible experience at all. We wasted a good Friday on Thanksgiving and got home around 1 in the morning Saturday. The management here is out of control. We are making this complaint to the shareholders. Went there for one thing because the Home Depot we were at didn't have enough in stock. We shop Home Depot all the time because the people are usually knowledgeable and we use our military discount which we have on our license. Wound up spending $200 dollars there but when we showed our license with military ID on it they would not honor it! We were told that you had to have your DD214 (who carries that) or a different type of ID to get the discount and because we did not retire nor were hurt in the line of duty that the other ID was only good on VETERANS DAY! Excuse me, but a VETERAN did NOT sign their life over for a day. They signed a blank check for at least a minimum of 4 years! A veteran is a veteran! SO disgusted with this store! Considering we just shopped at a different Home Depot not even an hour before we came here and veteran was ACCEPTED, we will NEVER shop at Canal Winchester again. We have always thought of Home Depot as a good place to shop but after my recent experience I have changed my mind. Our hot water heater which was less than 4 yrs old broke and flooded the basement. We called the company they said just call Home Depot and they will replace it. We weren't sure what the exact charge would be because of the warranty. This happened on a Friday night. They came to replace it on Tuesday. They were replacing the old tank with the exact same model. When they came to replace it we were given no paperwork. The man shoved his phone in front of me and said sign here and initial in several other places. After the installation I received an emailed bill for $753. I thought the warranty would cover some of the tank itself. I went down to the store to ask how much was installation and how much was the tank. No one could tell me or find out. I found out later that the tank was covered fully. That means we were charged $753 for less than 2 hrs work! The tank cost about $450 new so it cost almost double the cost to install it. It is not like they had to do anything special since it was the same make and model. I am thoroughly disappointed that Home Depot would contract a company that charges such outrageous installation prices. We won't be making any more major purchases from them in the future. read more
