I wish there was a way to give ZERO stars. I normally deal with Lowe's but decided to order a dishwasher through Home Depot. The delivery guy showed up and immediately said he can't install it (though installation was paid for). I was told I'd have to pay a plumber for the install. Luckily the delivery guy said I could reschedule but now I have to pay a plumber after already paying Home Depot. I asked if I could just return it and be done but I can't. I expect better and hold these companies to a higher standard. This is unacceptable but further confirmation that Lowe's is where I should always go for my home needs and appliances. Definitely a valuable lesson. UPDATE: 12 days later, we rescheduled with no refund and our appliance shows up with damage!!! Got me a sweet deal on a Ryobi Orbital Sander. I went for the advertised special of the DeWalt Orbital Sander, five inch, 3 AMP model with sandpaper included...for $59 and touted at $10 off...alas...when I got there...they had run out...and wouldn't sell me the display model. The sales lady observed that the DeWalt Orbital Sander right next to it was available for just $79...she couldn't tell me what the difference was between the two but the $79 model must be better....huh? Is that what you call bait & switch?...oh. don't we love the big box stores...gotta squeeze that buck out of every consumer. I opted for the Ryobi Orbital Sander at $39, same exact featuers as the DeWalt I wanted only at 2.8 AMPS...clearly a big drop in power...NOT! I added the two year warranty for $7 bucks. read more

I had a horrible experience attempting to get measurements for an Interior door. 3 Separate employees of this Home Depot cannot seem to take down a phone number correctly. I then called in a 4th time and mid sentence was put on hold by Cassandra and issued a refund when I specified I didn't want a refund but the service fulfilled. After being transferred again, the information was corrected and then transferred to a supervisor. Once Steven the supervisor picked up he transferred me back to his assistant to handle matters. Very unprofessional Steven. Why should you have the title of supervisor if you aren't contributing to the work load? Went to this Home Depot to purchase paint for my front door. When I get home, which isn't too far from store I find that the gallon of red paint in my trunk is empty. The lid was not put on by the guy who mixed my paint. The paint had dumped in the trunk all behind the backseat, covering all underneath the backseat and onto the back floor. I returned to the store right away after calling the manager to tell him what had happened, we all took pictures and he filed a claim with their insurance company and he told me that they would reach out to me in a few days and if not to call them. After a week of no word, I call their insurance company with no luck, the phone rang and rang and you couldn't leave a message. About a week later I get a letter that I have been assigned an agent to handle my claim. I have her number and extension, I call and call again with no luck and all it says when I call is that her voice mail is full so you cant even leave a message. I call Home Depot back and tell them that there is no way to contact the insurance company and they say .. well .... it's not in our hands anymore and refused to help me in any way and would not give me a corporate number when I asked. Finally after no luck from no one and totally unable to drive my car because the back seat was ruined and I have kids, I call my insurance company to help me and they did at the cost of my deductible and I just got the news that my car is totaled. When we walked in we were greeted by a woman wearing an orange apron who was talking on her cell phone. She wasn't talking an employee. In fact, she was talking into her phone while it was on speaker. My husband and I walked throughout the store for 10 minutes. Coming back to the front we see this woman still talking on her phone...on the job. As we passed by the registers and front endcaps of the aisles I counted 1 person on her phone, 1 man leaning on a display, and 7 people at empty registers who were obviously waiting for customers to check out but were engaged in conversations. Not one employee asked if they could help us or even acknowledged our presence. This is exactly why I prefer to shop at the competitor's store. read more

"Curbside"" pickup that requires you to go in the store, wait 15 minutes while talking to 4 different employees, then walk back with one and actually load the refrigerator up yourself. I got my Home DooDoo credit card and went to the Fredericksburg, VA store to break it in. I was excited to be making my very first purchase. Got up early. Drove an hour.. And walked in and began shopping.. That was the end of the positive aspect of this particular story.. At checkout, I asked about getting the Veterans discount that they advertise and showed my military ID card.. I was told I first had to sign up for an "account" online.. Again, I showed her my credit card and said, you already have all of my info - that's how I got the credit card.. further, I explained that when I applied for the card, I chatted with the rep online and asked about the veterans discount.. (wish I had grabbed a screenshot) the rep replied, "oh don't worry about that.. just show them your military ID in the store.. they will need to see it in order to verify that you are a military veteran." I said, okay that makes sense.. Well, I didn't get a discount. I essentially just got called a liar. I got confronted by some fat slob trying to sneak up on me.. My military veteran brothers and sisters take note.. Home Depot advertises that they offer a military discount but when it came time to issue said discount, all this Disabled Vet got was a whole lot of run-around.. There are details I can't really cover here but ultimately, I cannot.. I absolutely cannot recommend Home DooDoo for anything. bought a bathroom fan from this Home Depot store last week, then hired the contractor from Pro referral by the Home Depot. When the contractor came to work on this project, he removed the old bathroom fan out, then opened the box of new bathroom fan that I bought from this store. he discovered that the new fan inside the box didn't look like the picture from outside of the box, also there was missing parts. I was completely shocked when I saw it. I went back to this store to return it while the contractor was waiting for me to get the new one. It took me about an hour and half to go to store and back to my house. This contractor charged me $133 for the time he waited for the new fan to come back, and also the amount of money that he installed the fan. I talked to Home depot customer services, and they told me that they had no responsibility for the product that I bought or the contractor that they recommend to me. read more

Home Depot has taken such a hit lately, thought I'd give them a rave.... This concerns a project undertaken with their vinyl privacy lattices + corner and linking accessories. I used the lattices unconventionally -- cut diagonally their full length (to fit the lay of the land), and used them for skirting beneath the lower veranda of our lodge. I first trenched a 3" deept slot for the full length and sides of the veranda, settled in the lattices, and attached them along the top rails with around 100 stainless steel screws. Beauty is, since they're heavy vinyl, they never will rot (as does the wood product). The trenching gives them excellent lateral support. read more

Well, this Home Depot is a roll of the dice. I've ordered appliances here and it was a nightmare (serious nightmare). Today, I returned crown molding and needed to buy different molding. I needed help since at 70 yrs old, it's hard to manage a 16 ft piece. So I walked to the back of the store. But, no one was available to help. I walked to the front of the store and the lady called someone and told me to go to the back of the store and wait. So I waited and waited. I looked at my watch and from that point 10 minutes more. In frustration, I walked back to the front and told the lady to tell her manager I waited 10 minutes but no one came. I'm going to another store to buy. She said "well, he came here". We are very unhappy with this store ,delivery and installation method, you need to be aware that when they call you before getting to your home if you don't pick up the phone ,they cancel the installation, even if you call them back with 5 minutes, they won't pick it that phone. They let us without a dishwashers a day before Thanksgiving. I will said to you go to another store who have better contractors and honor military discount since Home Depot won't, we just got inform that the contractors are not allow to awnser calls coming in. If you must go to Home Depot, I would not recommend this one, in Fredericksburg on Gateway Blvd. The Harrison Road location in Spotsylvania is much better. Different stores within a chain are only as good as the people employed there, especially management. Our issue with the Fredericksburg store was simply poor customer service, misinformation, failure to honor price adjustment policy, and failure to honor veterans discount. I needed very specific items and Burt walked me through the special order process. He was ultra knowledgeable and professional. They also don't seem to give a military discount on most of the items I would purchase. The customer service desk here often has an attitude and I can never seem to find help at this store. BUYER BEWARE! Never have I ever been more appalled by a retailer. We have spent tens of thousands of dollars remodeling our home from this Home Depot. We are at the end of our remodel and are very strict with our budget now. I went in with an exact amount of money to spend on spending cash card, and budgeted it down to the dollar, so I knew exactly how much this trip would cost. When I went to check out, only the self check out was open. Since I had some building material that needed to be measured they had to check me out themselves to enter the heights. The cashier rang me up for $73 before tax using the handheld scanner and when I went to pay, the register spit cash out below. The cashier took the cash and put it behind the desk, called another cashier on the phone and advised me that that had never happened before, and that he needed to void the entire transaction. We waited a few minutes for the "head cashier" to arrive. When she came, she rang me up again, and the total was $104. I knew that was not right because I had budgeted for under $80. She told me that the previous cashier probably didn't ring me up right, or the scanner didn't pick everything up. I advised her that that couldn't be correct and she must have something rang something up twice, she voided everything out again and ring me up again. This time it came to $94 before. I advised her that that was not correct, and she stated that was probably the full amount before tax the first time. There is no way that it was $73 before tax and $94 after tax. So she avoided everything out yet again, and I physically handed her each item and watched it come up on the computer and put it far away from the rest of my items. This time it came to $77 before tax. By this time I had been at the register for 20 minutes and I wasn't going to stress over a few dollars. I put my card in again, and it was declined. I knew exactly how much cash I had on this card, because it is only used for our remodel and I was coming close to the end of our budget. I pulled up the app I use on the cash card and there was only a couple dollars left in the account. I asked to see the cash that was spit out of the register the first time and it was the exact amount that I was missing out of my account. I told the cashiers that that was my cash out of my account, and after some investigation they realized that originally he had hit cash back. Had I not been super diligent on exactly how much I had to spend and sticking to my budget, not only would I be missing cash out of my account, but if I had trusted the cashier's ring up the second time, I would have been overcharged over $30. It is completely unacceptable and appalling that a cashier would ring somebody up four times, and it come to four different amounts, and that I had cash taken from my account and potentially not given back to me. God only knows how many times I have been overcharged, this is the only time I have been this diligent with knowing how much I had to spend and what was being rang up. I feel now that I have potentially been overcharged many times, as I usually go to this self check out because it's the only thing open early in the morning. I will never, ever trust Home Depot again. read more

If I could give -0 I would. Ordered and paid over 5K for a bay window in the May. They came out 3x and measured. Set times and not once were they on time- not even close. They then set an installation date in Mid June. I took a day off work and they confirmed 3x. I moved furniture and prepared. 40 min after the scheduled time they were to arrive they called and cancelled- stating they do not install on stone homes. Yet they measured 3x and did not notice I had a stone home. They came to my home and sold me the window. But also did not notice. They set yet another date and confirmed 3 more times, again a day before they canceled stating they did not know was a stone facade. It is now August and they have another date, they come and measure again, they bring the window ( with scrapped paint and YES the wrong size.). Now they have to reorder and set another date. Now the end of Sept. They set a date and confirm 2x, it is now Friday and they are to install Monday and they called and cancelled.They promised to pay for my day missed at work- yet they have not- they promised to make this right but they have not. They refuse to return our calls and just push us to yet another customer service rep that reluctantly may or may not apologize. They have no customer service number on site for complaints. In the meantime I had special ordered 2 doors and a window from Lowes in Central Park and they have delivered the correct product every time and BEFORE the 3 week promised dates. I go to this Home Depot only for the convenience of it being close to my home. I waited about 20 mins until someone was able to assist me after asking for help. The gentlemen that works in the blinds department is the most rudest employee that I've encountered with by far. He must have been having a bad day or hate his job because he made me feel like I was an inconvenience to him when I asked him to cut my blinds for me to the sizes that I needed to fit my windows. Bought $999 Riding lawn mower from this Home Depot. Battery dead after taking it home. Had to drive back get a new battery and it starts. Then try to use the mower and smoke starts coming out of mower deck and it stops working. I had to make another trip to the store and arrange it to be swapped out with a different more expensive model. Then bought a patio set and tried to put it together and got the entire set together but one chair. The threading for the screws was messed up so had to make another trip to the store. The customer service and lack of anyone knowing what to do was extremely poor especially coming from one of the management team (Vicki). They could care less if they sell you defective products and the amount of time you have to spend/trips to the store to correct it. read more
