Abridged copy of email sent to the Freeport Home Depot: Let me start by telling you who I am. I am a recent cancer survivor. I have spent 2017 and 2018 going through chemotherapy. While I am now in remission I still suffering from the side effects of my treatment. I haven't had feeling in my feet in over a year. And the rest of my legs and hands have experienced nerve damage that may not ever fade. For this reason I decided to employ Home Depot to design and install my kitchen. I would have physical difficulty running this project so my thought was I could let Home Depot run the show and sit back and enjoy the results. Now, the most frustrating, and the most expensive problems are my new kitchen install. There have been communication issues, design flaws and an overall lack of sense of urgency to address these issues and a lack of remorse for any of these problems that were absolutely no fault of my own but had fallen to me to fix. The sub contractor for the install was NHINY. They do not communicate or return phone calls. They delayed the process by weeks by,often taking ten days to complete a task that they said would take one. Napoli was the countertop and backsplash people. They had no idea they were contracted to install a backsplash and then blamed me when they didn't properly explain the process. The Home Depot kitchen designer made a mistake on almost every cabinet associated with an appliance. And we sat the the designer and purchased the appliances at the same time so they knew all sizes. Most importantly Home Depot does not take responsibility for their mistakes or the mistakes of their contractors and that my "time" lost was not something worth compensating. This kitchen process and my recent dealings with Home Depot and their contractors have been incredibly disappointing. Thousands and thousands of dollars have been spent and have caused an exceeding amount of stress for myself and my family. We are now waiting for homedepot to show some sign of remorse and responsibility for this situation. And we are waiting for how homedepot plans to compensate us for all of these problems so we can put it behind us and move on with our lives. read more

Usually good and helpful staff here, excellent selection, and with a large parking lot and generally fast check-out. I've had some comedic moments trying to do in-store pickup of items ordered online, where it's very obvious that one group doesn't know what the other is doing or expecting of them, but that service is fairly new to Home Depot, so I shan't hold it against them too much. You'll always get a straight answer, a fair price, and all of it contained in a clean, organized, and well-lit store. read more

WORST RETAIL STORE IN THE PLANET I bought a defective fridge and reported it immediately. Home Depot brushed me off stating "we have a no return policy for Appliances". And told me I am sol. I went online and found their policy for appliances stating if the defect is reported within 48 hours I could return the item. I fought with them tooth and nail for 3 weeks and had to end up talking to corporate because they just refused to take it back. Even though it met their own return policy. They scheduled a pick up date for last Friday. I took the day off because I just couldn't wait to get this fridge out of my dining room, I get no notice and no call and they never showed. It was rescheduled for today, I called last night to confirm ad they had NO IDEA what I was talking about. Meanwhile I am getting my credit card bill on a defective $1400 Fridge. Lynette was the store manager in charge of helping resolve my problem, she stopped returning my calls and emails. They don't care about their customers. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP AT HOME DEPOT. I am very disappointed of my recent visit to this establishment. I have been going here for years, along with my family. More recently, however, I went with my daughter and witnessed a rude, sexist, and disgusting conversation from employee to teens. These teen girls seemed to have been looking for painting supplies, and asked for help. While looking for paint myself, I overheard the conversation and heard the employee tell the teenager that her father should know the material needed. If it isn't bad enough to criticize someone's parent, she also made a snarky comment about "sending women to home depot." While being a woman working there herself, I was in utter shock. It was sexist and disgusting to hear from another woman, demeaning teenage girls for their lack of knowledge. This upset me since I was with my own daughter and I wouldn't want someone to speak to her that way. Most recently I signed up for a DIY class there and showed up at the scheduled time. No one knew where it was, who was doing it and no one could get a hold of the manager for any help. This has got to be the worst Home Depot Store ever! I gave them 1 star because Yelp forces you to give a star to give a review! This store gets ZERO stars! I went there today to look for an item that said 65 in stock. Couldn't find it anywhere on any shelf in the aisle... aisle 1 bay 2.... the lies! After 10 min of looking I asked someone to page help for me..... cause no one ever comes along and asks if you need assistance! After 10 more min no one shows up so I go outside to garden and asked the cashier who said...... online don't be right, ask customer service and I can't get anyone to help you because no one came to work today.... wth!!! So I go to customer service and the young man looks up the item and told me to follow him! We walk to the same aisle and he looks hard. I give him credit, he is the only person who tries to help. After several minutes he says Ms...... it's probably in the back I'm sorry. I did thank him and left pissed! I went straight to Levittown and found what I wanted and even have several offers of help from the entrance to the aisle! I went back to home depot yesterday looking for a fawcet. Not knowing much about plumbing I asked for help.Getting help at this home depot is as probable as winning the lotttery.Their uncaring staff does nothing to help waiting instead for the customers to get angry and leave. After about 20 minutes of waiting I went upfront to complain and get the manager.After that and another 10 minute wait a salesperson finally appeared. This morning I went to Home Depot to buy "Pole Light Bulb Changer Kit with Attachments." I only needed the small suction cup attachment in the kit to replace a halogen bulb in my range hood but I was willing to buy the kit. An associate helped me find the item and there were a few opened packages with parts missing. He spoke with his supervisor about my situation. He handed me the suction cup tool, walked me to the door, and told me that I could just have the suction cup as the package was not sellable since it was missing other parts. I was so surprised and thanked him! Unfortunately when I got home the suction cup tool did not help me to put in the halogen bulb back in my range hood but what a wonderful experience at Home Depot this morning! My 85 year old father-in-law ordered a floor from Home Depot. He paid the total amount and on the day of installation they told him he had to pay $500 more to have the existing floor torn up, although his paperwork said the price included tear out. We called the store and they said he had to come in. He went to the store three times and got the run around each time. He has called as well and still nothing. It was clearly their mistake and now has to fight it through his credit card company. Shame on you Home Depot. read more

The first sight to greet you entering from Merrick Road are hoards of unemployed locals waiting for jobs from contractors. Why the village of Freeport permits this is baffling as this is the only store to have this problem. A good quick stop shop if you know the store layout. Otherwise ask an associate and they will help you but not walk you to the aisle like in Florida home Depots. This is the dirtiest HD Ive ever been in catering heavily to contractors who are there all day and night loading their trucks. Most of the hardware items have been opened or stolen by shoplifters. Items are strew around shelves where customers toss rejects and no employees ever go through the shelves to organize or clean them up. If you want a prettier, pleasant store shop elsewhere or go to Lowes. read more

This particular HD is horrible. Workers don't know where anything is by sending you to the wrong isle when asking for an item that is when you can find someone to help you & when you do find someone you get an attitude like why you bothering me & making me do my job. There is also always something in a lot of the isles just in the way which just makes this store look messy & I shop there at different times of the week & it is always like this with all these problems. I am so done with HD & I am now going out of my way to shop their competitors like Lowe's ,ace hardware & true value. Store was clean but there were no big heavy duty carts available. I had to use a regular cart to haul wood out of the store and it barely made it under the weight. The cashier was friendly and offered to watch our stuff if we wanted to get our truck instead of walk the lot. read more

Today I had the best HD experience ever. My wife and I purchased some laminate flooring that was on the labor day sale. Maryann was the happiest and most helpful store rep that I have encountered. Renee in the paint department was very helpful, even though her counter had a line around the corner waiting on paint to be mixed. I have to commend her customer service as it was so hot and uncomfortable standing in line. It was a delight to at least see a smile on her face as she made small talk with everyone. I went to your store this evening looking for siding and needed some help, I saw two men who were coming my way and I asked them if I can get some help. One man said he will get someone (It turned out to be a boss) anyway he came back without anyone but the two men proceeded to help me. Both men took the time to explained to me (based on the information I gave them) what I needed . I normally do not write reviews but i was so impressed with one of the worker his name is Carl from the plumbing department that I had to write this. After I left I went to find a door and who did I see-- Carl again . He was on his way doing something else and again he took the time to help me. I thought I would make things easy and schedule an appointment for a carpet quote. When they sent me my confirmation email I realized the address was wrong. First I was sent to a general 1-800 Home Depot. Where they were not able to change or cancel my appointment. Then they transferred me to the Freeport location after waiting 20 mins on hold. A very unprofessional employee answered the phone I told her that I needed to cancel my appointment. She sounded confused. Without putting me on hold she just started asking people what she should do. Another employee said just hang up and that's exactly what she did. I tried to call back and waited 10 mins for flooring then tried to call back just for general questions and no answer on either call. At the least Home Depot train your employees to know how to answer a phone. After visiting this location previously I know that is asking a lot. Terribly disappointed!! read more

Debbie is amazing. My husband and I were on a hunt for an item for a home improvement project that we are working on and we were sent to this Home Depot based on the recommendation from the Green Acres Home Depot because they had a large amount of the item we needed in stock. Ok great they have the item we go to the department and nope they can't find the item. We are directed to this place and then that place and then eventually ended up with Debbie in customer service. We were given the sku number and were told we can either look for the item through out the store on our own or wait until she contacts the head of the department tomorrow. We hadn't reached our steps walked goal for the day so my husband and I took on the task of looking for the item through out the store. We miraculously found it shrink wrapped in the lighting department on a pallet way up on top of a shelf. Thank goodness my husband is tall. We walk back to Debbie let her know we found the item and let her know how much we needed. Great we are almost there and are about to pay and errr the price is higher then what was listed in GA Home Depot. Turns out not all Home Depots are the same. What's on sale/clearance in one Home Depot might not be priced the same in another. So Debbie calls GA HD and we wait as she manages to have them pull all of the items they have in stock on their end and get the rest at her store at the price they have listed. We had a long wait but her customer service was great and ended up getting what we needed. read more
