I must admit that I was delightfully surprised when I ran into two top notch sales' professionals, tonight, at the Home Depot, in Hackensack, NJ! They set me up with carpet and a measurement appointment in a snap! On top of the knowledgeable and speedy "service with a smile" they had given me, they hooked me up with a 25% discount for the aggravation and inconvenience that I had just gone through with another carpet company, Empire Today. Good enough if you know what you need, you can be in and out in no time. Shelves are stocked pretty well. Have never gone there and not found what I went in for. For that I would give it 4 stars. But God forbid you need help. Most, not all, of the employees are untrained, have no knowledge of their department, or just don't care. For that, I would give it 2 stars. My 1 star review is for the bird seed area. DISGUSTING! It's outside in the garden department, and a lot of the seed has been pecked open by birds, covered in bird feces, and I'm sure the rats visit at night. I understand that in other stores that have their seed indoors have issues too, with birds getting in, but it's no where as vile as the Hackensack store. It seriously has to be a health hazard. This store is well-stocked and has more hand sanitizer and hand soap available than any other store I have been to in months! And, the price is most affordable. Also, I purchased the brightest flashlight that I have ever owned, 1,300 Lumens, at this location. I keep it in the car, but it actually lit up an entire room in my home like a bright light bulb when I tested it! It will be great during a power outage. The employees are helpful, personable, knowledgeable, professional and efficient at this Home Depot. A number of employees assisted me. The ones I remember Azziyah and Jaidah. DO NOT PURCHASE APPLIANCES FROM HOME DEPOT!! Their delivery service is the most unreliable company you could ever be stuck with! After waiting 3 weeks, they not only missed the 11-3 delivery window but by 7 PM I still hadn't heard from them!! After calling Home Depot several times and having no option other than hearing a recording saying the truck is late but the delivery is still coming, I called and used the prompt as if I was placing an order, so I could get someone on the phone. I waited on hold 30 minutes and he was unable to get the delivery company to respond. I called back the next morning and it took one hour on hold for them to reach the delivery company to tell me they can reschedule me for 3 weeks from now!! 3 MORE WEEKS!! They said they would try to squeeze me in sooner! Squeeze me in after I waited all day and you missed the delivery!! Unbelievable never again. Lowe's uses the same company for delivery and installation. Do yourself a favor and avoid Home Depot at all costs!!! read more

Ok so I went to this location only because we needed to rent a snake for the day and the one in Lodi doesn't rent it. They were very friendly and helpful. We told them that there was a chance we may break the tip of the snake bc we had done so in trying to fix the same problem once before and they said was fine. So we used it and it was great. Unfortunetly the piece did break on the snake and they had no problems with that. They even gave our deposit back! Maybe that happens often? who knows but they were very helpful and nice to us.I would go back. PS they rent equipment out ! A lot of other home depots do not.. read more

This place is terrible. All of the employees are kids. They don't care to help, they're too busy making jokes with their fellow employees. Everyone's SO RUDE. I asked someone for help and her response to me was "Yeah?", didn't even turn around to acknowledge me. Eventually when she turned around she rolled her eyes as if I was annoying her! So rude, the assistant manager I spoke to was rude. I understand it was a busy weekend but your job is customer service, I don't care if you're tired. I went to this Home Depot and purchase a front and kitchen door. After waiting about 4 months the front door had some damage. when they picked it up front the manufacture, they noticed the damages but took the doors anyway to my house and installed them. After many conversations with mark and Claudius, Mark told me on January 14, 20222 that he was going to give me a discount of $200.00 and I had to fix the damage myself which I turned down and told him that it was an insult. After a few more discussion he went on the computer and printed out a paper that stated that I was getting a refund of $1,129.13 this refund made me happier and he walked with me to the customer service desk. He asked a young lady to do the transaction and asked me if I paid cash or with the car. Of course, I gave them my Home Depot card to return the money there and all they did was that they deducted $200.00, and they also gave me a machine receipt stating that they had given me $929.13 in cash which they did not give me any money at all on Friday, January 14, 2022. I did not notice this until I received my monthly bill and saw that it did not show the full refund of $1,129.13. This is some real FUCK UP SHIT they did to me. I called the store and spoke to a manager, and he said that they were going to check to see if they were over $929.13. If they don't find that $929.13 in their store as an overage amount that means that they have CROOKS working for them because I was not given any cash. read more

A friend told me that this is the big difference between the mom and pop shops and the big chain stores; the small shops actually care and are helpful. Other than the paint department, this particular store has bozos for employees. If you need help with something, you have to scour the store. When you finally do find someone, the person helping usually has an attitude or has that aura that they don't want to be bothered. It's usually young kids with no sort of work ethic, just trying to ride out the day without doing any work. It usually is like this at all home depots. Unacceptable. read more

All 5 stars on this rating are for the Customer Service desk. As this is the closest HD to our home, we have been here more times than I can count, but only because it is the closest store. Even for HD, it is almost impossible to find help in this particular store- regardless of whether you are looking for a specific item or need some guidance. I recently went to purchase an item that was on sale, and it was not in either of the 2 places employees had directed me to. The display in the middle of an aisle held the wrong items. 4 (yes, 4) floor staff were not able to assist in locating the item. Beyond frustrated, I went to Customer Service where 3 more people helped. Basically, inventory showed over 100 of these in stock, yet no one knew where they were. I wasn't in a rush, so I told them I would wait until they found them. It was a large item, and I couldn't imagine it would take long to locate over 100 of them. Long story short, after about 20 minutes or so, they found them. The customer service clerk was sincerely apologetic and gave me a credit on my purchase. This kind of customer service is almost unheard of these days!! I was very pleased and based on this experience, I will continue to shop at this store. read more

All's well in this store - and you will experience "Home Depot"! The only complaint is the dangerous, crowded, and disorganized parking lot (shared with other stores). Very large home improvement store as well as hardware store. If you can dream it they probably have it. They also have doors and kitchens for remodeling which is a plus. The staff are not always the friendliest group of people most of them don't really seem to want to help you or do much. On the other hand there is a good amount of staff who are super friendly and will go out of their way for you. It is kind of the flip of a coin on that. The parking lot is crowded and a mess there are people constantly coming and going so to park is a mess with people and cars everywhere. Be careful not to hit anyone or anything grab the items on your own and have an idea and you will have a good experience. read more

I have to concur somewhat with a previous poster... the customer service is lacking. This after a supposed recent revamp of their employee training program to address this issue. Customers of this Home Depot in Hackensack should know that there is now a Lowes store on Route 4, near the Bergenfield Mall. Very close. That being said, my experiences there have gotten better. There is a young woman in the electronics department (lighting, switches, outlets, conduit, etc.) who knows the area very well and was polite and attentive. A gentleman in the gardening tools area helped me find the right deck sealer for my needs and took his time explaining the differences. The main problem is that it seems as if each employee has their section, and that's it.. So rather than spending paid training time on teaching them the entire store, management cuts corners and only instructs workers on their "store within a store". The result is that customers frequently ask someone for help, and get the customary "not my department." Once in a while a floor worker will actually go find you the right person to answer the question, which is nice but not as helpful as every employee knowing the location of any particular item for sale. Another big difference between Home Depot and a place like Lowes is this - eye contact. The average Home Depot employee walks around on a mission to move something, categorize something, price something, etc. They are not there to assist customers as a first priority, and they often avoid looking you in the eye as they march quickly by. The Lowes customer service reps are the the ones who utter the magic words, "Can I help you find something?" read more

WORST DECISION EVER to purchase a fridge, washer and dryer machines. I recently bought a new house so I went to this store to buy a fridge, along with a washer and dryer. First, I asked them to deliver the products on a specific Saturday. The associate at the store ended up entering a Saturday which was 2 weeks after the date that I specified (which I didn't find out until later since I had not received a call from the delivery company specifying a 4 hour window time when my products would be delivered). That was one Saturday of work I missed (not getting paid) due to careless error of the associate working at that department. I waited 2 weeks for the delivery to come (the Saturday the associate orginally entered). They called me the day before and told me the 4 hour window time would be from 12-4PM. That Saturday came and it was 3:30 PM when they called and told me their truck broke down and they couldn't deliver my products. I was furious! Not only did I have to wait three weeks to hear this nonsense, this was my second day I had to take off work and not get paid. I was without a fridge for 3 weeks at this time and had to store all my food/drinks in a cooler. I called the manager of the home depot store and they refused to give me more than 10% off my $3500.00 order! Nonetheless, I ended up re-scheduling the delivery since I had no time to go to another company to order these products. I ended up re-scheduling the delivery for a Saturday which I was able to take off (now 3rd time in a row). Unfortunately, had to wait anther two weeks for this Saturday to come because that was the only day I was able to take off. The Friday came (day before scheduled delivery) and I was advised of a 4 hour window time for the delivery to take place from 1-5PM. As expected, they called me around the 5PM mark and said they would be at my location in 30 mins. Already after the 5PM deadline, they took the fridge out of the truck, only to find out the fridge was broken! That was my breaking point. I called management of the Home Depot in Hackensack NJ (by the Bergen Mall) and told them the story. The only way I would accept the products was if they gave me a huge discount to cover the amount of money that I gave up from not working on all the Saturdays I missed. I ended up telling my story more than 5 times to 5 different people! The fourth person told me I'd hear back from someone the next day. That person never called and I had to take initiative to call them back. Finally, I was told from the manager that he would not be able to give me more than 10% off my order. This was OUTRAGEOUS! I ordered everything at this store more than a month ago and still didn't receive products of quality. My order was over $3500.00 and they couldn't even refund me more than 300 lousy bucks. I had been a customer of Home Depot for over 15 years and they didn't do anything within their power to keep my business even after providing the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE in history of all department stores. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER SHOP AT THIS HOME DEPOT, OR ANY HOME DEPOT FOR THAT MATTER. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I worked at this depot for about 5 months as a cashier. The training consisted of computer tutorials for about a month or so. #1 During the interview they ask if you would like day or night hours. After you are hired they give you what hours they feel like it. #2 This place is a goldmine (one customer after another) especially on weekends. They only pay the cashiers who are busting their hump $9.50hr. I personally think that this has to be one of the worst places to work for. They are another Walmart. They exploit their employees to the max and pay dirt cheap. My advice to anyone considering a job with Home Depot, is to look elsewhere for a job. I was in here last week trying to find the right wooden floor tile shade that matched the logo on the box I had a picture of on my phone. I asked one of the employees (a short bald guy) for help. He had to ask me what isle I was looking in and I had to walk him over to where the ones I needed were. And while we were looking at the tiles, some obnoxious middle aged woman comes over to ask him something and then he turns his back on me and proceeds to help her for like 10 minutes instead. I just walked away to get the sample tile from my car and try to match it to the one I needed myself. Absolutely useless and disrespectful employees. read more

As far as Appliance sales go, shady busy practices all the way. I went in and chose a Washer/Dryer, Refrigerator and Stove, i received my price quotes with their "plateau" discounting method, I go in the VERY NEXT DAY to open an HD credit card to pay for items because I was told the day before that it was too late in the evening to start the credit card process. Now while moving forward to pay for the items, the sale prices that were originally quoted when choosing the items the day before were no longer magically applied to my total, ....in matter of a day I was told that the sales were "no longer applicable". I spoke with the "Manager, Will, with hopes to have the prices honored from the day before, stating that I did not pay for the items because I was told there was not enough time to open an account with HD, however, Will had no idea what he was doing, useless and simple, Will had to refer to a floor salesman for assistance on the matter. And you're a Manager how, Will? Getting no where fast I spoke with the stores GM and there was little resolve there as well. So, in short, no honor system here. Between Lowes, Best Buy and Sears, I know have my desired items at my desired price range. Home Depot, poor customer services practices and lack of working with the people who come in to make deals with you just lost you over 5k worth of business. Not a big deal? All of my face to face encounters at this location have been fine. Pro- Desk, Customer Service, and cashiers all expectations are met. I recently had some material delivered and that is where the wheels come off. First, 14 hr delivery window (really!?!!) is ridiculous. Then after calling the store to try and get an updated delivery time you have to encounter a surly representative that informs you that her manager wants you to know that they are sending a driver with a "bad back", so either have people to off load material or reschedule. I do not need to share in Home Depot's Workmens Compensation case and why are they disclosing someones medical conditions (HIPA violation?)? Decide to go forward with delivery a driver informs us he is unfamiliar with vehicle and he can't back it into driveway. So he parks across the street. At least the delivery is here,....but every item delivered is wrong. Go to store, speak with assistant manager guarantees to get back to me by 3 PM that afternoon, it is 50+ hours past that time. Call customer service at this location to inquire about some special order windows that the website reports are delivered to store. Customer service representative tells me they are in the truck with absolutely zero information from me but, they will be ready for pick up tomorrow. I need one of those crystal balls! Do yourself a favor utilize another location or maybe like me go to Lowes in the future. read more

We made rare trip to Home Depot and since I am not a carpenter nor an electrician I was prepared for the worst but not quite! We went to see what they had in patio bistro sets and they had one for over $400 set up which wobbled the other one was on a shelf set up but they would not bring it down so that was that and if you are lucky enough to not get hit by people with giant pieces of wood you may get hit by a car in the crazy lot. We went to Bed Bath and Beyond found just what we wanted, great customer service and accepted our 20% off coupons! read more
