My daughter and I went to Home Depot tonight around 8pm for wall repair items and paint. Tony (older man) assisted us with knowledge and attended to our questions professionally and a friendly demeanor. He was actually shocked at the knowledge my 10yo my daughter have of DIY and repair when we were asking for spackle etc. Told him I've been teaching her early lol. Overall, wanted to give recognition to Tony's attentiveness and knowledge. Good Job Home Depot on hiring this employee! read more

My fiancée paid for a storm door to be installed at her home in full this past Monday, the 23rd. She called the store Monday, they promised that someone would call her that same day to make an appointment for installation-no call. Her father is dying in the hospital, she's a single mother working full time as a teacher, so she couldn't call back until Wednesday. The store told her that the computers were down, so they couldn't make an appointment. WHY DID THEY NOT CALL HER? She called Thursday-no call back. She called Friday morning at nine am. The manager promised they would call back before five pm. It is now 6:00 pm-Saturday, and no one has called her. She made the first step to have this done on October 6th! Three weeks!!! Don't assume you will receive it.... I recently ordered a frameless show door from Home Depot. This review is not for the shower door, but rather a review of the poor handling of my order by Home Depot. I ordered this door at the end of April. The order listed it as shipped with delivery mid May. June 1st arrived and still no delivery. I finally called to find out what the holdup was. I was told that the order was not in stock and that they would be cancelling my order. I was just looking around the appliances section at the Home Depot in Hazlet when I was approached by one of their Appliance Specialist offering his help. I told him what I was looking for and he immediately went into his computer and gave me a print out of the appliance that I was hoping to purchase at a later time that was not on displayed on the floor. This good experience never happened to me at The Home Depot, On the contrary l. The Employees were rude, unprofessional and just walked away and completely ignored you. WHAT A GREAT IMPROVEMENT. Kudos to Louie and Jose at the Home Depot rental shop. I brought my old and unused (for 10 years) lawn edger for a tune up, it wasn't starting. Louie and Jose rent tools, they don't repair them. However they worked on the edger and didn't stop until they found the problem. They represent the best of workers that take pride in their work and are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Rude lazy workers!!! I come here for a pick up and the lady was rude as F* when I asked for the order some worker came to say to her and she put her finger in my face while I was already talking. I've been on a fix myself mode repairing things in my house that would cost so much more if I called a handyman. I am always able to find someone to help me answer questions and guide me on the right path. I do my homework and you tube before arriving so I don't look like a total idiot. I find everyone helpful and 95 percent of the time they have what I need. read more

Awesome service! I was in to pick up some paving stones but couldn't find them. I use an old trick from when I was a contractor and dealing with Home Depot employees who may or may not be honest and order online. Now, if you order online bare in mind you may have to wait 2 hours. I walked up to customer service, played dumb, and asked if my order was ready. Steve called me up and he checked on the order. He said it wasn't ready and another employee chimed in, "You might have to wait until affer 6:15 (2 hours later). Steve said, "Let me check with the online order guys. It is only 14 paving stones." Steve calls twice and no answer another guy Michael says "Why don't you go and we'll get someone to cover your station." Steve takes my cart to the garden center and Boom! Two young kids (I'm 40), the online order's crew were already there putting it together! I didn't get their names and should have but it is pretty crazy to get that kind of service. I have given up my attempt to have replacement doors installed. It took almost two months to get someone to do the required measurements. The store never contacted me to pick out my doors once the measurements were taken. And my attempts to reach the store by phone and internet were unsuccessful. If it's this hard to give them my money, how much harder will the rest of the process be? read more

I'm at your store weekly. Everything generally works out the way it's supposed to. I never complain and I'm very easy going. Something needs to be really out of order for me to write a bad review. Here you go - Feedback for the store manager from a loyal customer: 1. Buying a wheel barrel shouldn't be so difficult, get a better process. The display had them locked up outside and I had to talk to 3 people before finding someone who had "the key" and knew the process to purchase. 2. Look your customer in the eye when talking to them, it will set a good example for the rest of your team. I wasn't happy having to jump through hoops for what should be a simple purchase, and you, the store manager making me feel like I was a nuisance made me rethink my decision to come to this store. 3. Don't show your obvious distaste for something your team didn't handle correctly, you are after all the one accountable for their training- a good leader doesn't assess blame, they fix they process. Perhaps avoid this HD on Sunday mornings. Cranky management and staff who are obviously still learning the ropes. read more

For as long as I can remember, I've always hated Home Depot. There is nothing wrong with the store per se, but when I couldn't find what I was looking for, I had to find help. The "help" was always the problem, not the store. It seems almost universal that HD is chronically understaffed or when it is staffed, it's staffed by lazy, shuffling, eye-rolling, mumbling morons that almost seem to go out of their way to be rude and unhelpful. I once had such a terrible experience at a Home Depot in Jersey City that I swore off Home Depot for years and went to Lowe's instead. When I moved to this area, I grudgingly gave my local Home Depot a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. I give 5 stars to the Home Depot in Hazlet. It is the ONLY ONE I will go to. The employees are consistently helpful and cheerful. They don't make me feel like I'm bothering them when I ask questions. When I describe what I need (without always knowing the proper terminology) the employees usually know what I'm talking about. If they don't, they find someone with the answers. Twenty minutes to check out because management allowed 3 out of 4 self-serve kiosks to break at the same time and management only scheduled ONE register to be open. At this rate Amazon same day delivery is faster. Another chain that Amazon will put out of business by the end of the decade. And management is just letting it happen. I had a special order items that weren't in stock as stated in their computer. i received only 1 item delivered to my home. Called to find out what happened, was told store where order was placed only found one in stock. Again computer was wrong. Told the item would be delivered next day. No show the next day. I called and was told driver didn't show up for work. I instructed that I will pick item the next morning. I arrived at the store at 7:30am only to find out item was out for delivery. There isn't any concern or care from store employees. No contact unless I called to get info. Wasted 3 days and the store offered NO compensation for their problem. I like this Home Depot set up. I was here a few times while I was in the area and it is your typical Home Depot. This store is bigger than the ones in NY, where I usually frequent. So it might be normal size for NJ but this store is big. They had someone welcoming you with flyers and ready to answer questions on where to find something which was nice. The tool and rental equipment area has it's own entrance and exit which is cool. Plenty of Parking. There is a Sports Authority in the next parking lot. read more

If I could give less stars i would. About two weeks ago i purchase 5 large items costing roughly 1,200 dollars. I purchased two vanities, two vanity tops, one kitchen cabinet. Well fast forward to present day. I call up the store to see where my items are and they said... word for word "there was a glitch" your order "failed" . Now I am at a loss for words because what the heck does that mean and why hasn't anyone called me. My house has bathroom supplies thrown around, items piled up in boxes, the kitchen is upside down do to it being prepped to replace a cabinet. I said can we fix this? The first person had no idea and transferred me to home depot credit. The credit card company said they couldn't do anything so sent me back to the store. The store in hazlet, nj finally said they messed up and re-ordered the order. Once it was all listed they asked for my cc#. But since i didn't even get the card yet in the mail i don't have one so i had to call the credit company again digitally sign all of these crazy documents just to get my number. Then I had to call Home Depot back to give the new card number to them. BUT.. Now the order hit and the sale items are now regular price. The credit card offer where i would save $100 on a 1k spent was non existent. So I call back to discuss this and then I get another email that the whole order was cancelled. Now they have no idea why it is cancelled and they mentioned that the card wasn't activated. Well i still have yet to receive the card and this order was supposed to be part of the new credit card offer. Needless to say i am over two weeks from when I ordered these needed items and I am left with nothing. Just a hurt credit score and zero home depot items. I cant do this any longer this took way too long (3hrs on the phone just today) and now they are costing me and my family way too much money. This was a major fail. I am willing to give you over 1k to just start my home remodeling and you cant fulfill what you promised. Nice FAIL home depot. Okay, normally I don't review big box stores, but we had a better than normal experience today at the big orange monster. We needed a grill, and to check out patio furniture. Their selection of furniture is large, and you can sit on a lot of it and try it out. They also have a ton of mix and match sets to accommodate your price range and taste as well as space constraints. When we came to the grills, bill was super helpful. He got someone to help us with the grill retrieval and gave us pointers and advice in terms of our choice. We waited for about 15 minutes for them to bring a forklift and get the grill, so I ran to the bathroom. It's SUPER clean and smells like citrus. I'm assuming because they sell tile they used a nice look for the bathroom but it was genuinely the nicest store bathroom I've ever used. So then we decided to get the no interest finance offer. Daniella at customer service was so helpful and pleasant to deal with. Anyone we asked for help knew exactly where in every aisle everything was. Two thumbs up. I only go to Lowes or Home Depot when I absolutely need to. I would rather go to a neighborhood hardware store but I am no longer sure where one is located. Do not use them for installs! We had a garage door opener installed about two years ago. Turns out the company they used did not install it correctly and our door is broken in half at the top. The people at the store gave me a few numbers to call and told me to call around and see who did the install and figure it out on my own. Have not had any luck doing so and Home Depot is not helping at all. What a disaster. Avoid using them at all costs! read more

If it was possible to not rate this store, it would have ZERO stars. Customer service in this store is horrendous. How does a "customer service" representative not say one word when you return a item that Home Depot pulled wrong. Instead, when i walked in, he pointed to the correct item that was waiting for me after I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the same guy who told me "I can't take your order" after explaining to him multiple times I was not placing a order. No, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" or "let me assist you in getting that in your car". Nothing! Just him conversing with his co-worker about me. (Unfortunately for him, he didn't realize the woman that walked in after me, was in fact WITH me). If cooperate cares or reads the reviews on their store they would step in and fix the customer service issue. I had stopped shopping in this store for almost 3 years when my son was purchasing a grill and was told they only accept military ID on Veterans Day, Fourth of July and Memorial Day. Shelves are always well stocked and aisles are typically clear. Store attendants at self checkout area is always helpful especially when they help you scan the heavier items. I would have given five stars if it wasn't a challenge at times to help find employees during busier times. read more

I went to the Home Depot in Hazlet, NJ to order a shed. I wasn't able to order it online because they wouldn't honor my military discount. When I arrived at the store, the customer service desk was also doing returns and was extremely busy. When it was my turn, I was assisted by Daniela. She was excellent. She went out of her way to order online but it didn't work. She then contacted them on the phone and was not only able to get me my military discount but also free shipping. Do not use their home delivery/Installation services. Their service contracts are not worth the paper they are written on. I contracted with HD to have a new storm door installed on my house. I was told that the installtion would be complete, 'soup to nuts' ion their words. They did not do a complete installation (they did not put a chain on the door). I called John Barry (the guy in charge of installatios) three times and left a voice mail. He never replied. Over the years I have dealt with many home repair contractors. I have found that they fall into two categories: Guys who want to do a good job and care more about their name than the quick buck, and guys who only care about getting paid today. Been here 3 different times trying to get a screen door and install. What a waste of time. 1st was told to come back with measurements. 2nd time came back with measurements and was told I didn't need the and they would schedule me a phone consultation. Asked to complete everything that day but they said someone will call to arrange everything and provide quote. I did get call however it was from their outsource company which doesn't do installs and only screen replacement. 3rd time back to try again...was told the guy that runs that area just went on lunch and to come back in an hour or so. At this point I tried to call to get everything handled and was advised I would have to come in...ummm nope not going down that route again.. done with trying. read more

I've liked Home Depot before when I lived in NYC but this one is really horrible. Every single employee I asked for help, whether it's the paint dept, kitchen counter top dept or even Customer Service dept, act like I'm being a nuisance for asking Qs. I get the feeling that if you're not a contractor, they'll act superior and will talk down to you know. It's subtle, by saying things like, "I don't know what you're talking about" or "I don't think we're talking the language" even though what you're asking is quite simple, like "can you tell me what the different types of counter top stone are?" They're clearly unhappy, impatient, and just miserable people. When I complained to 2 different managers, they apologized but weren't all that interested in hearing about what their employees did. In my opinion, they need to fire most of the employees and re-train them on customer service. This is my 3rd bad experience and I'm done coming here. I'm pretty sure sales from regular consumers made up a hefty chunk of their overall sale. If I need to, I'll go to Lowes. This store needs to change and treat people better before I come back here. First, I personally have nothing against Home Depot. I have shopped at their stores in many different areas and have never had a problem. However, THIS store (Hazlet) is something of a joke and insult to the consumer. To begin, I've gone into this store on a few occasions to return an item and have listened to employees standing there talking to each other and bashing other employees in front of customers. If that's not pathetic enough, I've stood in the line and listened to employees bashing customers after they walk away from the counter from returning something. WOW!! TRULY, just dumbfounding !! Furthermore, the vast majority of the employees look at you and act like you're a burden and a complete inconvenience to them when you ask them for assistance. (I could name a few of these employees by name and the departments they work in, here, but I'll refrain for now). Additionally, the majority of the employees walk around with a 'pissy' look on their face and act completely unapproachable for assistance. This is unacceptable and completely unsatisfactory in the customer service industry. THIS IS TRULY AN OVERALL LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT FAILURE IN THIS STORE WHEN THIS IS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN AND MANAGEMENT IS NOT AWARE OF IT, OR IS AWARE AND DOES NOTHING!!! If you shop here, proceed with caution when returning an item or asking for assistance, and correct accordingly any distasteful behaviour from the employees as management CLEARLY IS INCAPABLE !! read more
