Rheem gas water heater keeps shutting its power vent off, no idea why. If it works I'll change my review but spent all day trying to make this thing work. Edit: we figured it out after we had tried troubleshooting the Rheem water heater most of the afternoon. I have to apologize to the Home Depot, it's more of the water heater itself and not that particular store, the older gentleman who helped us pick the 50 gallon water heater was very helpful and polite, and answered a lot of my questions. The problem was that the Power Vent on top was not PERFECTLY sealed. If you do not drill that thing in the right spot, it won't make a good seal and it will keep turning on and off, over and over again, which will cause the machine to error out and give you a weird code that doesn't make sense. So far the Rheem water heater 50 gallon with a power vent has been working well after several weeks of waiting to see if I would have any problems. It is a lot quieter than the Richmond brand 40 gallon water heater that I had which was manufactured I think back in 2008, (that is Menards brand iirc), and so far I am liking the Rheem. Its stickers are kind of all over the place, crooked and not out on as professional looking as Richmond's, but the parts are metal and seem a little higher quality. But yeah, if you get this power vent water heater, make sure every corner and seal is drilled on perfectly, or you'll spend most of the day trying to figure out why it won't turn on and stay on. So far, so good though. Have had hot water and didn't need to return the thing (which would've been a nightmare since getting it down the stairs empty was a real pain, the thing has nowhere good to grab onto it so if you need to haul this through a house, rent a Dolly, Linus tech tip there). I appreciate the management reaching out and trying to help us out with the web form. I was in a very frustrated state of mind considering we had been out of hot water for several days trying to get a new water heater, and then to have the Rheem not work after we spent half of the day buying and setting it up. I was ready to pull my hair out because all I wanted was a hot shower. And the last thing I wanted to do was have to fill out a web form and disconnect all the copper tubes and PVC pipes and hoses to send the thing back and get another. Luckily, it was just user error, and a bit of weird design, but it's been working great so far after several weeks of testing. I actually hang out in the storage area near the water heater (where my computer desk is), and it's substantially quieter than the Richmond's start up sound and power vent operation. Home Depot has the worst web site anywhere I always end up at Menards because it is impossible to navigate there site.

The phone issue with customer service is a universal irritation. Everyone acknowledges this as a given. The problem is compounded in instances where after navigating the machine voice and receiving the message the item you are searching for is in stock and the qty is said to also be sufficient. So the drive to that location is performed and the reality is that you were misinformed. That occurred at Madison Wisconsin West store. That is my usual store. I'm there daily. Last night I made the trip. To discover the products were not the correct quantity. But the CSR at the customer service desk was helpful, he checked the Madison East store. 2 boxes of the correct lighting devises were in stock. Perfect. I only required one box of 4 units. So I drive 25 minutes in surprisingly dense traffic for 7pm. What I learn when I arrive is that again I'm misinformed. They MIGHT be in the store, but they aren't available on the shelves. They are somewhere in the highest shelves yet to be released for sale. So this is where the Janesville location comes in. I have the CSR guy check and YES 5 boxes are in inventory. Having been twice misinformed by the lying computer voice I ask the maze voice for a manager on duty. 15 minutes of ringing. No one can be bothered to answer the phone. No way I am willing to make the drive this late. So this afternoon I make the call again and eventually get a living being on the phone who informs me, because I politely asked, and provided the SKU number, he (name is omitted, but he's the electrical dept guy) he kindly informs me 5-6 are in stock. Asking additionally that he please go put eyes on them, and additionally, be kind and give me a call to let me know he saw them and knows absolutely that they are available. He assures me he will call. I start the drive (45miles door to door) and anticipate his call. Hoping it arrives sooner than not. It never arrives during my 40 min travel time. But it never arrives. That's the irritation. I'm looking to spend (all in, $1200 for 32 LED lighting devises, 200' romex, dimmers, etc. enough for lighting several rooms.) a lot of money at this business. I routinely do purchase a couple thousand dollars most weeks, year in year out. Of the boxes, HD is far better than Lowes or Menards, no question. But the customer service isn't very consistent both in store or especially on the phone when it's supposedly their advertised promise. read more

So in August 2024, I made the decision to do some upgrades to our kitchen. we went to Home Depot and purchased countertops, we bought a new kitchen sink and faucet. We bought a hood for venting the kitchen. We bought a new range. We bought a microwave and we picked out the Backsplash to be installed. Everything went very well with the installation of the countertops, the plumber coming out and disconnecting and reconnecting the plumbing and the delivery of the stove. It wasn't until they came out for the Backsplash that we ran into problems. We were charged an additional $1002.28 for additional materials for the backsplash. (That they did not figure correctly)We received a call from the Home Depot that we needed to pay this money. When I called the Janesville Home Depot store I spoke with the assistant store manager and his response to me was that he had made an error and we did not owe any additional money, so at that point, I deleted the emails and dropped the issue. Several weeks later, I received another email from the assistant manager stating that he had made a mistake and that we in fact did owe the $1002.28 but he was willing to only bill us for half of that because of his error. Multiple times I tried to reach out to the store manager and never heard from him. Last Friday March 14th we received a collections notice for the entire balance of $1002.28. Supposedly a registered letter was sent to us, but we never received anything. We are completely debt-free With almost a perfect credit score and this bill is sent to a collection agency. Home Depot does not care about its customers. They do not bill properly and as of today, we have cut up both of our credit cards and will never ever shop there again. The funny thing here is I just went out and got the mail and in our mail is a Home Depot letter advertising 24 month free financing. That notice will be filed with the chopped up credit cards,If you are all smart, you will not make the mistake of giving them your business do the smart thing and shop at Menards or Lowe's, (who honor veterans and care about their customers.) read more

Floor Installation Only Review We went to this Home Depot to buy our flooring materials and have an installation set up. Little did we know that Home Depot contracts this to a company who sub contracts it out. So once installation started if any problems arose, which the people they sent were severely under trained to do their job to begin with, they would sit in their truck for hours waiting for a reply. It was a total joke, installation went 2 days longer then it should of without the job even being completed because the installation was too hard for the installers. DO NOT get installation services through Home Depot!!!! read more

Indoor lumber yard is the best. As for home improvement stores, this is by far my favorite. The staff are always very helpful and knowledgable. Upon walking into the store I am greeted and asked if I need help locating anything. The store always has what I want in stock and the prices are very reasonable. Ordered a ceiling fan online. We called our handyman & he found the downrod ( the piece the fan hangs from) missing. My local store did give him a matching one from stock. Handyman came back another day to finish & found the 60 or so nuts/ bolts needed to attach the fan blades MISSING!! This time, my local store offered virtually nothing -- said we'd have to order our missing pieces from the warehouse by REGULAR freight!! 2-3 weeks later, plus another week waiting for the handyman, & we've finally got a working fan. Wow, is all I can say after being at Home Depot today. During a pandemic, where masks and sanitation are at the forefront of every business; not 1 employee wore a mask, not 1!! A major appliance order of ours got delayed by a month. We appreciate how well the above staff worked with us during this period. Instead of getting irritated with our phone calls and requests, they delighted us by providing solutions to our immediate needs with a pleasant and professional attitude. John is the best store manager we have ever seen at a hardware store. He went out of his way to help us. Mary, Jeff and Kelly were also very patient and answered all our questions and addressed our concerns. We were extremely happy with the actions they took to find solutions to problems and make the customer happy, rather than throw up their hands and reiterate the obvious, as has happened to us at other stores. Every home depot store and all other hardware stores across the country should learn from these employees, we feel. It is because of this exceptional customer service that we shop at this store time and again. Very disappointing experience. I usually have staff falling all over themselves to help me. Today I spent over a half hour in Building Materials waiting for assistance that never came. I went to Home Depot because of their selection and quality. But lately customer service has been somewhere between poor and non-existent. Guess I'll have to go to Lowe's or Menard's. read more

The prices are higher on every item compared to other hardware stores. The only difference is they have Behr paint and I will pay a premium for this paint because it is that good. My wife found some nice mirrors she wanted and we checked on Amazon and found the item $80 cheaper. It is unprofessional that a lady at the paint department was making passes at my wife. This is a hardware store and not a meat market for Home Depot employees. read more
