Went to Home Depot earlier this morning to get ready to work on renovations. We were in the flooring aisle, saw a lot of great discounts, however missed our chance two weeks shy of getting any products we wanted. The employee in charge of the area was helpful. He helped us look around for the nearest Home Depot where they might have what we wanted. The quantity would have fallen too short and we decided we can move forward next time. Everything else we needed was good to go. Between paints, security doors, ceiling lights, and more - anything home related and do it yourself, you can find at Home Depot. Please read before buying LG! We bought an LG washing machine, replacing our old LG (10 year warranty). After a short few months it started to destroy our clothes. It first accord after washing our sheets. They looks like some sharp object would be in the drum and pull strands out of the fabric. We checked the drum, stroked over every inch with our hands, used cotton balls to see if anything stuck - nothing! I called customer service (we ordered our washer directly from LG). They told us to run the drum clean cycle 5 times in a row (that's 7.5 hours!) that should solve the problem. We did and the next load of laundry had the same problem. We called LG again, send them pictures as requested, were told they investigate and call back. They never did. Today was the 6th time I called and also send an email to the president. After telling them that I will write this review and post it everywhere I was asked by the supervisor if I use the right cycle to wash my laundry. I am 69 years old and know how to do laundry. Finally I was told he would pass it on to their service center which will contact me to find out if it is a manufactory defect. This goes on now for over 6 weeks. The service center contacted us via text and asked what are the defective parts - how am I supposed to know? The next message was they reach out if they have someone available. I would stay away from LG which is hard to say because we have LG everywhere from fridge to TVs but if something is wrong it is the worse customer service you ever experience. read more

Bad customer service, I recently purchased two boxes of flooring from Home Depot. When I opened one of the boxes to begin installation, I discovered that the flooring pieces do not properly connect together -- indicating a quality or manufacturing defect. When I went to return the items, I was informed that only unopened boxes could be returned. However, the opened box is the one that revealed the defect, which could not have been identified without opening it. The associate at the store mentioned that because I opened it, I would need to keep it -- but I believe this situation should be treated as a product quality issue rather than a standard return. read more

Terrible customer service. I want to buy a product, there's no one to unlock the cabinet where the product is. Requested via app, requested through customer service but no luck. Oscar was friendly, patient, extremely professional, and determined to help me purchase the model I needed. This Home Depot is awful. I am redoing my bathroom and kitchen, and I have been coming here for tile and other items. The first time I asked for curbside pickup they put the items in a locker instead. The second time I came here, for bathroom floor tile, they shorted me half the order with no explanation. The delivery person had no idea why and had to bring me inside to speak to a manager. The inventory said that they had plenty but they just hadn't pulled it. I placed an order again two days ago for simple subway tile and trim. I never received a confirmation that the order was ready so I called. I got transferred to the main customer service number which told me that yes, my order was ready, but I should double check with the store. Every time I called the store they would transfer me back to the main customer service number. I finally got through to the store and was told that yes, my order was ready. I didn't appreciate the fact that I was called sweetie, honey, and Mama while I was on the phone with that person. I arrived at the store and checked in at curbside pickup. After 20 minutes I called the store to find out what was the hold up since I was the only person in the curbside pickup area. They said they never got my curbside check-in. Then they sent someone out finally with the tile but again, I was shorted a few pieces. The delivery person ran in to get more and she was very nice about it, but I felt bad for her. Whoever is picking and completing their orders is doing a terrible job. I had ordered something in Paramus the other day because that store is close to my job, and it was ready within an hour. When I pulled in it was delivered to my car within 5 minutes. I think if I need anything else I'm going to pick it up at the Home Depot near work. Do not go here looking for help, don't go to home depot if you're "not sure" of what you need. Don't come here for curbside drop off or for *laughing out loud appliances to be installed or to hire a contractor to install something. You will be met with an insurmountable amount of dissatisfaction, disappointment, and waste a phDs worth of time. When you order something that's not on the shelf but is way up top where their store stock on hand, they will tell you flat out, "let me get someone who handles this department". Twice this happened to me on 2 different days. I then tried ordering online for pick up, twice, and my order got cancelled claiming it was out of stock, Although I was just there only to see the stocks are up above the shelf. This was the absolute worst experience with an appliance purchase, so I will detail below: 1- Ordered a refrigerator on 10/4/21 and was told that they could not deliver until 10/26/21. I know that there are supply change issues so fine. 2- 10/26 arrives. I am told to empty my fridge and unplug, that the delivery would arrive between 12 and 4 PM. 3- The tracker says they are on their way. I keep checking, particularly after 4:00, because no fridge has arrived. 4- * There is no one who EVER answers at their delivery center, so I keep calling Home Depot. This is when I learn that they do not do their own delivery, but rather sub-contract out. HOME DEPOT SOMEHOW BELIEVES THAT THIS MEANS IT IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. It took several hours on hold to learn this information. 5 - The next day I call Home Depot yet again. Get through to a manager who FINALLY gets ahold of the delivery company and SURPRISE, there is no possible delivery because the item is not in stock. 6- I look online and the item appears to be in stock but they have raised the price by $400, so take what you will from that. 7- I get an email from the delivery company saying that now they want to deliver the item on 11/16. Since there were absolutely no consequences for not delivering the fridge on 10/26 I figured this was not great. 8- Home Depot said that they would see what they could do and get back to me. Does anyone want to guess if they got back to me? 9- Called two days later and asked if there was any progress. There was not, so I said to cancel the order. 10 - They said the order was canceled but never sent me confirmation or informed the delivery company or refunded my money. When I asked why they said it was because the item was not returned to the warehouse. I totally lost it. Exactly what item were they waiting for? 11- So supposedly I am getting a refund this week. 12 - In summary -- Around 10 hours in time, $300 in groceries, no refund of $1,600, and NO REFRIGERATOR. I assume that was sold to someone for $1,900 dollars. It will be a cold day in hell before I ever deal with this company again! read more

I am a regular at this Home Depot location, as it is walking distance from my home. It is perfect for DIY projects and home owners on a budget. The selection is amazing. It is simply hard not to leave the place with something outside the shopping list. All of my gardening supplies and drills are from Home Depot. I love the fact that they have lockers where you can simply stop by and pick up your orders without having to wait in line and show your ID. It is perfect when walking the dog, for instance, and the order is small enough to fit in a backpack. I have never used their subcontractors and am aware of the ill reputation. I simply never had the need to hire a contractor from Home Depot as I have my own for the very big projects. My kitchen was renovated through HD, at least for the hardware side. My bathroom, however, is entirely from home Depot. The parking space is gigantic and never full. But even if it were, there is plenty of street parking on either side of the building. This particular location has a Raymour & Flannigan store next to it, which makes it awesome. You can really get everything done for your house in one block. I'm not sure about customer service here, since I do research prior to going to the store, and if I need advice I ask my contractor. This is the worst Home Depot ever. I really mean ever. One employee was FaceTiming her boyfriend while I waited to be helped. Another guy looked at me like I was interrupting his phone call. You spend half of the time trying find someone to help you. I've complained to multiple managers over the last 3 years. They act like I'm the only one who has ever complained. I suggest anyone who considered getting home appliances or custom window blinds from Home Depot think twice. My experiences with this place have been negative. First of all, there was no one at the blinds department who can answer my questions. Even after the Customer Service Department paged someone to come, please expect to wait for half an hour. When I placed my order online and wanted to take advantage of their online promotion of applying for their credit card, however, the webpage set up is just very confusion, and I did not get the promotion. The worse is yet to come, a few days later, I found out that they canceled my order! No one even noticed me that my order was canceled. I did not get an email notification! When I complained at their website under customer review, they did not even let me post my comments! I am very disappointed with this store and their services. As a result, I went to a nearby Lowes and my experiences there was complete the opposite. First of all, there is a customer service representative at the Window Blinds department whom I may talk to. She is very helpful! She let me know there is a promotion at that time and she even told me there is a promotion going on for window measurement services. She helped me to schedule the measurement service and placed my order of custom blinds. After I received the blinds within two weeks, she helped me to schedule installation. she followed up with me on a timely basis and gave me updates. This is my first experience with Lowes and I am very happy with the services I got at Lowes! Another disappointing experience I had with Home Depot is relating to my purchase of new home appliances. My husband and I bought a new home last December. During Thanksgiving, we shopped for new appliances for our new home and we ordered a dishwasher, a fridge, and a gas range stove from Home Depot and asked them to deliver in late February 2021 (because we need to renovate our new home first and planned to move in in February 2021). The day before our schedule delivery date, I received an email from Home Depot saying that they experiencing delay and need to reschedule the delivery to mid-March! From November to late February, they have almost three months and they cannot even deliver on time! I cannot believe that such a big corporation has such bad reliability! They canceled the delivery the day before and totally messed up my moving plan!! I am totally disappointed with Home Depot. What is more? They told us two months after we placed and paid for our order that they did not have the dishwasher that we ordered! What a joke! I wanted some shelving installed in two closets. I went to the Home Depot and got a number for the Home Depot custom closet person. I called and made an appointment. On the day of the appointment I received a phone call from the technician, Chuck was his name. Nice enough fellow. He didn't want to come if I wasn't a serious customer. I found that uncomfortable but I assured him I wanted the service so he came. He drew up some plans and sent me an estimate. This was 10/19/22. We compared prices and in installation dates. Home Depot couldn't do the instal until February. I got back to them the second week of November. I wanted to green light the project. Chuck immediately told me the price had gone up substantially. I still wanted the install and asked him to draw up a contract at which point I learned I would have to pay -- in advance -- 99% of the cost of the closet shelving. In advance. ?? Where do they do that. I can see leaving a deposit but paying basically 100% in advance for a service I have yet to receive? That's something I was not going to do. I told Chuck I was not interested in paying in advance. He said in New Jersey that's the law. I don't know if it is the law or not, what I do know is that I wasn't going to give Home Depot over $3,000 (+) to hold for two months until they came in February to put some shelves in two closets for me. I told them thank you very much. A few minutes later a supervisor called me. She said, "if you were buying a refrigerator you would pay in advance and wait for delivery." I told her this is not a refrigerator. I said thank you very much for your time and I will not use their service. I found another contractor--highly recommend. They require a twenty percent down payment and the balance upon completion of the project. They can start in January. I do not think making a customer pay 100% (99%) in advance is a good policy and I don't think it's the "law" in New Jersey. Either way I'm not interested in participating in this relationship where I assume all of the contingencies and the financial responsibility. February might roll around and they might raise the price again and change the deliverable date. No thank you. read more

It's no surprise this store has such a low rating we placed an order on line for pickup at this store when we arrived we parked in the specific spot for curbside and called the posted number surprise no answer. So we proceeded inside only to find that the order that was placed Friday hadn't been picked. Ok so we decided to spend more money and get other stuff we needed. I had to use the men's room OMG there was shit and urine over flowing in all the stalls iron all over the floor everywhere so disgusting. Ok now we go up front to get our stuff only to be told nothing we asked for was in stock. I'm in retail and were I work we practice the safety expectations of vivid 19 not Home Depot employees walked around no mask or if they had them they were around their necks and they were all bunched up at the customer service desk no social distancing here!!!! The manager Omar came over and said after looking everything we wanted happened to be in stock except the grill we wanted , guess what after we looked they had not one but 9 grills in stock!!! BEYOND TERRIBLE! This company scheduled my refrigerator delivery for last Tuesday, gave me a delivery window and called the night prior to confirm. After a 20 minute wait to speak to a representative, I come to find out that they supposedly came to the house but no one was home. I have security cameras and the Ring - they did NOT come to the house. They did NOT call the number on file to contact someone. My call with the representative got disconnected so again I call to find out the previous person scheduled my delivery for a different date without my knowledge or consent. Today, after a second day of waiting and three phone calls to the delivery company and Home Depot AND two lost days of work, I come to find out that again "came to the house but no one was home." I never come to Home Depot but it's the most convenient hardware store from my home. The people there are not helpful. The only helpful people there are fellow customers. They asked if my mom and I need help with something and they didn't hesitate to help us out picking out our products. Since we had other errands to go and we parked by the returns booth/cashier, we had only three items to purchase. However, poor customer service from a girl (her name was Brittany) working at one of the return booth/cashiers. She was very rude and nasty with my mother. I'm writing this review because you have to be kind to customers to get positivity back at you. I visited this particular Home Depot location around 6:30pm and received by far, the BEST customer service at a hardware store/home improvement business ever, from a young gentleman named Ron. He was juggling so many tasks and customers all at once but he didn't forget to accommodate to my needs. I had a special case where I ordered a specific filter for my mother's old versioned Dirt Devil vacuum but the filter i purchased was a newer version so it didn't quite fit into the vacuum's canister. Ron told me it's best to improvise in cases like these so he instructed me to get sand paper to rub against the inside of the canister's top. By doing so, I managed to curve the edges in a way the canister's top could fit the filter. My hands were so tired that Ron offered to help out whenever he could even though the phone was constantly ringing and customers were asking for help. I must say his undivided attention to my needs was so commendable and I really hope his manager reads my yelp review because Ron is a gem!!!! Right now, my mother and me are testing the vacuum and it's working perfectly fine. We are so happy with the results!!! Do not use them to deliver a refrigerator - whatever company they use are horrible. Not only was I discriminated against but I was cursed at in Spanish and a video taken of me with out my consent. the delivery people would not carry it upstairs and told me I could not run an ice line - my 15 year old daughter ended up running the line and I had to pay people to carry it upstairs. I also have a dent in the front of the refrigerator which paying $2,000 for the thing, it looks horrible. Customer services is even worse after spending 5 different days trying to get someone to help me and countless hours on hold and on line, I received an email saying that they could not help me. Do not use this store for cabinet installation. You get more run around then anything else. Their customer service is a disgrace, can't get straight answers. They must think you have nothing better to do but make phone calls everyday. They make the process so much harder then it has to be. I will not spend another dime in any Home Depot I rather pay twice the price and get it done. Really is a shame when a company gets so big they just don't care. Had a contractor of theirs measure then ordered the cabinets, the sale person couldn't figure how to get them all delivered to the store so had some delivered to the house, paid extra for them to deliver them inside but found out they won't because of Covid but the salesman didn't know that I guess no one talks. And no one spoke of refunding our money on that. Now we have a second measurement and noticed 3 cabinets were different sizes then what we had. We're not doing a remodel doing a replacement. So 3 weeks of back and forth because I can't see the measurements I have to go by what they say because even though I paid for them my measurements can't be disclosed to me had to return the cabinets from my house back to the store for a full refund. I've lived in Jersey City for almost twelve years now and have been shopping at this Home Depot pretty much since I moved here. The customer service has indeed improved over the years, perhaps with the advent of the Lowes up the street and the other Home Depot store that opened a few years ago near the Holland Tunnel. As someone who drives extensively around New Jersey, I have visited several stores within 50 miles away of this location. I have found that the customer service is rather friendly, indeed more friendly than most other Home Depot stores I've been to. You see them joking around with each other concerning work-related topics without detracting away from the service provided to customers, which I see is a testament to a healthy workplace as opposed to having sullen folks projecting an air of indifference towards their customers. I have had issues with a major cabinet installation as well as appliance delivery, but these issues are hardly the fault of this individual store. Rather, they are the result of dysfunction from the subcontractors that (I believe) all of the Home Depots in the area are obliged to use. The important thing in both cases for me was that the associate(s) in charge of the project, order, or customer service issue stick with me until the end, and in all cases, this criteria was met. Hence, there really is no reason for me to give this store any less than four stars. Seeing the negative reviews from other Yelpers, I can understand their frustration. But the folks working at the store can only do so much. I have waited just as long at the Holland Tunnel Home Depot and the Lowes for help at different hours of the day. I prefer this location over the Holland Tunnel one because generally, this store carries more inventory. My suggestion is to check online prior to leaving home whenever possible. And no, I don't work for the store or Home Depot. I'd write a review for the Holland Tunnel store as well as Lowes, but I haven't had as much experience at those stores. read more

I dislike this Home Depot a great amount. I went there sometime possibly around September of October 2014 on a weekend. I was trying to do a DIY project and needed a couple of things on my list. As soon as I came in their was one Caucasian girl in the front. She did what she was supposed to do which is ask if we needed help which I liked a lot. We declined (I was with a friend) and kept looking around as I thought I would find the things I needed myself. In my search I saw I was having a hard time so I sought help. What should have only took 10-20 mins to find what I needed took an hour and in the end I still didn't find everything. NO STAFF was "SPECIALIZED" in all of departments I was looking for materials from. Everyone was on their "Oh, I don't work in that department" mindset. It happened more than 5-6 times that no one was able to help me. When some worker I asked dispatched to put an "All Points Bulletin" on the person who works for that department the worker was no where to be found for more than 30 mins. Is their only one person who works for every department because no one was helpful at all! Except the Caucasian girl at the front door, but later she became missing as well when I went back to look for her and ask for help. But it's not her fault, she asked me and I declined at that time. I WILL NEVER EVER GO TO THAT HOME DEPOT AGAIN. P.S. I went across the street to "Lowes"! Let me tell you....I wasn't in there for more than 10-20mins and all the staff were super helpful! I was upset at the fact that I should've just went there in the first place. They all knew what they were doing. If you want to go to this "Home Depot" do not!! Lowes is right across the street and you will thank me!!!! But then you meet some folks here who go above and beyond to help out. The selection was minimal but I did find something I could use. The price was fair to high. Staff did help direct me to the curtain rods without any hassle. Bthrooms are fairly cleanish. read more
