Just venting. Went to Home Depot today in Madison. Sign has been up for about a month stating loropetalum and other shrubs are half price. Sign even says if priced at this, you pay this...Load cart up and proceed to check out inside as garden center is closed. lady at checkout says she's not aware of any sale, I have to prove to her that plants are on sale. I need to talk to someone in the garden center. I go to back to the garden center and the 2 guys there tell me I have to back outside and get the sign showing they are on sale and take it back to indoor check out. I do that... they are not convinced that sign belongs to those plants. The guys in the garden center (who have the plants in trying to buy) call someone else. He says in this instance he will make an exception and honor the price I'm stating. They want me to go back into the store, walk back to the garden center, get the plants and the sign and go back to cashier. They tell me they're not their plants, they belong to a third party vendor and they can't just give them away ! They didn't give them away. I left. read more

I like to shop brick and mortar because I can shop...put my hands on it, and think about it/compare it with other things you have. My weak spot is Milwaukee tools. Your store has always been a good representative. I walked in today hoping to buy a 12V Ratchet and maybe some fun accessories. I was recorded and presented from inspecting the box and specification of anything I might buy without asking for a sales associate to unlock it for me. Seriously? Horrible experience, guys. The Home Depot - Aisle 52 - Hardware Stores Near Me - Madison, Alabama

We've been working with the "kitchen design" service team for about 10 weeks. The lady works less than part time and is not nearly as good as the male designer, who was knowledgeable and was very helpful and prompt when we met him at our last appointment for advice regarding backsplash options for our kitchen remodel. He provided fast, useful recommendations with a genuine sense of a design background. For some reason, you have to schedule appointments and communicate with this team via email. The hubs handled all that thank goodness, because I'm better with a phone call. The H.D. design team sent out a cabinet guy to our home and the appointment was supposed to last 45 minutes. We had no idea this person was going to be in our home over 3+ hours, pitching the H.D." philosophy" including what our "feelings were [about H.D]" and our "expectations" via a PowerPoint/video presentation that lasted I don't know a painful 20-40 minutes. This was followed by him showing various cabinet samples and hardware. H.D. told us this person could paint/refurbish our current cabinets, which was an option we were considering at that time. He could not offer any of those services or information about them. He *could* however, provide information about the "French Elvis" [Johnny Halleyday] and even wrap up his sales pitch with some literal, real tears, while relaying his reunion with a former classmate in France, who has since become his wife [?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!]. Then he quoted me $40,000.00 for new kitchen cabinets for us, *with* a 10 percent discount *if* we accepted the quote before close of business the same day. Soooooo, nearly 4 hours after arrival and I have to sort of show the guy the door, because my husband has a strict running regiment that he can't deviate from and there I am, missing 4 hours of life I will never get back; and with an exorbitant quote [we purchased the cabinets from a locally owned Mom and Pop shop for 1/2 that price]. We did purchase our countertops from H.D., and that experience, with the exception of one piece being the wrong size due to their errant measuring [which they came out the next day and fixed], was good. We are happy with our H.D. countertops, in terms of price, quality, and install. Think twice before using the H.D. design services unless you have a boatload of patience, are not on a tight deadline to finish a project, and don't really require design advice. read more

A few years back I purchased 10 American Craftsman windows for our house. As time passed the seal on four of them failed and they clouded up. I stopped in and saw Jeff Watson to order replacements. Jeff informed me they should be covered by warranty and took care of me. He was extremely helpful, especially seeing I was willing to purchase replacements. Yesterday I just installed the replacements and I couldn't be happier. What a great window warranty, great store and great service. I thank you so much for helping me out. I placed an order online with home delivery. Two weeks later, I got an email from FedEx stating it had been delivered at 10pm the prior evening. No sight of my order. I can't get anyone to talk with or contact me at FedEx. I called Home Depot & they said it's not their problem, that I need to call FedEx. Home Depot said FedEx has proof it was delivered. If so, show me the pic or proof. I didn't hire FedEx to deliver my order. That was Home Depot. So Home Depot got my money. FedEx blows me off. Very frustrating. read more

This is the only store that has the jiffy greenhouse kits for starting seeds I have looked everywhere and this home depot keeps this item in stock even during the winter months. I had to ask for an employee to get a pallet of them down so I could get one but they were super polite in doing so this is more than I can say for lowes because they don't ever have this product and getting someone to help you is near impossible at Lowe's. read more

Predatory rip off. Stay away from this store at all costs. Also be careful not to ever sign up for a credit card with Home Depot at any store in the world. I purchased an item for $59 and got charged an annual fee of $54. Basically cause I did not read the small little print I have to pay double what the item was worth. I learned my lesson. ** This Review is for the Paint Section ** I really like the store on Lawson's Ridge Drive. I do a LOT of business there. The one glaring thing I have to complain about is a single employee who works in the paint department (which I frequent). Makes me want a pull my hair out. Her name is Dee, and she is the MOST unfriendly, unhelpful, and unenthusiastic employee I've ever seen. IN MY LIFE. She is SLOW. Ridiculously slow in everything she does. And she's so unbelievably unhelpful that it borders on passive RUDENESS. And when you speak with her about assistance you need with something, she looks at you with a look of complete apathy and disinterest. It's very clear that she doesn't care about her job, or her customers. When she's working, it's almost impossible to get paint mixed without being in the store at least AN HOUR, because Dee has the line to get paint backed up!! When other people work the paint section, they're pleasant, helpful, and efficient. But other times, I walk in and see slow, uninterested Dee piddling around as slowly as possible with a look on her face that SCREAMS out "I don't want to be here, and don't you dare bother me." I just feel like it's a total miscarriage of justice to allow someone like her to get away with behaving that way in a workplace environment AND to show basic contempt for the Home Depot customers that she's paid to assist and serve. It's literally so bad that when she's working, I literally drive across town to a different Home Depot store to get my paint. It's THAT ridiculous. I wish they would remedially TRAIN HER to do her job and hold her to a certain standard of proficiency and FRIENDLINESS toward the customers, or fire her!! read more

Horrible service and will not return again. Went there to order cabinets and was told that the people that work there will be in the next day and to come back. I return the next day only to be told that the people working won't be back until Friday and today is Wednesday, are you freaking serious?! I wanted to purchase a 1/2 x 24 x 48 inch board and have them cut into sections 1/2 x 6 x 44 and another piece 1/2 x 9 x 44. When I talked to a worker in the lumber department to get this done he said they can't do do that because it's a safety issue if they have to cut it under 12" in width. So, I put everything in my cart back and went to Lowe's, found the same size board and gave them the same cutting instructions. They cut it without hesitation. read more

So....I spent at least 30 minutes looking over refrigerators while three HD employees sat 20 feet away from me chit-chatting. Not a single one of them offered to help me. Not one. Then when I finally decided on which one I wanted, I had to go over and ask for help to purchase it. When that person went to ring me up, he told me that the refrigerator was out of stock. I asked when it would be back in stock and he replied that the computer had no back in stock availability. So naturally I asked him why he had refrigerators on the floor that were not marked "not in stock". He said they don't have time to keep tabs on all the appliances on the floor. REALLY? Three employees have thirty-plus minutes to do nothing but chit-chat, but not enough time to do an availability run on their major appliances? That's just a complete training/management failure. I went next door and purchased a refrigerator at Lowe's in twenty minutes. The help was outstanding!!! read more

Typical do it yourself store. If you aren't familiar with these guys there is a chance you have never ventured out of the house. They have just about anything you can think of for that do-it-yourself home project. From outdoor decking, fence, concrete, plants to indoor, too, paint, appliances, carpet, doors, windows, etc. Customer service was really good at this location. They were friendly and greeted us when we walked in the door. Customer service was quick to wait on us and get an order that had been placed on-line. Order arrived at the store fast and was easy to pick up at the store. Really the only down grade as far as the review would be they made a mix up and only because we questioned the number of packages, did they go back and find two more boxes that were needed to complete the order. Wouldn't hesitate to come here to shop for do-it-yourself projects. Prices are reasonable and staff was friendly/helpful. Overall good experience. read more

Home Depot really screwed us over recently. We needed to order some cedar for a project we were working on. We shopped around for quite some time and we had two places promise to have the cedar delivered before a certain date. We chose Home Depot because they quoted us just a little less on price. We desperately needed that cedar when they promised it to us. It never came. We called multiple times and kept getting the run around. It was extremely frustrating. The cedar was a week late. When we finally received it several boards were damaged but we were forced to use them anyway. Do not rely on Home Depot when it comes to ordering lumber! read more

Ordered Washer and Dryer, waited 4 weeks for delivery an dinstallation. Delievry never showed up and Home Depot closed the delivery/install request as 'Delivered". They Lied. I was home all day and no one showed up to deliver the products I already paid for. Called Customer service and they just blamed the delivery team and could do NOTHING but reschedule my delivery/install for two weeks later. Still waiting. Be careful when ordering a delivery and good luck on getting your product. They don;t care about customer service once you've paid for your products. read more

Five (5) stars is not enough! We purchased a Hampton Bay fan (Model: AL685-ORB, Serial # 000168) for our family room and since day one it has performed in an erratic manner. The light would come on and off at will, and the fan would change speeds on its own... We found those quirky characteristics rather amusing, but the situation reached an unacceptable point. We recently turned it on and it started sounding like a piston engine on a Douglas DC-3 aircraft. I tried calling the Home Depot 800 Customer Service line and all I got was a series of un-applicable prompts to chose from... I just want to speak to some one! Is it that hard? Finally after a one (1) and a half hour wait I get some person who tells me that the only solution to my issue is for me to send the motor in for repair at my expense both ways. I though this was crazy, so I decided to try and contact the local HD manager (Ricky). As soon as I spoke with Ricky and explained the situation she provided viable courses of action focused on customer satisfaction. She seemed to agree that the response provided telephonically was a bit off and suggested that I come into the store and see what fans she had in stock. She offered a direct exchange, even for a fan unit that was discontinued. We went to the store and found a unit that was less in cost than the original one but we were happy to accept the one for one trade. Ricky I was not able to thank you personally, but you are the stellar example of what a customer oriented manager should be. Home Depot should be proud to have a person with your skills on the Team. I went to the Home Depot paint department to have a 5 gallon tub of paint (that I bought there) a few months ago shaken up. The woman behind the counter refused to help. She made up an excuse of why she would not shake up the paint. She said it would get all over HER machine. When I told her I was going to go to Lowe's to get it shaken up she did not care about a customer walking out unsatisfied. I went to Lowe's and they did not even ask where I bought the paint they put it in the shaker and 3 minutes later I was all set. I also bought $35 worth of brushes, rollers and a drop cloth. Shame on Home Depot for being complacent to a customers needs. read more

I purchase 20-40 pound bags of water softener salt several times a year from HD #803 in Madison, AL. In the past I've always been able to get a store person to help load, get thru checkout and loaded into my van. The last time, I had asked for help at the customer service counter. Nobody showed up. I was standing by the salt hoping to get some help. Nothing. Tired of waiting I started loading 800 lbs of salt onto a cart myself. Several times male store personnel walked by chatting among themselves and never offered anything. One turned a corner, saw me and actually ran in the other direction. He wanted no part of my exercise. I loaded 800 lbs, got it paid for and unloaded it in my van myself. I'm 72 years old which is not to say that I expected them to do everything for me. I've always done my share of the work but this time ended up doing it all myself. Some assistance would have been appreciated. Sometimes I wonder about Home Depot. read more
