Similar bad experiences trying to get carpet and trying to get a security door. Both involved waiting a long time for someone to come out who was clearly not qualified and telling me they couldn't do it (the door) or couldn't do it for anywhere near what was originally quoted (carpet). Walked in to return some items I didn't need, I was the only one in line. There was a woman who I thought was a customer but it turns out was an off duty employee chatting with the customer service employee. I stood there at least ten mins while the employee spoke with someone regarding employment. She never acknowledged me and made no attempt to close out or put the caller on hold. It wasn't until another employee came back from her break that I was helped. Customer service was never on her mind. Very disappointed. read more

We were there today, only because it is the only place to buy Behr paint. I was looking for a gardenia. The hanging pothos inside the store, a whole rack of them, were ghastly, most of them on their last leg. I own a private nursery of some hundreds of plants, so I know a soon-to-be-dead plant when I see one. AND I picked three of them up, light as feathers. On my way outside to find a gardenia I passed an employee and gently told him the pothos are in desperate need of water. He said, Oh, I watered those this morning. I looked him straight in the eye and said that is not true. He shrugged and kept walking, headed back to the service desk where he and other employees were gossiping. I took a pothos out to a girl watering and asked her to water the poor thing, and returned it to the rack. Oh, and the gardenia? Burnt to a crisp. All of them. Not getting our business! read more

This rating is specific to the Merced Home Depot Store's "Curb Side Pickup." I arrived at the store and parked in the curb side pickup. I called the telephone number on the sign and all it did was ring. After about 3 minutes of constant ringing, I hung up and waited another five minutes and dialed again. This time some guy came on and when I told him that I was at curb side parking with an order, he told me that I would have to wait for about 20 to 30 minutes before somebody can bring my order out. I asked why and he siad because they were very busy and I asked "with order pickups?" He said no, mostly returns. I asked him that if they pushed for curbside pickup, way don't they have a dedicated associate that does just that as I noticed a few other waiting too. He said talk to the manager and hung up! Went to the entrance and was asked "SDhopping, Returns, or Pick Up?" and when I said pickup, they pointed to a line of people who are returning merchandise (about 10-12 folks). Next time, I'll have them deliver it to my address free of charge but a cost to them!!!!! read more

Very helpful and friendly workers not only did I find what I need but I also got useful advice

I came into the Merced Home Depot location today for a replacement refrigerator water filter. I live about 20 minutes away so I always check the app for what I need to make sure what I need is in stock. The app said there were 12 filters of the model I was looking for so I went ahead and made the trip out there. When I got there I went over to the isle and bay that the app said they were located at. The shelf had the tag but it was empty. I called someone over to ask for help. They looked it up on their little hand held device and were told they had them in stock but they couldn't find them. There was 4 employees looking for them in different areas of the store including above the shelves. I spent 30 minutes there while 4 employees couldn't find what the app and they themselves told me they had. Worst part is, this isn't the first time this has happened to me here. About 2 weeks prior I went in looking for a kitchen sink soap pump cover. Again, the app said they had multiples in stock but the shelf was empty. The employee I asked for help looked it up and said "we have it in stock, but who knows if I can find it" I walked out the store immediately after hearing that. Both times I drove over to Lowe's to find the item I'm looking for, stocked on the shelf exactly where the app says it's located. In and out in less than 10 minutes. I'm seriously considering closing my Home Depot account and opening one at Lowe's and never stepping foot at a Home Depot again. read more

Very upset at Home Depot when u buy a washing machine and you pay for the warranty you expect to be taken care of courteously and promptly. Unfortunately that has not been my experience with the Home Depot warranty dept. They sent a provider out to asses my washer. The provider did and now they don't want to pay that provider because they say that he is charging more than they agreed on and now I have to wait for a different provider to come and asses my washer. We are now going on two weeks without the washer. They said we could use it but the problems are getting worse so we choose not to. So now probably going to end up waiting another two weeks before it gets fixed because the last provider said the parts needed would take 1-2 weeks to get. Disgusting how a multimillion to billion dollar company is fighting over. A hundred or so dollars. Now I will end up not ever buying nothing from them and I'm only 39 and believe me I will let all my family and friend know to beware because they might get this same horrible service. read more

For being in a smaller town they have a great selection of lumber compared to the Turlock,Ca. I usually drive here just to get good quality lumber. read more

Was looking for an LG 10,000 BTU air conditioner and there were none in stock but one of the workers (I feel bad I never found out her name) went above and beyond helping us look through an opened returned unit but it turned out there was a part missing. So we didn't end buying that one obviously but she helped us order one from Los Banos that was going to be shipped up the next day and due to all the "hassle" she gave us the $50 off that she had originally offered us if we would've bought the returned air conditioner before we knew a part was missing. read more

this store location has never I repeat never had my online purchase waiting for me at there will call counter and most of the time states that there is no record of my order and today said that I have never ordered anything from their store, even though we have spent upwards of 60k annually. I would not recommend this home depot and I would shop elsewhere if I had a choice. read more

Home depot proves themselves time and time again, but today was the best. i went in there to get the bar part of a towel holder. they sell them but they Were out of the 24" , so the manager marked the whole unit ($13),down to the bar price, $4! a savings of $9!. Thanks home depot. read more

i went to Home Depot the other day and this employee named Jim was so awesome. He went above and beyond to help me. He seen that I was on crutches and I wasn't able to carry the item I needed to buy. He offered & he also was nice enough to carry to my car. Three other employees walked right by me didn't ask to help or if I'm looking for anything. Before Jim came by I told myself I will take picture of the barcode of the item I wanted & go home & order it to have it delivered. All I can say is I appreciate the customer service that he gave me. He saved me time by assisting me. They need more employees like him. Thank You Jim!!!!! read more

The store seems decent compared to other Home Depot stores. The men's bathroom had some of the nicest remodel I have ever seen for a Home Depot, however there was an actual pile of poop on top of the toilet, not in the toilet!!!!! The other two stalls were also ratchet. The sinks were once white, but are now brown. read more

I am and have been a large shopper in your store for years. But you need to post security in the parking lot. I just got home after a five minute trip to buy a valve stem and discovered someone had stolen my tool box out of the back of my truck. I had forgot to relock it up before running in to the store and they lifted it out with all of my small tools. Needless to say I am extremely unhappy. I intend to instruct people working for me to either go some where else or lock everything in the bed of their truck. This is a sad commentary on life in Merced. This is strictly for the garden area of the Home Depot. I found that they have more of a selection then Lowes does and because of that I am giving them the 4 stars. I seem to find more of the floral and ferns I want here... I also find more pots here that are in my price range... Do not order a delivery of lumber or building materials. I placed an order weeks in advance, confirmed delivery time, then no delivery so had to buy materials elsewhere which delayed our remodel. Then another large delivery of almost $4,000 in lumber was supposed to arrive this morning. I called and was told it is on it's way, and would just be a few hours late. Now I found out that it's not coming today, and maybe they can deliver it in another 5 days. We have a crew of 6 working and waiting for those supplies. Looks like I'll have to find another supplier, more lost time and money. Just don't do it! read more

This is the worst store I have ever dealt with in 25 years of dealing with Home Depot. They are in unorganized mess. I purchased a fence from them gave them all the specs . I went to get the order and everything was wrong. Spoke to the store manager and she really didn't seem to care that much about what the problem was seem pretty preoccupied. what is tragic about this is it is preparation for foster children and I am on a time crunch. Been at the store for well over an hour and still no further along than fine I came here. Terrible terrible service. It's A leadership problem not necessarily the hourly staff. This isn't the first time I've had problems with the store, but is the only Home Depot within 50 miles of my home. I've been a customer of Home Depot for many many years and I'm ready to switch over to Lowe's. read more

On 2/10/14 purchased over $800 of doors, windows, and gutters. One of the screen doors (Napa) was found to be missing the installation hardware when I got around to opening the packaging for installation. I live about an hour from the store, so it is not convenient to pop over in person. Here are a couple things I've tried: (1) I had some time one evening and completed a Home Depot online opinion survey. When I indicated I was less than satisfied, I was asked if I would like to have the store manager contact me. I said yes and supplied lots of personal contact info. That was a few days ago - have not yet been contacted. (2) Today at 2:05 PM called the store on land line phone. Long story short: Made two calls; on the first, the extension rang a while and was finally answered by an associate who promised to help and would put me on hold and call supplier and that she also need to talk to her supervisor. Put on hold, but after a few seconds the line went dead and I got a busy signal. Called again at 2:17. Reached an associate and was referred to the "Pro desk." On hold again. Operator came on after a while and I requested Window & Door dept. Was told there was no one there and she was referring me to "Pro desk." On hold again. 2:20 PM, listening to their pitch for the Nth time about the "power of Home Depot," the line went dead. So, I was not successful in reaching them by phone. Perhaps things would have gone better if I had gone in person, but that would cost me about 3 hours of my time and about $25 in gas (for about $10 worth of hardware). I decided to see if my opinion survey would produce results. UPDATE: A few days later 2/22 I was called in the evening by the store manager, who had been informed of my problem by the corporate office as a result of the opinion survey I completed. He apologized for the missing hardware and offered to have it brought up to me in Mariposa the next day by one of the associates.2/24 an associate called me in the morning to confirm the type of screen door hardware that I needed. At that time I said that the offer to drive it up to me was very much appreciated, but they could just UPS it to me instead. She said OK and promised to get it shipped that same morning (2/.24). Received the hardware a couple days later. Bottom line: So, they did make good on my problem, but unfortunately not through any of my initial calls to the store - it was a survey complaint to the national office (I guess) that got things moving. ONE OTHER THING, IN BIG BOX STORES INSPECT THE PRODUCT PACKAGING CAREFULLY. IF IT HAS BEEN RE-TAPED OR HAS STICKERS INDICATING IT HAS BEEN RETURNED TO STOCK, CONFIRM, OR ASK AN ASSOCIATE TO CONFIRM, THAT ALL THE MATERIALS AND HARDWARE ARE PRESENT. read more

Went to HD the other day to get some lumber for a chicken coop. The guys were super helpful and friendly - not at all condescending like men in hardware stores can sometimes be to female customers. The prices are also the best. Identical lumber was 50% more expensive at Lowes. Thanks guys! read more

I have had to deal with this store twice and both times were terrible. I have been a Home Depot customer for 20 years and this is the WORST store I have encountered. Their customer service is non existent. I went in to buy a floor and by the time they were done I went with another company. They lied, were deceitful and almost a joke. I then went to buy a tractor there and was told by the associate I would get a twenty percent discount due to previous problems (this took place in front of another person). I said I would but the tractor/mower. She then came back and said her Manager Patti said I could only get 10%. When I went to speak to Patti she said the associate would be fired if she gave me the discount. Again, all this taking place in front of another person. HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have been in the Hospitality industry for 25 years and have managed some of the nicest hotels in the country. If I gave this kind of service we would have no business. Their Management team is the worst I have encountered. I am forced to go there inasmuch as I have a Home Depot card and had cancelled my Lowes card. Time to get the Lowes card back, FORGOT TO ADD SOMETHING ELSE THAT HAPPENED - when I bought the mower/tractor the associate told us that it did not have oil in the engine and it would be necessary to drive to John Deere to purchase the proper oil for the mower. Both of us asked again if she was sure about the oil and she said, yes. We drove an extra 9 miles to the John Deere store to purchase the old only to be told that they already come with the oil in the engine. Yes, we should have checked it ourselves but we relied on the information from the sales associate. We had already drove 48 miles from Mariposa to pick up the tractor, and now an additional 18 miles, really was annoying. read more

Two summers ago, I went and bought thousand dollars worth of tiles to remodel my home. The forklift driver accidentally scratched my bumper. Immediately, I requested to see the manager. She came out and inspected and took a picture of the damage. She told me not to worry and they would take care of the problem. Weeks gone by, their customer service company from Florida contacted me. I had my estimate done which cost over $1K. Home Depot only approved $200 for the damage. I then had my insurance repaired the damage; they in turn contacted Home Depot for reimbursement and Home Depot denied that the accident ever happened. If you ever shop there and they damage your car, be sure to get the driver's driver license and insurance so if Home Depot denies your claim, you could have the driver's insurance pay for it. Don't trust their fake customer service promises or you'll get burned just like me. I only shop there now unless I absolutely must and there's no where else to go. read more
