The installation subcontractors sent out by Home Depot were punctual, hardworking, and polite. I have tried to schedule an exterior door measurement, purchase and installation. They gave me a number to call, they put the project in as a window vice a door. Had to cancel the whole order. They would not speak to my tenant for scheduling, even after I authorized coordination with them. I explained both myself and tenant are military and I was out of state. Alot of back and 4th, call transfers, etc. Long story short, the service is horrible and obviously Home Depot does not want my money, or business or recommendations. I was able to do everything with a competitor same day without issues. I would not recommend Home Depot in Norfolk for any home repairs after this. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

I went to the Home Depot on Military Hwy this morning before going to work and let me say this location is always helpful. I don't know if it is because I'm usually in uniform or what, but I receive the same support regardless. Mr. Joe R. in hardware was very knowledgeable this morning while I was looking for screws to help with a mount I had purchased. What I had did not support the drywall. I went to a different location last night and they proved to be not helpful, but Mr. Joe offered before I could even ask. Top notch customer service. read more

Lied to my face or taking advantage of a woman, hard choice? We bought a refrigerator for our daughter and was told that we needed to buy a new water supply and they would then hook up the frig upon delivery. They told her it didn't need a new water supply line, and told her that they hooked it up and she was ready to go. Not sure how simply plugging it in constitutes "hooking it up". They did not hook up the water line and I was forced to scramble and find someone to complete the install so that that she could test it before the 48 hour window. While she will be needing a stove and dishwasher in the near future, we won't be coming back. Am actually hoping they lied to me vs taking advantage of a woman. read more

So sad Home Depot as a company has come to this. It is not down to some locations but mostly an overall business practice now. Be it lack of motivated employees, lack of compensation to motivate workers to do a good job, lack of management or maybe just a combination of all three and maybe few more. While working on a home project I visited Home Depot at military hey and VA beach well over 100 times in 30 days. I was just too focussed on what I needed to get in every time. Only to always forget something and have to come back. Oh well. Every visit was the same, time after time. You can't find an employee to guide you or answer basic questions or help you find an item. Thank technology for the Home Depot app and how helpful it has become. When I found an employee, they all looked rushed as if they were rushing to help a customer in dire need but if compeled to stop and assist you, 90% of the time they would tell you "let me grab someone who works this area, this is not my area and I don't know" only to disappear and nobody ever come back. Worst of all is the check out experience. While this is not only a Home Depot problem I think Home Depot is the worst store where they have 10 registers (or more) only 2 open, and then the self check out area only to have 4 or 5 employees standing just to watch you and make sure you ring everything up. Why not have them 4-5 people assist customers? If you are so concerned with theft, then eliminate the self check out and have those same 4-5 employees do something other than be there shaking their booties and making lame jokes and pretending like they are not watching you while they stare at you but yet unavailable to assist you because they have to watch the registers. The loud music, excuse me, the kids speaker they have on display for customer enjoyment doesn't make it any better either. Sad. Saddest part is that I will still come back because is where everything for home improvement is at. Most of the same review could be sallied to lowes but they are not as bad as Home Depot. More than once I was inclined to ask for a manager to discuss my concerns but then I realized that either the management was part of the problem or they didn't care because there was absolutely no way they wouldn't notice these issues. read more

Came here on Memorial Day. Service is ok here. I wish they didn't pile so much product in the front, it is hard to maneuver the rolling carts with so much product in the center areas. My husband and I came here to get a lawn mower. He checked the price online and saw that the mower was 449 online instead of the 499 that is posted in the store. We loaded the cart and proceeded to check out. We were quickly told that Home Depot does not honor their own online prices. My husband said "what do I do to get this price that is listed on your site?"Customer service said, "order it online." We left, and ordered it online. read more

Too bad I have to select a star because I wouldn't select one otherwise. I received a $100 gift card for a Christmas gift, when I "scratched" to expose the card and pin numbers, the pin number was not readable. I tried to use it and "there was nothing they could do for me" . First of all the Store Manager would not come to talk to me or even try to assist with the issue but he/she instructed the cashier who called him about it to tell me that. Second of all, I know good and well with all of our technology that there is a way to look up the card determine the pin number or the validity of the card. Third, the pin number should not have been able to be scratched through period. I scratched it the same way as the card number amd it was clearly readable. This is a rip off, my brother lost $100 of a gift to me and I lost the $100 for the same reason. Not to mention that my purchase was for more and I would have been spending much more. And the waste of my time. I will NEVER ship at Home Depot again. AND, I will tell everyone I know about this. Simply ridiculous. read more

While in town in Norfolk over the weekend, I went with my girlfriend to Home Depot to help pick out a Christmas Tree for her new apartment. I must say, it was such an easy and refreshing experience! All of their trees were neatly organized, with an array of different sizes, types and price ranges all neatly displayed and obviously labeled. We ended up going with a beautiful 5 foot tree, which was in great condition and very fairly priced. They even had much taller ones available for only $99 dollars, but we wanted something that would be easy to transport inside of the car, versus on top of the roof. We were in and out in about 20 minutes , as check-out was a breeze as well. I highly recommend this Home Depot location, especially for your Christmas needs! read more

If you are looking for customer service Home Depot as an organization is crap. Ordered a new refrigerator Aug 3rd with a delivery date of 12 Aug. I was going to be out of town for work and my wife took off of work to receive it. On 10 August we where notified that the refrigerator would be delivered a day early. Which was great because a week without a refrigerator was killing us. Delivery was between 12:30-4:30 with a 30 minute heads up phone call. My wife who works 10 minutes away could not take the day off, but with a 30 minute warning would be home to receive Delivery team called at 1:11 saying they would be there in 30 minutes, showed up at 1:16. My daughter informed them my wife was 5 minutes away. They made a phone call and left. Wife arrived home at 1:25. Home Depot customer service informed me my next option for delivery was 21 Aug, and the policy is not to wait, even though the deliver people told my daughter they could wait 15 minutes. Ive done 95% of my Home repair business through Home Depot. To include appliances. Covering 3 homes. They just lost a loyal customer for life. I might not be big fish and the loss will mean nothing to a company like Home Depot. But my family will never again spend a penny at this organization. read more

This Home Depot location is the worse. First you can't get in and out easily then when it's mulch season they load half the parking spaces with mulch limiting parking and ways to get out. Next, why do you make it so difficult to get a military discount? At Lowes you show your ID card get 10% off. At Home Depot it's like enlisting in the military to get a discount and the sells associate today had a major attitude like she ever served a day in the military! I gave my number it didn't work, which it never does, then the sales associate begins to explain how I have to go on line and re-register all my information. Why??? Meantime, the line is getting longer and she tells me to take a pic of some faded web address on the register but still doesn't give me my military discount. For the past maybe 6 visits that have been here, I have seen groups of workers sitting around talking. Normally that's not concerning, but it becomes a problem when you only have 3 self service registers open. They make you group up like 20 feet from the check outs and call you when one is open. Many people are confused because the sign is also 20 feet away from the check out stations. I learned my lesson when I was yelled at by one of the workers on a previous occasion. Today I waited about 10 minutes to purchase one item. There were two people in front of me and when it was my turn to walk over, there were about 10. There were three workers standing in the area not doing anything while one was assisting customers. Not sure if it is poor management or poor work ethic or both. read more

Paid for carpet measuring and estimate. The lady that came to my home was really nice and incredibly knowledgeable about the measuring and my carpet choice. She put in all of my info and explained that someone would contact me with the quote. All was going well until a few days later when a man from Home Depot called asking me for my carpet selection ID. I was digging for the swatch and asked him to double-check his info while I was searching because the measurer had recorded all of the info. I honestly thought there was a simple mistake until he started yelling and swearing at me. I told him I wouldn't do business with this company and he laughed and hung up. That's the last $35 that Home Depot will ever get from me again. Also, it is impossible to reach their corporate offices to complain. When a lady called a few days later to ask if I was going to follow through with my purchase I told her what happened and she was apologetic and promised she would get back with the information. I must say that not only being an employee but a customer they show great pride in making sure that the aisle are clutter free, the shelves are clean, and that the displays are neatly laid out. The pro app is a great app way to pair with finding items and seeing what's in stock. They are continually adding new items like the Scrub Daddy as seen on shark tank. They have clearance items on the back of aisle 7 and oops paint can be found as well. Customers even have the option to do a BOPIS, buy online pick up in store option for non shelved or online only products. I think that they take great pride in serving the largest service area and make it a great way for them to get a good 10%, but just know it may not apply to some select items. So come on in learn a cool project do it herself workspace every 3rd Thurs of the month and Kid's workshops the 1st Sat of each month. read more

I rented a Penske truck from this Home Depot. I came up from Florida to visit my daughter and help her move into their new home. I thought we could trust Home Depot but we go out to eat at IHOP that sits in front of the store come back out, and the battery was dead on the truck, I thought no biggie will go inside and they'll take care of us for two ladies behind the counter were viciously rude and I requested a manager the manager walks over with an attitude bigger than theirs and told us to go to Penske. Meanwhile, we haven't even left the parking lot yet, or I couldn't believe the lack of professionalism as if I have annoyed them by asking for a jump, or asking for any service that would help us to continue our day. One star is way too many. I am disgusted with how Home Depot handles issues such as this. read more

Why don't I come to this Home Depot more often? It's probably closer than the one on VIrginia Beach Boulevard and definitely closer than Lowe's. My search was specific. My sister's friend recommended a lightweight blower that I can easily use on my deck every day. How much better that sounded than the heavy blower and big orange extension cord. The parking was excellent with numerous handicap spaces near the entrance door. The feel of the parking lot was more spacious than similar stores. Entering, I saw the garden area to the far left. But very well placed signs indicated that my purchase choice was steps away. It was amazing. At other locations, and similar chains, finding employee assistance entails walking the aisles, then being given the impression that you are interfering with their day. As I headed down the correct aisle, I heard a voice behind me asking if I needed help. I began "I'm looking for..." Then immediately saw the product, ending the sentence with "....there it is." My helper let me hold the blowers in order to choose the lightest in weight. Then he put my choice in the shopping cart. I decided to follow through on my sister's friend's other suggestion: a battery powered weeder of the same brand. Hopefully soon I'll be able to accomplish this task without the fear of falling. An added addition to my shopping cart were two wrought iron plant stands for my ever growing deck herb garden. Time to go!! I was welcomed to a check-out counter by a friendly sales associate. She offered something I would normally decline: a Home Depot credit card that would reduce my purchase by $50. Knowing that I still had much work to be done, bringing every aspect of my mid-80's home to the 21st century, I agreed. The process was simple and quick. The credit line was more than adequate. And the $50 credit to my purchase was fabulous. As I exited I heard the sales associate tell a fellow employee with excitement "I just got my first credit card." Sometimes at the big boxes you don't know what your going to get. This is especially true of this place on busy weekends. On this mid week, mid morning visit to The Home Depot they were hitting on all cylinders and I was loving it! The parking lot and outside area was for the most part free from debris. The outside display area of mowers etc. looked appealing to customers. So inside I go, not knowing what to expect, but hoping for the best. A greeter was right at the door saying "Welcome to the Home Depot". Now that is nice and unexpected. I did not need much, but when you need light bulbs I come here, they have them all and it makes it easy for one stop shopping. Indeed they had what I needed. No one approached me to ask if they could help, but I was not in the area long either. A short look around and it appeared to me well organized and free from trash on the floor. As I waltzed up to the check out a cashier stepped out to greet me at the self serve area and said "hello". She would have been able to assist me with any questions if they came up on self checkout. I did not have any issues and the transaction was smooth. As I began to walk out she said "have a good day" Can you really ask for more? Again, it was a slow time, so I am holding back on my rating and not going overboard. I have been to this store on weekends and the reviews would not have been as bright, but still respectable. I've never had a bad experience at Home Depot. The service is always friendly and very helpful. My recent visit I needed to get things started on some home projects I've been meaning to tackle. It was very easy to get pointed in the right direction. First project was to paint my front door. I wanted to add some character to my house. There were so many options to choose from, but the associate was patient and helped me select the proper base I needed for my project. It turned out very well. Next I needed to replace the door at the back of the house. My current door has a wood frame and I wanted to go with a vinyl frame so I wouldn't have to deal with any future dry rot due to excess moisture. My only complaint is that they do not carry any doors with vinyl frames in stock. If you purchase one, it must be a custom order. This made the door cost almost double what the wood frame doors are priced. Since this isn't a small task, I opted to pay for installation. It wasn't cheap, but I was willing to have the convenience of having it professionally installed quickly. Both doors and the inside frame (6ft W x 7ft H) comes out all in one piece. The last project was fixing one of the toilets that would occasionally run. I spoke to an associate and they let me know what the issue could be and explain how the repair would go. They do a good job of reassuring your plan or getting you started on the right path. I really like Home Depot and will continue to shop there for my home projects and repairs. read more

I am not sure if the employees in this store were just collectively having a bad day or if they are always so rude. I am doing a small DIY project repainting a dresser a black. I wanted to use spray primer but unfortunately they were out of black primer. I wasn't sure if the light gray would mean more painting work for me so I figured I would pop over to the associate behind the paint counter and ask. I politely asked if I could ask him a quick question and he said he was helping someone and would come find me after. He then motioned the counter and rudely said if there were people at the counter he was busy and I should come back. He was opening paint cans about to mix them. My question could be answered in less time it took him to open one can. As I stood there kind of just staring at him unsure how I should respond, he finally asked me what my question was. I asked my 10 second question. He responded with a 3 second ' it will be fine' and I was out of his hair. He probably should have tried to ascertain what I needed him for before acting like a douche. read more

I went to rent a piece of equipment and had to use 2 different cards and had multiple holds on my account and still couldn't get the equipment due to the lack of care and customer service in the rentals department. Never had this issue at any other location. Never again. read more

My contractor went to pick up my $1000 tile order and he was told that he could not pick it up because of some kids workshop in the storage area & they couldn't endanger children to get our orders WHYYYYY would you have a kids workshop in area where you have CUSTOMER ITEMS?????? I was told all Home Depots have these every week which is fine but put them in a classroom NOT somewhere that you would have to endanger them to get items customers have PAID FOR. I have never written a review nor have I ever asked to speak with a manager & I even apologized to the associate for being a Karen but this is a $1000 order I'm trying to have picked up & I'm paying $75 an hour for these men to sit around & WAIT for 2 hours before they can even get the materials. read more

Went to the outdoor floral department, searching for some larger potted plants. Most had no prices listed, except on small unreadable stickers on the pots. I asked a C/S girl, who could only bend down and read the prices to me. I then went looking for lawn chairs, the same situation! No listed prices on stacks of chairs by the main entrance. I asked another C/S rep, who said she could "scan them" and tell me the prices. Is this a retail operation? Do customers have to guess the prices? Do we need to get on our hands and knees to read a price? I left and went to competition, who had prices clearly marked on every item or on sign posts. read more

I've never had a bad experience in Home Depot. Actually it's one of the stores that my husband and BOTH enjoy going to together lol. We can spend hours in here if we could. My husband loves to get charcoal for the grill here. We also came in to replace some of our blinds in our living room. We've never had to replace them before so we were kinda lost when it came to finding exactly which ones we needed. We brought one of the blinds in with us to help us figure out the size. One of the representatives came over to us and helped us pick out what we needed and told us how to use the cordless blinds. She was super nice! Check out was quick and easy. We will most certainly be back. We love this store more than the competitors. read more

I ordered a GE w/d on 11/2, with an original delivery/installation date of 11/9. Yet Home Depot CANCELLED this order two days later without any emails, calls, or reason. However, they sent a refund for the product warranty that they charged me on 11/18. Fast forward to 11/9, and I went in store to order the same W/D that they had previously canceled (after they finally refunded my card $1620. It took them a week and some phone calls to do so). The delivery date was supposed to be on 11/14 but I got an automated call on 11/12 saying there was an warehouse issue and my order had been pushed back to 11/19. Two days before the rescheduled date I got another automated call from Home Depot telling me that they had pushed back the order delivery to 11/21 because the items hadn't gotten to the warehouse. On 11/19 I received yet another automated call from Home Depot telling me yet again my order has been pushed back. This time to 11/26. I have called customer service, asked to speak to managers and they told me they couldn't help me because it was an "warehouse" issue. I only ordered from them and not Lowes because they said that they had the W/D in stock. I wish that I had stuck with Lowes. #BuyerBeware read more

Came in looking to change weed whacker bumper knob and fuel line. I needed muscle power to remove the screw because bumper broke completely. Sheryl Allen aka PeekaBoo assisted me! I luckily had weed whacker in car. She was able to loosen the screw through the parts department. She assisted me with the remaining parts I needed to change fuel line. I went home, changed fuel line and bumper knob. Whacker still wouldn't start. I was not able to remove spark plug so, back I went. Sheryl assisted me again! Parts Dept. assisted in removing spark plug, testing w/ a new SP to determine my carburetor needed to be cleaned... So, while I ended up buying a new weed whacker...Service was OUTSTANDING! read more

Although I live less than 3 miles from the Home Depot on Military Highway, I refuse to shop here any longer. I've given this location multiple chances at differ times of the year just to see if they were having an off day. I have realized that it doesn't matter what time of day or what time of year you visit this location, the customer service is non existent!! I've attempted to ask several employees for help during multiple visits and get the same consistent rude responses from the staff!! So, now I drive 12 miles out of my way to avoid shopping here! I love the Home Depot. I just always have. I find it very cathartic going through the aisles discovering things and planning on ideas for decor. I also love the garden center. I kid not when I say I spent about two hours in this Home Depot looking at various potted plants, herbs, veggies, window boxes. Ok it might have also been because I didn't know what I was looking for entirely but nonetheless it feels like home in here. Only sad part was that the employees don't know much. I asked three different employees about gardening tips and how to hang a window box off a balcony railing and no one was able to help so it took my husband and my brain to figure it out on our own. We went in for plumbing peieces due to a leaking sink. Searched and searched for a peice to match what we brought in with us. Could not for the life of us find it. Husband went to have some one called and that did take a while so was getting frustrated, however....when Rebecca came, she looked at out items took us to a completely different row, find what we needed in no time. Shared some tips with us as well. I was ahmazed at how on point Rebecca was. She also helped another person too, found his request in a matter of seconds as well. Went to the applicance section just to browse sonce we know its a matter of time we need to replace items. Did not catch her name but another lady was quick to pop up and see what we needed help with. She knew we were just "dreaming" but still stuck around to give us some notes and the different ones we were looking at. read more
