It started out with a leaky toilet and ended with a total bathroom update. Home Depot was where we ended up finding a lot of what we needed. And the items we had to order came in pretty quickly and in good shape. Seem to have a mix of employees who know what they're doing and know all their stuff and some you're better off with trial and error picking your own supplies. Some are new, so hopefully that learning curve won't be too bad because they seem like nice enough guys. Not that they didn't want to help, just didn't have the experience yet. Not the easiest location to get into and out of during heavy traffic times, but the location is conveniently, centrally located to serve a lot of people, and parking lot itself is good. I purchased a washer/dryer combo and once installed it did not operate properly. The washer would not work unless the dryer was on and the dryer did not dry the clothes (no heat). I have talked to their customer service to no avail. All they do is lie (saying they will be there to pick up the appliance, then not show) and waste my time. I have never in my life had such a horrible experience with a company. I will NEVER, EVER shop or step foot in Home Depot again. They have no integrity at all. I wouldn't take anything from them even if they gave it to me. No wonder this company is going downhill. Their customer service staff is the worst on the planet. Hope they get treated the same way they have treated me when they need something. BTW it was a GE appliance and will not buy GE anymore either. What a nightmare I wish it were all over, but they still haven't picked up the appliance, and I have been trying to get it out of my house for the past 19 days, that is if they don't lie to me again (something CS is good at) it should be gone on the 29th of January, 2026, but I don't think my nightmare will be over then. Since the 17th of January 2026, I have spoken with Brittany, Chace, Ron, George, Amanda, Dorie, Alex, Cassie, Kamesha and Sarah, and none of these associates could help me. I ordered a lot of soil and it came on a crate. I had specifically written a not for it to be brought to the back patio, where I need the soil for my garden. They use a 3rd party delivery company, and the communication between Home Depot, the delivery company and the buyer (me) is pretty barely interact with each other. The delivery company left A LOT of soil on a crate out front. About 2/3 of the crate is in the street. Totally unacceptable. I was on the phone with their so-called customer service for almost 2 hours. I finally was given the actual store's phone number. While I was using the 1-800 customer service for Home Depot, I would explain the situation for 15-20 minutes, get put on hold, and got a completely different person who didn't know the situation, and I would have to repeat what I had told the original customer service person. Or, I would call, get a customer service person who would put me on hold, and after a few minutes, I would be no longer connected to that call. I finally got to an actual store, and I was told they would try to come back and move the crate out of the street. But that didn't happen, which I assumed wouldn't happen. so my soil is just hanging out in the street. I don't ever want to buy from them again. read more

Nancy in the door department was so friendly and efficient. I came to buy and front door and storm door. I had already had someone come out and measure the door. Thankfully it wasn't too busy. She was so patient with us in making our decision. She gave us advice on what door had better insulation. Will definitely be back. read more

Updating the front yard a bit. We had great help. Shalita helped us tremendously with the brick choices that we wanted. The one advertised on a sign in the brick area weren't in store and the sign said available online and we checked and it wasn't there either so we chose another brick. Bummed out about that. Anna was nice and helpful as well she came and loaded the bricks we finally chose and Tyler assisted her. She also came out and helped Dre load bricks on the truck. Tyler helped put the bricks on the pallet along with Anna. He also helped me find plant food, seeds, and planters for my little/big garden. He was a real joy and I enjoyed our conversation. He was a real pleasure. Dre came and helped us get the mulch and soil that we wanted and he helped us load the truck with the purchase. Got all loaded up and didn't get the shovel to dig up the current small shrubbery that Kese hates. Lmao. So back inside we went. I'm excited and scared at the same time. 3.17 Thank god for Home Depot and their stick person for having the paint I needed desperately in-stock and right there for me cus my entire project was about to be trashed. I am beyond discussed right now. I order a samsung refrigerator back on January 26th with hopes of getting it that following weekend. I knew it was a long shot, but I requested it any way. I was given a stern, " We can't do it that so soon. Itll have to be 2-weeks out, February 5th." Ok, I accept. Then I was called that Wednesday evening, "We have to reschedule to the 16th." Now I'm highly upset because I scheduled around this date. And the reason they game me was, because the driver was late. I ask, he'll send me another driver. They replied, it doesn't work like this. Long story short, i offer to pick the thing up myself. I'll hire 2-men and a truck if I had to. This fell on deaf ears. I have a lot more to say about this particular call, I was on the phone for an hour trying trying to keep this date. No luck. I call this morning, the 15th, to confirm the 16th, because once again, I scheduled around this date. And once again, they rescheduled me to the 22nd due to weather. At this point, I just hung up the phone and wrote this review. It takes a lot to get under my skin, but this just piss poor service. I don't know what else to say. read more

This is a really solid location. They feel a little smaller than some of the other locations in greater Birmingham, but they have a great selection and friendly staff. Just like any Home Depot they have a variety of seasonal things when you first come in through the main entrance to your left. Also, keep in mind that when the season/holiday is over they immediately start to discount items. The discount goes deeper and deeper until it's all gone. They have everything you would expect from a Hope Depot. They have all of the outdoor power tools (mowers, blowers, trimmers, post diggers, etc) to go along with any of the indoor or outdoor tools you could possible need. They have just about anything you could think of for household including appliances, doors, windows, rugs, paints and anything you could need to do a project. If you're like me, an amateur DIYer you probably do things like me. Do a little YouTube research. Make a few modifications to what 'the experts' have told you and then head out to Home Depot. Then their expert sets you straight and shows you how to do it with all the things you need to get it done. (If you're like me....by extras and keep the receipt). I tend to make mistakes and really hate going back to get one 2" coupling* (*insert any part you can think of and I've probably had to go back and replace it). Great location in Pelham and services so many people that would have a pretty good commute to get to another hardware store. Friendly knowledgeable staff and good selection. Good sale prices too! I didn't want a refund just exchange . They wouldn't allow an exchange without a receipt. $25 light. Buyer beware. Must have a receipt to exchange items. Terrible business. So honey wanted the yard updated a little bit, nothing too fancy, but we obviously need assistance. It was a bit late when we decided to go, but everyone we encounter was extremely pleasant and eager to assist! Shalisha, the cashier was a huge help as we were pretty lost on what bricks to purchase. Anna and Dre were great with assistance with loading our items on the truck, even down to loading the truck strategically with should be common sense logic (putting the heaviest objects closes to the back of the truck bed), because I think I would have tossed it all on the truck with no regards. Tyler was great with Jenn as he assisted her with picking out the best pots for her new found hobby of on-porch gardening! Mary was great in good ideas for seed planting! Yesterday my husband and I went to your store there in Pelham. We were looking for 6ft corrugated galvanized roofing panels which you have on your website. We looked in the back but we only found 8ft. We looked for help but no one was eager to help us, finally we found someone who would talk to us and he said the store did not have them in stock. He did not ask if he could order for us, he just said we could go online to order or try Marvin's in Calera. Which by the way they do not carry. Today I called your store and was passed around for over 20 minutes. Finally a woman answered and I told her what I needed and she said, that is a special order, let me find someone to help you. No one ever picked up. What a horrible bunch of employees you have there. All I want is to order something that you have on your website. I tried to order in your website but it is not in stock so that is why I need someone's help. As far as big box home improvement stores go this is one of 2 that I frequent. There are a number of individual employees that warrant recognition for my rating not necessarily the chain. In recent years the caliber of employee has dramatically improved at this location. I've lived in the same home for 12 yrs so I've made more than my fair share of trips to The Home Depot. I have had questions on everything from mulch to plumbing to electrical and everything in between. This store in particular employs a number of remarkable employees. I've even felt compelled to get an individual's name and call store management to brag on one guy in cabinets. He went out his department voluntarily and helped me with flooring. He didn't hide from me when he saw me reading labels, He approached me and was very knowledgeable about products and installation. I've been fortunate enough to find the same level of service in doors and other various departments in this store. The store itself is the same Home Depot found virtually anywhere USA. The parking lot is almost always full and there are going to be some complaints. Likely me at any given time depending on the day/ frustration level with varied home projects. My last half a dozen or more trips to this store have been exemplary and warrant recognition. Look through the adds or search online. This place often has the lowest price in town. One of my more recent purchase includes a ton of Scott's mulch for $2.00 a bag. You won't beat that deal anywhere..... Unless you have a dump trailer and can buy by the scoop at the local landscape supply. read more

Had to rent a hardwood floor staple gun this morning. I've rented tools a number of times from HD. I'm giving a generous 3 stars because while HD had exactly what I needed and I got in & out pretty quickly, the rental associate was neither friendly nor helpful. Answered all of my questions with, "I don't know" and while the rental associates should be in a position to offer advice & guidance on the tools for rent (i.e. how many boxes of staples should I buy for a particular size floor, or what size are typically used), I had to just take a guess. I don't expect to talk to a hardwood floor expert, but a little guidance, maybe a willingness to hunt down someone else more knowledgeable, or at least a pleasant smile and a "good morning" would be nice. I do love HD & am a regular customer, but c'mon guys, with the economy in the tank and a surplus of folks looking for work, finding people with a good attitude & friendly disposition ought not to be that difficult. To be fair, I should also say that I had to pick up some other supplies. I found another associate who was very helpful and took me to exactly what I needed. read more

I noticed this HD has had some poor reviews. I have to say I have never had to rent equipment nor have I purchased any large appliances. However I have been in this HD dozens and dozens of times. Hand tools, paint, plants, nuts and bolts etc. I have never had a poor experience. Without a doubt, the worst home supply store. Poorly kept and poorly run. Have purchased a number of items here over the last five years. Every purchase has been regrettable. They do not stand behind their products and the managers never bother to speak to you. The products they sell break, die or never run. The manufacturers of the products do not honor warranties. Cannot think of a single reason to shop here. Have never found a single associate who was friendly. The best ones were simply disinterested. Update: My latest visit was a different experience. Found one employee who was nice and two who were helpful. Things are looking up. New blood perhaps? Want to recognize Erica and Brian for being both helpful and proactive. Only gave this Home Depot a 1 star because no stars isn't an option. Worst Home Depot store I have ever been in! The store itself is a cluttered up mess. Most of the isles are partially blocked so only one person can fit down the isle at a time. The appliance department is so cluttered its like a maze. The employees are rude and the store manager Carl Free is an unreasonable jerk. Despite the fact the multiple Home Depot associates told me multiple times I could return a defective washing machine he refused to take it back. (This is a 3 month long story so I won't bore you will all the details.) The store manager at Inverness even called Carl and asked him to honor what I had been told by multiple Home Depot employees and he still refused. If you must shop at a Home Depot go to Inverness. The store is clean and organized and the associates are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I had to cancel a $4,750 appliance order because of the dishonesty and lack of integrity at the Pelham store. I have been a Home Depot customer for more than ten years and have spent roughly $50,000 in the past 5 to 6 years in Home Depot. I have never been treated this way at any other store. It's unfortunate that based on this experience I will not shop at any of their stores again. read more
