I had almost polar opposite experiences from the other reviewers of this particular Home Depot. I almost come to expect bad or non-existing customer service in the Valley so the employees at this location really surprised me. Long story short: I was doing a multitude of repairs/remodeling in my house in Texas and came to this Home Depot over the Christmas break at least 5 times in the week and a half that I was in McAllen. There was a young lady in particular that worked in the flooring department that answered every dumb question I had and was patient with showing me color suggestions for tiles and tile materials. I hate that I forgot her name (maybe early 20s, short, short hair) but she was so nice and helpful during a process that, for me, is stressful and not enjoyable. Other employees were also very helpful. I also had to buy kitchen countertops while I was in Tucson for pickup at this Home Depot location, and Ruben at the Pro-Desk was so helpful at suggesting material that was in their inventory (because the countertops I originally wanted were non-existent at this location). Better yet, he followed up with me when he had promised to. I am doing research and planning for my wedding in McAllen, and people in the Valley do not follow up when they say they will (wtf?) yet the folks at this home depot keep it uber professional. It really is true that Lowe's is marketed to women while Home Depot targets men. My mom and I went to both Lowe's and both Home Depots in search of a spare freezer last weekend. Here's how they racked up: Both Lowe's were cooler, cleaner and tidier than either Home Depot. Someone came to help us immediately at both Lowe's, but it took over 20 minutes at one HD and tracking someone down at the other to get any attention. The selection was slightly better at Lowe's and they had more in stock for next-day delivery. Both Lowe's attendants seemed more knowledgeable and confident than those at HD. To be fair, they both had almost identical products and very similar maintenance services. They both have south and north locations, but since we're having to focus on minute details, Lowe's offered a generally more pleasant experience. read more

Walked in looking for a product passed a dozen sales associates who never asked if I needed help. Decided I better ask. Asked 3 reps who all gave me vague directions: all different. I could not find what I was looking for even though I was told they had it. Walked out feeling disappointed. read more

I rarely have a good experience when I go to home depot in pharr. The employees down to the management need to be retrained in giving a great customer experiance. For that reason I go to Lowe's. read more

Rick at the pro desk took 1 hour to charge a little over $600 dollars. He couldn't figure out how to charge and instead of asking for help or the supervisor he had me waiting for over 45minutes until Brenda was able to jump in and take over. The other employees were busy with customers so I don't blame them, but Rick could have called for help. To top things off we couldn't even get the delivery scheduled for less than 3weeks from the purchase date. I am so dissatisfied with Home Depot after this purchase. read more

Wow, terrible experience at the home depot in Pharr. Usually just bad customer service, but, today a red headed old lady at the self checkout asked to check my backpack for stolen merchandise. She then broke the zipper trying to pull open. Have you ever tried to ride a bike with books in your hands? I spent $50, left extremely offended, walked my bike home, and now need a new backpack. I understand this isnt the typical experience, but, I wouldn't expect much more out of this store if I were you. read more

Worse for ordering appliances. Ordered appliances 2 weeks in advance before my tenets moved in (own apartments) Home Depot gave me a delivery date for a week after. A week later, came to find out order was never processed. Only found out because I called not because they followed up. Re ordered , a week later, called to find out delivery time , comes to show , delivery date is not guaranteed , when they gave me a receipt showing exact time of delivery. This store is pure non sense, need new management or something. Now I have tenants moved in without appliances. Had to credit them 150$ for inconvenience. Home Depot delivery system is out of wack. Now I have order coming in late and some items won't be delivered because they were out of stock. Makes no sense. DO NOT order appliances from this store unless you ok waiting 3-4 weeks. Or having 0 follow ups to atleast give you a heads up that some items aren't in stock. I will not buy from this Home Depot in the future. Will pass this on to friends and family and contractors I do business with. read more
