We had a last minute problem with our flooring renovation. We called to ask for help, and decided to come in to the store. By the time we came in, Jay already knew about our call, even though we hadn't spoken with him directly, and had been researching options to help us solve our issue. Candis helped us get squared away with a new order, and gave us some helpful tips for later renovations. I don't think I've ever been to any store of any kind where I received this level of attention and service, they truly got involved and helped us. About 2 weeks ago we visited the Home Depot store in Kennewick, WA to shop for countertops. The associate told us they didn't have any in stock. We asked if it could be ordered and an associate nearby pointed us around the corner to where samples were displayed. Then both associates disappeared. After deciding online to order a countertop from Home Depot, we went online and found one suiting our needs. We added it to the cart and proceeded (we thought) to order it. We chose pickup rather than delivery assuming the store would order it for us, and if not available would inform us. We were WRONG. Nine days later (two days after the promised delivery) we had not notifications in any manner and no countertops. I called the store and after being on hold for 5 minutes I talked to an associate who was obviously at a counter helping other people, and she could not find my order. Then she said it was still in the cart. Then she said it was out of stock. I said it was listed on the website. She said they don't take it off the website when it is out of stock. Then said, it may be back in stock but I don't know. Obviously, we won't be using Home Depot for any of our remodeling needs!!! read more

I bought a brand new LG kitchen set 18 months ago. I bought a 3 year Refrigerator protection plan. It's almost been two full months I've been waiting for them to fix it or replace it or give me a refund check! I have had three repair men here they have bought parts online and sent them here. Nothing is getting fixed they either don't have the tools or the training to fix this new refrigerator and one of them broke a piece off the back of the compressor he was the one who ordered the compressor. We are having repair guy number for come on Monday, August 9! We like taking the Duportail Bridge to Home Depot as soon as it opened up. What a more convenient way to get there than over the highway to Queensgate! Being that it opens at 6am is a huge plus for us. We are early birds and shockingly enough, we see others there waiting for the store to open a bit before 6am as well. Lowe's products, for some odd reason, don't seem to work out for us. We'd pick something up in town and have to go all the way back to return it. Whereas Home Depot is much closer and the products work out really well. And on the off-chance that we'd need to return it, it's a close destination. The kids like seeing the large, inflatable and lit Christmas decorations and life sized Santa Claus toys. read more

In the past no issues, but after today will never purchase another appliance for delivery. The store gave the delivery vender the wrong delivery address. The vendor could of called to get correct address. instead towards end of day I recieved a text that the dishwasher could not be delivered and to reschedule. Normally a great store but on this visit some ahole walked by me on what im guessing was his way to the bathroom and then on the way back he puts his wet hands on my back while I'm leaning looking at lumber and asks if I need help, my wife's eyes looked like they were going to pop out of her head. First of all DON'T put your hands on me Your wet hands!!! Sunny was written on his apron but I think KoolAid Man is more appropriate for this guy. The only nice thing about the flooring experience I had with them was the vinyl planking we picked. Customer service was terrible! They charge you up front and then hide all kinds of hidden expenses. Was told they would level our floor prior to install and then find out that it's gonna be an extra $900. They made us do an asbestos test which was $370, and ran out of the vinyl they supposedly measured and told us we needed to pick up another $120 worth of vinyl planking. They also delivered my vinyl soaked and the boxes were all water damaged. They have horrible communication with HOM solutions who they contract for install. I should have listened to people who warned me not to go through them. The worst is you can never talk to the same person when you call for help and they basically just blow you off. I will tell everyone I know to not do business with them. read more

Purchased a Kitchen sink kit. I forgot to ask for the veterans discount having served during the Vietnam War era. Went to customer service and the associate said it could not be changed because I didn't mention at the time of the order. I said, kidding around, I can always get it a lowes. THE SITUATION: I was super tired after a graveyard. My new bed was just delivered (forcing me to stay awake for the delivery). Movers noticed I didn't have support under the center of my bed frame. So, a little project was required. THE PLAYERS: A Sleepy Senor Sleepington & The Home Depot THE SOLUTION: I had to buy some lumber. Nothing complicated, but I needed to buy some extra flats and supports for the new mattress I was lusting to sleep on--PRONTO. I took measurements and was ready to make this little job go fast. I just hoped I wouldn't have to buy a saw (cuz I'd probably only use it for this one job, and then probably only end up "playing the saw" in my soon-to-exist redneck band). After picking out my lumber, I saw a Cutting Station: YES! So, a saw wasn't purchased and within 5-min I had many pieces of wood ready to go! PROBLEM SOLVED! (I was slyly sleepily snoring in no time!) NOTE TO THE DUMB (i.e. me): Buy the cedar! A 10' piece was $10. I saw the maple listed at $2, and thought, "maple it is"! It wasn't until the wood was cut and I was rung up when I got the $50 surprise! Yeah, the $2 pricetag was by the foot!! D'oh. This is why I shouldn't make hardware store trips! It's a nice fresh home depot. I generally have pretty good luck finding what I need, and getting help when I need it. We recently moved, and seem to have a whole bunch of projects underway at any given time anyway, so I spend a lot of time at home depot. I like to research online before going to the store, and the home depot website is also pretty easy to navigate. I've had good luck with them having items in store that the website says are there, so that is a bonus in my mind. read more

Last May I purchased a Karavan utility trailer from this store. As it is a vehicle, it must be registered with the State, and Home Depot sent in the necessary paperwork. I was told that a plate would be mailed to me after a few weeks. Several months went by and still no plate (I was out of town for an extended period). I called the State licensing office, which referred me to Tri-City Licensing. I contacted them and they said the plate had been mailed to the West Richland store back in JUNE! I have been trying to get this store to do something about the missing plate for over FOUR MONTHS and I keep getting stonewalled. I left numerous telephone messages with the store manager that were not returned. Well, I FINALLY got thru to the manager who made it clear that they could do nothing about the missing plate, and that I would have to do this ON MY OWN and AT MY EXPENSE! The people at the store just keep passing the buck on to someone else. That said, I do like the trailer very much, it is well-built and suits my needs exactly. I use it to transport my golf cart to and from Canyon Lakes Golf Course, as well as other odd jobs. UPDATE: Besides posting this review, I posted a complaint on the Better Business Bureau. Well, after posting the complaint over the weekend I got a call from Nancy from the Home Depot first thing Monday morning! She was very concerned about how I had been treated and the issue was resolved to my satisfaction by the next day! So, if you are getting the runaround from the local store people just threaten to post a complaint at BBB.org and warn them that they will have to deal with corporate in short order. Ok, so maybe he didn't do the backflip but he rocked those keys and helped me while helping other customers simultaneously. So we roll into Home Depot to purchase some paving sand and gravel in some heavy bags. On check we asked for some assistance to load into our pick up. They send out a kid named Jack who couldn't have had a worse attitude. I went to get the truck and drive past my wife and "Jack" to park about 100ft past them. Do you think the big oaf would offer to push the flat bed cart for my wife? No, he was much to good for that. He didn't say one word to my wife other than grunts in response to my wife. He certainly did not want to be there and we won't be back because of him. Home Depot, you have some serious gaps in your customer service that needs addressing asap. His work performance is poor, is it a reflection of your culture and values? I wonder. read more

Normally consistent good service at check out. But major attitude at the paint section. The guy working there was pissed off at someone. He wasn't talking to his co workers, he wasn't talking to customers, he was just putting orders aside, not communicating what they were. In fact, my paint was ready to go and after waiting 10 minutes I asked an associate for help and she looked around, found my paint and apologized that I had been standing there and her coworker didn't give it to me. I'd love to continue providing business to this store, but great service is a hit or miss. When it's good, it's "average" and when it's bad, it's bad. For plants, lumber, plumbing, most tools and home projects, this is the spot, for those items and steller service, look elsewhere. read more

Bought a toilet at the Kennewick store, took it home and it had a chip in the porcelain, tried to exchange it there, was told they had none in stock, but that the Richland store had 4, drove all the way to Richland only to find out that because the toilet is a different price between stores, they won't exchange, even with receipt! So this is my second favorite store in the TriCities - right after Yoke's Fresh Market (of West Richland). My most recent experience regarded getting some lumber to make some signs... I go into HD about 15 minutes to closing - I have my list - knowing exactly what I want. I pick up everything, including three plywood planks. Then I head to the Cutting Department - success - there's a HD Associate helping another patron. I wait my turn, then we head to the cutting station. The Associate patiently gets my wood cut to the exact specs - and while doing so, we engage in conversation - regarding personal safety (the benefits of safety glasses) - and he tells me a story about living in Wyoming and an experience where he assisted a neighbor while living in a small town (pop 221 as I recall) - at any rate, the Associate, whose name is Fonzi (yes, like Happy Days!) tells me about how he employed his EMT / first aide experience to help a man recover and get four fingers from his hand restored after removing them in a sawing accident. He is telling these relatable stories while professionally cutting this wood. I like this guy! Tried to give him a tip, but you're not suppose to do that - so I am writing this review instead. Some other reasons to like Home Depot in Richland, WA: 1. The garden center staff are amazing - there is a woman that's been there in the summers for a few years - Carol - really knowledgeable plus personable. 2. The staff in general have been consistently helpful - always willing to help / go the extra mile to ensure that I get exactly what I am looking for to complete a project. 3. The prices are reasonable, in particular on plants and solar landscaping lamps. 4. Selection is large (something like 400 million items - slight exaggeration). 5. I really like the Garden Center - in particular, in the Spring -- so much to choose from and the prices are reasonable. 6. The availability of the 1.5 ton cargo truck - I've used this a few times to haul 8000+ pounds of landscaping materials... nice! 7. The Staff know their departments - and can offer alternative design / materials / thoughts in the context of my projects. 8. I have not experienced long checkout lines - staff are quick to open new registers. 9. The ease of making returns. 10. They must have a good interview / screening process because the staff are really on top of their game in terms of customer service (yeah, I mentioned this earlier, but HD really excels in this area). In short, I really enjoy the HD shopping experience. And I would like to mention Fonzi from the Lumber Department in particular - he is a wonderful human being. I would hope that management makes an effort to offer personal congratulations to this person for his outstanding customer service. The worst Home Depot that I have ever been to. DO NOT buy appliances from them!!! My 73 year old mother bought a new washing machine from this company. It was "professionally" installed by Crown Moving Company and has leaked ever since. We have been going round and round with this company for a week and they have not even submitted a claim for the washer to be fixed! Shame on this company for doing this to the elderly. Let's start with how much I have spent in this store since it opened, I have basically remodeled my house, inside & out. Translation...A LOT. Went in to buy a pallet of flooring last night. I have never had such a run around. It's at customer service, no it's at the pro desk. Nope, why don't you (me, the customer) walk around and look for it while I stand here and talk to my friends. Eventually she wrapped up the conversation with her friends, and decided to help look for it, really put her out to walk down to customer service, she was so tired from the short walk that she sat down and told the other gal to help me. Approx. a 2-hour ordeal from start to finish. Long story short, customer service at Richland Home Depot needs a major overhaul in every department. I went in this morning to get a 5/8 sheetrock and i got a cart that was outside and when i went in a home depot employee took the cart away from me and said he was just about to get that one for another customer that needed to get two peaces of siding strips and told me i can wait for a next one available. I got so mad but was in such a rush i just went to grab my sheet rock and carried it on my back and didn't want to be waisting time arguing with him. Defenetly bad service. I would agree that the overall customer service at this store is outstanding. In the past few months employees here have helped me switch out the plug on my clothes dryer, and yesterday they helped me remove my license plate which was rusted onto my car. When replacing the dryer plug they arranged the parts and let me snap a picture so I could do it at home. They are always very gracious and helpful! read more

Okay, the "rest of the story", after a flurry of e-mails this morning from Home Depot Corporate and a call from the local store manager I went back and chatted with them. Their plan is to speak to their contractor installers about a couple of things and would look at some customer service aspects and refunded the permit fee (45.00). The bottom line was I didn't like the change in price and being manipulated into thinking I had no options (sort of like politics- no options). All is "fixed" and when we start the bathroom project we'll get the stuff at Depot. This time though I am doing the project, no installers next time. read more

Nick the flooring installer did an amazing job! I purchased 5" laminate wood planks when HD was having an installation special. I also needed some tile and backer board removed and wanted baseboard mouldings re-installed (I removed the baseboards along with the carpet myself). Nick came out to do a pre-install site inspection and was very thorough in explaining additional prep work that would be necessary before he installed the laminate flooring (he gave me the option of doing work myself or having him do it). He also noticed that my floor was uneven due to an improperly supported wall, which required pier supports and shims to be installed. He talked me through everything I would need to do to correct that situation. During the installation, he explained things as he went and provided as much detail as I wanted without treating me like a "dumb woman" who doesn't know anything about construction. Nick's craftsmanship is impeccable! When transitioning from the hallway to the bedroom, where the flooring was running two different directions, he made sure the planks lined up perfectly so it looks like a beautiful inlaid floor. I wouldn't have thought to ensure it looked so perfect. Nick pays extraordinary attention to detail and is very careful in his work. But he's also quick and finished the project earlier than scheduled. I highly recommend Nick for any flooring project!! read more
