I wanted a specific rodent repellent Home Depot carries for work. Turns out all the St. Louis County stores said something like limited inventory but the Kingshighway store said 46. This location was packed last week for the end of April... but they had beautiful flowers and a wide assortment of mulch. I prefer to go to the smaller floral shops for actual plants, but I needed to come here for peat moss that they didn't carry elsewhere. Although it was busy the self check out went relatively quick. It's been 7 years since my last update of this Home Depot and I need to remove a star from their rating. The customer service here has dropped considerably. When you need service, you have to track down an associate. When you find one it will be a 50 to 50 chance that they'll be able to answer your question. I recently visited while I was prepping my STL house for sale. My handyman sent me to get a part for my outside faucet. Knowing I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, he sent me with the old piece to show the clerks, what I needed. I went straight to the plumbing area and there were three associates assisting one customer. I politely waited my turn and when I showed one associate the piece I had been sent with, he quickly told me they didn't carry it. In shock, I responded, "really?". He then asked his co-worker and he too, said they didn't have it. I asked them, if I should go to Lowe's and they said, yes. I went to Lowe's and the associate informed me they did not have that piece individually, but I could get it by buying the complete kit. No problem, I need the piece, so give it to me. If the clerks at HD thought out of the box, they could have had a larger sale. The complete kit was only $12, which is nothing when you're prepping a house for sale. I'll admit, I went back two more times since that visit, but I found what I needed by myself and I even used the self check-out which I never do. Those two times, the service was amazing. I'm a fan of this location. The layout is good, very much the same as most other locations. The store seemed well-organized and clean. Everyone was wearing masks (a covid visit), which is a plus. I'm happy they get their gardening stuff out early. It's the beginning of February and I was able to buy some bulbs for the upcoming spring. The employee I interacted with was super nice and helpful. I still, unfortunately, have not found a good replacement. So I guess they'll continue to give me bad service. Messed up yet another order. Nobody cares. Was told my order was ready for pick-up. It was not. Had to wait 20 minutes for items I was told were ready (and not lumber, etc. these were normal, baggable items that were in stock). Had a couple special order items that were supposed to be in and no one could tell me where they were or how long until they came in. Came back several days later, after checking the order status online. The shipment tracking claims it was delivered 5 days ago, a day before my last visit. And still they can't tell me where it is or how ling until I have it. And they can't even cancel the order until it arrives. It is a shame there is not a zero star option. Update - 4/23/24 Customer service responded on yelp, but there's no way for me to use that link on my phone. But they also responded to my tweet. So kudos. But all they said was that they passed it in to the southtown team. Lowe's had the items I was looking for, so Ingot them there. Incidentally I ordered a tuckpointing disk from HD and was only given the option of "scheduled delivery". So I paid the delivery charge. Only to not receive my item. Contacted customer support again asking for a refund of delivery fees, and they said they can't unless I cancel the order. Which I gladly did. This place is probably more like a 2.5 The epitome of "meh" it's convenient if you're close and literally need nothing from any employee. Service here sucks and will leave you frustrated. Curbside pickup will be at minimum a 15 minutes wait. The one bright spot when it comes to service is walk in order pickup. About 70% of the time, walking in to the customer service spot to pick up an order is a smooth process. Literally every other situation where you interact with a human is 0-1 stars. read more

I have hated my refrigerator for years and finally got tired of waiting for it to break down. It's a side by side and I wanted French doors and bigger space. I checked online to see what was the top rated and off we went to explore three different stores to compare prices. Our first destination was Home Depot on October 7th. They had the fridge that I wanted and at a very good price. We talked to a man who said he was "corporate" and if we came back the saleswoman would help us. (I wish I had gotten her name.). He promised us that if we found the same price somewhere else, that they would match it and take 10% off of that. We looked around and then spoke to the woman who said to come back in November because they would have a big sale then. I don't know why she didn't want to take some time with us. We had no intention of waiting that long but off we went to check competitors. We found the same fridge at a different store with the same price but we came back to Home Depot because of the promise the gentleman made. We spoke to the saleswoman, told her what the man said, and she looked at us as if we had just clucked and laid an egg. Of course the man was nowhere to be found. No she would not do what he said. It seemed as if we interrupted her and we were getting in her way. She was busy with other important work. Needless to say, we went back to the competitor and purchased our fridge from them. I was at the South Kingshighway store today and purchased a Murray lawn mower. In that transaction I was greatly helped by Jeff(lawn mower salesman) Maureen (cashier) and Portion (Garden employee). Unfortunately as soon as I had cut a small area of my yard, the mower stopped working. I went back to the store and was helped even more with my next purchase of a Honda lawn mower by a man named Murray. All of the employees with whom I can in contact today were excellent, helpful, customer-oriented, and very professional. The credit was made quickly. I want the supervisors and the management to know what really caring and outstanding people are in their employ. Please congratulate them all for me as each one of the several who helped me was cooperative, pleasant, and a real asset to your company. Don't do business with Home Depot online. I have a copy of the return label they sent me to return my item. They show on their end they received the item back but, because they received it one day before the 90 day window expired they now apparently have no record of a return request so they will not give me money back. The 90 day window ended March 12th they received my item March 11th and can see themselves they received it and still will not give me my money back. Regarding the online order and pick up. There is usually one person handling the line of online order pickups. At least 4 people in line at all times. Every person has an issue where the item cannot just be "picked up". You will wait 30 min to pick up your online order. Their phone is always ringing off the hook. Just have the stuff shipped to you, or better yet, don't order from HD. read more

I didn't think I would ever write a review for Home Depot, but why not? I usually don't go to Home Depot alone because I tend to get overwhelmed and lost since the place is so huge, but this time I had to make the journey alone! I was only going to get a key made, that should be simple enough, right? Wrong. I walked into Home Depot and started walking around looking for the key place. I obviously looked lost because I had at least 2 people ask if I needed help. I did! I asked for the key place. One person directed me to it, but clearly I waled right past it so the next person walked me right to the exact location! Thanks. I would have never found it on my own! I waited about 5 minutes while they were helping another customer and then it was my turn to get my keys made; it all happened so quickly! I was in and out of Home Depot in about 10 minutes. Good timing. If you are ever looking to get your key made it is in the same location as the "tool rental" center! I never knew you could rent tools, but you can! Good to know. This past weekend, my boyfriend and I moved from downtown to the county. We were able to use our SUV for everything! Except our mattress, box spring, and bed frame. We really didn't want to pay for a UHaul so we called Home Depot to rent a pick-up truck. You can do this for an hourly rate (minimum of 75 minutes). Pretty cool, convenient idea! When I called to check if the truck was available, I was told it was out. They took my name & number to call me when it was in. However, the guy warned me that it wasn't a reservation list and if someone else came before I arrived, they'd get the truck. Yikes! An hour later, they called me, and my boyfriend rushed over! When he arrived, they almost didn't give him the truck b/c they were waiting for Allison to arrive! Kinda funny. It was nice to know they were sort of holding it for me after all. This service definitely made our move that much easier (and cheaper!). I've never been in the store but I would definitely go back after this experience! read more

My most frequented hardware store, not because it's my favorite, but it is the closest and usually has everything I need. The employees are friendly and the store is always clean. There's always a person at the entrance to greet you and sometimes ask what you are looking for. The cashiers are friendly, and the store even lets you use competitor coupons. Though I feel like customer service is sometimes a hit or miss. Sometimes there are employees everywhere, and other times you look down 5 aisles and still can't find a single one. Then when you find an employee most of the time they are super informative and know a lot about the section they are responsible for, and other times I feel like I'm getting very vague information (this has only happened to me once or twice). Being a new home owner, I am here at least 2 or 3 times a week. I'm mostly happy with this hardware store and will continue to frequent it. read more

This has been a horrible experience. I decided to order everything for my kitchen and bath remodel from Home Depot. That was my first mistake. The cabinet order was botched - they delivered with 8 cabinets missing. They also did not communicate at all that the order would be a week later than they originally told me. I also tried to order a sink/pedestal combo online because it was not carried in the store. They delivered it broken 3 times. Twice it was delivered to my property and once to the store and it was broken every single time. This is a rental property. The entire remodel is done and I still do not have a sink/pedestal so I can't rent out the unit. After a heated discussion with Kayla in corporate (employee id 51020)who refused to give any sort of compensation or even a gift card for the tremendous hassle I finally said to cancel it and we would get the sink/pedestal elsewhere. For this specific store: hopefully you do not have an issue as wait time to speak with a manager averaged about 30-40 minutes standing in the store. They are also incompetent and dismissive. I asked one associate (a younger guy) where the cabinet handles/knobs were. He looked at me like I was crazy and said "we don't carry those." After wandering around the store I finally found them because of course they carry them. What a rude and dismissive answer. The cabinet guy Chris was no help at all when our order was delayed and cabinets were missing. His solution was to have us call the cabinet manufacturer and/or trucking company that was supposed to make the delivery. I told him specifically that I wanted delivery to the unit since this is a second-floor apartment and of course they just dropped off pallets in front of the house. I had to hire movers to get them into the apartment. What a bad experience. I would definitely recommend NOT using this store or Home Depot. I don't know what a better alternative is but their customer service was terrible. Very disappointed at the way I was treated. read more

Unfortunately, I have to frequent this store on a regular basis due to its proximity of my employer. That being said, I try to avoid it at all costs. Why? Several reasons: It's too crowded. I'm not sure what the deal is here, but the isles and main walkways just seem to be jam-packed with crap. It's dirty. Like......really,really dirty. The parking lot typically looks like a garbage dump. I even wrote their corporate office about it, but not surprisingly, it apparently fell on deaf ears. I guess since it's an "inner city" store, that the cleanliness standards are lower. The location is sketchy to say the least. I'm always super-aware of my surroundings when going into or leaving the place. Lastly- the quality of the staff has a lot to be desired. There are some good employees there, but many of them have a crappy attitude that they wear on their sleeves. In summary- it's a convenient hardware store if you live in the surrounding area, but if you can avoid it- I highly recommend that you go somewhere else. read more

The subcontracted delivery/installers were inept. One of them decided it was a "liability" issue to install the microwave because the plug in was hidden behind a cabinet. I explained to him one had been installed 2 years ago with no issues. The installer then went on this liability diatribe so I assume he was a liability attorney that does installations as a side gig. Will never shop Home Depot again. I made them leave the microwave and I'll have it installed by someone else. I'm sure getting the installation fee and old appliance removal fees will be an enormous hassle. read more

This Home Depot is my go-to. Why? Because it's so darn close. I've made at least 8 key copies here, bought many plants (they die then I need to replace them), and other random items for the home. It's easily accessible from Kingshighway and gets the job done. I never experience exceptional service at home improvement stores so I tend to avoid them altogether. There isn't much to this one.
