I just bought a new home, and I am so excited to get started on improvements. New paint is a must. Cleaning is a must. Of course Home Depot is the first place that I thought of. What a fantastic experience! Wade in the paint department was phenomenal in helping me--he was very patient with my needing to call my consultant on which paint to get, he offered good recommendations, and he was able to mix up just what I needed. I also stopped by to get some (many) cleaning products for my new home. They have everything and more, including an impressive collection of Meyer's Clean Day scents. (I chose Honeysuckle.) I also snagged some cleaning tools to keep my new place sparkling. Everyone here is helpful, friendly, and good-natured; it was such a pleasure to come! I have been going to this Home Depot for two years and have been satisfied after every visit. They have a wide selection of products available and if it is not in store you can have it shipped in. It is also so convenient to set a pick up, where they have everything you need ready for you! I also love the Home Depot website as it tells you which aisle and bay the product was in so I do not have to wander around the store looking for what I need! The staff here have also been super helpful meeting my needs - whether it be to cut wood, find a product, or make a key. They have been very kind and willing to work with me. STOP! Never by home depot gift cards! I received a $100 Home Depot birthday gift card and it was drained in a scam. Home Depot did NOTHING at this store to fix it! Home depot has weak scam prevention technology built into their gift cards. I went to spend a $100 gift card from my birthday on an air compressor at Home Depot. The gift card rang up as $0 balance at the checkout. The card # was entered into their store system, and the gift card was purchased in Minnesota at Home Depot #2802 (Fridley) and then 2 days later used twice in a row at Home Depot #7146 (Montreal, Quebec, CANADA) before I even received my "gift" for my birthday while still in Minnesota. The check out associate called over another associate, and then the manager. After looking in their system and the manager talking to the security team on the phone, they told me there was NOTHING they would do to remedy the situation. They said to treat the gift card "like cash" and spend it right away when you get it (to avoid scammers spending it first.) I thought the gift card was safe on my desk in the envelope ("like cash"), but CASH can't be stolen and used in another country while it's sitting in my own home... My suspicion is that a ring of gift card theives or employees are somehow getting the barcodes before the gift cards are even purchased, then selling them online to other theives waiting for a sucker the fund the card. But I'm not an international gift card theft ring expert... I did not give out the numbers over the phone to pay the IRS or any other nonsense, and the scratch-off over the PIN numbers wasn't tampered with. This turned what should have been a fun shopping trip into a nightmarish and infuriating experience that makes Home Depot my new #1 most despised retailer! Don't buy Home Depot gift cards! I bought a large item with a gift card, using my credit card to cover the remainder. The entire purchase was charged to my personal card. I called and talked online, and this issue could not be fixed because of internal processes that prevented the employees from helping (they would have been very helpful otherwise, their service was great). I had to go in store to remedy the issue. Again, because of Home Depot policies, I could not just return and re-buy the item, it had to go into stock, and they would send me another. That order cancelled a day after, because the store didn't have any in stock. I was recently told that they would not get the item put back into stock and will not be able to deliver it, cancelling my order. I now have to go into the store AGAIN to get a refund. I still don't have my money or my item, and I've spent several hours over the past week on the phone, online, and in the store to solve what should be a very simple clerical fix. read more

My girlfriend ordered this tool box online, which Home Depot ships to the wrong address. The photo providing "proof" is blurry and provides no detail that would make it possible to tell what building it was delivered to. This wouldn't be a problem if Home Depot had decent customer service, but according to them the onus is on HER to get her money back. Not "we're sorry to hear that please provide us with your address and we'll ship another one" or "we're sorry to hear that here's a refund," but "we're sorry to hear that please dispute the transaction with your bank to get your money back." ??? What are the implications when a new Home Depot employee, (apparently practicing on-the-job training), mixes the color of your third gallon of interior paint incorrectly? As a hired painter, it cost me an extra day, without compensation. Let me show the extra steps. I tried to finish that whole wall in the wrong, (albeit similar), "new paint color," because I used that new gallon halfway through hat wall initially. That involved: 1) Re-taping the baseboard A SECOND TIME. 2) Re-painting the baseboard and trim on ceiling FOR A SECOMD TIME. 2a) Touching up the ceiling AGAIN (Nobody's perfect) 3) Repainting the whole wall FOR A SECOND TIME. I'M BEING PAID, SO APPROVAL IS UP TO MY CLIENT, WHO DOESN'T LIKE THE COMPROMISED COLOR. I have such fond memories of shopping at this Home Depot, buying things to remodel my house. These were the days before we had kids and my husband would spend about $1000 a month at this Home Depot and spend all his time gutting our kitchen and gutting our bathroom, ripping up carpeting, painting... We have bought plants for around our house here, gutter guards, decorating magazines... I just bought my husband a box of that yellow brand of tools. They didn't have the one he wanted but I ordered them online and they brought them right to my car and put them in my trunk. I was just here with my significant other, who was treated so rudely by a young/middle-aged male associate with brown hair and glasses in customer service when asking a simple question about an item being available in-store or online. He made us feel stupid for asking, plus had a nasty response, "this is Home Depot...." implying this item wouldn't be available here, although we researched and saw it available online. We agreed we've never interacted with a ruder associate. Writing a review for Home Depot is so tough. We go there quite often and the review can really range from visit to visit. Once we find the right worker, from the needed, department, we usually have an extremely knowledgeable worker, that helps us get exactly what we want. And they usually give us great, helpful information, which we never thought of. On the other hand, it often seems you cannot find the right worker, when you need them. So either you don't get the right info, or you need to wait to find the right person. But, Home Depot does offer a wide selection of merchandise at a great price. So if you understand, you may have to seek out the right person, and may have to wait a bit before they are available, we can usually find what we are looking for. Also, Home Depot workers are getting better. I've found that if they are not the right person (i.e. maybe they know a little but not a lot, and you need someone, more knowledgeable), they will tell you who is the right person to talk to and usually help you find them. Once you find an available worker, they are always friendly and do try their best. Overall, for the value (bulk, hardware store), they do offer good service, as long as you know you may have to wait a bit to get it. Note that the more seasoned full-timers are more likely to work Mon-Fri during the day (they are more experienced and know their stuff), so it's often the part-time and/or newer people that work nights and weekends. But again, I've seen even the evening and weekend people improve as they are likely getting more overall training as well. Home Depot also offers a 10% Discount to all Military/Veterans, so that is another added bonus. Just tell them at the Cash Register. Or even better, if you have any kind of Military ID (even an old one) just show them, and they will take off the 10%. If you don't have an Military ID anymore, have any kind of DD 214 with you, in case they want to see something but I've never had any problem when I tell them I'm military/a veteran. (If you are/were a reservist, I'd also try to get the 10% Discount - just have a old DD 214 with just in case, and save yourself 10%!) read more

I only shop Menards now! A after years of different home remodel projects that I have completed on my own, I recently finished a major remodeling project on my house in 2023. I spent over 45k on materials split between Menards and Home Depot. when finished I had about 2200 in returns for Home Depot and about 3500 in returns to Menards. because of Home Depot's return policy (I had all receipts) I ended up eating 1.6k because it was past their time limit on returns. On the other hand MENARDS gladly took back everything AND happily looked up some stuff I did not have receipts for and issued an in store credit! The difference in the customer experience between the two companies was drastic. I now choose to do business only with Menards and recommend you do the same. I liked Home Depot's indoor lumberyard but it is not worth the price you pay if you need a company that is consumer orientated. read more

I needed window insulation and some extension cords for my Christmas lights. This was the third or fourth time coming to this Home Depot and it is the consistently good service I receive here that prompted me to write this review. Multiple workers had asked me if I needed help and as I looked at my extension cord options a few workers who were stocking shelves had moved out of my way while I shopped. I also think this Home Depot is very well stocked and organized which makes the whole shopping experience so much easier. I overheard someone talking about how this Home Depot is one of the most successful in the country in terms of sales and I can understand why! I did an online order for 3 small items that were listed to be in store. I received my pick up notice for 4 days out. I called the store as I needed 2 items sooner than the 4 days. They found 2 and told me I could pick them up right away. They also informed me that their curbside app was down and I could call when I arrived. I called; they informed me I had to come in store to get it. I go in the store and am told my order isn't ready. Now I have to wait in the store for 15-20 min. No apologies for the inconvenience or delay. 2 of 4 of the employees were completely rude and gave incorrect information. Never again!!! read more

I went to the Home Depot in the early evening, about 7:15pm. I expected a throng of people and no help available. But, I walked in and there was a Home Depot sales person right there who helped me right away. I had to buy 2 gallons of paint for a project at home. The second gallon was supposed be the extra paint to cover those inevitable spots that were missed with the roller. Well, it didn't match. And we had to repaint the entire room AGAIN because we'd spot painted everywhere. Everyone was tired and crabby and unhappy. They gave us the 3rd gallon of paint for free, but it was NOT FUN, to have to repaint all four walls again. "Sorry" doesn't cut it when you're on the short end of the stick. A really unhappy event. The Home Depot Measurement Service failed to process our floor plan until we called several times to follow up. Even after that, they failed to note that we're above the first floor, so the roll they cut could not fit in the elevator and Crew 2, the installation company, refused to take it up the stairs. Now they're saying they're going to need to cut the roll and leave several seams, and we're totally in the dark on when they're going to attempt installation a second time. Home Depot's customer service is blaming their subcontractors rather than taking responsibility, and they laughed at the suggestion of a credit or discount to us. If you use them (don't), make sure the person who does your measure notes the roll size that can feasibly be transported to the installation site. read more

DO NOT RELY ON THEIR DELIVERY! My order was supposed to come on a Monday between 8 am-12 pm. It got split into multiple orders and pushed back to Wednesday. Come Wednesday my order arrives with a large portion missing. When I spoke to the first rep, he tells me he can get the delivery sent out that same day or the next day. Afterward, I get two more calls, each from a manager changing my delivery to a further date. The best date their managers could reschedule was the following Wednesday between 8 am-8 pm. 7 days later and a 12-hour delivery window is tough to swallow. read more

This is not in reference to this location per se, but to Home Depot as a whole. We have experienced an Appliance Delivery and installation nightmare. About one week ago I ordered a gas dryer, a specialty type, 26.75 inches, flat back so it took some doing to find in stock. I bought it online. In the delivery options, you could either have curbside or the full bug, delivery and install for $200.00. Curb was not an option for me since my husband is disabled and I can't cart an appliance up and down steps on a Dolly. SO speedy delivery and install option in place, I set up a Saturday delivery for when I was home. Our receipt/ info said the whole thing would happen same day. When they actually called to schedule a delivery window, we were told that the dryer would be delivered Saturday but a plumber would be out to do the install Tuesday. My husband called back to say we had been told this would all happen and in the same day, and the Home Depot said they would make that happen. You guessed it delivery guys get here Saturday, says the plumber will be out Tuesday and then they proceed in the confusion of it all to place the dryer away from the gas hookup, reversing the original sides of the washer and dryer. We call the Home Depot. Nope, no one can do anything for us until Tuesday. Oh, for good measure they will call Monday and let me know what time window they want now. They have through a series of hot messes created a situation where I need to find someone to be here while I am at work because my disabled husband can not handle this flow of traffic. I cannot dry my stinking towels for three more days, I need to keep hanging clothes in limited space. I cannot even get someone else to come in and install because my machines are in the wrong place. No WAY would I have scheduled the Saturday delivery had I known all this at time of sale. I could have arranged to be home two days earlier, I can't even be here Tuesday and will need to arrange for someone else to be. How could they NOT reveal that at time of sale for their high install/delivery fee? Our experience of being on the phone today was multiple people putting us on hold, telling us they can't help us. I am a Regional Property Manager for 1200 units in 24 properties. I don't want my sites doing business with a corporation that treats customers this way except when essential to get a part. I will never shop Home Depot again. In fact, I would gladly spend time and gas to avoid ever buying an item from them again personally. After spending literally the whole morning talking to Ryobi headquarters, I was told that the battery is defective and to exchange it at Home Depot. I tried, they refused. But some idiot kid, some idiot at customer service and some random in the mower department said no, that I would have to change it through Ryobi. MEANWHILE, right at customer service was a used Ryobi lawnmower which had been returned the hour before. My damned grass is too long to wait for a replacement battery from Ryobi. I'm going to recommend to Ryobi that they stop distribution to Home Depot. PLUS, Home Depot donates a lot of $$$ to Mr. Trump. So now, they are officially OFF MY LIST. FOREVER. Home Depot puts policy before customer service! This sentence pretty much sums up my experience buying the only two items I have ever purchased on Homedepot.com. Both items were not available in stores so I was directed by an in store employee to go to homedepot.com and I could purchase a claw foot tub faucet and the heater no problem... Wrong! The heater worked briefly but stopped working on the coldest week of the year in Minnesota (-30 degrees). The faucet arrived a week later(packaged in newspaper with no receipt, directions or any information at all in it. It looked like it came from someone's basement) did not know was defective until I paid a plumbing engineer $150 to install it!! Thanks a lot Home Depot. When I talk to Home Depot's customer service specialist named CeCe (cic6990) and explain the situation I was immediately sent to a "manager" named "Star" who more or less treated me like A debt collector who I owed money to. I was told that the policies of Home Depot does not allow them to help me and my situation. I will think twice before buying from Home Depot again and maybe you should too. read more

I went in to store to get a light bulb for my refrigerator. Mine had burned out. I went back to refrigerator section and looked at their floor models. Looked around to see if bulbs were in area. I had just stopped on way home from work. Dressed nicely so when four guys and two women who worked there walked right past me without saying anything or asking me if I needed help I was disappointed. I then pushed cart over to light bulb aisle. Two male workers made eye contact and then walked by ignoring my " excuse me ". Had nothing but problems with my carpet/pad order. Selling house so wanted it by a certain date. Stated to carpet saleswoman that I needed it by a certain day or wouldn't order it. Checked on computer for delivery date. No problem. Uh huh. Kept getting delayed. Kept calling HD. They kept stating order was on the truck and be in by a certain date. Lies. Actually CHANGED the arrival date on order. Had to go last minute to a carpet clearance place. Finally carpet came in. AFTER my house on market for two weeks. Of course, don't need it now. Won't return it now without deducting 25%. St. Louis Park management team are absolutely the most useless people. Can't be bothered to actually do any work. Spoke to a manager, said they would call me back. Nothing. Called back. Spoke with Mick, one of the miserable managers. He claimed he & Jenny, SLP general manager are absolutely powerless to return special order items in their own store which does beg the question of why they have their jobs in the first place. I had a horrible interaction with one of your staff on the phone this afternoon. Just hung up with a woman who did everything but yell at me. She wouldn't let me talk, she brought me to tears, and when I told her she was treating me horribly (as I'm crying), she said, "well don't try and make me feel guilty". I was calling to ask if something was in stock just like the website instructed me to and when I couldn't give her a department (the website only mentioned that it was under Safety Equipment : Headgear : Facemasks). I've shopped at this Home Depot a few times--mostly for plants or the occasional nuts and bolts, etc. I've never required a ton of assistance, but it seems like there are always plenty of sales people meandering about willing to help if I needed it. I guess they all assume that a girl wandering through a building supply store needs help--either that, or I just give out that sort of vibe! Regardless, they have a good selection of plants, and most are in really good condition. The other day, I went in looking for a specific type of orchid (which they were out of unfortunately). We did find some nice lilies for the BF's mom for Mother's Day, and some veggies & herbs to start our balcony garden for this year. The thing I really love about Home Depot is their plant guarantee: if any plant purchased there dies within a year, you can return it for a replacement or a full refund if they don't have a replacement available! read more

Today when we there picking up a lawn mower we purchased, I was looking at outdoor lights and an employee came and hackled me about getting a quote for an AC, when I said I wasn't interested he kept just repeatedly asking me how old the AC and furnace were in the house. Beware if you buy carpet at Home Depot ! They don't tell you if you have product problem with the carpet, that the warranty is void if you didn't have it professionally cleaned every 12 months I purchased over 4 thousand dollars worth of carpet and it started to matte up in about 20 months (I had a 3 year warranty on the carpet) Also, it is just my wife and I that live in a townhouse. We are both senior citizens. I sent pictures of the carpet they thought it would be covered by the warranty, Then they ask had I had it cleaned in the last 12 mounts. I said no, it does not need it. On a very recent visit to the store to buy some plants I was extremely lucky to find someone watering the plants who actually knew about plants. She gave me a lot of options for planting a particularly challenging slope in my garden - I envy homes that don't have steep slopes in their gardens. Of course many plants here were very stressed and I needed a lot of time and found only one - I needed 2-3 - that looked like it would survive. The plant selection wasn't huge, as is to be expected at a non-specialized store. HD had good options for types of garden soil - from organic to fertilizer-enhanced. You can ask for help getting things loaded in your car. It's convenient to have the cash registers in the garden areas. read more
