They have some parking spots that are dedicated to the rental vehicles, I parked in one because the signs that point this fact out are handmade and obviously was lost to the elements and I did not notice. As I returned to my vehicle an employee was near my vehicle and pointed this out to me in a rather rude way. I had my young daughter with me and her language was unacceptable. In 10 seconds I would have been driving away and nothing would have happened but she couldn't believe that I parked there. I'm not joking, she massively overreacted and now here I am posting a review that will reflect my experience. I was looking for a string trimmer and decided to stop by my local Home Depot. I met the most informative Home Depot lady in the lawn equipment lisle. She spent time explaining the string trimmer landscape to another customer and I. After her talk, we were very informed and much more comfortable with our choices and options. I don't know what the other customer purchased but I selected a Milwaukee M18 FUEL model and am very satisfied with it. I'm only sorry I didn't get the lady's name that spoke to us. Good Afternoon, On Thursday evening on July 15, 2021 around 5pm /5:15pm at your location on 621 Brookforest, Shorewood, IL 60504, Store #6925. I end to the paint department to have a 2nd sample scanned in order to try and match a particular paint color. I was greeted by a senior citizen long silver hair short female. I hand her the sample and ask if they could scan it. She tells me it's too small and they cannot do it. Then hands me the sample reader clip with my sample. I then fit the sample in the small hole and ask can you try scanning it, I think I got where it would read it. She replies NO I AM NOT GOING TO DO THAT. I tell her can we just try it if it doesn't it it's fine. She again tells me NO I AM NOT DO IT. I tell her just forget it since you're not tryin to help. I turn around and begin to walk away. She yells out your still going to be in the same position. While their were 5-6 customers in the area. I tell back it doesn't matter since your not willing to help. I then go to the customer service desk and make a payment on my Home Depot card and leave. I trace 10 mins further down to the next town and go to Menards. Go to the paint department speak with a rep show him the sample he tells me it looks a bit small but let's try it. I tell him thank I greatly appreciate you trying it. I know if it doesn't work it's on me. 5 minutes later I have a the paint color I was looking for and ended up Purchasing many other items. I would have purchase at Home Depot. The customer service I received was the WORST I have ever experience. I speak from a customers professional with over 25 yrs of experience. To turn a customer away without attempting to help and embarrass the customer by yelling out in front of other customers is the last thing any representative should ever think of doing. Then making the customer go to the competitor it's even worst. If that's how I will be treated at your locations. I will rather go to the competition any day. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. Highly disappointed and disgusted with manager Alma. My family ordered a grill and dropped it off to be assembled and have been getting the run around about it's completion for the last week and half. My family went in this location twice this week and were told the staff couldn't find the grill we paid for and had the receipt for. Alma refused to give us a refund and refused to get to the bottom of where the grill was that we paid for and made it seem like it was our fault. It was apparently OUR job to tell her which or HER employees took our order to assemble the grill we paid for (apparently we should gave gotten this person's name that wasn't printed on the receipt given to us because the actual receipt wasn't enough proof). Alma was completely unprofessional, unaccommodating, and took no responsibility for her staff losing the grill we paid for. She wanted US to prove that we had a grill because HER AND HER STAFF couldn't find it, even though we had a receipt for it AND they looked up our credit card number in their system confirming we ordered it....that still wasn't enough for her to do the right thing for the customer. Thus, we didn't have a grill for memorial day weekend. Thanks Home Depot, thanks Alma. We'll shop elswhere. From reading the other reviews, this location needs serious help. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could. It took 6 months to get a flooring project complete and the job is not quality work. G&S flooring will do a hack job and blame hardwood variance. You will seek Home Depot's support and they will give you none. One of their Assistant Store Managers is completely inept and tried to take control to only further screw things up. (Employees will voluntarily support this unsolicited. Yes employees mocked the manager in front of us...and they were just to do so. He's a complete clown.) Regional support, because we had to go above the store once the assistant manager screwed it up, is no more responsive to needs and concerns. I can only guess their getting kick back under the table from their contractor as we were sold the contractors product without issue only to receive no consideration on price after enduring 6 months of plywood floor and having our personal plans routinely impacted by this project. Conversations have been had with inspectors and the work has been deemed crap but again an iron clad service contract prevents us from really seeking recourse. This experience has taught us to not just look at a brand name retailer and fair price to get a job done. You want flooring go to FCA or a local mom and pop not Home Depot. Their service contracts will leave you without recourse in the event of poor quality work, product, or service. Between our experience and others friends have had with this Home Depot and their contractor services, we will not be going to Home Depot or recommending them for anything ever in the future. It's a shame really but I highly encourage anyone interested in contractor services steer very clear of Home Depot or a company out of Arlington Heights they contract called G&S services...who subcontracts to Elle Gant. It's a wicked web of terrible really...just go elsewhere. read more

Do not buy appliances here. The delivery service they use is terrible. They came to deliver our fridge and we were told that we had to remove the doors, and they gave us a number to call when that was done and they would come back. Sorry my husband removed the doors, called back and got Home Depot who has nothing to do deliveries. My husband spoke to 4 different people who all told him the same thing, that they are on their route and we would have to reschedule for next week! He asked the last person if this is a normal occurrence, and she said, unfortunately with this delivery company it is. The next week different delivery guys came and had no problem removing our old fridge with the doors on! He said that when this company is backed up with work, they hire day workers who obviously don't want to work! So you're taking a chance buying appliances here read more

I've been to this Home Depot many times last year, and my experience was generally positive. I'm not sure who is managing the store now, but it is a complete mess. Extremely disorganized. Garden supplies are tacked onto random aisles instead of being easily accessible. It was all in the front last year. That area is now filled with patio furniture. I'd planned to shop for pots, plants, trellis material, etc, but areas were closed off or filled with clutter. I will take my future business elsewhere. Today I went there to return a 20 dollar hose that I didn't need that was a close to 2,000 purchase. The lady who must be somewhat in charge was being snappy. The lady at register saw the receipt and said out load you bought this in Joliet. The Snappy lady said with out seeing or even knowing what I was returning said that's a special order you can't return that here. I told her no it's a hose that I didn't need for our new Fridge, she then says you still can't return it here. The lady helping me scans it and said it ecpected it the other lady comes over to try to stop it the. says to her you shouldn't of. accepted it, next time dont do it. I said why, she said it's store policy you need to return it to store you bought it from? told her thats dumb, she said she doesn't make the policies. I've done retail and I Know that hits their stores Margins but, as customer that's not my issue, I got to chains so I can exchange with no issues plus this was a lot closer to where I live. One of the better H.D I've visited. The store is clean esp. for a H.D where they tend to be more rugged than say Lowes. We were there on Sunday 2/19/17 to pick up a propane tank and to rent a wet tile saw. The employees were helpful and apologetic when my husband had to go back b/c a part was missing from the saw- the guy knocked off $20 for the inconvenience. This location is a bit of a drive from our home but my husband is over dealing w/ Menards so this may be his go to place in the future. read more

I have always been a fan of Home Depot and in most cases they have done very well. I moved to Shorewood about three ago and I have spent a ton of money at Home Depot. This specific store is under staffed and when you can find help, the staff is extremely rude and put out for doing their job. Specifically on two occasions, the staff working in mill work are the people I am talking about. I had to return an appliance this morning. A lovely woman told me that a man would meet me at the front of the store to help me unload it. Instead the man ignored me and didn't say anything to me. He helped others though. Didn't even tell me he would assist me in a few minutes. So I was able to get the appliance in the store myself thank goodness. The lovely woman working behind the counter asked him why he didn't help me and he said because I didn't need it lol. Just a complete son of a bitch. He needs to be retrained on how to deal with customers. The ignorance and disrespect was embarrassing. It didn't help that I cut my finger moving the thing by myself! Sorry - but I had to give a 1 star because of the paint service. I wanted paint samples for Sherwin Williams so I called this Home Depot today and asked specifically if they do paint samples for Sherwin Williams. The woman I spoke to said yes so I told her I would be right in. However, when I got there and spoke with the woman (who I believe was the same woman from the phone), she told me that they don't carry Sherwin Williams and I would have to pick a different paint for the sample. She said that whoever I had spoken to on the phone must have been mistaken. There are not that many people in the paint department here...nor are there that many woman, so I'm pretty sure that I spoke to her. What a waste of my time! read more

My husband and I were recently at the Shorewood Home Depot to order a new front door plus installation. The single customer service associate was helping another couple at the time and we patiently looked at some literature and walked around a bit and as he finished up he said "I'll be right with you" for which we were grateful for the acknowledgement. We asked a couple of questions and he offered a couple of suggestions such as that fiberglass was the way to go for the best quality and as we were making a decision on the style, he said he'd be right back...and left for what we believe was a break? He was gone over 15 minutes and when we went up to customer service there was a long line there as well so we couldn't even talk to anybody about it. All around lousy customer service. I went through Home Depot for a kitchen remodel because I thought they would be a safe bet, but it was a huge mistake. I spent $20,000 and they sent some out of work contractors to do the installation at my house. They rushed the job to finish in one day, but they didn't put anything down to protect my hardwood floors and did a lot of damage when my appliances were moved. So now I'm going to be out another 2 grand to fix the damages they caused. If I could go back in time I would go to a remodeling contractor with a good reputation. Literally the worst store I've stepped foot in for social distance compliance. This store does not care about the health and safety of both customers and employees. Went in to buy paint today and there were no sanitizing wipes or anything by the cart area, there were at least 10 people in the immediate paint area with either no masks at all or being worn completely on their necks, about 50% of those with masks were wearing them wrong, and I had to stand in a far isle because people kept standing directly behind me in the line as I was waiting. I even saw an employee enter the building without a mask on drinking a soft drink in the store. Absolute savagery. I can't imagine going to any Home Depot store again and wish that 0 stars was an option for my visit. read more

I always appreciate the amount of staff wandering throughout the store, always willing to give people a hand. Most seem very knowledgable about whatever project we're working on at any given time. Most recent purchase was blinds for the bedroom and the fella that helped me definitely knew what he was doing. I told him what I needed, he pointed out his suggestions, cut them to size, pointed out a few other details and off I went to install it. It's up. It's great. And my wife is happy. So there. I had a great experience when going to buy an artificial Christmas tree the day before thanksgiving. I was going to buy a 6.5 ft tall mid-range tree, when I went to check out the sales lady said "if you can wait until Friday there's a much better $200 tree on sale for $79!" Well I had to work Black Friday so was afraid by the time I got there they would all be sold out. The lady said I could buy the tree at $200 and then come back on Black Friday with my receipt and get the price difference back! AWESOME DEAL, RIGHT?! Well when I went back on Friday, a different lady at the service counter looked at me like I had 5 heads, and said they were told that morning that they weren't allowed to give the price difference! I told her how the sales lady two days ago said I could, could she find her and ask her. THEN she got even more of an attitude and said "I just told you, we can't do that!" I left, went to the Joliet HD, explained the same thing to them, and had my $120 in my hands in less than 5 minutes. I will drive further to go to the Joliet HD over the Shorewood one. read more

We will be purchasing carpet elsewhere. Disregarded, lectured, and spoken to condescingly presumably because my husband and I look young (31 and 25). When we finally got some assistance the woman did not offer any knowledge on the steps to purchase carpet, merely claiming that we did it wrong. We asked if we could at least get her to give us a quote on the carpet we picked out. She put in all our rough measurements wrong and put in the wrong carpet so the price was completely off. The only "selling" she did was to tell us about a product we never asked about and weren't considering. With her gruff attitude she made it clear she did not want us to be her customers. read more

I love to do DIY projects and work in my yard, so frequent trips to Home Depot are in order. They always have what I want... Once I find it or I'm fortunate enough to find a knowledgeable sales associate. My last visit, I was given 3 different locations to find the same item, by 3 different associates, in 3 different corners of the store! Thank God the third time was a charm! I did have to laugh out loud as their in-store loop played a commercial that ended with "Just ask a friendly knowledgeable sales associate for details." At the conclusion, I yelled out loud, "if you can find one!" Okay, so not the most "Ladylike" behavior, but I was so frustrated! Their lack of what I consider "exceptional customer service" adds time to every shopping experience. So it isn't the first time we couldn't get any service here, but yesterday my husband spent an hour gathering lumber and nails and everything else he needed for a big project. All in all we were probably looking at $600 - $700 in supplies and lumber. Because there were no more of the boards he needed in a reachable spot, he asked for help getting the boards down. They were "sending someone". 20 minutes later he went back and asked whether someone was coming or not. 5 employees standing there yakking, they look at him and say, oh? Nobody came? We'll call him again. Annoyed, my husband, usually a very patient guy who works construction and is used to bullshit, waited another 10 minutes while the 5 employees yakked away. He then used a few choice words as to where they could stick the $500 in supplies he had already gathered on the carts and went to Menards instead, where it was less expensive. Great work! Just left this place, must say, customer service here is awful. I asked an employee for help, just needed to know what type of fastener to use to secure a leaning wall mirror and I was told I needed to speak to the hardware guy, so they paged him through a walkie-talkie and was told that he'd be a few minutes. So I waited maybe 8-12 minutes, he never came. So I started looking around myself trying to find some sort of fastener that might do the trick in the hardware aisle. I had no idea what i was looking for so I saw another employee walk past me and I asked him if he could please page the hardware guy for me because he never came, so he apologized and said he was going to personally walk him over to me. I said it was no problem and continued to wait. 10 minutes later, nothing. I looked around trying to see if there was anyone trying to look for me and nope. Literally, every single employee there was just walking around, making conversation with the other employees, no one even bothered asking me if I needed help with anything. I wasted about 30 minutes for this hardware guy to come and he never did. So whoever your hardware guy is on a Friday night around 9:30pm, he sucks. I live only a few blocks away from this store, yet gladly drive 12 miles past it to go to Menards. I have spent thousands of dollars at this Home Depot. Not a penny more. I will buy everything I need from Lowe's or Menards. The only time you get anyone to help u at this store is when upper management is around. If you are lucky enough to get someone to help you...it is because you walked over to the paint department, and all they will do is call someone who is probably on "break".
