I'm very unhappy with the process of purchasing new windows from Home Depot . Up until the money's approved and all the paperwork is completed, you have great service but after that I felt scammed the whole way I specifically ordered half screens in my window frames. My salesperson was very clear and only needed to confirm with our property management rep to confirm the manufacturing start date. He knew the old by laws stated full screens, yet all owners that purchased new windows recently began installing the half screens. I'm sure he became last and once the bylaws were emailed, he changed my order to the full screens without any communication with me. Our condo is family owned so many players are involved. I had to enter the screen correction on every form, red flag of course. Day of installation same problem, full screens, so I had to write that payment would not be completed until I had, in writing the screens I ordered. Then the harassment started, the contractor especially , guilty tripping me, pressuring me and texting non stop. They went around the to another family lender and got their payment. Then they began " lying by omission " telling us they'd give us 3 half screens, yet this were the kind u take in and out, which I found out later. My salesperson only replied to my pleas twice, to correct my version, which was another lie. So I then complain that my screens have gaps and my windows push back up, when closing. I'm unable to latch them without pushing the top window up! They said they'd come out , if I wanted, well isn't that I was saying in my complaints?? No one has come, no one has sent me any info on when my screens would be here. I got screwed. Supposedly the screens are all the same price? If so, what's the big deal? Supposedly they couldn't give me half screens due to condo by laws, but now I can half half and half? I have to live with these window and cree a for the next 20 years, poorly made this material, screens mind you, that need to be taken in and out, how long do u think those will last? Not happy with the product , the service and they are NOT TRUST WORTHY OR LOYAL TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. THE PRICE WAS GOOD, NOW I know why. They must have got and pasted the order because my correction was not hand written on it, as I had to do every time, like I said. Shame on HOME DEPOT. I ordered a fire table on May 18th online to be delivered to a Home Depot store. it said ETA latest was 6/3. I received no notification so I called the customer care line as the store instructed me to. The store said to hit prompt "6". Each time I was disconnected. After reaching a boiling point- I call the store. The girl who answered told me to hold after taking my order number. After returning she stated.. "uhh they're saying your order got lost and we gotta cancel and it's outta stock so you can't reorder." My order was a huge Memorial Day savings on a $469 table marked down to $179, so i said " No no no! dont cancel I want the table! Byt wasn't anyone going to tell me? I mean I paid for it 3 weeks ago!!" So she said " Well it got lost so.." I then said I realize it's not her fault but her answer isn't helpful so I need a manager. Manager gets on the phone and says the same thing. I said " but I want this table for this price and this didn't my fault that someone lost the table which actually means someone stole the table somewhere along the way right? Vause tables don't dissolve or evaporate. The table is actually somewhere and I've paid for it, and no one was going to notify me or refund me. So I think I should be able to come there and get a table for the price I paid even if it's a better table in stock." She was a little taken back and didn't say anything at first and then said "yeah I mean, you can come here and see ehat we have and we can work something out." and I'm thinking why am I walking this company through customer service? "So, you have another round fire table approx same size IN THE STORE? I don't want to come there and have nothing be there." So I'm out on hold and she checks and she said Yeah- come down there's some here and we can see what we Can do." To be continued.... but WTH!!! Last summer, I bought the Hampton Bay Fernlake Steel sectional set from Home Depot. However, upon opening the boxes, I found that the cushion covers were missing. Only the white, slippery inserts were included. I approached the store for help and was informed that I could special order them. The store provided me a discount on the set to compensate for the covers. I attempted to order the covers online but was informed that I could only purchase three covers instead of the required six. The cost for just 3 covers was TWICE the price I was quoted for the entire set. And why is there a limit on cushion covers?? Despite spending over an hour on chat with a customer service representative, I was unable to resolve the issue, and I was advised to visit the store again for assistance. I returned to the store to be told once again that the product was unavailable and I should call HD customer service line. After several months of being given the runaround, I still don't have the cushion covers and cannot use the fairly expensive sectional that I purchased. This seems to be a common problem, as I found out through Google that many other customers had similar experiences. I find this situation completely absurd. The cushion is not a common size, so finding a 26 x 26 replacement through a different company has been unsuccessful. I don't know how else to handle this except for getting custom made covers, which will probably cost more than the couch itself. Ridiculous. read more

Went in for lumber and my 9 year old son wanted a building kid to take home and build himself. Three staff members looked for us (was definitely an item Home Depot has carried). We told them not to worry but worker Caitlin insisted on calling other employees to see if they had it. Lastly, the manager Sean came Over and took us to where it would be. They did not have any so he climbed to the top of storage and gifted my son a few kits from their kids building classes. My son and I were so impressed with their dedication and will not forget this kindness! read more

Not the friendliest employees which surprises me. This place was once a business that prided itself on customer service but that has since changed. There are some other small things like the way certain things are stocked, but otherwise it has some things that Lowes doesn't carry, and vice versa. It may be the reason for the stocking issues,I've had. Overall this Home Depot is OK but nanagement just need to train and watch their employees, and do what they are payed to do. It all comes down to management and this place either needs new or the franchise leaders need to keep a better eye on the way store management is being handled. This behavior isn't going to stop me as a customer but it may have an effect on my subconscious that may make me pass up this store for a different store that carries the same product I'm looking for. read more

I will never, ever, EVER buy an appliance from Home Depot again. I bought a washer and dryer and have had my delivery cancelled twice. The first time was on a Saturday and we waited all day with nary a call to explain why they didn't show up. Next day was Sunday, of course, so the delivery company was closed. On Monday, I was on hold permanently with the delivery company without ever speaking to a live body. When I called the store, I was on the phone for 90 mins getting bounced from person to person--and hung up on. Twice. And I was being polite, miThen, the best excuse the store could offer was " We've done all we can. Problem's with the delivery company." So I have more pull with them than you do, Home Depot? Clearly not. The latest reason for today's no show? "The warehouse didn't put them on the truck this morning." Seriously? If you need appliances, try Lowe's or, better yet, a local company. Locals might care a little more about taking care of customers. Home Depot obviously doesn't. I'd leave zero stars if I could. UPDATE: So, third time's a charm and my Bosch machines were finally delivered--with European plugs on the machines, which means they can't be plugged in. This nightmare just goes on and on! Desi is s super star at the Wallingford Home Depot!! We just completed the installation of our new bathroom floor and were having trouble with the toilet leaking at the base. We tried twice to fix the leak to no avail. Desi came up to us and asked the almighty customer service question....."Can I help you?" He then proceeded to help us with our leaking toilet issue. He gave great advice and picked out exactly what we needed to fix our leak. We just repaired the toilet and it is FIXED!! Desi was spot on!!! I brought a Cub Cadet lawn mower at The Home Depot in August 2017 along with a 3 yrs warranty. Last week I had to schedule for a repair for this lawn mower. The service I received was underwhelming. After the initial call, I was told that someone will be in contact shortly about the repair. After over a week still no one called. I called again yesterday trying to get an update. No one picked up the phone but I was able to leave a message. No one returned the message today. So I called again in the afternoon and finally got a hold of a real person. I was told I was calling the scheduling company that was supposed to contact a repair shop for the repair but somehow never even make the call after over a week. And I was also told that they have the call scheduled for next week. Only problem is, I was told the same thing last week. The person that I spoke to was friendly, but you can't help but feel that the company is disorganized. I just want to cut my lawn and make my wife happy. Why is it so difficult? Came in here looking for a new hose for a grill I inherited. Needed a way to somehow match up with the regulator which connected to the grill but I had no idea what I was doing. The first guy i went to also had no idea. After a purchase which didn't work, I came back, got a refund, and found a new person. This guy, Sabby, went so far above and beyond to get what I needed. We looked at my grill in my trunk. We looked at the regulator. Then he literally took it apart and connected it to this new hose for me and then added some teflon to make it airtight. For no cost. At all. Sure, the first guy was semi-useless, but Sabby was absolutely awesome and I have to give them major props for making it up to me. If I ever have any home-related needs again, I will surely be back. read more

I went to Home Depot in Wallingford because Google said 12x12" mirrored tiles were sold there. When I entered into the store, Debbie insisted they didn't carry 12x12" mirrored tiles without even checking. I went across the street to Lowes, even though the guy had one knee on a scooter, he checked a couple places for me and we couldn't find any. I informed my GM said Home Depot did carry them, so I went back to Home Depot. This time I found Lisa, who helped me search the few places where the tiles could be. She kept making possible suggestions for alternate items. Finally we found the specific ones I was looking for. Lisa even started to help me put them in my cart! I left Lisa and proceeded to the check out. I only saw self-check-out lines open, so I ended up at the courtesy desk with Debbie. I had to ask her to move her elbow so I could put the items on the counter. Debbie then scanned the price, which said $10.98. When I told her the sign said $9.98, she asked "so you don't want them?" I said I want them for the right price of $9.98. Debbie checked with another EE, and found out I was right. Then Debbie said she had to issue a $1 off of each tile. Once I put my credit card in, Debbie asked me what the PO is. I had no idea what she meant by this. She had me take the credit card out to look for the company name, then complained that she had to start the order over because I pulled the credit card out, which cancelled the transaction. BEWARE of return policies. Home Depot does NOT live up to the return policies stated on their website, on the paperwork you receive when placing an order online, the paperwork you receive to pick up your order, or the 'thank you for picking up your order' email. We bought a pair of gloves for $49 in early December for a Christmas gift. I assumed we had until Jan 31st to return them. I took them there today (1/30/21) in pristine, unopened condition with the receipt from the online purchase. NO! We had 30 days. But the items are still advertised and available at FULL PRICE as of January 30th, hence not a seasonal item. They offered a store credit. I don't need to purchase something else. Their return policy clearly states 180 days for refunds. There is also a big item on their website to say they are offering 180 days due to covid. I will be contacting the CT Dept of Consumer Protection on Monday and will not be ordering online from Home Depot again. I probably spend $200-$500 a year in HD for paint, yard tools, cleaning supplies, etc. Not any more. I will be using the big blue store across the street on Rt 5...you know the one. read more

I used to work here, and quit a few years back. I don't know why I didn't quit earlier. I literally busted my ass at this job. The pay was terrible, the people I worked with all had their own little groups, and most of them were sleeping in the break room and were disgustingly lazy. The managers played favorites instead of awarding quality of work. The only managers I liked were Sean and Nancy. I also worked with some great employees that made my day a little easier. I got a pat on the back and some "awards" but never a promotion. I was sweating my butt off running around, doing other people's jobs all the time. I am not sure if Matt is still the store manager there, but he always made jokes that weren't funny and offensive. He didn't even know half of what I really did, and tried so desperately to act like he was the shit. I had to sit down and do reports for about one hour a day but my ass was up if someone needed help. He literally belittled me for sitting down after 5 minutes doing the job that a MANAGER is supposed to be doing. Not to mentioned it felt good sitting down for a second because I was running myself ragged around the store, literally. I had very bad feet after working there. I ran to the back in the warehouse to check an order, not even for a minute, and he was mad because there was one person at the desk. What am I supposed to do? Try to page someone for an hour, like always while we pile up with people, I said F**ck this I gotta do it. I have had it at the point and said "then go make yourself useful for once, and do it yourself". He was just standing there with his arms crossed not doing jack. He turned pretty red. He ended up apologizing. I accepted the apology, but I wasn't going to take anymore of his foolish outbursts. The only reason he apologized was because he didn't want to lose me as an employee. Too late! But, I had my regular awesome customers, and some that were absolutely bat shit crazy for no reason, including some coming in cracked out trying to steal crap. One thing I also wanted to mention was some managers never came out either, and just sat in their office. When district came in, you bet they were running up to the front of the store! I'm glad I didn't wait anything out. Having the wonderful job I have now (medical) I feel like I make an actual difference, and I'm appreciated. Knowing what I know now, and realizing the BS I put myself through working there, even if I was offered a management position, I wouldn't accept. Home Depot didn't appreciate me, stick to their values, and handled the majority of issues or concerns inappropriately, and that is not who I am, nor is it what I stand for. Horrible structure of online pickup orders. Quicker to go grab your order and bring it to the register yourself. The day I went they had a full cart in the line which blocked everything and was confusing. I was even a skipped when a woman doing returns decided she was going to help people in the pickup lIne. I will never mind letting older people go in front of me, but at least ASK me. Think I was in the store for a half hour. Why order online if that's the wait time? read more

Easy access off of route 5 in Wallingford. The staffs here are well trained. Went to the store for some lawn maintenance must haves. Staff here gave me some unbiased advise, not trying to sell, try to save me money. The product recommended was useful. People here don't just stand around like other stores, more than one staff came by ask if I needed help. Great customer service!! read more

Nothing really stood out to me at this location. Drivers in the lot were reckless, but that isn't home depot's fault. As everything else in Wallingford, I complain about getting in and out of anything along route 5. Went in to look at upright freezers and they had a very limited selection. Other visits I managed to grab a nice deal on oops paint and pond equipment, but i prefer lowes across the street over them anyday. Southington is still my go to depot when push comes to shove. read more

DO NOT purchase potting soil from Home Depot is could be infested with fungus gnats. You may think the flying insects are fruit fly's. The potting soil is loaded with the eggs of the fungus gnat and will continue to lay and hatch eggs until you change the soil of the plant with a non-infected type. Purchase potting soil from your locate gardening center. You can spray your plants but that treatment is effective for about a day. You need to change the soil. read more

Agreed to buy the Mickey mouse display at 70 % off and they did 50 then 20 which made it 10 dollars more than originally I agreed to pay. Gave the manager the option to either give me the 10 dollars. Had to wall in the rain again to ask to have the manager come up as my 5 year old was very sad and dissapointed to have the manager be to busy and sent Lucas. Lucas decided that was not okay to refund the 10 dollars and honor the price I agreed to pay 36 dollars to which an entire line of customers could attest to, so I returned the whole damn thing after having to walk in the rain twice with a 5 year old. Poor service sneaky scheming people. The thing had a hole in it and no box what a rude dishonorable place. I'll be filing a better business bureau report as well. This is the second time I've gone here to make a purchase only to be turned away. The first time, I went looking for a replacement coal plate for my propane grill. Granted my grill is old, but they really couldn't do anything for me. I went across the street to Lowe's and although they didn't have an exact match, they had something close enough that after only five minutes with a hacksaw, it worked perfectly. That was three years ago. It's still working fine. This time, my frustration stems from something much worse. I needed a high-velocity floor fan. Granted, it was the middle of April and many stores are just getting around to putting them out. The problem here is that I checked on their website, first, to find they had sixteen in stock! Problem solved, right? I wish. The website even said I could pay for it online and pick it up at the store today! Wow! So, because I wanted to make comparisons, I decided to drive to the store and take a look before committing to one. I asked the greeter, who was unsure and ushered me to customer service. The woman at customer service claimed it was an "online-only" item and that I'd have to order it online. I pointed out to her that the website stated it was in-stock at the store, which reasonably tells me I can go there, pay for it, and walk out with it; another satisfied customer. Instead, I was informed, after several phone calls around the store, that although the fans were on the premisis, they hadn't been put up for display yet and that I should come back next week. I informed the customer service rep that I would go across the street to Lowe's. She made no attempt to keep my business and I was careful not to be rude to her or anyone else. Apparently, if I don't like it, I can just go elsewhere. I did. Lowe's had their entire selection of fans out and available. So, I bought one! I'm sorry, HD, but you failed here. If you want to keep my business, you could've just as simply gone, pulled the item from the warehouse, and sold it to me. If I'd ordered it online, you would've had to do that anyway, since there are delivery deadlines to meet. So from now on, HD will be my "last resort" hardware store, when all others do not have what I need, when I need it. read more

Don't fall for their price guarantee. Policy says they will match any price and beat it if it's in stock and its the same item stock number. We went there with a printout of a sale item at Lowes and they couldn't match the price, let alone beat it. They said we just can't cut the price that much. So we called HD and told them of the problem and they agreed. They said they can't always meet or beat the price of any competitor. So why say it? Because some poor jerk will believe it and that's a shame. It will be the last place I go to when I need anything. read more

I purchased half a dozen pallets of Quikrete concrete from Home Depot over last few months. Went to Wallingford Home Depot to bring back 2 Quikrete pallets and get my $30 deposit back. I didn't have receipt and was told NO by the store Manager Derek. I told him I purchased the concrete at the Southington Home Depot and never had a problem with them. Derek stated "Take them back to Southington Store then". I explained to Derek that the deposit on the pallet was no different than a $.05 cent bottle deposit. There is no loss to the store since it would get the money back from the vendor. Derek stated "I already answered you". When I questioned his decision and asked what the written policy was Derek stated that "This was not an interrogation or a court of law. I have already answered your question". Derek was very arrogant, defensive, and short and shouldn't be handling customers with his power trip attitude. It's amazing how the Home Depots policy in the 90's was the customer is always right and it has transformed into the customer without a receipt must be a thief. In the end Home Depot lost because I went across the street to Lowes and purchase $600 in doors from them instead. I also went to Southington Home Depot and received my $30 refund without a problem. read more
