Complete lack of transparency. They wouldn't give me even a rough price in the showroom. Instead, they had to call someone in an office and have a 15-minute conversation just to come back with a number. Nothing is priced. Not countertops, not cabinet hardware, not even knobs and pulls. Everything feels intentionally vague. It comes across like they're sizing you up to see what they think they can charge rather than offering consistent, upfront pricing. My husband and I went in for kitchen and flooring for a new build. The showroom had a lot of selections. After spending about 2 hrs with our sales girl picking out what we wanted we were told we would have a quote in about a week. After a week when we hadn't heard back we reached out and was told someone will get back to us with a quote. A gentleman did reach out, not our salesperson, and said they will have a price in the next day or so. Well its been about 6 weeks and no call or price. How do you do business this way? I could not have had a better experience! I live in Manhattan and had tried three places here to be ghosted by two of them. I walked into Galleria with no expectation and was greeted warmly by Jenuarie and she was fabulous. She was patient in helping me decide what I wanted to do. I thought I could mix tile companies for an accent tile while never considering the exact dimensions of the tiles may not blend. She pointed this out and from that point I changed direction of what I was doing. After picking out tiles we went to the warehouse for the countertop and the first one I saw was the one I wanted. I also learned I need a fabricator which had not been mentioned to me previously. While waiting for sample tiles I saw some beautiful handmade tiles which I now think will be the accent tiles. I ordered one as the company is in California. The rest of the staff was exceptionally kind, helpful and interested in what my plans were when We discussed the hand made tiles. The experience could not have been better. I saw the negative reviews and I can honestly say I can't imagine any of the staff being cold, indifferent or unhelpful. I highly, highly recommend Galleria in Middletown. I just wish we had a place like this in the city! read more

We are remodeling our whole house and we went to Galleria for tile for our first bathroom. The place is spacious, but un-organized. There is no real flow to their showroom. Also, no one greets you when you come in or even asks if you need help. We have been there three or four times and each time we were never asked if we needed help by any sales representative. We did make an appointment once, which was fine and we ordered tile. But, their marble thresholds come out of the warehouse scratched and chipped. We had to send 2 thresholds back because of this and we live about an hour away. Although it's hard to find good tile shops in CT, we found one in Brookfield and will be going there for all of our tile going forward. It's sad that the customer experience lacks here. read more

I had a great experience here this past weekend. We came to get tile for a bathroom remodel and were not disappointed! This place has an enormous selection of natural stone and ceramic tile, at every price point. You can really find anything your looking for, and if it's not in stock they will get it. The design folks really help you coordinate different colors and textures based on the look/style that you're going for. I thought I was coming just for tile, but the rear end of the store houses appliances, bathroom tubs, vanities and fixtures....gorgeous stuff! We'll probably pick up our vanity here too. Staff was great. It's pricier than say, Home Depot, but the quality is far superior. I would recommend that anyone who is doing a bath or kitchen remodel check this place out, even if it's just for ideas. Pick up is easy at a warehouse across the street...they load your car for you! read more

My partner and I must have encountered 8 staff members, none of whom acknowledged our presence. We were looking for flooring for our bathroom remodel, and potentially new fixtures. The only person that talked to us was the man in the carpet section, who explained he was an outside vendor, and couldn't help up. 45 minutes here totally wasted. We did get treated to listening to 2 salespeople tall about a house they were interested in buying while we waited for assistance at the service desk. read more

They were very accommodating when we first arrived and once we placed an order, they were less than forthcoming with product or information and when then came up short, and we could not finish a job , because they were "out of stock", my wife was told it was our problem and they could not help. Never recommending them or doing business again. Our contractor warned us , but the prices were good. Better to spend more elsewhere. read more

Very unhappy with their service on my washer, which is about 18 months old. I called and told them that there was no hot water coming in to the tub, even though I checked the hot water pipes and the hose leading in to the machine. The guy gets here and tells me that, yes, it is true, these newer washers NEVER deliver straight hot water - that because they are energy efficient, I can never expect to get a true hot water wash, and that the only way to get a true hot water wash (for diapers, killing dust mites, etc.) is to buy a used machine. Cost for sharing this information with me and doing NOTHING: $85.02 Why didn't they just tell me over the phone that this is a feature of all new washing machines? Why waste my time and money coming all the way out here for this? Very shady practice; unethical really. I hope they're happy with the way they chiseled me out of $85. read more

This place was highly recommended to me & I can totally see why. It can be a little intimidating at first because it looks like it caters to high end shoppers but don't let it be, it's quite the contrary. I compared the prices to the big box stores as well another specialty store and it was very competitive, except that at Galleria you get the personalized shopping experience. I dealt with the same salesperson (Michelle) each time & she was very patient & attentive. One time I think I even saw her make macaroni & cheese for another customer's kids. From start to finish everything was done as promised & very timely. Everything is in house so there was direct lines of communication with the installers. The installation process was timely but could have gonna a little smoother. Expectedly, there are multiple teams of installers and I had a different crew initially measure than did the installation. The measuring crew required some adjustments be made to level my cabinets, most of them minor (1/8 to 1-4 inch) but enough to where I had a handyman in to do the work, turns out the installing crew thought it was unnecessary. Overall excellent experience. Go there first! read more

Although the sales staff struggled with math we found the perfect material for our project. After correcting the outstanding balance of what we owed I went to pick up the material and was pleasantly surprised how great the team of people working in the warehouse was. They loaded the tile with a sense of humor, smiles and actually seemed to enjoy their work I wish I could remember names but everyone in the warehouse was great!! read more

If you're in the market for natural stone or tile, you must check out Galleria Stone and Tile in the Galleria Design Center. I'm rating Galleria 5-stars because their selection is truly like no other. While the showroom seems a bit intimidating, the designers are extremely helpful in pointing you in the right direction. Love interior design? Then you're going to be completely impressed by the Galleria. Their stone/slab warehouse seems endless, showcasing some of the most beautiful materials I've ever seen. Both tile and stone products are offered in a range of different price points. When I first moved to Middletown, I was under the impression that the Galleria was very high-end and probably out of my price range. Not the case at all. I've purchased tile for my bathroom and foyer and I'm planning on purchasing a custom vanity top after the holidays. Definitely worth checking out in you're planning your next home improvement project. read more

We just finished custom building whole house and spent a number of weekends at Galleria picking tiles for quite a few rooms in the house. The store carries great selection but what makes it come together is the designers. We worked all these weeks with Diane M. She understood from beginning our design ideas and worked with them to put together some great selections. We can't thank her enough for all her advise, inputs and above all, patience, while we took our time to picture in our heads how everything would look. Jessica B in the front office/invoicing was a great help as well, billing and taking back numerous samples that we borrowed and returned. Galleria has admittedly used the wrong stone slab for my bathroom countertop. Although they will replace it with the correct one, they will only do so at their convenience. As a result, I'm left without a fully functioning bathroom for 16 days, maybe more, rather than the 3 or 4 days it should have taken. I can't understand why they will not correct their mistake in a prompt manner......this is unacceptable. read more

I would like to share our experience with Maxfine Large format (5'x10') porcelain tile and the retailer that sold it to us (The Galleria in Middletown, CT). In Summary, it's beautiful and we love no grout lines but buyer beware and know that the Galleria will not stand behind the products they sell. My wife and I wanted something for our bathroom shower that was maintenance free an looked elegant. At the Galleria we were show this new product from Italy and we immediately loved it. It was 3 times the cost (about 27 dollars a sq ft) and involved a lot of expense to have installed or a lot of skill and special tools to install yourself. We asked all the right questions. How does it hold up? Whats the maintenance? Most importantly does it stain? All the answers were what you would expect of porcelain. We even did our homework (see link below which will take you to the Maxfine site where you can also download the product brochure). Everything indicates little to no cleaning and that it will NOT stain. Even though it was far more then other high end tile we had considered we decided to move forward knowing we were getting a superior product. Quite by accident we found out that it DOES stain. Definition of stain = a mark that does not easily come out (this is important since Maxfine contends that the product doesn't stain. We noticed rings on the tile from the professional grade suction cups leant to us by the Galleria. I wiped with hot water and a rag as described in the product literature but it did not come out. I contacted the Galleria who instructed me to use acetone... really, acetone!! In the meantime I noticed some other spots from some oil that had splashed on the tile. Acetone, Ammonia, nothing took the "marks" off the tile. The Galleria contended like Maxfine that this was all normal. In the meantime I did some testing and found a number of common things would "mark" the tile (Wine, Sharpie, Hair Dye, etc). The sharpie we couldn't get out but did find the dye and wine came out with soft scrub. I also called two other tile supply houses who confirmed for me that this was NOT normal plus I tested other much cheaper tile which all cleaned up with water and paper tile. By now the Galleria had some a lot of their own testing and confirmed I wasn't crazy. It turns out that "some" "polished" porcelain tile has micro pours which can absorb dirt and this is known by maxfine and the Galleria but per the Galleria they were told by Maxfine that the tile does not stain. Mind you this was a product that up till now they were marketing as counter top... The Galleria even thanked us for finding the problem for them. However, all they all they offered was to seal the tile for us. They said this was something for me to take up with the manufacturer. To me this was an insult and showed that the Galleria was completely unwilling to stand behind the products they sell. We did not pay 27 dollars a square ft to have shower tile we routinely needed to seal and would not expect what we thought was a high end retailer to tell us to fend for ourselves. The suction cup ring eventually faded away on there own but the oil stain remain even after the Galleria came out with every cleaner they could think of (one they even left on overnight) so this at least is a STAIN under any definition you want. At this point the Galleria did offer to replace the tile but by then (3 months later) my bathroom was complete and we were not pulling it apart. The Galleria did seal our shower at their expense with a sealer that is supposed to last 3 yrs or more. I have since had NO contact from the Galleria with any other offer of compensation or to even ask us how it's going. I do want to say the tile is absolutely beautiful, we love it and the way the bathroom came out. We may have even still gone with the product but would have preferred to make our choice based on the truths of the material. Hopefully this note doesn't sound like whining but my wife an I can't help but feel we were taken advantage of. Either way I would suggest you buy a small piece and do your own testing before investing in this product, especially if you are doing this for a counter top.
