Last 3 times I have been there it has taken 10-15 minutes to get any help, I even had a guy walk off and help someone else while they were supposed to be helping me and this last time I showed the girl what I wanted she scanned the wrong Item and when I told her it was the wrong one she insisted on me buying it even though the item I was looking for cost $70 more. We love Home Depot and frequently shop there in central Ohio and in other states. This location is the worst we have been to. I needed blinds cut for my fifth wheel and told the man cutting them that they would be installed outside the window frame and needed to be a certain width. They then were cut to fit within a window frame and I did not realize that until we were home trying to install. When I tried to return them customer service gave me a hard time saying they cannot accept cut items. I informed her they were cut improperly and she reluctantly helped me. I went to get the same blinds cut and the same man came to cut them. I let him know again that I needed them cut to sit outside the window and needed them this width. He proceeded to cut them to fit within a frame and I let him know that was incorrect and I had just returned blinds cut that width. He argued with me and firmly asked me what width they needed to be. I was so frustrated I told him to add 2 inches to whatever setting he was on. We have had these same blinds cut in another location and the employees ask which way we were installing first because it really matters!! Please make sure to measure anything you are having cut here before you take it home. read more

Still terrible they have such a high turnover rate when it comes to any unusual items suck as bulk or clearance items they usually end up if you are not paying attention ripping the customer *servicing the customer* in the end with out them or the customer even knowing, then to top it off if you do know now it becomes the customers job to train them what BS read more

Nice store... only concern I have is with the kitchen appliance department... I recently inquired about a returned upright freezer.. The freezer was returned back to the store from a customer... I asked about the price and was told that it would be marked the same as the new ones... my concern is in the future when I purchase a new appliance, i hope it never left the store and was returned... since they mark the return appliance with the price of a new one I feel a little uneasy... read more

I hesitated to write this review as I've been a long-time customer at this store BUT...the customer service, on more than one occasion SUCKS (and by reading these reviews, I'm not the only one who very obviously feels this way)! I went in yesterday to at least schedule a carpet measure for my home knowing it would take awhile to order the carpet and actually receive it (before I had to schedule ANOTHER date to install it). The man who works in that dept was sitting behind the desk doing something with his phone (the "usual", as I see these people in this dept always sitting behind this desk on their phones and/or talking to each other as others have noted in their negative reviews). He did schedule a measure date for me but it went all downhill after that. I asked about the "contractor carpet special" promoted at the Pro Desk of which he said he knew nothing about (you are a "carpet guy", get up off your behind and LEARN about Home Depot carpet promos, oh my...lazy); but then he proceeded to tell me the carpet featured in that promo wasn't as good as the one he was showing me. When I did go back to the Pro Desk I looked at the carpet and sure enough, it was the EXACT same carpet if not extremely similar (27 oz weight, etc). The difference? The promo was $1.99 for carpet, padding and installation and what this guy was pushing on me was $1.89 for just carpet and installation...padding would have been around $1.00 more. So, why would I not buy this promo special except that was another issue. The one and only guy who sets up carpet measures was going to be on vacation and because he was "God" (at least in his mind) NOBODY else could possibly help me during the week he was going to be on vacation! Well, that isn't customer service, now is it? Because I (the CUSTOMER) was only going to be here for the next four days so I needed somebody to measure my hosue for carpet...or did I? I actually had the very same house measured for the very same rooms of carpet less than one year ago but no! According to Home Depot I needed a new measure (guess my room sizes changed int he last year??). When I asked to go over this one and only guys head (offering this promo special) I got no follow-up. I then requested for Paulette in the caret dept to call me asap to try to resolve these issues only to not receive a call for several hours. I called and said I was on my way in and lo and behold, there's Paulette talking to people who were walking in to order carpet AFTER I had been asking her to call me since almost 9am that morning. Ok, I get it that she has to talk to other customers and sell carpet (that is her job) but how about taking people "in line"? I was BEFORE these walk-ins, wasn't I? At some point wouldn't the proper way of handling this had been to call me back and discuss my carpet needs or do these people in this dept just ignore the customer who, again since 9am, was trying to talk to them, also? I just don't think this is good customer service and by reading the reviews, it appears others agree with me (esp about this carpet dept at HD). And no, it's not just this carpet dept but ALL departments at this location. I don't know what has happened but esp in the last two years customer service in this Niles store has really gone down! It SUCKS that I have to drive to Austintown or Boardman but it's truly worth dealing with the people in these other stores as opposed to this Niles location; really, really sad...used to be my fav store to go to when in this area! read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! My husband and I came into the store to purchase some flooring. We were in the flooring department for 30 minutes. We watched 5 associates sit at the desk talking, not one of them ask if we needed any assistance, UNTIL I took a picture of them, then everyone wanted to get up and start moving around. Totally unacceptable! I know companies are having a hard time finding employees, but your store is losing valuable customers due to the lack of help and customer service. It's extremely frustrating for 5 employees to be sitting around chatting when you have paying customers in your store willing to spend their hard earned money. To Lowes we went! read more

Went to Home Depot to get some supplies for a project, paint, & wood. I picked up a quart of paint, and waited at the counter as another associate was helping a lady. A gentleman came up, and I asked if it was possible to have the can shaken up. The gentleman grabbed the can out of my hands rudely with out any comments. The can shook very briefly and was notified it was "done",the associated acted bothered to be asked. Went down to pick up the lumber, an older associate helped us split a sheet of ply wood, he was very kind and helping. When we went up to the cashier, I waited behind a person checking out. As I get ready to be next a "Contractor" had cut in front of me, as well talking on the phone checking out. Acting as though a big shot. I told him how rude it was of him for what he did, which he didn't care to hear the truth.I would not recommend this location for your hardware needs, seems to be a bad enviroment here, beware! read more

Purchase number "1" a Ryobi lawn tractor. Great reviews and a eco friendly electric rider that I was excited to pick up. A very nice neighbor said he would go with his father to save me the $100 delivery. we get to Home Depot in Niles, Ohio and after 25 minutes they announce they can't find my tractor and try to give me the floor model that doesn't have all of the parts, no charger etc. Well after an informative conversation with the manager, she knew I meant business and low and behold they found my tractor. It was not put where it was supposed to be but was put outside. Yep, the box with parts was soaked. I get my tractor home and it's the charger, and the mower is ruined and so is the charger from sitting in the rain. i call and the excuse is that they have some new young employees that need trained. Excuse me, but shouldn't they be trained before they deal with expensive merchandise and customers? Well, after wasting my time and a neighbors and his fathers, Home Depot delivered the replacement with new parts the next day, just in time for the rain so i couldn't use it. Purchase number "2" Washer and Dryer: So excited to finally have a working dryer! Delivery men were prompt arriving at 9:30 when the time frame was between 9 and 1. They come in and look at my laundry room and announce that Home Depot sent me an electric dryer instead of a gas dryer when the sales girl said Gas is $100 more and I said that's what I need. Even said a new dryer vent and gas line would come with the dryer and now, I don't have a dryer again. Not happy with home depot! The delivery men were awesome, but they are subcontracted and have nothing to do with Home Depot. Never Never again will I purchase from them. read more

Generally, I like this store for our home repair needs. I would normally give them 4-stars but this is one exception. This one star has to do with the terrible customer service received when we needed to buy a new dishwasher. The guy was not very personable and had the attitude of "just leave me alone." He was not very helpful to my wife and not forthcoming with answers to her questions. The dishwasher we wanted was out of stock and he refused to sell us the floor model. I live far from Niles, but was in the area and decided to stop in for some last minute painting questions. As soon as I got to the door I was promptly greeted and asked if I needed any help. I was then pointed in the direction of the paint department where I was promptly greeted with fast, friendly service. The guy was very patient with me and very helpful. He guided me through what I needed to to and what to use. Showed me many brands of things I was looking for and never pressured me to buy. He even asked me questions to get to know my project better to give me better advise. I walked away more knowledgeable and more confident in my project. My wife and I are building a new Cornhole set for our son in law and needed several items and some lumber cut for pickup.Called a competitor and they could not do it. Just received our gift card for purchasing Behr paint. Tried applying it to out bill to help pay for the paint. We were denied they said we can use it in the store but can't apply to our bill. Talked to manager and I told him as soon as our bill is paid in full we will close out our account and go to Lowe's. Do not ever purchase carpet from home depot. I made the mistake of doing so at the niles store. I went in made my purchase with them knowing my house went on the market in 3 weeks. Installers call 4 days after was supposed to get a call, tell me the soonest I could get installed was the 4th of August unless I switched to their brand of carpet then I could be scheduled in 7 days. this was in June. So I went back to home Depot to talk to them about the issue, manager said he would call the Installers. Well the installers called me back and said that though my carpet was in on July 5th and they have open dates available that those dates were saved for their carpet brand I could buy that or pay extra lol. I then told her I was going to write on every form of media about the extortion she said let me get a manager and hung up on me. So I called home depot and told a manager and she was again supposed to get back to me but never did so I went in today and spoke to a manager who was calling again well I get a call back from Ronda at home depot telling me the same bull that I have to buy the brand they carry even though my order is in and now I can't be scheduled till the 17th what happened to date of the 4th???? I truly believe this store is cursed or something. Every time I've gone here to this store something bad happens. Either they won't take something back, they talk down to you, or, god forbid, I try exchanging something with "lifetime warranty". I will not step one foot in this store AGAIN. The customer service sucks and the employees are rude and crude, if you can ever find anyone who works there to help you. I can't believe they would employ half of the people who actually work there! C'mon! I can't believe this store is still in operation or people still shop here. I've tried finding information for their corporate office to complain but I can't find it. My wife and I went arrived around 630PM and walked to the bath and shower section, needing to buy a new shower and shower door. No one was there. Eventually we found an associate but he could not help us at all. He said he'd try to find someone who knew something about showers. Ten minutes later, nothing. We found another associate, who referred us back to the first associate. There were no displays set up, nothing at all like Lowe's (where we ended up going) where you could see what your choices were. We finally left. On our way out, my wife stopped at the customer service desk and asked for a manager, wanting to let him know. The customer service person, instead of paging a manager and having him come to the desk, told us, "That's him over there," over there being halfway across the store. We went over and told him what happened. I told him (politely, I've dealt with rude customers and don't want to be one of them) that we were ready to spend over $1000 on our shower but because no one was back there to help us with our purchase, we'd have to go elsewhere. Then--the icing on the cake--instead of saying, "Let me see what I can do to help you," he just said sorry. So essentially, to save $10 an hour for an associate in the bath and shower dept, they lost a $1000 sale to Lowes, where a young man named John did an EXCELLENT job of helping us find the right shower and door, which is a lot more complicated than you would think. read more
