Store# 8552 Pathetic Management and Total Lack of Leadership This store is a complete joke, and management is the biggest problem. The employees are clearly there just to collect a paycheck, and it's easy to see why--there's zero accountability. Management is completely checked out. The store manager is useless, and the so-called "managers" under them do absolutely nothing because no one is making them do their jobs. It's a free-for-all of laziness and incompetence. Policies? They don't matter here. Open bags of mulch, soil, and rock in the garden center are supposed to be sold at 50% off, yet no one enforces it. Cashiers don't care, supervisors look the other way, and management couldn't care less. It's a complete failure from the top down. Every trip to this store is a headache. This last weekend in particular I dropped in to pick up some light posts and they wouldn't even process match to their own online store. After things being in the wrong aisle and waiting around for 20 mins to get help finding the dang things they wanted me to instead place an online pickup order and wait another 30+ minutes to take home what I'd already spent all the time finding.. not sure if this is corporate malfeasance or just poor store management, probably both. I asked the person to please check before I drove one hour there and one hour back. I was assured they have the item on the shelf. When I arrived the product was damaged and unusable. What a delight this Home Depot was 2 weeks ago when we stopped in to buy a new/old-fashioned electric-coil range, since our 15+ year-old range unexpectedly gave up the ghost. "Moe", "Larry", & "Curly" at our local Culpeper Lowe's were so less than helpful that it was laughable, while the two lovely employees at this Home Depot answered our questions, found our perfect product, & had a few-days delivery day set up in a flash. Everything worked like clockwork, & we were enjoying our new range in what seemed to be a heartbeat, unlike the nightmare that Lowe's presented to us. (Think telling us that WE had to call the supplier to find out stock & delivery times; think WE having to call the supplier to find out the differences in the models; think - no, don't bother thinking. Mixed bag. I went in looking for several items: A gas grill, coolers, and electric fireplaces. I had to go to the Service Desk to get someone to come and talk with me about the grills. The grills have a sign on them that states "Free Assembly." Turns out - the "Free Assembly" is they assemble the grill in the store - okay - great - how the hell do I get the grill home? It sure won't fit in my car! Then he tells me they will rent me a truck to transport the grill. Ugh. Like I want to do that. Just offer me the option of delivering the grill to my house and then assembling it there. But Nooooooooooo! Couldn't possibly offer that as an option! I think I will hold off on the grill for now. Then I asked if they had coolers. The same guy told me he had not seen any and therefore they must not have any. I then walked around and found them. They were up to high for me to reach - so I went back to the Service Desk - a guy named Randy promptly met me on the aisle and pulled two coolers down for me. I also ended up buying several CFL bulbs in red and green (for Christmas). I've never seen CFL bulbs offered in colors - but I should not be surprised. read more

Worst experience with Home Depot I've ever had. Purchased a new refrigerator earlier this week (Tuesday) and arranged for delivery today (Saturday). Salesperson said the delivery crew had to install a new water line for the icemaker. I said fine, even though that made no sense since the old line is copper and in fine condition. Nevertheless, we added a "braided" water line to the sales order. Delivery crew arrived this afternoon - I had the old refrigerator pulled out and disconnected. The lead delivery guy took one look and said I needed to have a shut-off valve behind the refrigerator for the water line. First I'd heard of it - salesperson did NOT mention that requirement. He said he could arrange to have a plumber come by - I said no thanks. I told him just to take the old refrigerator away and set the new one in the kitchen, and I'd finish the installation myself. He said that was "against Home Depot policy". Delivery guy couldn't be reasoned with. We argued a bit, and then he just ran out the door and told the guy at the truck to put the new refrigerator back in - which he did. Then they drove away. I immediately called customer service talked to a Warrenton store manager. She agreed to talk to the delivery folks. A few minutes later a different manager called and said the truck was already back at the warehouse in Maryland - which was a total lie since they hadn't been gone for even 30 minutes - and that they couldn't redeliver for another five days. I told 'em hell no. Manager told me to have a nice day and hung up. Couldn't believe the BS or the lousy attitudes of the people I had to deal with. They acted like I owed 'em a living. Checked around to other stores and decided to go elsewhere to buy. Called Home Depot customer service again and finally got a cooperative and pleasant individual to process the cancellation and refund. I guess 2 out of 4 customer-oriented individuals is all I can expect. Won't be visiting Home Depot anymore. read more

I went to purchase two evergreen trees. They were clearly marked $26. When they were scanned the price was $29. The cashier said I needed to go to customer service. I stood in customer service line patiently and was told by the service rep that she did not have the ability to override the price. Charged $120 installation and left it at that. Plumbing company calls, extra $325, gonna need an electrician...extra $400-$450... WTF??? I call Home Depot back and ask, why don't you ask people if new install or not?? "We don't need to" they... BULL...you do need to moron!!! The initial $120 installation ..HD keeps some, some goes to the plumbing company...I asked why..."it's just the way it is" I'm told...what a scam!!!! While in the past I have had some headaches with this very Home Depot I wanted to write in and commend the young guy and girl that worked at the Tool Rental counter on Friday and Saturday. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. Very patient and nice esp the young guy (Dylan??). I was pretty stressed when I arrived (I hate moves and moving for many reasons) and when I was told that I had to present an insurance card with a current date (although I had several years worth in my wallet just not the current one) I was not happy. But I managed to log into my account on my phone and present it. They thanked for me for my patience and understanding which was very professional as I was a little irritated. They also pretty much anticipated issues to head them off too. Again rare to find customer service like that these days. Had no issues with the truck rental itself either. I love how they have ample parking for your personal vehicle while using the truck which Uhaul typically does not. I will say however I don't understand the policy of presenting a gas receipt (how do they know it was for that truck etc) but I filled it up of course and provided the receipt as requested. And on top of that I have to pay the electrician for an extra day because he didn't have all the parts to finish the installation Saturday. ETA for the new fixtures more than a week. On 5/22/2021 at around 10:30 was at HomeDepot #8553 Warrenton Va,20186. Just paid for plants and 30 bags of cedar mulch. Cashier stated take receipt to the outside garden section and show receipt. They will load the mulch for you . My wife pulls up and I handed the young gentleman the receipt. He stated the mulch was inside and we explained the cashier stated to pull around and you will get it for us and load it. I an disabled and can't pick up anything heavy. Why I have a handicap plate in the front window. The young man said he would go and get the mulch for us. An older gentleman with a pony tail can over on a forklift and asked the other new hire in training. Where the other gentleman went. He told him inside to get the cedar mulch. The man gets off the forklift. Tells us to move the truck we are blocking his pick up lane. Me and my wife explained to him. We did what we were told by the cashier. I asked the young lady who came out to see what was up. To get the store manager. She asked why. I stated to put in a complaint on the forklift driver. She stated he was the supervisor and never got store the manager. He went inside to apparently talk to the cashier. The first you man showed up with 15 bags of cedar mulch and started to load it. Nice and neat. I gave the young man a $20.00 tip and said lunch in me. The supervisor was throwing the mulch almost crushing the plants we just bought. So I started to video tape him. By then there were a few more employee's and customer's listening and watching the commotion. He came over and started running his mouth. Don't you swear at me. I stated do your job and then explain to the cashier. This isn't customer service. Not to send people around and make other arrangement.s for pick up. He wouldn't let it go and we got face to face. I placed an order and it was maybe a week for delivery, the delivery guy came and said his truck was too big to make it to my house. Rather than report the problem to management or simply use a smaller truck, it was as if I never ordered anything, I tried to contact homedepot on several occasions but it was very time consuming and I had other things to attend to after 30 minutes of getting no where with the store. After a month I had a few hours without anything else going on, and all that time homedepot never said anything or reached out about my order, by the time I got my delivery I saw that I had made a mistake on my order, so I called and got the correct size but had to wait another week. It's raining and the delivery guy said he was here, but if he was here he would have seen multiple cars in the driveways to the house, so why didn't he knock on the door if he was here, maybe he didn't bring his umbrella, don't know but there's so many excuses for laziness. About 30 minutes later I saw an email saying that the delivery driver couldn't find a place to put the delivery, if he was here then he would know that it's a pile of horse droppings. Called the store manager and he said that because it's labeled undelivered there's nothing he can do except schedule another day for the delivery. Maybe things have changed since I worked, but managers of people used to actually tell the subordinates what to do and where to go, but maybe homedepot just doesn't care about customers at all as long as they spend their money and don't complain then they can treat people however they want. Well on the graves of my brothers and sisters on this Memorial day if I don't get my order I'll be shopping at Lowes from now on. read more

NEVER EVER PURCHASE AN APPLIANCE FROM Home Depot. I ordered a gas range on Feb 17 - total price $1027.45. The day of the scheduled delivery - nothing. Come to find out it went to another state. Second delivery scheduled for following week. SAME THING - WENT TO ANOTHER STATE. They said my only option was to cancel the order - which I did. They said I would receive my refund of $1027.45 with 3-5 days. It's been a week, so I contacted them yet again. I spoke with 3 different people. #1 said I will receive my refund (1027.45) within 3-5 days (same story as last time). #2 person said I would receive my refund of $757 within 3-5 days. WRONG ANSWER. #3 person said the additional money for haul away, installation would be refunded separately. Then I'm told I have to go into the store with all my information to get the remaining refund by swiping my card. I paid with Apply Pay, so swiping my iPhone won't work because Home Depot doesn't use Apple Pay. Now the remaining refund will take TEN DAYS to receive. I will NEVER walk into a Home Depot again. I bought a unitized washer and dryer to replace the one that had just died in an epic way and was actually pretty pleased with the process. I purchased the unit online, scheduled the delivery an installation online and from there, it just kinda fizzled. The delivery people were pretty rude and in generally came off like they just didn't care or that they just didn't want to be working that day. It was hot, I get it, but it was just awkward. They installed the unit, tested it, and everything appeared to work. They ended up not installing the new dryer vent because it went up into the attic, but they told me I could return it to the store and get my money back...that's where this whole think kinda fell apart for me. The girl at the counter was Laura, I believe, and she had "Bubbles" or something like that writte onto her apron. I approached her at the counter and she said not even one word to me. I stood there for a second and just waited for to acknowledge my existence and finally, she looked at me, gave me one of those, "I'm not in the mood" smirks with the raised eyebrows and that was it. I explained what happened and she just walked away, came back, went to a different POS...all the while saying absolutely nothing...finally, without looking at me, asked for my phone number...then radio silence again. She puttered around the computer, typed furiously, walked away a few times, chatted with a coworker, typed furiously again then told me (yes, told, not asked) to sign a form acknowledging the return, then told me (yes, told, not suggested, not asked, told) to sign the credit card thingy. She handed me the receipt and then without a word, just walked away. I would probably buy from HD again since the online process was smooth, but I'll avoid this store and probably just go to Lowes in Culpeper the next time. read more

In general, I enjoy the Home Depot. There is really nothing that sets this HD apart from any other. I have always been greeted kindly, and have been given whatever help I may require. There is a "dinged" appliance section near the Door and Bath Sections along the back wall. I make sure to check it out every time I go. Usually there are only 3-4 items there, but it is worth noting. I have had better luck with the local nurseries when it comes to bushes, trees, etc. I would buy mulch locally before I bought it here. I've dealt with helpful and not-so-helpful employees on site at this location--their delivery service is completely unprofessional however. I purchased a dishwasher with installation from this location and was given a window of 12:30-4:30 for delivery. Needless to say, I made myself available and they did not arrive within that window. At 6:15 the driver called and said he would be there in 45 minutes. I asked how long it would take to install. He says with exasperation, "you want it installed?" Yes, that's what I paid for. He grumbles and hangs up. He arrives (an hour later) and comes in the house leaving his young skinny assistant to maneuver the dishwasher off the back of the truck with no ramp or dolly. The young man manages to catch it as it falls off the back of the truck. The driver/installer proceeds to tell me that I have bad plumbing and he can't possibly install it and even if he tries he takes no responsibility for what might happen. I say just take it back and refund my money. He takes it back--I still haven't received a refund. I confirmed the next morning with a master plumber that actually my plumbing is better than average and with a simple twist of a wrench he shows me just how easy it would be to attach a dishwasher. From speaking with others including the master plumber, a construction company, a friend who works in maintenance, as well as current Home Depot employees, this is a typical ploy of delivery drivers on their last run of the night so they can get out of installation and go home. Unprofessional. The store says they can't issue a refund for 72 hours. I will update this if I do not receive it. read more

I see here that there is a real horrible issue with the Home Depot appliance section. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM HOME DEPOT IN WARRENTON!!!!!!!! The delivery service is horrendous and the upper management of the company and the site are hugely unhelpful, and totally incompetent. I ordered a washer and dryer $1800 on Feb 2. They finally delivered the appliances several weeks later, but they were defective (Whirlpool Cabrio) Both appliances did not work and I asked for replacement or repaired. They told me that they would take away the dryer and suggested I go ahead and purchase another dryer I wanted (I decided the steam function may have been defective so i decided to get one without it) so I paid another $1100. I was told that I would be reimbursed for the first dryer 48 hours after they received the defective dryer back in the warehouse. 2 weeks later one of the "managers" told me that according to her notes the appliance was fixed and the matter settled. BUT no one had been to the house to fix anything. At that point I had had it and asked for a total refund of my money on all three appliances. I had a friend staying with me and one night I came home and the defective appliances were taken away without my knowledge (there was a delivery notice that morning but I thought it might be to replace the defective machines) so I thought it was an error message . After multiple calls, I finally got a hold of Tiaki in Atlanta who told me that I would be reimbursed for the appliances within 5 days. It has now been 1 week since someone came into my house and took away those appliances without my knowledge, damaged my drywall getting the machines out and so far I am out nearly $2900 . I am considering filling a police report for theft, and seeking legal action. read more

Home Depot had its delivery service deliver our refrigerator on April 17th. It has been a nightmare since we discovered our warped and buckling kitchen floor a few days later. We moved the fridge to discover a steady leak from the port where delivery man attached ice maker water hose. We took it off and put it in the bucket and turned off the water. We called Warrenton Home Depot, and no one came to look at the damage for 5 days. They gave our claim to FSA, their delivery company, and told me they were not responsible for what delivery people do. To make it a nightmare is the delivery team denies that they installed the line!!!! During installation, I even fetched a bucket and rubber band when he asked me. After several calls, even to corporate, I found out the "proof" was that the new line the guy was supposed to install was still in the box!!! So they obviously hooked up the old water line. After I expressed my frustration to corporate rep, I asked how do you solve a he said/she said operation? He said I might consider other options. Very encouraging! We are now working with our home insurance, with 1000 deductible. A contractor today said our whole kitchen will probably be gutted. He also said he's seen A lot of these home depot leaks from faulty installation. We will NEVER deal with Home Depot again. Terrible service and customer support. Very disappointing. Purchased a door with Warrenton Home Depot. I told the person who measured my front door and the salesperson, that I want to keep my storm door. Both said no problem. The day of installation the contractors had no idea I was keeping my storm door and reinstalling it. Called the contracting company immediately and they had Home Depot call. I was told there was nothing on the order about the storm door being put back on and it would cost an extra $110. She did say the salesperson had something on my order about reinstalling my Storm door but had scratched it out. I never said to not put the storm door back. But I was being forced to pay for another's mistake. The manager came to the call and ended up charging me half the cost to rehang my storm door ($55). This is still unacceptable, but I paid the $55 just to get my storm door put on. I was then told they'd talk to the contractors and let them know they could put the storm door back on. I asked if they received a call and they said no. They never heard from anyone, but still put the storm door on and said they'd figure things out. I will be calling Home Depot corporate and following up with this issue until I get my $55 dollars back. read more

I purchased a new Samsung washer and dryer. Both are very noisy and the washer does not have an extra wash cycle. When I called the Home Depot in Warrenton after one week to find out their return policy I was told I only had 48 hours to return them. There was nothing they could do but send a repair man out to look at them. I called again to speak to a manager and they took my name and number to have the appliance manager call me. I'm still waiting for the call. I called Lowe's to find out their teturn policy and they give their customers a 90 day return policy. Buyer beware on appliances! If you read the fine print, HD is responsible for absolutely nothing and does not back or warranty anything that they sell. Purchased a washer and dryer there that had issues within the first three days and they were like "not our problem" you have to go through the manufacturer. They will sell and profit from the sales of appliances, but other than making money, they will do nothing for you to assist if you have a problem. I will never use them for cabinets, counters or anything like that but yesterday my daughter and I had dealings with 3 very nice and helpful employees. All 3 stopped what they were doing to help us. All 3 were knowledgeable and able to point me in the right direction to find the safest and most economical solutions to our home project issues. We were in the siding department and were helped by 2 young men looking for aluminum flashing, adhesive for siding and electrical department being helped my a more experienced gentleman looking for boxes to move outlets midday. I went to order a picket fence. The saleswoman was able to pull up on the computer everything I needed, and we ordered including delivery, how easy !! The afternoon before it was to come, I realized I would have a problem cutting the 4x4s. I called to see if they could possibly cut before delivery.
