This Home Depot is by far my most favorite, and I have shopped at many across the country from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, South Dakota, and Wyoming... One of the reasons is the friendly service and it's never super busy and my favorite HD employee Shannon whom I will wait an extra person or two to have the pleasure of talking to her as she checks us out. After ordering a dishwasher and having the delivery guys install a damaged dishwasher, they offered a discount. I opted for a replacement. Having the dishwasher already hooked up they left it until the replacement could get delivered, well that date got canceled and rescheduled without a call for my day off. Called to let them know that day didn't work out, the man who obviously hates his job told me to leave it outside for pickup not even a different day. I called corporate which was just as helpful. Decided to go to J&S appliance and got treated wonderfully and saved money and stress. Will never patronize Home Depot again, even canceled my credit card I think, that was another horrible experience. Boycott these big box stores and support your local community. read more

We just so happened to be staying in Astoria during the heat dome. Our Airbnb didn't have AC (like most homes in this area), but need to find fans to try and cool down the place. We knew it was going to be tough to find fans in stock anywhere, so we went straight to customer service and they had two floor fans sitting there. The employee let us know that those were the last fans they had in stock. As we were about to purchase, an older person approached to ask customer service the same question. We ended up giving the fans to her. We left to search other nearby stores, but ended back up at this Home Depot about 15 minutes later to purchase a bucket. Low and behold, two more fans are sitting at the customer service counter FOR SALE. We ended up purchasing their "last two fans." What's the deal?!? Are you rationing fans? The most unprofessional and terrible customer service ive had in 48 years of life came from this circus of a store, we had a mower, gates, and fencing delivered, the gates had a ton of rust and dents on them, the 2x6's looked liked bananas, and every bag of concrete was punctured!!! The delivery date promised never happened, so i called and raised hell, we got the above mentioned delivery, and the guy delivering CHUCKED the $4000 dollar mower off first, and the rest was on a smashed pallet, i was so pissed i didnt even care at that point!! Then months later we start getting calls from home depot saying we need to pay for the mower, due to some so called software issue with the new crap they use at home depot, our mower got refunded, never re-billed to our home improvement loan, which a real business would have taken care of for their clients!!! So we are returning the mower, paying off the loan, and never ever are going support a home depot again!!!!! Its @Lowes and local from here on out!!!! read more

We had the best customer service experience with Tammy G. Actually all of the employees we encountered in store were friendly and helpful. Tammy went above and beyond to help us find what we needed and answer any questions. Start to finish, her assistance and attitude made us happy to shop at this store. Tammy was very professional and personable at the same time. Overall it was a great customer experience for me and my husband. I will add that I've also had a positive experience with scheduling a delivery. It was easy enough to schedule and the delivery was on time. We weren't really prepared for appliances to be hooked up, so I cannot comment much on that part. Additionally we scheduled a flooring measure and it was not a challenge at all to change the time for the schedule due to our schedule. We haven't had the measure yet and fingers crossed it goes smoothly! The only issue we had with this store was that there was not a large selection of toolkits. There was one box filled with essential multipurpose tools that we might need, but it was overpriced and no other options. Ultimately we did not purchase it. Usually we would see a larger selection in a Home Depot located near a large city, however we can't complain because the customer service from Tammy G. was phenomenal. read more

HD seems to have completely fallen apart.....horrible customer service, in person and won't answer the phone, while you are waiting for "curbside" delivery. I got an email from them stating that my order was ready for pick-up. The first attendant came out and was obviously annoyed by the inconvenience of having to serve someone....SO, She said she could not deliver it to space #1, I would have to move to the lumber section for delivery. Fair enough, I thought. Until I went in and told them I was ready for my delivery. She told me I would have to go to the customer service desk(where I just came from) Intold her that "they" had sent me to "her".....big sigh, calls the customer service desk. Then tells me to wait by my truck and They would be "right out" Around 15 to 20 minutes later I am calling HD to find out the status of my delivery....no answer...so I just let it ring and ring and ring. Finally they showed up and informed me that my 4x8 T111 would not fit in my 5x8 trailer. So, I did the math for her and then showed her how to slide them into the trailer I mean, GOOD GRIEF!!! Is good help that tough to find or do they just not care. If circumstances ever force me to return to HD, I will video the experience and share. This Home Depot is good for buying items off the shelf or ordering items, but we made the mistake of buying and having a Sliding glass door for our patio installed through their SPECIAL SERVICES. We had to pay for the door AND the Installation of the door IN ADVANCE and have been waited since early September for them to install. They have delayed the installation once because the wrong parts came in, and it is now finally set for late April. Scott, who was handling the order was not helpfull at all. We really regret paying Home Depot in advance and certainly would not do that again because you lose any leverage you have as a customer - NOT ADVISED. We can only hope the installation company does a good job installing! We will not use Home Depot Special Services to install anything in the future. read more

I was going through Warrenton and needed a part for the faucet in my RV. I had the part but didn't know where to find it in the store. Fortunately I asked Holly in the plumbing department. She found the part in their book but said it was a special order item. She then went the extra mile and looked up some places nearby and on my route south and gave me phone numbers. She actually looked up an Ace Hardware in Seaside which was on my way and saw that they had one in stock. Home Depot is lucky to have Holly as an employee. They grab everything you buy online and you go to customer service and they have it ready for you. Don't buy anything at Home Depot! I'm so angry and disappointed. When we bought our appliances, they assured us the deliverers would set everything up and we'd be ready to go. Well, all I can figure out is they were lying. Days later they said, "Oh no, they won't touch anything with copper." (How many of you have a copper line to your ice maker?) We said, "But you said..." and they said, "Well,we hire them and they're nothing to do with Home Depot, they just deliver." Hmmm So we're having a friend and an electrician come help us out. Lord knows how much that will be. Oh, and they didn't even bother leveling the fridge. So now my 77 yr old husband has to try and do it. Idk, has customer service gone out the window? Don't believe what they say. I thought we were paying top dollar but believe me it wasn't worth it. Can you tell I'm ticked off? I even waited to say anything. Grrrr..they just want the sale! Husband just called the asst. manager. She gave us $100 off. That was nice but I really really would rather have good customer service. I can guarantee there would be no more reviews like mine. 2 stars and dropping.. Went in to buy a dryer... 3 employees working the area (2 of them managers) which was pretty impressive, as I have had to call the Coast Guard to find missing employees before. Was there on a busy Saturday afternoon, which is normally against my religion, as I tend to like unorthodox hours and times for my shopping. I don't mind crowds really...it's the people that I can't stand. Knew what I wanted which seemed to throw the one manager off as evidenced from his shocked look on his face. Though in retrospect, this amazed look may just be his usual reaction to the world. He was in his own little world though or just socially backward, as he didn't respond to many questions with is stock answer being "they will have all of that up front when you pay and set up delivery" After battling the computer to get me in the system, it took four attempts on two computers.....part of it was a glitchy system, the other part of it was user typing errors. Impersonal treatment. I am not sure what the litmus test is for managers, but I think walking upright sans drooling will make you a shoe-in. I am glad that I knew my stuff about dryers, like they don't come with the power cord, because this clown made no mention or asked if I needed anything to hook up the dryer when it arrived (like the power cord, or venting tubes). A customer would be livid to have the dryer delivered and not realize that it doesn't come with the cord. Got me all printed up finally and up to the front I went. I began asking questions at customer service about how long delivery will take on average, and she was floored that none of this was explained to me. I was told that they should have discussed all of that with me and given me better attention as a customer. I then found out that the dryer I picked out was a "special order" which wasn't told to me by the manager as well. So that will add a bit of time to it all. Thankfully, I am not in that much of a rush to get my laundry done. Hell, it just gets wet again in Oregon anyway, so who needs a dryer? Lots of employees wandering around today, but none going out of their way to ask if you needed any help at all. Apathy has set in here it seems. I suppose that is why they want you to use their website for your business, so you can get the same impersonal feeling patronizing this place. Like with all HD's, it can be very hit or miss depending on the luck of the draw of who you talk to. read more

Today was a first for me at the Home Depot ! As I was shopping for my cleaning supplies, I was waiting for a lady to make her selection. There was a Home Depot employee who was helping her. I stood back not to crowd her while I waited to select my floor refinisher. The elderly male employee looked at me as asked what can I help you with in a crass tone. I was shocked!! I looked at him and said,"it's right here" in reference to the item I was wanting to purchase. I then smiled and walked away. I thought maybe I just miss judged his demeanor. As I was walking away and pushing my cart with my mop, Gain laundry soap, Dowey unstoppables, Clorox Wipes to look at the Meyers clears, he said very roughly , "what else?" Now I was sure my perception was dead on about his demeanor! I had no idea why this employee was being crass with me. I didn't say anything to him back. I Just walked away. I went forward with my shopping as I looked over my shoulder to see if he was still there. He had left the area. Now I was in question whether to leave the store and not buy anything and go to Fred Meyers and make my purchase. I decided since I have never been treated like that before at the Home Depot the place I have bought my flooring, Paint, trim, silestone counter tops, appliances, power tools, patio furniture, garden plants etc.. I went ahead and went to check out. After purchasing my cleaning supplies at the self checkout, a young lady (Jessica or Jenifer) was at her post, I asked her if I could speak with her. She said,"yes" very respectfully. I articulate my concern with encounter of the other employee. She listened and was very professional. She said she would pass on the information to the head checker. She asked me which isle I had my experience with the other employee. I was more comfortable with the situation after the young lady with the right professional attitude addressed my concerns. read more

My husband wanted to surprise me with a dishwasher. Ours had been broken for over a year. He did a lot of research and decided to purchase a specific dishwasher that Home Depot carried. Unfortunately, they didn't carry it at our local store, nor could we order it online, so we had to go to the store to purchase it. We purchased the Whirlpool dishwasher from a sales representative at the Warrenton Home Depot. Who I guess should have said that this was a special order and could take a while. Almost a month and no dishwasher. However, after the money was in hand, the friendliness and care ended. If you can call it care. It seems that the sales reps are unsure of what sales are going on, what a warranty actually offers, and what they are even selling to you. Almost a month later, we still don't have a dishwasher. We've had several "scheduled deliveries," which have both fallen through for one reason or another (on their end.) Every time I call, I've gotten different answers. It is being delivered, it isn't being delivered, it is being delivered, and oh wait, no, it isn't. Finally, I was called on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, and told that the dishwasher was arriving on Friday, the 27th. I asked for an estimated time and they said they weren't sure, but that the delivery driver would call thirty minutes prior to delivery. I asked for the delivery department to call me back with a better estimate of a delivery time. No one called, but I assumed that the person who told me that the dishwasher would arrive on Friday, was telling the truth. Shame on me! I took a day off and waited around. When I didn't hear from anyone I called, called again, and was finally told that the shipment had not arrived there. Well, that was fun. I decided to call the national Home Depot customer service. They claimed it was a vendor issue. Yeah, pass the buck Home Depot. I asked why that hadn't been explained to me. And received the Home Depot shrug, over the phone this was in the form of "I'm sorry." And a sort of, you should've known that this wasn't really being delivered even though that is what you were told. Wow! I guess I should have been psychic and known what their company policies were and that they were having vendor problems. Had I been told that, I would have been patient and understanding. I get it! I live a rural community, it can be challenging to get your orders here. However, I wasn't told that. In fact, I wasn't told much of anything. Home Depot's company policy is to transfer the phone to the other guy, only one or two people will give you a straight answer (whether it is right or not) and when things go wrong. You get, "I'm sorry." I don't want an "'m sorry" Home Depot, I want the dishwasher that I paid way too much money to have. You buy something and you still don't have it a month later. The WORST service I've ever gotten at a Home Depot. I usually like HD for convenience and timely ordering (usually). We've been working on a remodel and spec'ing lots from HD. Almost every order has gone wrong!! In particular the 8 doors we ordered. 5 were "in stock" and 3 were custom. We had multiple delivery dates that then were delayed because the doors didn't arrive in the original quoted time we were first given. So we decided to have the 5 of the in stock doors delivered so we can keep the project going. So we go IN to the store to speak with the MANAGER of the department where he assured us of our delivery, We call Tuesday because at this point we can't trust anything they say- and come Wednesday and only 2 of the 5 doors were delivered- with 1 being damaged. Granted we paid for this entire order end of March and its been almost a month and we only have 1 correct door. We go in to ask how the manager confirmed our order for 2 days and then it still is completely wrong and he didn't take ANY ownership in the multiple errors in our order. We wanted to cancel our whole order from them but unfortunately are on a time frame. It really seems that no one gives a sh*t about anyones order. Will NEVER ORDER DOORS FROM H.D. If I could give the check out staff a 0 I would. Tuesday at 11:00am. A man was checking out in the only spot that wasn't self serve, he left while my husband grabbed 1 thing he forgot. He never came back. 2 girls in customer service said no one is checking we had to go to self serve. We have 62 items. I asked the self serve checker if they really expected us to check our self out she was very nice and offered to do it for us. We were appreciative. Accidentally got charged for 2 of what we had 1 of. So back to customer service I go. Now there's no one there and the same rude woman was in check out 1. I asked her if I was supposed to go to her line for a refund. She said" I'm helping someone else right now but ok. That guy went to his car to get something. Finally a customer lady came and took care of me. Totally frustrating. Do have to give a compliment to the electrical man. Super nice and helpful and knowledgeable. I have always experienced, personable, knowledgeable assistance at our local Warrenton, Oregon store. Our rural location can make finding things difficult, but Home Depot is well stocked. When they began building this store, I was very disappointed as I, and many others like me, wanted to support our small, locally owned hardware stores. It was a tough transition and over time, one of the smaller businesses did disappear. But others did not and remain. Today I have friends that work at this store and they are treated well. We are fortunate to have Home Depot and it's friendly staff here on the North Coast. Their presence here has been a reminder that some "big box stores" and small communities can work together for good. read more

Went In to buy a range hood microwave and found one with a $218 price sign. When we told the appliance employee we were ready to buy it he informed us that there would be a $59 delivery charge. He said they don't carry microwaves in stock, except for the old clearance floor models and the only way to get this microwave was by home delivery for $59. We asked if it could be delivered to the store for pickup and he said no, they don't do that. The employee was getting a real attitude at this point. We said, so this means that it is impossible to get this microwave from Home Depot for the advertised price of $218, because there is no way to get it without the $59 delivery charge. The employee agreed that was the case and he was very angry and belligerent. We walked out and went to Lowe's in Hillsboro and bought the exact same microwave for $198. They would have delivered it for free to our house, but we were going to be in Hillsboro anyway so it was easy to pick up. read more

Customer service was the worst! It first started when we wanted to get a quote on floors, the day someone was supposed to come out and measure, the person just didn't show up! No call nothing, we had to call to figure out why no one came, we did end up getting our deposit back but it would have gone towards the installment anyway so it wasn't really anything. After a while we decided to still go through home depot for the floors and went in to get more information. They could not find our information with our names and phone #s we gave them, but when we finally looked up the months old email and gave them the confirmation # they were able to find it. When asked why they couldn't find it before since all our information was correct in their system, we were simply told "we don't know" and the lady trying to help us just started arguing with my husband who eventually complained to her manager, which i'm sure did absolutely nothing. So fine, all this happened and we probably should have gone else where due to their incompetence and lack of accountability but it came down to prices and theirs was the best we could find in our small community. Fast forward 2 months and its time for installation day, at least thats what the 5 emails we got said. We get everything ready,mind you the floors are going in our bedroom and bathrooms, my husband takes off work, we get situated with our dogs and prepare for our rooms to be torn up. The email said the installer had a window from 8am to 11 am.. by 11:40 when no one showed up or called, we decided itd be best to contact home depot with the 800 # provided. All they said is they would try to find out when the installer would be there. At 12:30 i got a call saying that the installer is not coming and that he was stuck on another job. It was infuriating to say the least. I get that its a 3rd party company that actually does the installation but Home Depot needs to take some responsibility for contracting with them, who by the way have the worst reviews on their own yelp! I wish i saw that before going with home depot but its not like they give you a choice anyway. This has been an absolute nightmare and I can't wait for it to be over!!!!! This isn't even the only issue i've had with this Home depot just the most recent! I'd give them - stars is it was possible! read more

Never have what you need and if you order it expect to wait extra weeks from when promised even if they tell you paying in advance will make it arrive on time. I went to home depot to buy a basic refrigerator for our cabin. I wanted a freezer on top and door hinges on the left as you face the refrigerator. I was told the installer would change the swing on the door if necessary. When the refrigerator was delivered they loaded my old refrigerator in the truck before bringing in the new one, when they brought in the new refrigerator it had the wrong door swing and the installer said he could not change the door swing because there was a part missing. I needed to call samsung and have their tech come out with the part. Not being able to get ahold of Samsung through the number the installer had given me I returned to home depot the next day. I spent 3 hours there with customer service and ended up with a manager who went by PJ. He said they would take care of it, to go home and wait for a call. No call came so I went back two days later, PJ looked very nervous and disappeared in the back somewhere, next i got a call from another manager, I was told that they had contacted Samsung and there was no part missing. When I told her I'd just return it and exchange it for one that opened the way it was supposed to, she told me to wait there was another manager coming to talk to me. This next manager was Derek and his contention was they don't order refrigerators with a specified door swing and they change the door swing for the customer at the cost of .01, it's basically free service for the customer. I showed him the receipt which specified that the refrigerator would have the proper door swing. He ignored it. I said I would just bring it back, I was told no returns after 48 hours. Derek had no concept of customer service or knowlege, and did not seem to understand the difference between left and right, and he said he was a manager. read more

She was telling me that it was my problem to find things. She said she was too busy (she was walking around chatting with a co-worker and laughing) to help me and referred me to an app and said I needed to go to the aisle myself. It's summer, well the calendar says summer, and it's time to begin thinking about outdoor projects you want to start in mid- July. My latest honey-do project requires a cement mixer....so off to HD. Like all HD's you are greeted at the door.. It's once inside employees tend to ignore you... We found one lonely mixer on the top shelf, last one in stock. We flagged down an orange apron, who told us to see the bald guy at the contractors desk.. He wasn't that enthused to walk to the aisle that had the mixer, then said he couldn't get it down, he wasn't licensed to drive the lift , yes thanks to OSHA you need a "license" .. I really got the feeling he was hoping we'd leave.. Not on your life buster, I have plans! So we all walked back while he called for a licensed operator. Here's where you hum the Jeopardy song....and again.. Hubby moved the car, heeded natures call, and still no operator. Finally a guy walks up who can operate the lift, and he says he's going to lunch... Now you would think more than 1 person in the store/ shift would be licensed to operate the lift. After some mumbling, the guy goes to find the lift and brings the mixer to the counter. I'm envisioning my project... Hubby knows it won't stop at this project...Now if the dang rain would stop,he can build the outdoor fireplace... I think I'll peruse the garden magazines.... read more
