I visited the Watertown store today to return a rug. The associate helping me (badge title: "Coach") processed the return but never confirmed whether the refund had gone through to my original payment method. I waited nearby while she assisted another colleague, hoping to ask about the refund status once she was free. When I finally got her attention to ask, she responded by saying she assumed I was waiting around because I wanted a job at the store -- rather than simply answering my question. This came across as dismissive and unprofessional, especially since I was a paying customer trying to confirm my refund, not someone loitering. I'd expect an associate to clearly communicate refund details at the point of return, and to respond respectfully when a customer follows up. They left a palate in my driveway blocking my car in. I called and the manager today said he was looking at the photo they took and I could get my car out just fine (I could NOT get it out!). I have a toddler to pick up from school and had to scramble to find help since I couldn't get out. I also just had a mastectomy and surgery and can't move anything heavy so I couldn't move these items myself. I explained this all to them on the phone and they literally couldn't care less! How can they literally block your car in and not send someone to move a gigantic palate out of the way when you have a child to get?! Finally they said they would send someone to move the palate today 3pm... well it's 9:10 pm now and nobody has come. I have never had a bad experience here before but today was truly shocking. Wow. The Home Depot Protection Plan. And you wonder why Amazon is taking over the world. I bought the plan for a microwave and followed the instructions to register. Take a pic of the reciept, text somewhere - and that's it, right? Wrong. After doing that it sent me to a blank page saying that I needed to do something else but with no info. Called the helpful (that's sarcasm) 833 number.. enter 1 get on a text thread with a real person. I figured I would talk to some directly. It again told me that I could text with a real person. After 3 times through the helpful (sarcasm) menu structure, I finally got a person. She asked me for the order #, which on a HD receipt is not an obvious thing. She finally found the receipt that I texted and got the order number. She then informed me I would have to CALL BACK IN 5 DAYS to register. What?!? Why?!. Maybe it's because HD uses Allstate which uses SquareTrade. Good luck following that bouncing accountability ball.. I can't image how fun it would be to file an actual claim. read more

I went here on a Thursday morning (today) at 10:30, hoping it wouldn't be too busy and someone could help me with carpeting. Nope! I wanted to get a price on re-ordering carpet (more or less the same thing I got in 2017 from them for the same 2 rooms). No one working in flooring. I went to the Customer Service Desk. A lot of grunts and shrugs, but someone called someone, no answer. Said "I don't know". They finally found someone (who did not work in flooring) to try to help. He could only look up my last two orders and the one before last (the one I needed) couldn't be accessed. He didn't know anything about flooring. Another customer said she was there yesterday (no one there) and today and she left disgusted too. I did speak to an assistant manager and he said he'd get someone (who didn't work in flooring, but used to, but the person had gone to lunch (11:10). He said someone would be in at noon. I was not waiting another 50 mins after wasting 40. I was just hoping to get a price or possibly place an order for re-carpeting the same space. Zero stars for flooring, zero stars for Customer Service, a half star for the assistant manager who tried to help, but was unable to. I definitely won't be buying carpeting from them again. read more

Tbh I don't think I've ever been to a store with nicer staff. I'm totally lost when it comes to home stuff, so Home Depot is a little daunting. Every time I've asked for help, the staff has been totally nice (and non-judgmental at my dumb (?) questions). They've also suggested really good products (see my before/ after pics below of floor cleaning products suggested. They've made home improvement a less intimidating task, which is a win in my book! Their website stated that the item I was looking for was in stock, with aisle and bay number. Took time off work to get it. It wasn't in stock. Went to the customer service desk to check whether it's maybe in the back. The woman at the customer service desk was rude, brusk, making two phone calls in the middle of looking up, ordering me around. Rude. At least you don't have to listen to the mansplaining from multiple sexist employees - from customer service to those "assigned" to an area to those just chatting. I have travelled the continental United States and Canada several times over and have paid visits to numerous Home Depots along the way. This particular franchise ranks by far the worst of them all in terms of organization and tidiness. To elaborate on this specific topic. For starters, carts are scattered just about everywhere in and outside the store. The fasteners aisle leaves me the impression that a tornado went through it. As a customer, if my shopping experience is limited to grabbing a cart and buying nuts and bolts, then it's safe to say I will rate my impression as poor. To revisit the cart situation however, I cast blame on the public for such awful behaviour. Is it so hard to use a few seconds of your time to simply push your cart in the designated area so that the staff can easily retrieve them? Happy shopping! read more

This is absolutely the worst Home Depot I've ever seen in my life, and I've lived all over the country. I went in the other day to buy a workbench for my new drill press and bandsaw. I found one that I liked but it didn't have any price, so I asked a hardware associate who was standing nearby. He came over and looked it over and said that he couldn't find a price or a scanner code. And then he looked at me and said, "I can't help you", and walked away. What's worse is that I went to the customer service desk and ask for a manager on duty. When he got around to coming up to me, I explained the situation and what I was looking for. I told him that the associate was no help. He said, "That's too bad. He could have looked it up on the computer." And that was that. He didn't offer to look it up for me, and he didn't offer me any compensation. As I was walking out while leaving the cart of goods behind, I said calmly, "Amazon it is." Corporate customer service was no help at all. They gave the boiler plate, "We take customer service issues very seriously. Your feedback is important to us. We will notify the management at this Home Depot and they will address this issue." What makes them think that a management team that didn't handle the issue will now handle it? I haven't heard from them. Home Depot has become just another Amazon showroom to me. They don't take care of the customers because they feel they're too big. This is a complaint about the general manager of the Watertown Home Depot Ed Shaut. I visited the store for the first time today to buy some paint supplies in the morning. In the afternoon I returned to make another purchase to replace a broken tool. While I was there I had to organize my vehicle.  I was approached by an unknown man who appeared agitated and started to repeatedly ask "Are you leaving this stuff for me?" I thought the man was homeless or deranged or both. When he looked at me I asked, "Do you work here?" He said yes and accused me of illegally dumping trash. [I had my trash in a trash bag in a shopping cart and I was adding to it as I continued to clean out my car and get my tools organized] I said, " it's okay I'm just cleaning out my car. I wont leave any trash behind." He was relentlessly going on about how it's illegal to dump trash, that this is private property, that he was taking my information, and that he was going to call the cops. I said that I would like to talk to a supervisor.  He said, that's me. I said I would like to talk to the store manager.  He said, that's me. I said I would like the number for his regional manager and he said he wasnt going to give me that information. He then told me I had to leave. It was private property, I'm dumping illegally, and he is calling the cops. I said , please call the cops and continued to clean up and organize my vehicle. I had my doubts that this could be the conduct of a home depot store manager so I pulled out my phone to get a picture of him for reference and ask him his name. Once he saw the camera he started to walk away quickly and refused to identify himself. He never returned. Once my organization was done and no trash was left behind I went inside to make an official complaint. I was told the store managers name is Ed Shaut and he had gone home for the day. A quick google image search confirms him to be the same individual who approached me. This man threatened me. Trespassed me for no substantial reason. Threatened to report me to the police (which is liable if he did) and refused to identify himself or give me the means to lodge a formal complaint with his superiors. I was just there to do some shopping and straighten out my vehicle so the tools were more orderly and easily accessible. Again, this was the FIRST TIME I had ever been to this location and have never had a problem before at any home depot. After going inside to get the information I needed to make a complaint I continued to do my shopping as planned.  I am a loyal customer. I do a lot of business with home depot. All of my tools are ridgid. I have spent thousands shopping at home depot. I am in property maintenance. A lot of my clients do business through me with home depot. After I acknowledged Ed was upset and didnt want any trash left behind, I could understand how frustrating that must be for him. I cordially agreed that there would be no trash left behind. He had no cause to escalate things so quickly, mischaracterize my intentions, and be so unprofessional as to threaten to call the police on me, refuse to give me his name or give me the means to report his behavior to regional. I went to the kitchen design center to order kitchen cabinets. I specially asked I want in-stock cabinets which I can have our contractor pick up off the shelve. So the kitchen designer Eve (or something like that), placed the order for us and confirmed with us those cabinets are in stock. But the second after we placed the order and paid for it, she told me, oh "some of those are societal design, so it won't be ready to pick up until January 6th." (which is 3-4 weeks from today) well, I know special design cabinets will take 3-4 weeks to arrive, and that's why I specially asked for IN-STOCK cabinets, and she even confirmed with me those are in-stock before placing the order. That's not the worst part. I know mistakes happen and I was willing to sort it out. But instead of trying to help us cancel the order or at lease help us find the actual in-stock cabinets, she told us"Now you placed the order, and the pick up date is January 6. If you want to cancel, talk to customer service." Like, wtf? You just made a false promise, and based your promise, we made the order. So instead of saying something like I'm sorry but I can help you order other cabinets that's actually in-stock, she asked me to talk to customer service and refuse to talk to me anymore. Like, literally the worst salesperson I ever met with. I mean, I understand if she doesn't have the right to cancel the order, but can't she at least apologize or at lease help us order the actual in-stock cabinets? Now we paid over $2000 for those cabinets, and need to talk to customer service to return it. We still don't have the in-stock cabinets we wanted, and we absolutely don't want to go back to eve to place another order for in-stock cabinets because she was inpatient and disrespectful. Plus, she refused to talk to us after she told us to talk to the customer service to cancel the order. Stay away from Eve in their kitchen cabinet center. Get a real kitchen specialist in your local store instead. You will find someone who will actually treat you as a customer and help you place a CORRECT order. read more

I've been here several times for various items from Christmas trees to lumber and stain to succulents. The layout is similar to most HDs- so naturally it is difficult to find most things. There is usually an associate willing and able to help me find what I am looking for and if not, I just go to HD's website, select the store, and the site tells me which aisle my desired item is in. Generally we have found a few very helpful store associates working at this Home Depot, however, our last couple of customer service interactions have not been pleasant causing us to leave unhappy, and leading to this bad review. From the saw not being available for cutting wood to the size needed, to damaged boxes and missing orders, to the 'card only' self checkout card readers only reading 'certain cards' and throwing errors causing my credit card company to question a transaction and freeze my card because of too many chip reader errors and swipes when the over confident manager tells me it's my card, and to use another when I did not want to... meanwhile, the person checking out next to me had the same card reading error! I am a bit disappointed from this location. Several years ago it used to be better. Today it felt under stuffed. It took me a while to find what I needed and there wasn't anyone near who I could ask for help. I was shopping for a gift. I was buying a compound miter saw. The model I was looking to get had several boxes available. For my disappointment all of the available boxes were damaged on the outside. My review relates to my last three visits here. All three of them were picking up online orders with two of them being orders that they brought to the car and one where I went inside because it was after hours. In all three situations the employees were very professional and helped out and made sure that everything was perfect. The online order process was easy; and in both of those cases when we notified them that we were outside they brought the purchases out promptly. Our tenants' washing machine broke down last week and we went to HD to get a new one. The sale and order process was about normal and we got a delivery and installation date a week out. HD uses a delivery service called Spirit. They called and arrived on schedule but then things fell apart. The delivery driver decided our washer cut-off valve was bad and wouldn't cut off the water completely. I offered to turn off the house water but he refused. Instead, they brought the new washer in and dumped it in the room next to the laundry, telling me if I hooked it up and called the service they would pick up the old one. So they left the old washer in place, the new one a room away from its destination, and left the job of moving two heavy washing machines to a 76-year old man. And we paid for delivery and installation. This is not the sort of service I expect from a national company. We use HD for a lot of supplies but I'm clearly going to hesitate to use them in the future if delivery and installation is involved. read more

For whatever reason this Home Depot tends to be out of a lot of the garden products on a regular basis. I need to go to virtually any other Home Depot to pick up bone meal, food grade Diatomaceous Earth various fertilizers and Home and Garden amendments. Whenever I need cleaning supplies I always stop by Home Depot. They have an aisle where there is a wide selection of cleaning supplies. I recently picked up a container of TIDE capsules. Made many trips here. 2-3 times per week. Today has been the worse experience. Waited for half an hour at isle 16 to have the window blinds cut. No one is willing to do it. Every staff is waiting for the other staff to help us. If the window blinds were cut correctly then we wouldn't have to wait so long and kept having associates in the front to page someone to help us. As I was entering the aisle, an employee pulled a gate shut in front of me and told me the aisle was closed. Something about a pallet. I told him I just needed a bottle of Drano and he waved me off and turned his back. He couldn't even be bothered to get the bottle for me since I couldn't get it myself. This was a large order and it felt like a good idea to open up a credit card which alone took 15 minutes. Then comes the order itself.
