very disorganized. i stood in line at cusromer svc for over 20 mi . the employee kept talking to the cusromer in front of me about her dog and were showing each other pictures of their dogs. i left and found the manager. he said i could leave if i didn't like it. In short: The store's refusal to refund a shipping charge for delivering damaged items has left me extremely dissatisfied and frustrated. The items I received were in terrible condition. It was clear that they had been mishandled during shipping resulting in significant damage to at least 9 of the 8' cedar boards I ordered. I ended up returning 35 boards total (26 of the 6' boards and 9 of the 8') due to their overall quality. Some boards were thicker/thinner than others, small splits, rot, what looked like mold, discoloration, etc. I usually go to the store and purchase these boards in person. I pick through the pallet of boards and avoid ones that are damaged. However, the 8' boards I needed for my customer's project were not available at the Winder store, or any store within a 50 mile radius of me, according to the Home Depot website. The only option I had was to schedule delivery and pay the $79 delivery fee. On July 12th, I loaded up all the damaged items and drove them to the Winder store, which is the store closest to my home. The associate who was handling my return advised that I needed to speak to ".com" about the delivery fee as the store cannot do anything. I received a refund for the items I returned and left. I called Home Depot customer service to request a refund for the associated shipping charge, but the representative I spoke to told me since this order was shipped from a store, I'd have to go to the store to get a refund for the shipping. Total runaround. I drive back to the Winder store and relay that ".com" contradicted what I was told initially, but the store manager adamantly refused to refund the shipping charge. Michael told me, and I quote, "You can go cry about it to corporate. I'm not refunding you $79 because 9 of your boards were damaged". I asked if I was being treated this way because I'm young. He threw his hands up and said, "I'm not doing this with you. Get out of my store." Just like that. I called him a piece of sh*t (poor choice of words, I know) and was told that he was calling the police because I cursed at him. I waited outside while on the phone with my wife for about 15 minutes for the police to arrive. They never did. I walked back in the store just enough to ask if they were on the way (I was standing in between the two sets of double doors). The manager rolled his eyes and said, "I don't know, buddy." I said, "OK well I'm waiting outside and it's hot. Did they give you an eta?" He replied with, "You can wait outside all day for all I care." And then started to approach me. I asked him not to step closer to me and backed up a few feet. He ignored me and followed me outside into the parking lot. I asked him again to get out of my face to which he responded with, "What are you going to do? Hit me? Hit me! Hit me!". A grown man. A store manager. This is unacceptable and honestly a bit unbelievable. If you can't interact with customers without escalating situations or without antagonizing them, you shouldn't hold that position. I've never in my life been talked down to, mocked, and threatened like this. All over $79 when I've spent THOUSANDS on my Home Depot credit card since 2014. Luckily for me, Home Depot extends their return policy to a year for purchases made on their credit card. I've been able to gather roughly $500 in product (including tools and hardware) from the past year to return. Funnily enough, I had zero problems closing my credit card over the phone. That department didn't even care to ask why! In conclusion, I strongly advise against shopping at Home Depot - especially the Home Depot in Winder. Save yourself the headache and shop where your satisfaction is valued. Also, be sure to steer clear of Michael Emeneker who will throw a temper tantrum like a 4-year-old and misuse emergency services the second you have any kind of attitude with him. read more

First let me state this is no fault of the staff on location, this is a corporate problem. BEWARE, it's pine straw season, I was told Home Depot (Bethlehem) does not sell bales any longer only the rolls. Know that a roll does hold about 2 bales and cost $10 per roll - I barely got 20 roles stacked 3 high with tail gate open on a full size Tundra pickup truck and needing tied down. The BAD NEWS - this pine straw is dirty, full of full size branches, twigs, long slices of bark and some rolls being wraped in twine three times in three different depths. When your desperate and your regular supplier has been closed for a week you take what you can get. So you've been warned, good luck. read more

I made an online reservation days in advance for an 11hour rental, charged $150. The evening before I am to retrieve the rental I receive a call that Home Depot made a hiccup and cancelled the reservation and to come in and repay the $150, the original payment would be refunded. At this next purchase the time length for the rental is from 8:30am-5:06 (because they were closing early) for $150 (less than 11hours) . I return the rental before 7pm and receive a call the next day that I will be charged an additional amount for not retuning the rental, I respond that the rental was returned. I am then told I'm being charged because the rental was returned 2 hours later. I spoke with the manager for over 15minutes, who not only hung up on me but was also yelling at me. one of the statements made was "I'm not worried about the previous transaction I'm talking about the one in front of me." After disconnecting the call he called back, & resolved the issue without the additional charge and credit however the rude customer service and false advertising should be looked into immediately. read more

Heartless! Heartless! Heartless! Today, I had a very off-putting experience at my local Home Depot (Winder #6979). First, a little back story: some years ago, when shopping at the same store in the garden center, a little old lady told me her secret about buying dirt for her vegetable garden each year. I asked the cashier about it, and she confirmed it was so. If you find bags were busted open or ripped open, they will give a discount of 50% per bag. So, for the past three years at Spring, I have been buying them at my local store in Winder and other locations near my home, with last weekend being the first time this year. However, when I returned to the Winder location today to pick up a few bags to top off my raised bed garden, an employee approached me and asked me what I was doing. I told him I was picking up the busted bags of dirt to purchase them at a discount, some of which were sitting to the side of the pallets where customers had placed them, not wanting to buy an open bag. He asked me who told me that, and when I told him that the cashier had a long time ago, in a tone that sounded as if he owned the store, he said to me that this was the last day I would be allowed to buy them and that he will no longer be selling busted bags at all. So, I asked him who he thought would pay the full price for a bag that was not full in some cases and had the contents spilling out, but he gave me no reply. As I continued my hunt for bags down the rows, I overheard him tell one of the employees that after today, they would no longer be allowed to sell open busted bags at a discount and that, from this point on, they were to throw all the bags away that had ripped or tears in them. Since I was within hearing distance of him loudly pronouncing this while I was still there, I asked him why waste something that could be used and why it would not be better to make some money as opposed to losing money by throwing it away as no one wanted to pay full price for them. He responded that he decided to make it. After he walked away, I spoke with the employee to ask who he was, seeing that he never introduced himself. She told me he was the manager ( Mike) but did not know how long he had worked there. She even found it peculiarly strange that he reacted the way he did and felt it was a waste of something that could have been used. What is the corporate policy on discounting damaged products, or is this just the manager's discretion? In times like this, when inflation is eating us all alive, I hope to grow a little of my food to help get by. How does it look that you would rather throw supplies away that I could Purchase and use to help feed my family? I hold two Home Depot credit cards and have used them a lot, but after this experience, I will use my Lowes card more. read more

I sometimes go in just to ask the folks there what to buy to complete the job I'm doing and they always seem to really consider my questions instead of just giving me a generic answer. I am really thankful this evening for Mao. He went above and beyond and listened to me as I frantically tell him what I needed and he even took the time to come out and tighten the bolt on my car so I could get home safely. read more

Best customer service! I had a delivery of 3 mirrors one arrived broken. I called the store and explained that I really needed the 3rd mirror ASAP for a project I was in the middle of. They had an associate bring the replacement mirror out to me the next day. They were friendly on the phone and excellent customer service!! More than I expected from a big box store. read more

After spends a few hundreds of $$ on wood someone should be there to help you load. Awful experience with Winder Home Depot. Brought lifeproof flooring and it was scratched durning unstall. 3.19 a sq ft. Not cheap. Its Water proof...Stratch resistant..life time residential warranty. Not even finished being put down and its scratched. I looked up how to fix the scratches..rejuvenate. It Made the floor worse and now I cant get the rejuvenate ofc the floor. I go into Home Depot ASM tell me to put bleach on it to remove rejuvenate.(no I did not). HD sent me to manafacture who says I ordered Allure Oak not Burnt Oak and wants proof of order for Allure oak.no such item Allure Oak in Lifeproof. All documents state Burnt oak. Ordered, paid, recieved burnt oak. Management is jerking me around going on 16 days.refusing to assist me saying I cursed at 1 of his managers.she's a Liar... I have every conversation taped. Cop out excuse not to rectify the problem. District manager just as useless. Never called me back as promised. I taped her conversation also. Floors has been pulled up ready to return for refund. Now ASM calls and says no return on boxes opened. Flooring is damaged and they are refusing exchange it now refusing me a refund. $4800 for floring and Im being jerked around. My house has no kitchen. No furniutre. We have foster kids and 2 exchange students. My husband & neighbor had to reconnect our stove and take my dinningroom from storage so we could sit and eat. No one cares that our kids could be taken away due to my house us considered unsafe. No one at HD picks up the phone. The Management lies. Instead of the Store manager stepping up and addressing me and the problem he tells my son who works there that he the manager isn't helping me because I cursed at his assistant. Which I did not do. I taped the conversation. Thats a cop out. He has no balls. Lets say I did as an example... Wouldnt a good manager step up and call the customer and say Im sorry Im not going to allow you to abuse my employees, you will have to deal with me and only me. Nope... Instead he tells my son, who works there that he the manager isn't going to help me. Coporate just sends me to manafacture who insists I have Allure Oak and I do not. Now after 2 weeks and knowing we pulled the flooring up for a refund do they want to send a flooring inspector out. To inspect what. The flooring is all pulled up ready to be returned as HD was taking it back but than changed their minds. so theres no floor to inspect. It bare cement at this point. I asked from day 1 to pls send someone out. Now that there's no floor they want to send someone. I've reached out to the CEO Craig Menear and spoke with his Secretary. She advised to not to speak with the store anylonger. That she woukd handle my problem. Problem is not its friday. Another week passed. The weekend is here, I emailed her 2x this week and no response back. Yes my emails went through. I called the news channels in hopes of help. But I think Im going to need a lawyer if not resolved by the 25th. I will never buy from HD again. Never. Almost 5k for flooring. 45 boxes and they think their going to screw me. Went on their website to see if they had a pressure washer in stock, their website said they had 4 in stock. so i went to the location to purchase one. they actually did NOT have that pressure washer let alone 4 of them. so I ordered the pressure washer from them, got it shipped to the store and waited 4 days to pick it up.. when I picked it up I unboxed the pressure washer and it was broken. Wand was destroyed. I took it back to get a replacement. They said they couldn't just replace the wand so they had to take back the entire unit. instead of just reordering my item, they completely refunded me, and refunded my $150 protection plan. Told me to leave basically and come back when i had a new order. I had to wait over a DAY for the funds to show back up in my account. I reordered through them(mistake#1) but this time I ordered it to be delivered to my home so that hopefully the pressure washer wouldnt be broken(mistake #2). This was a severe mistake. This item was supposed to take 7 days to get to my house. I thought it was annoying but better then having a busted product right? wrong. i shouldve just took the unit and bought a replacement wand myself and ate the cost. 7 days comes around, guess what? no pressure washer. called home depot and got on the phone with a manager. she said she was going to call me right back. i waited. for 4 hours. she never called back. so I called the transportation company, no answer, emailed them, no answer, called home depot, and they basically said "we don't know where your pressure washer is but you can come get a cheaper version that's HALF the price and HALF the performance" what??? Were now going on 10 days with no pressure washer and $1200 down the drain. I also lost about $400 in income due to their absolute incompetence. If this pressure washer even show up to my house i will be suprised. if its broken im going to send it back and get a refund, and buy a pressue washer thats double the money from lowes just out of spite. I will NEVER do business with this location again. if you want to get stuff from home depot, go to the Hamilton mill location. reading other reviews I'm surprised they're still open. if only I read these reviews first. read more

I usually avoid big box corporate stores, but I'm definitely a fan of this particular location. The last time I happened by was during Black Friday weekend, and I couldn't help but notice the smiles and warm attitude from all the staff. Usually you might expect a mechanical, "can I help you with something" but I everyone was sincerely friendly, from the greeter to the employees roaming the aisles to the cashiers. The store was well stocked and amazingly organized and had a helpful "try before you buy" station. That alone induced me into purchasing a Dremel that I had been considering. I really like this particular store. Sure, every big box has problems and complaints about customer service. But this store goes a long way toward making up for that. read more

I went to garden department and asked if they had any catnip plants. The cashier that was there informed me that they have no idea of what type of plants they have and there is not anyone there that could help me. She told me the name of the nursery that drops everything off. Supposedly, it's the nursery that drops everything off responsibility to know what's in inveventory, not the people interacting with the customer. I remember when Home Depot actually had people working that somewhat knew the product. I hate this particular store. Home Depots in general are hit or miss these days as far as customer service goes but at this location, if you need any more help than finding which isle has an item, forget it! My husband and I have been here several times. When it opened, we were excited to have a big home project store close by, since Winder is lacking in large chains. Boy were we disappointed! We have never received helpful service here and here is the latest experience that prompted me to write this review. We were looking to paint our entire house and put in new floors. Upon hitting the paint section, we snagged an employee, turned out to be a manager, and asked him a few questions about color and brush types. He seriously talked to us like we were 5 years old (we are in our 30's)! When we asked him about mixing us a custom color, he said "See that wall of colors (referring to the wall of color samples), you pick one, buy the paint and then you paint it on the wall." Very condescending! He could not recommend the correct brushes (online research says to use synthetic brushes with latex paint and he told us to use natural bristles) and the best part: another customer needed paint mixed so he walked off in the middle of helping us and came back about 10 minutes later, smirked and said "how'd you like the wait?" Who says that!?! We walked out and will not be going back! Note to people that live in Winder area, there is a nice Ace Hardware in town on 211 where the people are super helpful and knowledgable about product. Smaller store but better experience. read more

Bought new carpet & installed. When buying we were told a 25 year warranty. Not until after we bought we were told limited. We were misled. I asked for a written warranty. After installed, I still not have written warranty. I even talked to manager & he said he would call back. He did not, he had regular employee to call. We were not given cleaning instructions. Once they made the sale, they washed their hands of us. The installers did great. We did not like the way they did business & the fact the manager did not call back himself. I recently went to Home Depot to buy a new dish washer. I picked out the model I wanted and also paid a $100 installation fee. a $20 haul away fee and a $20.00 charge for an installation kit. I was told that the installer would call 1-2 days prior to deliver, which they did...to confirm delivery time. They also said they would call 30 minutes before arrival. They called and hour ahead of time. The phone number was a New York City phone number, and I never pick up number I do not recognize. The caller left a message, but he had a thick accent and spoke so fast I could not understand him. The installer arrived about 10 minutes later with the dishwasher and informed me that they can not install the dishwasher because my shut off valve is outdated and needs to be replaced with a 3/8 shut off valve. And they were not able to do it. They said I would have to get a plumber to do the job. I said, "Why can't you do it?" and I was informed that they are not plumbers. I was dumbstruck. Home Depot needs to have installers that can deal with a variety of different issues. I finally called a friend of mine who is a plumber. He looked at the situation and said that the shut off valve was NOT the problem. He was able to install the dishwasher sans the installation kit. I was refunded the $100 installation fee, the $20 haul away fee and the $20.00 charge for an installation kit which was never needed. But this should never have happened. When you spend this amount of money on an appliance, you expect stellar service, not excuses for lack of training. Home Depot needs to hire plumbers, not non-plumbers who have a one size fits all mentality. My house is 24 years old, and am certain many others have faced this dilemma. A very strong word to the wise: I am not going to recommend one buy appliances from HD, but if you do, DO NOT USE THEIR INSTALLERS. My plumber charged me $105 and HD refunded me $141.00. I am never going to rely on Home Depot again. They overcharge and those who do not know better, fall for it. Too much aggravation. Anybody who needs to have an appliance installed like a dishwasher should call Doug Adkins at 678 227 4263. He is reliable, honest, very fair in what he charges. I am pretty disappointed in the customer service this store completely lacks. Well, almost completely. I have asked people that work there while they were standing in a particular aisle if they could help me with tools. (That is where he was standing) I showed him two items and asked what the difference was. They both looked mostly the same, but one of them was more money. The reason I wanted to know was because I came in for the priceier one but if the other one was the same, what is the point in spending extra money? He tells me he has no idea. Not only did he not have an answer, but he didn't get anyone else to help. That was it. I was supposed to be satisfied with that answer. I have worked in customer service for many many years, and I am sure that anyone else who has worked in customer service reading this review can agree that if you don't know something, you find someone who does or find out on your own some way. That was pretty annoying. Then yesterday I went in to return a low quality item to find a better one. I was told several different places in the store to check, being bounces from one side to the next and I had a lot of people pointing fingers at where things were instead of showing me. A couple people in one department say, No that item is not back here." I get sent outside. I ask the girl out there and she actually helped! She told me what aisle to find the product, which was about 20 feet away from the people who told me it wasn't in there department! I am so sick of employees that stand there and chit chat and do not care about the customers. If it weren't for the customers, you guys wouldn't have jobs! And the management clearly does not care that they are wasting money on crap employees. Sadly, there is no Lowe's nearby. But I will check Ace Hardware out to see if they have better service. I could not reach it the guy working in that area was to busy on his phone to take time to help me. I walked out and drove to lowes in Athens and purchased one.
