It's a good business and has many tools. I like how you can buy ratchet pieces by single pieces and not have to buy the whole set. Makes it great for those who may have lost a single size ratchet attachment and just want to replace that one without having to spend $20-$40 to buy a set. They have tool sizes and specialty tools here that you won't find at home depot or lowes. The prices are reasonable and the employees are friendly. The parking lot is not the best but on non busy days it's pretty easy to park. Location is a little hard to find as it's off the main street a bit and up a small hill hidden behind some stores but google maps seems to direct you right to it. 4 solid yelp stars! read more

There's some nice high quality tools here as the prices matches the quality. If you're in the area or short on tools, come check them out. Northern Tool & Equipment Co has been in business for quite some time but I hardly ever purchase anything from them as I have been skeptical of most of their carried products; they sell a lot of off-branded goods that I simply hesitate to purchase for fear of poor quality and durability. I have reviewed their products online or through their mailer catalog and have not been that impressed with their goods and prices in comparison with other tool and hardware businesses, but this time I decided to check out the Brick & Mortar location just off of RT 78 in Snellville in order to see, touch, and scrutinize the wares at face value. As is the case with just about every tool equipment and supply company anymore, Northern is filled with an overabundance of cheap imported hand tools (Ratchets/sockets, Screwdrivers, Wrenches, etc), assorted trailer making parts (hubs, wheels, tires, fenders, lights, U-Bolts, etc.), assorted welding parts/tools, some Automotive usage tools (specific hand tools, assorted size and weight Jacks and Jack stands; mainly Torin brand, BIG Rolling Toolboxes, etc.), varying sizes and gauges of tarps, varying cooling fans, varying low load wheels and tires, varying wheelbarrow, lawnmower, and other parts, varying castors, assorted gas cans, lots of nick-knacks, and a bunch of other trade wares stuff. They do carry some quality USA MADE hand tools (Channel-Lock products) and garden tools, and they sell some name brand power tools (Milwaukee, and DeWalt), along with some name brand lawn care machines (mainly Husqvarna, Honda; mostly factory reconditioned units), but for the most part, their shelves are stocked with the all-to-known Made In China and Taiwan products of which I truly loath and do not trust. The building is really nice, very clean, and mostly well laid out/organized with a great usage of specific signage for each area. The only real fault in the organization of shelf items can be found in the power tools section (specifically the Hand Grinders and other tools) where the products are haphazardly placed on shelves with confusing price signage. I found the people who work there to be helpful and friendly, and this location does offer and stock an abundance of products that will mostly satisfy a lot of needs, but overall, I would rate Northern Tool & Equipment Co a 3 out of 5 for having too much cheap product[s] at higher than should be prices. read more

My husband and I went to Northern Tool in Snellvile on 11/30/2014 to see what they had on gas leaf blowers. I also was looking for a truck tool box as a gift for hubby. We like the store for tools and items to do home projects. We didn't get the leaf blower, but got a pair of jeans and t-shirt. At the register when we went to pay, I mentioned to see if they gave discounts for Veterans. My husband showed his GA Drivers License as it has "VET" Category. He has used it at other stores with no problem. The clerk at the register took a look at it and said ok. The manager on duty Sunday afternoon, said he needed to see my husband's Military ID. I explained to the mgr that this drivers license was issued by the DMV and had the Vet Category and was valid. The clerk at the register was very nice and said yes, it is valid and she sees them all the time, bc not everyone carries their Military ID, especially those that are retired Veterans. The manager insisted, but the young woman at the register went on and processed the purchase and provided the discount. My husband stood quietly, as he did not want to make a scene at the store. I was heart broken for him and other Military Personnel active or retired that encounter ppl like this man. Shame Shame Shame. I doubt it I get my husband's Christmas gift at Northern Tool. Even if I have to pay more, I will shop elsewhere. I gave two stars for the clerk at the register as she was courteous and professional. She was great. read more

I will not shop here anymore, everything I buy breaks, all the warranties are not worth the paper it's written on.. I've spent thousands here to be bs around when I have a problem...every time.. Gets old quick... Do not do business with northern unless you have money to throw away! read more

Getting help information from staff in Snellville was like going down Alice's rabbit hole. I purchased a fairly pricey piece of equipment and needed operational info, coverage, etc . Answers from 3 staff members contradicted each other (sometimes from the same person) and were not particularly commonsensical. Waited over half hour for manager to come - when he finally came (actually he never came - we just happened to ask another staff member if that was him) he said he had his phone turned off (and didn't hear overhead loudspeaker either?) - duh, turn it on bub... I bought the equipment anyway and can only hope Northern Tools pulls through. From reading other reviews I'm wary... read more
